In the present of spin-orbit coupling weak localization inverts the sign of its contribution to the electrical resistance. The (normal) weak localization is due to the constructive interference of coherently back-scattered conduction electrons. Spin-orbit coupling rotates the spins of the partial waves in the opposite direction. The interference is, as an average destructive. Therefore the positive mangeto-resistance of metals with strong spin-orbit coupling demonstrates the destructive interference of rotated, spin 12, electrons.  相似文献

We study quantum transport of an interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a two-dimensional disorder potential. In the limit of a vanishing atom-atom interaction, a sharp cone in the angle-resolved density of the scattered matter wave is observed, arising from constructive interference between amplitudes propagating along reversed scattering paths. Weak interaction transforms this coherent backscattering peak into a pronounced dip, indicating destructive instead of constructive interference. We reproduce this result, obtained from the numerical integration of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, by a diagrammatic theory of weak localization in the presence of nonlinearity.  相似文献

We propose a novel scheme to trap a particle based on a delicate interplay between coherence and decoherence. If the decoherence occurs as a particle is located in the scattering region and subsequently the appropriate destructive interference takes place, the particle can be trapped in the scattering area. We consider two possible experimental realizations of such trapping: a ring attached to a single lead and a ring attached to two leads. Our scheme has nothing to do with a quasi-bound state of the system, but has a close analogy with the weak localization phenomena in disordered conductors.  相似文献

With the concept of negative photon and the K-photon J C model, we investigate analytically the effect of virtual photon field on the collapse revival effect of atomic inversion and squeezing of atom, we find that there is a significant effect of virtual photon field on atomic inversion and squeezing of atom; with the one-photon model as an example, we find that the squeezing of atom occurs periodically, the time and times of squeezing are only related to the resonance frequency and the amplitude of squeezing related to coupling constant of atom field, mean photon number and resonance frequency; also we show that the effect of squeezing of atom does not exist within rotating wave approximation if K≥3. Taking the approach of nearest-neighboring spectrum in the quantum chaos field, we investigate the properties of energy spectrum in one-photon JC model and show that the integrable region,non-integrable region and transition region of this system can be illustrated by a phase diagram;also we discuss the influence of interaction of atoms on spectrum and Δ3 statistics of adjacent energy levels, we find that the influence of interaction is little obvious in strong field but takes great important role in weak field.  相似文献

Certain tight binding lattices host macroscopically degenerate flat spectral bands. Their origin is rooted in local symmetries of the lattice, with destructive interference leading to the existence of compact localized eigenstates. We study the robustness of this localization to disorder in different classes of flat band lattices in one and two dimensions. Depending on the flat band class, the flat band states can either be robust, preserving their strong localization for weak disorder W, or they are destroyed and acquire large localization lengths ξ that diverge with a variety of unconventional exponents ν, ξ ~ 1 /W ν .  相似文献

The interplay between weak localization and conductance quantization through a narrow channel is considered. The “electrodes” are essentially two half planes with slight disorder. In this system weak localization results from a coherent echo in the electrodes towards the channel. Therefore one has an interesting mixture of dimensions, the channel being quasi-one dimensional and the electrodes being two dimensional. As a consequence the quantum interference correction to the conductance is non-universal.  相似文献

Coupled resonator optical waveguides (CROW) can significantly reduce light propagation pulse velocity due to pronounced dispersion properties. A number of interesting applications have been proposed to benefit from such slow-light propagation. Unfortunately, the inevitable presence of disorder, imperfections, and a finite Q value may heavily affect the otherwise attractive properties of CROWs. We show how finite a Q factor limits the maximum attainable group delay time; the group index is limited by Q, but equally important the feasible device length is itself also limited by damping resulting from a finite Q. Adding the additional effects of disorder to this picture, limitations become even more severe due to destructive interference phenomena, eventually in the form of Anderson localization. Simple analytical considerations demonstrate that the maximum attainable delay time in CROWs is limited by the intrinsic photon lifetime of a single resonator.  相似文献

