The influence of the pump intensity profile on the performance of a mid-IR ZGP RISTRA OPO at 6.45???m is studied for a flat-top pump profile and compared to a Gaussian pump distribution at the same pump peak fluence of 0.81?J/cm2. Due to a coherent beam transformation a flat-top pump beam with a plane wavefront and excellent beam quality of M 2??1.25 is generated. The output of up to 5?mJ pulse idler energy (0.5?W average idler power) is identical in both cases, showing that flat-top pumping allows a reduction of the OPO crystal volume by 55?% while still maintaining a good output beam quality of M 2<2.7 for the idler and M 2<2.5 for the signal. The experimental results are compared to the SNLO RISTRA model and the limitations of the model are discussed.  相似文献

A passively Q-switched intracavity optical parametric oscillator based on KTiOAsO4 (KTA) crystal is studied theoretically and experimentally. The rate-equation-based theoretical model is established to describe the time evolutions of the population inversion density of the laser crystal, ground-state population density of the saturable absorber, fundamental photon density, signal photon density and the idler photon density. In the experiment, a laser diode-end pumped, passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTA IOPO with a Cr4+:YAG crystal as the saturable absorber is realized to verify this model. The characteristics including the output power, the pulse repetition rate, the pulse width and the beam quality were investigated for this OPO. The experimental results for the output power and the repetition rate agree with the theory well. And both results show that with same pumping level the idler pulse width is shorter than the signal one.  相似文献

An idler-resonant KTiOAsO4 (KTA) optical parametric oscillator is demonstrated within a diode-end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. With an X-cut KTA crystal, idler wave at 3467 nm and signal wave at 1535 nm are generated. Under an incident diode pump power of 15.4 W, the idler output power of 105 mW and signal power of 720 mW are obtained at a pulse repetition rate of 40 kHz. The pulse widths of the idler and signal waves are 7.2 and 3.1 ns, respectively. The beam quality factors (M2) of the idler wave are within 1.2 in both horizontal and vertical directions.  相似文献

We present a stable, high-power, fiber-laser-pumped, continuous-wave (cw), singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO) for the mid-infrared in an output-coupled (OC) configuration, providing 17.5 W of total output power at 61% extraction efficiency. Using a single-frequency, cw Yb fiber laser at 1064 nm and a 50-mm-long MgO:PPLN crystal, through optimization of signal output coupling we generate up to 9.8 W of signal power in the near-infrared together with 7.7 W of idler power for 28.6 W of pump, while in the absence of output coupling, 8.6 W of idler power is generated for the same pump power at 30% efficiency. The SRO is tunable over 360 nm in the idler range. The deployment of signal output coupling results in a total tuning of 513 nm (120 nm of signal, 393 nm of idler) over which watt-level output power can be extracted. Through careful control of thermal effects we achieve a long-term peak-to-peak idler power stability of 5% over 14 hours near room temperature. The output beams have TEM00 spatial profile with M 2<1.28 for the idler and M 2<1.37 for the signal.  相似文献

由于相位匹配条件和非线性晶体透光范围的限制,400nm蓝光抽运的飞秒β-BaB2O4(BBO)光参量放大(OPA)输出的参量光调谐范围有限,很难得到波长小于460nm的蓝光和近紫外光.实验采用1kHz钛宝石九通啁啾脉冲放大器的倍频蓝光作抽运光,超连续白光 作种子光,在Ⅰ类非共线相位匹配条件下,利用宽带的飞秒BBO OPA,在一定的实验参数下 获得了530—810nm放大的信号光,以及810nm—17μm波段范围的闲频光.与此同时 ,还获得了410—700nm连续可调的闲频光的二次谐波,其与闲频光层叠分布,单脉冲能量 为26μJ,转换效率大于5%.仅利用单块晶体的飞秒BBO OPA就可以获得410—810nm连 续可调的飞秒脉冲输出,从而为更多研究和应用的需要提供了重要的光源.对飞秒光参量放 大中闲频光二次谐波产生的条件也进行了理论分析. 关键词: 二次谐波 闲频光 非共线相位匹配 飞秒光参量放大  相似文献

We report the development and application of pulsed optical parametric generator (OPG) and optical parametric oscillator (OPO) systems that are injection seeded with near-infrared distributed feedback diode lasers. The OPG is injection seeded at the idler wavelength without the use of a resonant cavity. Two counter-rotating, beta-barium-borate (β-BBO) crystals are used in the OPG. These crystals are pumped by the third harmonic, 355-nm output of an injection-seeded Nd:YAG laser. An OPO version of the system has also been developed by placing two flat mirrors around the two β-BBO crystals to form a feedback cavity at the signal wavelength. The OPO cavity length is not actively controlled. The output signal beam from the OPG or OPO is amplified using an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) stage with four β-BBO crystals. The frequency bandwidths of the signal and idler laser radiation from OPG/OPA and OPO/OPA systems have been determined to be slightly greater than 200 MHz. The temporal pulses from each system are smooth and near-Gaussian. High-resolution optical absorption measurements of acetylene (C2H2) were performed as another check of the frequency spectrum of the idler beam. The frequency-doubled signal output of the OPO/OPA system was used to perform high-resolution, single-photon, laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectroscopic studies of the (0,0) vibrational band of the A 2Σ+X 2Π electronic transition of nitric oxide (NO) at low pressure. Excellent agreement was obtained between the theory and the experiment. The signal output of the OPG/OPA system was also used for sub-Doppler, two-photon LIF spectroscopic studies of the same vibration–rotation manifold of NO.This revised version was published online in August 2005 with a corrected cover date.  相似文献

