We propose and experimentally demonstrate a method for temperature sensing using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS)-based slow light. The approach relies on temperature dependence of the Brillouin frequency shift in a fiber, hence the time delay of an input probe pulse. By measuring the delay, temperature sensing can be realized. We achieve temperature measurement in a 100 m single-mode fiber (SMF) using a cw pump. The main temperature-sensing range is ~18°C from the room temperature, limited by the SBS gain bandwidth. To apply the technique for measurement of a shorter fiber segment, a pulsed pump is used to introduce SBS slow light. Temperature sensing is achieved in a 2 m SMF with a main sensing range of around ~25°C. The scheme is easily implemented, exhibits a relatively high temperature sensitivity with a resolution better than 1.0°C, and is potentially applicable for distributed sensing.  相似文献

应用包含探测光、布里渊泵浦光及拉曼泵浦光相互作用理论模型,数值分析了基于拉曼放大的长距离布里渊光时域分析仪非局域化特性。结果表明:非局域化随探测光及拉曼泵浦功率增加而恶化;通过频分复用(将具有不同布里渊频移的光纤拼接)及时分复用技术(同时对布里渊泵浦及探测光进行脉冲调制),可有效缩短布里渊泵浦与探测光的作用距离,达到较理想的抑制非局域效应结果。  相似文献

近年来,随着分布式光纤传感技术在各大基础设施健康监测领域的广泛应用,人们对能够实现毫米量级精准定位和监测技术的需求日益增长.本文提出了一种基于宽线宽混沌激光的高分辨率分布式光纤测温技术.实验通过改变光反馈混沌源的偏振匹配态和反馈强度等外部参数,产生了–3 dB线宽约为7.5 GHz的宽线宽混沌激光,并在300 m传感光纤实现了空间分辨率为7.05 mm的分布式温度测量.同时,为了抑制光源线宽增加造成的布里渊增益谱恶化,在泵浦路中引入了时间门控技术,其中经脉冲调制后的泵浦光峰值功率提高了约9.5 dB,同时脉冲调制使混沌互相关锁定于脉冲持续时间内,从而布里渊增益谱的信号背景噪声比由约2.28 dB提升为4.55 dB,最终实现了空间分辨率为3.12 mm的分布式温度测量.  相似文献

受激布里渊散射(SBS)作为三阶光学效应广泛应用于激光组束、分布式光纤传感、布里渊激光器等领域。近年来,SBS脉冲压缩亦得到特殊关注。基于布里渊放大过程中的能量转移特性,SBS脉冲压缩技术能够将ns量级脉冲压缩至亚ns量级,峰值功率可提升1~2个数量级。系统介绍了SBS脉冲压缩基本理论,综合论述了SBS压缩器结构、增益介质、泵浦脉冲等因素对脉冲压缩特性的影响,并对SBS脉冲压缩发展趋势进行了展望,为今后SBS特性的研究提供了有益参考,也为高重频、高能量激光的获取提供了可行方案。  相似文献

针对布里渊光时域分析分布式传感原理和受激布里渊散射的特点,应用微波电光调制分布反馈式半导体激光器产生频移可调的探测光,和传感光纤中相反方向传输的脉冲激励光进行受激布里渊散射作用,当探测光和激励光的频率差在布里渊频移附近时,频移探测光和激励光产生受激布里渊散射,通过改变探测光的频移值,检测探测光功率信号,可得到沿光纤各处的布里渊频移,再利用布里渊频移和应变(或温度)的关系,计算得到沿光纤分布的传感量。设计了基于微波电光调制的布里渊光时域分析传感器实验系统,实现了25km的分布式温度传感,达到5m的空间分辨力和3℃的温度分辨力。  相似文献

A high-efficiency hybrid Brillouin/ytterbium fiber laser (BYFL) is demonstrated using a 41.5-cm-longhighly ytterbium-doped fiber and a 10-m-long single-mode optical fiber. The BYFL operates at 1 052.92nm, and the difference between it and the Brillouin pump (BP) wavelength matches the expected stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) Stokes shift. Its output power reaches 70.1 mW, which is more than seven times higher than the seeded BP power. The BYFL has an optical signal-to-noise ratio that is greater than 65 dB and has many potential applications, such as in controllable optical delay lines, sensing, and RF photonics.  相似文献

We propose and investigate an accurate method for the experimental measurement of the stimulated Brillouin scattering gain coefficient in optical fiber. The gain is extracted from measuring the transmitted pump power at the threshold of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) laser oscillation in a Fabry-Perot cavity formed by Fresnel reflection at the fiber ends. The method is free from a range of uncertainties and difficulties of commonly used approaches and is easy to implement. Experimental evidence of the variation of the SBS gain coefficient with numerical aperture of the fiber, first predicted in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 1879 (2000)], is proven.  相似文献

Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a perfluorinated graded-index polymer optical fiber (POF) with 120 μm core diameter was experimentally observed for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, at 1.55 μm wavelength with the pump-probe technique. Compared to spontaneous Brillouin scattering previously reported, the Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) was detected with an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio, even with a short POF (1 m) and scrambled polarization state. We also investigated the BGS dependences on probe power and temperature, which indicate that SBS in a POF measured with this technique can be utilized to develop high-accuracy temperature sensing systems.  相似文献

报道了一种基于双向拉曼放大的布里渊光时域分析系统(Brillouin optical time domain analyzer,BOTDA).利用双向拉曼抽运对信号光进行拉曼放大以补偿光纤损耗及布里渊抽运波的消耗,从而使光纤后端的测量分辨率得到改善,测量分辨率在整段传感光纤趋于一致,同时避免了调制不稳定性引起的频谱扩展,克服了传统BOTDA存在的信号强度指数下降的弊端,使传感精度得到进一步提高.实验实现了50 km传感距离, 温度分辨率达0.6 ℃,空间分辨率为50 m.实验测量并分析了基于双向拉曼放大的BOTDA信噪比和光功率分布特性. 关键词: 分布式光纤传感 受激拉曼放大 布里渊增益 布里渊光时域分析  相似文献

在布里渊光时域分析(BOTDA)光纤传感器中,由于受激布里渊散射的偏振相关性的影响,激励光和探测光的偏振态随机变化引起的信号起伏严重影响布里渊散射光信号的稳定测量。通过建立与偏振态有关的激励光和探测光的耦合方程,推导出接收探测光光强关于激励光和探测光偏振态的理论公式,并由此提出偏振扩展接收技术。理论分析表明,偏振扩展接收技术可以有效地抑制偏振相关信号衰落。通过对耦合方程进行模拟,验证了理论分析的正确性和偏振扩展接收技术的可行性。最后给出了采用偏振扩展接收的布里渊光时域分析实验结果,与理论分析和模拟具有较好的一致性。  相似文献

The effect of Brillouin slow light on distributed Brillouin fiber sensors (DBFSs) is studied. We demonstrate Brillouin slow light for a 1.2 ns pulse with peak powers (PS) from 3.3 to 56.2 mW on depletion of the pump power (PP) ranging from 1.3 to 83.2 mW in conventional optical fibers (SMF-28). Experiments show that, when pump power depletion is not negligible, for a given PP the Brillouin gain and delay time of a pulse decrease when PS increases in a long (> or =10 km) sensing fiber. The optimum pump beam depletion resulting from strong interaction of the pump and the probe in the fiber provides accurate temperature and strain information at a high spatial resolution. Our study reveals that at low PP the spatial resolution error caused by the pulse delay for a DBFS with centimeter spatial resolution is less than 5% of the pulse length.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a single passband, photonic microwave bandpass filter scheme based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in optical fiber. A single side band (SSB)-modulated probe and a single frequency, tunable pump beam that have been produced by the combination of conventional Mach-Zehnder modulators and fiber Bragg grating filters, are used for the generation of SBS phenomenon in a 1-km long highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted optical fiber. Using the proposed scheme a single microwave passband with a ∼26 MHz bandwidth is readily achieved over a radio frequency tuning range from 1.3 to 9.3 GHz. 自从2007年布里渊动态光栅被首次提出用于实现光存储以来,该技术得到了国际上的广泛关注和研究.布里渊动态光栅本质上是由相干声波场激发的折射率光栅,一般情况下两束抽运光(频率差等于光纤的布里渊频移)以相同的偏振态从光纤两端注入到光纤中,通过受激布里渊散射效应激发出相干声波场,即形成布里渊动态光栅.光纤布里渊动态光栅因具有全光产生、参数灵活可控的优点,已被广泛研究应用于光纤传感、光纤特性表征、光存储、全光信号处理、微波光子学和高精度光谱分析等.本文分析布里渊动态光栅产生和探测原理,重点探讨在高性能分布式光纤传感上的应用,这些应用包括高灵敏度温度和应变分布式传感、温度和应变同时解调、分布式横向压力传感、分布式静压力(气压或液压)传感、高空间分辨率分布式传感和高精度光谱分析.  相似文献

提出了一种利用布里渊光纤环形腔移频技术实现分布式光纤布里渊传感的方法.该方法基于布里渊光时域分析法原理,将一束单纵模运转激光器输出的激光分为两束|一束光入射布里渊光纤环形腔中产生窄线宽的受激布里渊散射光作为斯托克斯光,另一束光经过低频相位调制后作为泵浦光|斯托克斯光和泵浦光分别相向入射进入传感光纤,通过测量布里渊谱得到光纤温度或应变.利用该方法可将十几GHz的微波频率转化为兆赫信号频率进行探测处理,仅需一台激光器,因此系统结构简单、成本低,还可减小激光器频率波动对测量准确度的影响.实验验证了该方法的可行性.  相似文献

