A motion of slow and fast vortices in a waveguide-coupled Josephson junction induced by a transport current flowing through the entire structure is studied; the coupling is not assumed to be weak. For a fast vortex, conditions are established under which current oscillations due to energy dissipation via Cherenkov radiation of Swihart waves become comparable to the current compensating for ohmic losses in the Josephson junction, waveguide, and adjacent superconductors. For a slow vortex, it is proved that intermediate and strong couplings of the Josephson junction to the waveguide shift current oscillations to the velocity range below the Swihart velocity of the Josephson junction.  相似文献

Space-time nonlocal electrodynamic equations are derived for nonlinear vortex states of a Josephson junction in a film of thickness much smaller than the London penetration depth. The spectrum and damping of generalized Swihart waves propagating in such a junction are analyzed. The radiation damping constant associated with the possible emission of electromagnetic radiation is determined in the range of Swihart wave phase velocities exceeding the speed of light. The emission of radiation from nonlinear states having dimensions greater than the distance traversed by light in vacuum during the characteristic time of variation of the phase difference is investigated. It is shown that the flux density of radiation emitted by such states is localized in a plane orthogonal to the axis of the tunnel junction and depends weakly on the angle of observation in this plane. A generalization of the Sakai-Tateno-Pedersen model is proposed. This model is used to establish the existence of a discrete eigenvalue spectrum of the free-motion velocities of a Josephson vortex, or π kink, produced by the Cherenkov structure of extraordinary vortex-trapped Swihart waves having the spectrum (3.9). The dependence of the current across the Josephson junction on the vortex velocity was obtained, and, at comparatively high velocities, this was characterized by equidistant dips attributable to the Cherenkov resonant interaction of the vortex with Swihart waves.  相似文献

The dependence of bias current density through a junction on the velocity of a uniformly moving vortex carrying two magnetic flux quanta is established in the approximation of weakly nonlocal Josephson electrodynamics. It is shown that the velocity quantization of free motion of the vortex, which is induced by the Cherenkov interaction with Swihart waves, leads to the emergence of a discrete family of curves on the velocity-current plane.  相似文献

A theory is constructed for the current-voltage characteristic of a Josephson junction with a high critical current density described by nonlocal vortex electrodynamics in the approximation of small dissipation due to the single-particle conductivity of the Josephson junction. Current-voltage characteristics of the surface intrinsic Josephson junctions under a magnetic field parallel to CuO_2 planes have been studied experimentally. Fiske steps in such a junction have been observed. The Swihart velocity for the junction is found to be 7.2×10^5m/s, which corresponds to the velocity mode of a single junction.  相似文献

The Cherenkov radiation of generalized Swihart waves is investigated in connection with the slow motion of an Abrikosov-Josephson vortex, which corresponds to a 2 π kink in the phase difference of Cooper pairs on opposite sides of a tunnel junction. The radiative friction force acting on such a vortex is determined. An evaluation is made of the steady-state vortex velocity when the accelerating influence of an electric current through the Josephson junction is compensated by radiative slowing of the vortex due to Cherenkov radiation from the Abrikosov-Josephson vortex. Electromagnetic waves in a randomly inhomogeneous Josephson junction have been investigated by the averaged Green’s function method for a nonmonotonic decay of the correlations of inhomogeneities. Modifications of the spectrum and the decay of these excitations caused by spatial fluctuations of the critical current of the Josephson junction have been studied. The regions of the values of the frequency, the wave number, and the stochastic parameters of the medium, at which the waves have a negative group velocity, have been determined.  相似文献

The total velocity of solitary flexural waves nonlinearly increases with an increase in the velocity of domain walls and becomes saturated at a level of 20 km s?1; the smaller the wave amplitude, the more rapidly saturation occurs. Counter collisions of solitary flexural waves lead to the formation of a single wave with a difference amplitude moving in the same direction as the wave with a larger amplitude. The experimental results confirm that solitary flexural waves accompany antiferromagnetic vortices at domain walls in yttrium orthoferrite.  相似文献

采用分子动力学方法模拟研究了孤立波在重轻颗粒相间排列的一维复合颗粒链中的传播特性.结果发现,在轻重颗粒的质量比较大或较小时,散射作用较弱,颗粒的速度和孤立波的速度衰减较慢.在轻重颗粒的质量比为中等时,散射作用较强,颗粒的速度和孤立波的速度衰减较快.孤立波在通过重-轻颗粒界面时,存在有增速效应,可以提高孤立波的传播速度.并且,轻重颗粒的质量比越小增速效应越强.在散射作用和增速效应的共同作用下,改变轻重颗粒的质量比可以调控孤立波在重-轻颗粒链中的传播时间.  相似文献

The dynamics of fluxons in a long Josephson junction driven by time-varying nonuniform bias currents are described by a generalization of the sine-Gordon equation. This equation has solitary wave solutions which correspond to current vortices or quantized packets of magnetic flux in the junction. As with the sine-Gordon equation, multifluxon solutions may be demonstrated for the long Josephson junction. Our numerical calculations show that several fluxons may be launched or annihilated at the end of a junction. We also show multiple steady state conditions which correspond to one or more flux quanta trapped in the junction.  相似文献

By one-dimensional particle-in-cell(PIC) simulations, the propagation and stability of relativistic electromagnetic(EM) solitary waves as well as modulational instability of plane EM waves are studied in uniform cold electron-ion plasmas.The investigation not only confirms the solitary wave motion characteristics and modulational instability theory, but more importantly, gives the following findings. For a simulation with the plasma density 1023 m-3 and the dimensionless vector potential amplitude 0.18, it is found that the EM solitary wave can stably propagate when the carrier wave frequency is smaller than 3.83 times of the plasma frequency. While for the carrier wave frequency larger than that, it can excite a very weak Langmuir oscillation, which is an order of magnitude smaller than the transverse electron momentum and may in turn modulate the EM solitary wave and cause the modulational instability, so that the solitary wave begins to deform after a long enough distance propagation. The stable propagation distance before an obvious observation of instability increases(decreases) with the increase of the carrier wave frequency(vector potential amplitude). The study on the plane EM wave shows that a modulational instability may occur and its wavenumber is approximately equal to the modulational wavenumber by Langmuir oscillation and is independent of the carrier wave frequency and the vector potential amplitude.This reveals the role of the Langmuir oscillation excitation in the inducement of modulational instability and also proves the modulational instability of EM solitary wave.  相似文献

本文分析了放置于高Q谐振腔中的Josephson结、双结SQUID和单结超导环,当其Josephson频率ω=2eV0/h和腔的本征频率相等时,Josephson电流在一个磁通量子内可以产生多次阶梯或振荡的物理本质。指出对于Josephson结或双结SQUID,当ω=ωr时,被激发起的腔的本征振荡将反馈辐照结或SQUID,反馈场的频率作用使Josephson电流产生一般地感应台阶;而反馈场的振幅是受到外磁场调制的,当这种调制作用使反馈场振幅的空间部分与辐射场的空间部分匹配时,则引起电流在一个磁通量子内产生一系列的新的阶跃。对单结超导环,当nω=ωr时,被激发起的腔的振荡反馈辐照作用将迫使其超流电流产生周期小于φ0的振荡。 关键词:  相似文献

We derive the basic equations of nonlocal Josephson electrodynamics, valid for any ratios of the characteristic scale of phase-difference variations and junction thickness.
