The development of a coaxial-cavity gyrotron operating in TE31,17 mode at 165 GHz is presented. The selection of the operating frequency and mode are based on the limitations imposed by the maximum held of the superconducting (sc) magnet at Forschungzentrum Karlsruhe, Institut fur Technische Physik (FZK), the use of the inverse-magnetron injection gun (IMIG) of the 140-GHz, TE28,16 coaxial gyrotron and the possibility of transforming the cavity mode to a whispering gallery mode (WGM) appropriate for the dual-beam quasioptical (q.o.) output coupler and the two output windows, which are foreseen for the next lateral output version of the tube. The tube with axial output has been tested at FZK to deliver maximum output power of 1.17 MW in the designed TE31,17 mode with 26.7% efficiency at 164.98 GHz. Maximum efficiency of 28.2% was achieved at 0.9-MW output power. The design operating point with output power 1.36 MW and 36.7% efficiency was net accessible because of beam instabilities at high electron-velocity ratio α, presumably caused due to high electron-velocity spread. Power at higher frequencies was also detected: 1.02 MW at 167.16 GHz in TE32,17 mode with 26.88 efficiency, 0.63 MW at 169.46 GHz in TE33,17 mode with 18% efficiency, and 0.35 MW at 171.80 GHz in TE31,17 mode with 13.3% efficiency  相似文献

报道了聚变应用的MW级双频(105/140 GHz)回旋管的最新实验进展。该回旋管的谐振腔、准光模式变换器、输出窗采用了双频共用的设计,电子枪采用了双频复用的双阳极磁控注入枪,收集极采用单极降压。最新的实验表明:在重频1 Hz短脉冲条件下,在105 GHz点和140 GHz点,测试得到脉冲功率分别为710 kW和1.057 MW,对应总效率分别为34%和49%。这是国内首次在回旋管实验中实现1.0 MW功率输出。  相似文献

中国工程物理研究院应用电子学研究所的一些实验表明由阳极反射板、阳极网和阴极发射的电子束形成的环状虚阴极围成的准谐振腔是决定同轴虚阴极输出微波功率和传输模式的关键所在. 在二极管电压350kV,电流23kA条件下,获得了500MW的微波输出功率,能量转换效率约6.2%,工作频率3.3GHz,输出微波主要由TM01模式和TE11模式组成. 对同轴虚阴极的谐振效应进行了分析. 关键词: 高功率微波 同轴虚阴极 谐振腔 模式竞争  相似文献

 介绍了中国工程物理研究院应用电子学研究所关于同轴虚阴极振荡器实验的最新进展。实验结果表明,带阳极反射板结构的同轴虚阴极振荡器比不带阳极反射板结构的同轴虚阴极振荡器输出微波功率更高,频谱更纯。在二极管电压350 kV,电流23 kA条件下,输出微波峰值功率500 MW,能量转换效率约6.2%,工作频率为3.3 GHz。对实验结果进行了理论分析。  相似文献

The design of a 170 GHz, 1 MW-CW gyrotron for electron cyclotron heating of nuclear fusion plasmas is presented. The designed gyrotron incorporates a coaxial cavity to reduce mode competition, and a coaxial electron gun to support the cavity inner conductor. A new mode converter splits the generated wave into two beams and radiates them in different directions. The radiated beams are transmitted to two output windows through two mirror systems, being transformed into Gaussian-like beams. A single-stage depressed collector improves the overall efficiency of the gyrotron and reduces the heat flux to the collector surface.  相似文献

回旋管是最有希望应用于正在实施的国际热核实验反应堆计划的微波源器件,然而研究设计符合要求的回旋管还存在很多困难需要解决.对170 GHz兆瓦级光滑同轴回旋管的注-波互作用进行了研究.选取模式谱相对稀疏的TE31,12作为工作模式,利用Matlab编制源程序,计算了同轴回旋管的注-波耦合系数、起振电流.在考虑电子速度零散、腔壁电阻率和单模近似的基础上,对光滑同轴谐振腔的优化设计和注-波互作用进行了仿真,给出了磁场、电压、电流和内导体倾角等参量与回旋管效率的关系.结果表明,电压和磁场对回旋管效率影响较大,电子速度零散对回旋管效率影响较小,因而可降低电子枪的设计要求.此外,优化内导体倾角和同轴谐振腔结构参数可提高注-波互作用效率,降低电子速度零散对互作用效率的影响,获得了约50%的电子效率及1.7 MW输出功率.  相似文献

