简单介绍以激光 电子康普顿背散射原理为基础建立的康普顿背散射极化仪, 采用它能实时、 非破坏性地监测电子束的极化. 该项工作可作为上海激光电子γ源(SLEGS)低能γ束应用研究的内容之一. The Compton backscattering polarimeter is described briefly on the basis of the principle of Compton backscattering in this paper. The polarization of the electron beam can be measured and monitored on time and nondestructively. The project will be one of applications of low energy γ ray beam of SLEGS.  相似文献

Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source, a high intensity beam line of γ-ray, is expected to generate γ-rays up to the maximum energy of 22 MeV by Compton backscattering between a CO2 laser and electrons in the 3.5 GeV storage ring of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The luminosity of SLEGS γ-ray beam is estimated to be 7×107 A-1W-1s-1 in a optimized setup. Indirect measurement of cross section of the key nuclear-astrophysics reaction 12C(α,γ)16O and γ-ray-triggered transmutation of long-lived radioactive wastes are discussed based on the estimated SLEGS γ-ray beam properties.  相似文献

Laser Compton light sources are potential candidates for the next generation of high-brightness X or γ-ray sources. When increasing the laser power to obtain intense X-ray laser, nonlinear Compton scattering happens. Nonlinear Compton scattering of linearly polarized laser beam is discussed in this paper. A complete transition probability formula is introduced and the polarization properties of final photons are discussed for different conditions.  相似文献

Based on the facility of the Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source (SLEGS), the transmutation for nuclear wastes such as 137Cs and 129I is investigated. It is found that nuclear waste can be transmuted efficiently via photonuclear reaction triggered by gamma photons generated from Compton backscattering between CO2 laser photons and 3.5 GeV electrons. The nuclear activities of 137Cs and 129I are evaluated and compared with the results of transmutation triggered by bremsstrahlung gamma photons driven by ultra intense laser. Due to the better character of gamma photon spectrum as well as the high brightness of gamma photons, the transmutation rate of Compton backscattering method is much higher than that of the bremsstrahlung method.  相似文献

Polarized positrons can be created through electron-positron pair creation from circularly polarized gamma-rays. Laser-Compton scattering is an effcient method to generate circularly polarized gamma-rays. A high finesse 2-mirror optical stacking cavity had been installed on the straight section of the electron storage ring at KEK-ATF. A 1064 nm circularly polarized pulsed laser beam was stacked in the cavity. Polarized gamma-rays with a maximum energy of 28.3 MeV were produced via inverse Compton scattering of the enhanced laser pulse off an electron beam of 1.28 GeV. The number of generated gamma photons per collision was estimated by a photon detector. It was found that the experimental result was in agreement with the simulated value.  相似文献

We propose a slanting collision scheme for Compton scattering of a laser light against a relativistic electron beam. This scheme is suitable to generate an energy-tunable X/γ-ray source. In this paper, we present theoretical study and simulation of the spectral, spatial and temporal characteristics of such a source. We also describe two terms laser-Compton scattering (LCS) experiments at the 100 MeV Linac of Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, where quasi-monochromatic LCS X-ray energy spectra with peak energies of ~30 keV are observed successfully. These preliminary investigations are carried out to understand the feasibility of developing an energy-tunable quasi-monochromatic X/γ-ray source, the future Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source.  相似文献

We study the nonthermal emission of the Crab nebula in the bands from radio to TeV γ-ray on a simplified timedependent injection model. In this model, relativistic electrons in the Crab nebula consists of two components and their injected spectrum is a broken power law with different indices and a break energy. The relativistic electrons emit nonthermal photons through synchrotron and inverse Compton scattering off soft photon fields inside the nebula. The resulting spectrum calculated with the model is well consistent with the observed data ranging from radio to very high energy γ-rays for the Crab nebula, where the emission from radio to medium γ-rays is from electron's synchrotron emission, whereas the emission above ~ 100 MeV primarily comes from the inverse Compton scattering of the relativistic electrons on synchrotron photons.  相似文献

The production of the intermediate mass dileptons originating from the annihilation and Compton scattering of the jets and high energy photons (resolved photons) passing through the quark-gluon plasma is calculated. The contribution of the dilepton yield due to the jet-plasma and high energy photon-plasma interaction is pronounced compared to the thermal and Drell-Yan dilepton spectrum at intermediate mass. The ordinary spectrum of thermal and Drell-Yan processes is enhanced by the jet and photon-plasma mechanism. The numerical results match to the PHENIX data accurately in the intermediate mass region for Au-Au 200 GeV/A collisions at RHIC.  相似文献