In the ring-shaped Su–Schrieffer–Heeger(SSH)double-chain,the quantum interference between the two different electron tunneling paths of the upper and lower chains has an important influence on the electron transport properties of non-trivial topological edge states.Here,we have studied the electron transport signatures of non-trivial topological edge states in a ring-shaped SSH double-chain system based on the wave-guide theory and transfer-matrix method.In the ringshaped SSH double-chain with the upper chain being different from the lower one,it is demonstrated that the electron transmission probability displays the four and two resonance peaks associated with the non-trivial topological edge states in the weak and strong coupling regimes,respectively.Whereas in the case of the upper chain being the same as the lower one,the two transmission resonance peaks associated with the non-trivial topological edge states in the weak coupling regime are only found,and that in the strong coupling regime disappear that originated from the destructive interference between the two different electron tunneling paths of the upper and lower chains.Consequently,the variation of the number of transmission resonance peaks associated with the non-trivial topological edge states in the weak and strong coupling regimes suggests that an alternative scheme for detecting non-trivial topological edge states in the ring-shaped SSH doublechain system.  相似文献

We study the localization properties of the wavefunctions in graphene flakes with short range disorder, via the numerical calculation of the inverse participation ratio (IPR) and its scaling which provides the fractal dimension D 2. We show that the edge states which exist at the Dirac point of ballistic graphene (no disorder) with zig-zag edges survive in the presence of weak disorder with wavefunctions localized at the boundaries of the flakes. We argue, that there is a strong interplay between the underlying destructive interference mechanism of the honeycomb lattice of graphene leading to edge states and the diffusive interference mechanism introduced by the short-range disorder. This interplay results in a highly abnormal behavior, wavefunctions are becoming progressively less localized as the disorder is increased, indicated by the decrease of the average ?IPR? and the increase of D 2. We verify, that this abnormal behavior is absent for graphene flakes with armchair edges which do not provide edge states.  相似文献

We propose a special two-photon state which is completely transparent in a 50/50 beam splitter. This effect is caused by the destructive two-photon interference and shows the signature of photon entanglement. In the presence of the charged impurities, we study the weak localization effect by evaluating the quantum interference correction to the conductivity of Dirac fermions in graphene. With the inelastic scattering rate due to electron-electron interactions obtained from our previous work, we investigate the dependence of the quantum interference correction on the carrier concentration, the temperature, the magnetic field, and the size of the sample. It is found that weak localization is present in large size samples at finite carrier doping. Its strength becomes weakened or quenched when the sample size is less than a few microns at low temperatures as studied in the experiments. In the region close to zero doping, the system may become delocalized. The minimum conductivity at low temperature for experimental sample sizes is found to be close to the data.  相似文献

We study the nonreciprocal properties of transmitted photons in a chiral waveguide quantum electrodynamics (QED) system, including single- and two-photon transmissions and second-order correlations. For the single-photon transmission, the nonreciprocity is induced by the effects of chiral coupling and atomic dissipation in the weak coupling region. It vanishes in the strong coupling regime when the effect of atomic dissipation becomes ignorable. In the case of two-photon transmission, there exist two ways of going through the emitter: independently as plane waves and formation of bound state. Besides the nonreciprocal behavior of plane waves, the bound state that differs in two directions also alters transmission probabilities. In addition, the second-order correlation of transmitted photons depends on the interference between plane wave and bound state. The destructive interference leads to the strong antibunching in the weak coupling region, while the effective formation of bound state leads to the strong bunching in the intermediate coupling region. However, the negligible interactions for left-propagating photons hardly change the statistics of the input coherent state.  相似文献

A modified Young double-slit experiment proposed by Wootters and Zurek is considered in which a system P of parallel plates covered with a photographic emulsion has been set up in the region where we would normally expect the central interference fringes. Because under certain conditions P makes it possible to conclude with much more than50% certainty through which of the two slits each particular photon passed, the relevant interference pattern becomes blurred. It is proved that this implies a retroactive effect because the setup of P and the interaction of photons with P appear to influence the momentum transferred to the photons by the edges of the slits at an earlier stage of the experiment.  相似文献