为了打破传统单注回旋管只能产生较低功率的局限性, 本文基于自主研发的PIC粒子模拟软件CHIPIC 对110 GHz和220 GHz同轴腔双注回旋管进行全三维数值模拟研究. 在理论分析同轴双电子注电子枪设计模型和初始参数的基础上通过CHIPIC对其进行优化设计, 得到了具有横纵速度比为1.0, 最大速度零散约为5.4%的高性能电子束; 并将此优化后的双阳极双注电子枪取代传统回旋管数值模拟时采用的回旋 发射进行110 GHz和220 GHz双注回旋管整管的数值模拟, 并采用MPI四进程并行计算, 最终获得了具有双频分别为110 GHz和220 GHz、模式为TE02模、平均输出功率约在70 kW、 效率达到8.75%的高性能双注回旋振荡管. 关键词: 同轴腔双注回旋管 同轴双电子注电子枪 横纵速度比 速度零散  相似文献

The gyrotron system forECH and burn control onITER requires at least50MW ofRF power at frequencies near170GHz operating inCW. To meet these requirements, high efficiency gyrotron tubes with 1MW power output capability are necessary, as well as simple coupling to either a quasi-optical or waveguide transmission line. The paper reports the feasibility study on the design of anITER-relevant gyrotron oscillator at170GHz,1MW CW employing a diode electron gun, an advanced internal quasi-optical converter, a cryogenically cooled single disk sapphire window, and a depressed potential collector. A high-power transit-time oscillator producing 110kW at 5.7GHz in the TM010 cavity mode is described. The device comprises a temperature-limited diode electron gun operating at 40A in the range from 28kV to 35kV and an intermediate coaxial cavity from which the microwave power is extracted through a TEM coaxial guide. The diode serves also as a resonant cavity, where electromagnetic oscillations are grown from noise. The effect of the applied voltage on both the output microwave power and the instability saturation time has been investigated leading to an optimal diode voltage of 33kV.  相似文献

The operational features of a 140-GHz, transverse electric TE22,6 mode gyrotron oscillator with an advanced quasi-optical mode converter, a Brewster window, and a single-stage depressed collector at 140 GHz with an output power of 2.1 MW and an efficiency of 34% without depressed collector and 53% with depressed collector are presented. The high output power level is possible due to an almost reflectionless termination of the radio frequency (RF) beam line outside the tube. The scaling of operating parameters and the tendencies in the efficiency of the step-tunable gyrotron operating in a set of modes in a cavity of a given length are considered. Results of calculations are reported for the design of a ~1-kW, step-tunable gyrotron oscillator operating from 150 to 600 GHz in steps of about 15 GHz. Detailed results are presented for the efficiency, power losses in the cavity, and the starting conditions. Designs of the electron gun electrodes and of an output mode transducer are also presented. Full modulation of the radiation via the modulating anode of a magnetron injection gun is considered. The gyrotron would be of use for plasma diagnostics and spectroscopy, including electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR)  相似文献

An electron gun (80 kV / 75 A) for a 170 GHz coaxial cavity gyrotron has been designed, fabricated and tested. Special care has been devoted to the design of the technical part of the electron gun in order to avoid trapping of electrons, which may result in a limitation of the high voltage performance due to built-up of a Penning discharge which may limit the high voltage performance. The performance of the electron gun and electron beam has been found to be well in agreement with the design objective. A stable operation up to Ib = 80 A and Uc = 80 kV has been obtained without any observable beam instabilities. No limitations in high voltage performance due to built-up of a Penning discharge occurred. The influence of the type of electron flow on gyrotron performance has been studied experimentally. The maximum output power has been obtained for an intermediate type of flow.  相似文献