通过对国际上中能核物理的发展,特别是前沿领域中的现状的回顾,阐述了利用在上海原子核所计划建造的第三代同步辐射加速器(SSRF)上建立新一代的激光 电子康普顿背散射γ射线源(SLEGS)从事夸克和胶子层次上的中能核物理研究的科学目标及研究内容. The proposed SLEGS (Shanghai Laser Electron backscattering Gamma Source) will be a circular and linear polarization, new generation, high quality γ ray source with Eγ=0.2-0.87 GeV. The major scientific focus of nuclear physics research at SLEGS will be investigations of the microscopic quark gluon aspects of nucleons , nucleon resonance states and nuclei to test and develop non perturbative QCD. 激光康普顿散射(Laser Campton Scattering, LCS)光源,是一种基于相对论电子束与激光光子相互作用的新型X-ray或Gamma-ray光源。它具有能量高、波长短、脉冲快和峰值亮度高的特性,已成为国际先进光源技术的重要选项之一。本文介绍了激光康普顿散射光源的产生原理、国内外发展现状以及目前国际上运行和在建的激光康普顿散射光源装置,其中重点介绍了上海光源二期正在建设的上海激光电子伽马源(Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source, SLEGS)装置,以及在这一光源装置上可以开展的核物理、核天体物理、核废料处理及核医学应用等研究。随着上海软X射线自由电子激光试验装置(Soft X-ray Free Electron Laser, SXFEL)升级为用户装置,以及未来十三五国家重大科技基础设施-硬X射线自由电子装置(Shanghai HIgh repetition rate XFEL aNd Extreme light facility,SHINE)的建设完成,基于直线电子加速器(LINear ACcelator, LINAC)的康普顿散射光源的伽马能量将会达到GeV量级的高能量。超短脉冲、高极化度、高通量的激光康普顿散射光源将迎来新的发展机遇,基于康普顿伽马光源的核物理、天体物理、粒子物理及应用基础研究也必将迈上一个新台阶。  相似文献

Laser Compton scattering(LCS) can generate X-rays or y-rays with high brightness and easy controlled polarization by applying high-peak-power laser pulses to relativistic electron bunches.One of the most promising approaches to short pulsed X-ray sources is the laser synchrotron source.It is based on LCS between picoseconds relativistic electron bunches and picoseconds laser pulses.A project of Shanghai laser electron gamma source with LCS method has been proposed on Shanghai synchrotron radiation facility.Before that,a prototype has been developed in the beamline of the linear accelerator at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.The LCS experiment was carried out by using the 107 MeV,5 Hz,1 ns,0.1 nC electron bunches from the linear accelerator and the 18 ns,10 MW peak power,Nd:YAG laser pulses.In this communication,we describe the details and report the first results of this experiment.  相似文献

The high laser intensity allows colliding-beam Compton scattering experiments of high-energy electrons with the photons of the red ruby laser light by which the latter are transformed intoγ-radiation photons. There is great interest in the generation of energy-tunable, bright, short-pulse X/γ-ray sources, which are required in various research fields. Laser–Compton scattering (LCS) is considered to be one of the most promising methods to implement this kind of X/γ-ray source. At the 100-MeV LINAC of the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, a 2-J, 8-ns, 1064-nm, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is brought to a slanting collision at 40° (44°) with an 112-MeV, 0.9-ns (rms) relativistic electron beam. We measured the LCS X-ray energy spectrum with a peak energy of 31.73±0.22stat±1.64syst keV and a peak width (rms) of 0.74±0.26stat±0.03syst keV. This preliminary investigation was carried out to understand the feasibility of developing an energy-tunable X/γ-ray source. Based on this study, the future Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source (SLEGS) at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) can be constructed to be not only an energy-tunable γ-ray source by guiding the laser incident angle from laser–Compton scattering, but also a high flux (~1010 photons/s or even higher) γ-ray source by adding a laser super-cavity.  相似文献

We study Compton scattering on the ground state of the hydrogen atom in the presence of an intense low-frequency electric field (the laser) of arbitrary polarization, for incident and scattered photons of energies around 15 keV. The adopted formalism is the nonrelativistic one developed by Voitkiv et al. [J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 36, 1907 (2003)] and applied by them for a circularly polarized laser. We explore the spectrum and the electron energy distribution in their dependence on the incident photon energy or electric field intensity, for different polarizations.  相似文献