We report a ZGP OPO system capable of producing >6 W at a signal wavelength of 3.80 μm and an idler wavelength of 4.45 μm. The pumping source is the Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser operated at 2.049 μm with an M 2 of 1.07. The ZGP OPO generated a total combined output power of 6.1 W at signal wavelength and idler wavelength under pumping power of 18.3 W, and an M 2 of 1.7 for OPO output was obtained.  相似文献

A high efficiency KTiOAsO4(KTA) intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) is demonstrated within a diode-side-pumped acousto-optically (AO) Q-switched two-rod Nd:YAG laser. With a 25-mm-long X-cut KTA crystal, efficient parametric conversions to signal (1.54 μm) and idler (3.47 μm) waves are realized. The highest output power of 15.8 W including 12.7 W signal and 3.1 W idler power is obtained at a repetition rate of 7.5 kHz and a pump power of 208 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of up to 7.6%. The signal pulse duration is 32 ns with a peak power of 53 kW. At a repetition rate of 12.5 kHz and the pump power of 208 W, the highest idler power of 3.4 W is obtained with a peak power of 14 kW and a pulse duration of 19 ns. And the beam quality factors (M 2) of the signal and idler waves are determined to be around 2 and 20, respectively.  相似文献

High brightness tapered laser diodes with different resonator geometries were fabricated and analysed. The devices consist of an index-guided straight section and a gain-guided tapered section. Lasers with a total length L = 2 and 4 mm and different length of the ridge waveguide L RW (500 μm ≤ L RW ≤ 1250 μm for L = 2 mm and 500 μm ≤ L RW ≤ 2000 μm for L = 4 mm) were processed to study the influence of the straight section on the spatial mode filtering. The power–voltage–current-characteristics, the beam waist, the far field, and the beam propagation factor M 2 were measured. From the experiments, it can be stated that the lasers with a small L RW reach higher output powers compared to those with larger L RW. Concerning the beam quality the length L RW should exceed a minimal value to guarantee efficient spatial mode filtering. Devices optimised concerning maximum output power and excellent beam quality reach a beam propagation factor smaller than 2.1 at an output power P = 2 W.  相似文献

A pulsed optical parametric oscillator (OPO) operated in an optical cavity with a grazing-incidence grating configuration (GIOPO) was used for sensitive photoacoustic detection of trace quantities of dinitrogen oxide (N2O). The (ν13) combination vibration band of N2O was excited with the idler beam of the GIOPO at 2.86 μm using an optical cavity optimized for the idler beam. The linewidth of the GIOPO could be reduced to 0.4 cm-1, allowing the rotational structure of the absorption spectrum to be resolved. A concentration sensitivity (signal-to-noise ratio=3) of 60 parts in 109 by volume (60 ppb V) N2O in synthetic air was obtained. This may be sufficient for continuous monitoring of N2O in the atmosphere. A few‐cycle, broadband, singly‐resonant optical parametric oscillator (OPO) for the mid‐infrared based on MgO‐doped periodically‐poled LiNbO3 (MgO:PPLN), synchronously pumped by a 20‐fs Ti:sapphire laser is reported. By using crystal interaction lengths as short as 250 µm, and careful dispersion management of input pump pulses and the OPO resonator, near‐transform‐limited, few‐cycle idler pulses tunable across the mid‐infrared have been generated, with as few as 3.7 optical cycles at 2682 nm. The OPO can be continuously tuned over 2179‐3732 nm (4589‐2680 cm‐1) by cavity delay tuning, providing up to 33 mW of output power at 3723 nm. The idler spectra exhibit stable broadband profiles with bandwidths spanning over 422 nm (FWHM) recorded at 3732 nm. The effect of crystal length on spectral bandwidth and pulse duration is investigated at a fixed wavelength, confirming near‐transform‐limited idler pulses for all grating interaction lengths. By locking the repetition frequency of the pump laser to a radio‐frequency reference, and without active stabilization of the OPO cavity length, an idler power stability better than 1.6% rms over >2.75 hours is obtained when operating at maximum output power, in excellent spatial beam quality with TEM00 mode profile. Photograph shows a multigrating MgO:PPLN crystal used as a nonlinear gain medium in the few‐cycle femtosecond mid‐IR OPO. The visible light is the result of non‐phase‐matched sum‐frequency mixing between the interacting beams.  相似文献