The photon localization in disordered two-dimensional photonic crystal is studied theoretically. It is found that the mean transmission coefficient in the photonic band decreases exponentially as the disorder degree increases, reflecting the occurrence of Anderson localization. The strength of photon localization can be controlled by tuning the disorder degree in the photonic crystal. A simple geometry utilizing a laser-excited atomic beam as light source, and a nearby oscillating mirror, would permit the observation of a two-channel optical interference effect involving photons which can be localized predominantly in one channel by coincidence observations of the recoiling source atom. A sacrifice of the optimum conditions for photon interference is necessary even when photon localization in one channel is accomplished by an observation of the recoil atom. This necessity arises because the width of the slit defining the atomic beam, and with it the important optical source dimension, must be comparable to the optical wavelength to obtain the small uncertainty in initial total momentum needed for significant localization. Quantum mechanical calculations of the coincidence intensity and singles intensity as a function of mirror position are made for a source width of five quarter wavelengths and are compared to a classical optics calculation of the singles intensity. The coincidence intensity calculation, as expected, predicts a smaller interference effect than classical optics due to the photon localization. The singles intensity calculation also predicts the same reduction in the classical interference effect, as a consequence of the orthoganality of the final atom states.  相似文献

Fano resonances are well-known manifestations of the interference between a direct and an indirect ionization process. Here we report on a more complicated interference pattern observed in two-photon photoemission at the Si(100) surface. This two-dimensional Fano profile involves two discrete surface resonances which couple as initial and intermediate states to the silicon valence and conduction band, respectively. Tuning the photon energy across the surface resonance reveals asymmetric line profiles with pronounced destructive interference in the two-photon photoelectron intensities of both initial and intermediate states. The interference pattern is explained by an analytic extension of Fano's model to describe the coupling of two discrete states with two continua. This coupling strongly modifies the photoabsorption and is of general importance for light conversion in nanostructures and light-harvesting devices.  相似文献

The influence of weak localization on the Hanle effect in a two-dimensional system with a spin-split spectrum is considered. We show that weak localization drastically changes the dependence of a stationary spin polarization S on an external magnetic field B. In particular, the nonanalytic dependence of S on B is predicted for III-V-based quantum wells grown in the [110] direction and for the [100]-grown quantum wells having equal strengths of Dresselhaus and Bychkov-Rashba spin-orbit coupling. It is shown that in a weakly localized regime the components of S are discontinuous at B = 0. At low B, the magnetic field-induced rotation of the stationary polarization is determined by quantum interference effects. This implies that the Hanle effect in such systems is totally driven by weak localization.  相似文献

The shot noise of a parallel double quantum dot (DQD) system under the perturbation of microwave fields is investigated in the weak Kondo regime. Peak-valley structures exhibit in the differential conductance and shot noise, and side resonant peaks emerge around the Kondo peak due to the absorption and emission of photons. The shot noise is sensitively dependent on the adjusting approach through changing the gate voltages. Large resonant Fano factor accompanying photon-induced side peaks appear by simultaneously varying the two gate voltages. The photon suppression and enhancement of shot noise have been evaluated corresponding to the coherent and incoherent current correlation. The destructive interference causes the suppression of shot noise by changing the Aharonov–Bohm phase.  相似文献

We report an experimental observation of third-order nonlinear absorption by quantum interference in (87)Rb atoms cooled and confined in a magneto-optic trap. A coupling laser creates electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a multilevel Rb system in which the third-order nonlinear absorption is enhanced by constructive quantum interference while the linear absorption is inhibited by destructive interference. Our experiment demonstrates the EIT system proposed by Harris and Yamamoto [Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 3611 (1998)], which absorbs two photons but not one photon in the dressed-state picture.  相似文献