Continuous-Wave Operation of a 460-GHz Second Harmonic Gyrotron Oscillator   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We report the regulated continuous-wave (CW) operation of a second harmonic gyrotron oscillator at output power levels of over 8 W (12.4 kV and 135 mA beam voltage and current) in the TE(0,6,1) mode near 460 GHz. The gyrotron also operates in the second harmonic TE(2,6,1) mode at 456 GHz and in the TE(2,3,1) fundamental mode at 233 GHz. CW operation was demonstrated for a one-hour period in the TE(0,6,1) mode with better than 1% power stability, where the power was regulated using feedback control. Nonlinear simulations of the gyrotron operation agree with the experimentally measured output power and radio-frequency (RF) efficiency when cavity ohmic losses are included in the analysis. The output radiation pattern was measured using a pyroelectric camera and is highly Gaussian, with an ellipticity of 4%. The 460-GHz gyrotron will serve as a millimeter-wave source for sensitivity-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (dynamic nuclear polarization) experiments at a magnetic field of 16.4 T.  相似文献

A high-power gyrotron, employing an internal converter that produces a Gaussian-like output mode, has been designed and tested. The tube employed a TE22.6.1-mode interaction cavity that was designed for operation at a frequency of 110 GHz. An internal converter, consisting of an advanced launcher design and four mirrors, produced a Gaussian mode that had a relatively uniform profile at the tube output window to minimize the peak power density. Tests on the tube resulted in output power levels of 680, 530, and 350 kW for pulse durations of 0.5, 2.0, and 10.0 s, respectively. Measurements of the temperature of the output window were made during the long-pulse tests. Output power levels of 1 MW were achieved under short-pulse (1 ms) operation and the tube was operated at CW power levels in excess of 100 kW  相似文献

设计了导流系数1.53 P的电子枪,枪内场强低于22.1 kV/mm,阴极平均负载小于6.3 A/cm2;采用部分屏蔽流均匀场电磁聚焦系统,实现了对电子注的良好聚焦;设计了C波段/2模盘荷波导行波输出结构,采用CST软件对其色散特性、耦合阻抗进行了计算分析。首先以单间隙输出腔代替行波输出结构对5腔注-波互作用系统进行计算,确定了前4腔的设计参数,然后采用PIC模拟软件对具有盘荷波导结构的输出系统进行了三维模拟,获得了大于50 MW的输出功率,效率大于45%,饱和增益大于50 dB,盘荷波导结构间隙电压比单间隙输出腔下降30%,效率提高4%。  相似文献

A theoretical and experimental investigation of the operation of a harmonic gyrotron at submillimeter wavelengths is reported. Using a waveguide cavity with an iris at the output end of the straight section, 14 different second-harmonic modes were observed with frequencies of 301-503 GHz, output powers of 1-22 kW, and a 12-MHz emission frequency bandwidth. The highest output power was 22 kW, with a total efficiency of 3.5% at 467 GHz, and an output power of 15 kW with a 6% efficiency was obtained at 417 GHz. Research was conducted using a 65-75 kV up to 10-A electron gun with a 1/1.5-μs pulse length and a 4-Hz repetition rate, which produced a helical electron beam in magnetic fields of up to 14 T. 提出了一种新型径向三腔同轴虚阴极振荡器,并进行了数值模拟研究. 研究表明: 这种径向三腔结构在束波转换面进行电场调制,能够大幅提高束波转换效率;同时,由阳极栅网和径向三腔结构构成的谐振装置能有效地抑制模式竞争;另外,由于采用了同轴引出结构,在提高能量引出的同时还能有效吸收漂移管中被利用过的电子,因此这种新型虚阴极振荡器能够获得较高的输出功率. 模拟的电子束电压为400 kV,电流为50 kA,主频为4.5 GHz,峰值功率达到6 GW,平均输出功率为3.1 GW,束波转换效率达到15%. 关键词: 高功率微波 同轴虚阴极振荡器 粒子模拟 束波转换效率  相似文献

The results of two experiments with a gyrotron operating at the second gyrofrequency harmonic, using two active electron beams, are reported. The internal (additional) beam is coupled weakly to the field by a spurious mode. The currents of the two beams can be controlled independently. The output characteristics of the gyrotons are plotted for various beam currents. The additional beam substantially enhances the operating mode stability and makes an appreciable contribution to the output power. The maximum output power was 0.87 MW at 25% efficiency, beam currents of 57 A and 13 A, and voltage 60 kV. The highest efficiency was 40%. The results suggest that electron-optical systems with two active beams, regardless of some complications of gun design, are promising for short-wave gyrotrons to operate at the fundamental cyclotron resonance.