We report a 914 nm LD end-pumped high power, high beam quality (M x 2 = 1.378, M y 2 = 1.287) electro-optical Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser with TEM00-mode output. At the absorbed pump power of 67.6 W, a 31.8 W 1064 nm Q-switched laser with 43 ns pulse duration was achieved at 100 kHz repetition rate, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 47%. The maximum pulse energy and shortest pulse width were 1.67 mJ and 18.5 ns at 10 kHz, and the calculated peak power was 90.3 kW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest Q-switched output power ever obtained for a Nd:YVO4 oscillator pumped at 914 nm.  相似文献

The velocity dependence for the ionization of H2O and D2O to form H2O+ and D2O+ in collisions with both 23S and 21S metastable helium atoms has been measured in a crossed molecular beam apparatus using a mechanical velocity-selector on the metastable beam. The cross-sections are found to be proportional to the —n power of the relative collision energy, with n ? 0.4 for both metastable atoms in both gases. The branching ratios H2O+/OH+ and D2O+/OD+ were both found to be 4.3 for both metastable helium atoms, and to be independent of the relative collision energy.  相似文献

Large-area high-resolution displays, using a flying-spot to create the picture, require light sources in the red, green and blue wavelength range with a high optical output power and nearly diffraction limited beam. In this paper we present experimental results of high-brightness distributed Bragg reflector tapered diode lasers at 106x nm that can be used for single-pass second harmonic generation into the green. Based on these lasers we developed compact (2.5 cm3) green laser modules with an output power of 1W at 53x nm and an electro-optical conversion efficiency of about 5%. The output power stability is better than 2% and the wavelength stability is ±10 pm. The excellent beam quality M ?? 2 < 2 of the green light allows operation in flying spot application systems. Furthermore, we estimate that our concept allows power scaling up to 2W by using nonlinear planar waveguide crystals and into the multi-watt level by spectral beam combining.  相似文献

The Q-switched laser with triangle slab made of Nd:YAG crystal side pumped by 600-W quasi-cw diode laser stack has been designed. The multimode (M2≈2.6) output energy of about 42 mJ was demonstrated in free running mode for110-mJ pump energy. In Q-switch experiments, the KDDP Pockels cell was placed between the slab and rear mirror in plane-plane cavity with output coupler of 84% transmission. The energy of 8 mJ in 2.1-ns pulse duration was obtained for near TEM00 output beam. For passive Q-switching by means of Cr:YAG crystal of 12.6% unsaturated transmission, the energy of 5.1 mJ in 2.5-ns pulse duration was obtained for output beam close to TEM00 mode.  相似文献

In this paper we report on experimental results of an end-pumped Nd:YVO4 slab laser with a hybrid resonator. 110 W output power with beam propagation factor M2 of 1.3 and 1.5 in two orthogonal directions was obtained. A single resonator 8.30 μm ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric oscillators (OPO) was reported in the paper. The OPO was pumped by a 10.2-W Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser at 8 kHz in a Q-switch mode, a 170-mW idler was obtained at 8.30 μm, and the output power of the idler and signal wave was 1.0 W, corresponding to an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 10.3% and a slope efficiency of 20.9%. Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser was pumped by a 30-W fiber-coupled laser diode (LD) at the center wavelength of 801 nm. The output wavelength of Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser was at 2.05 μm, and the energy per pulse of 1.28 mJ in 18 ns was achieved at 8 kHz with the peak power of 71.1 kW.  相似文献

An optical parametric oscillator using a periodically poled LiNbO3 crystal and a volume Bragg grating output coupler is presented. Signal and idler wavelengths of 2008 and 2264 nm were generated from the 1064 nm Nd:YVO4 pump laser. The Bragg grating was reflecting in a narrow band around 2008 nm, creating a purely singly resonant cavity. Signal and idler linewidths of approximately 0.44 and 0.72 nm, respectively, were measured. This is a reduction of 80 and 60 times compared to when using a mirror as output coupler. A total output energy of 156 μJ was measured with 47% slope efficiency. In this paper, we describe a Nd:YLF laser based on high-speed RTP electro-optical cavity dumping technique. Two home-made 150 W fiber pump modules are used from both sides to pump Nd:YLF crystal. Coupling systems are the key elements in end-pumped solid-state lasers, the aberrations of which greatly affect the efficiency of the lasers. In order to get high efficient and good quality laser output, the optical software ZEMAX is used to design a four-piece coupling system. When the pumped energy is 32 mJ at the repetition rate of 1 Hz, the output energy is 6.5 mJ with 2.5 ns pulse width. When the pumped energy is 13.1 W at the repetition rate of 200 Hz, the output energy is 2.2 W with small M 2 factor where M x 2 is 1.04, and M y 2 is 1.05, and the light-light conversion efficiency is up to 16.8%.  相似文献