Distributed strain sensing with millimeter-order spatial resolution is demonstrated in optical fibers based on Brillouin optical correlation domain analysis. A novel beat lock-in detection scheme is introduced to suppress background noises coming from the reflection of Brillouin pump waves. 研究了光纤激光器前向抽运的S波段分布式光纤拉曼放大器中级联的受激布里渊散射(SBS)串扰现象。用窄光谱带宽(<100MHz)的可调谐激光二极管作为信号源,通过S波段分布式光纤拉曼放大器,当被放大的信号功率超过单模光纤受激布里渊散射的阈值时,出现了前向受激布里渊散射,这是传导声波布里渊散射在光纤放大器中放大的现象。随着拉曼放大器抽运功率的提高,在斯托克斯区,出现了两阶受激布里渊散射线,在实验中观测到偶数阶的受激布里渊散射谱线功率大于奇数阶的布里渊一瑞利散射线。当进一步增加拉曼放大器的抽运功率,出现了前向级联的多阶受激布里渊散射现象,拉曼放大器的增益下降,被放大的信号功率转换为受激布里渊散射,噪声变大。受激布里渊散射的串扰破坏了拉曼放大器的特性,使拉曼放大器无法在密集波分复用光纤传输系统中使用,因此需要严格地控制入纤的信号功率和放大器的抽运功率。在实验中还观测到在光纤拉曼放大器中被放大的信号光和受激布里渊散射线两侧的伴线。  相似文献

We report on an experimental analysis of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a 20-m-long highly birefringent microstructure fiber for sensing applications. In particular, an experimental setup based on Brillouin optical frequency-domain analysis, operating at a wavelength of 1550 nm, has been employed in order to analyze the distribution of Brillouin frequency shift along the fiber, as well as to study the dependence of Brillouin frequency shift on optical polarization, temperature, and strain. Our results indicate that, for any fixed polarization, the fiber has a dual-peaked Brillouin spectrum. A study about the origin of these two peaks is presented.  相似文献

基于暗脉冲的布里渊时域分析仪系统中泵浦光和探测光的功率较高,相互作用强烈,严重限制了系统的有效传感距离。而现有的系统众多采用利用多段具有不同布里渊散射频率的光纤相互连接延长传感距离的方法,降低每段光纤上的受激布里渊散射效应,延长有效传感距离,但这种方案会增加的系统的复杂度,影响实际应用.本文提出一种简单的暗脉冲光布里渊时域分析仪的结构,可在满足高空间分辨率的条件下,有效的延长系统的传感距离,取代通常的利用多段具有不同布里渊散射频率的光纤相互连接延长传感距离的方法.利用基于光抑制载波的技术,产生具有两个边带的斯托克斯光.斯托克斯光的两个边带和泵浦光相互作用,同时激发布里渊散射增益和衰减效应,在接收端利用两者接收信号的差,可抵消原有暗脉冲泵浦信号中准连续光对传感距离的影响,从而有效地延长系统的传感距离,并利用数值仿真的方法验证了此方法的有效性.  相似文献

为了避免在高功率光纤放大器和光纤相位共轭镜等实际应用中因受激Brillouin散射(SBS)造成的光纤损伤,根据描述SBS动态弛豫振荡特性的振幅耦合方程,利用有限差分的数值模拟方法研究了光纤中SBS的动态弛豫振荡特性,并对其抑制进行了初步探讨.得到了光纤中SBS弛豫振荡在不同的脉冲上升时间的时空三维图;同时利用方波和脉冲光作抽运光进行了相应实验研究,实验结果与理论模拟结果符合很好.结果表明,增大抽运光脉冲上升时间可以有效抑制因SBS而产生的弛豫振荡,进而避免因其造成的光纤损伤. 关键词: 受激Brillouin散射 动态弛豫振荡特性 有限差分法  相似文献

A single-mode polarization-maintaining fiber doped to increase the Raman gain while suppressing stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) was utilized in a single-stage counter-pumped Raman fiber amplifier. The SBS suppression was achieved through the acoustic tailoring of the core. A pump probe experiment was conducted to characterize the Brillouin gain and indicated the existence of multiple Brillouin peaks. When the amplifier was seeded with approximately 15 mW of 1178 nm light, 11.5 W of cw output power was obtained with a linewidth ≤2 MHz. The application of a thermal gradient to further mitigate the SBS process increased the output power to 18 W, thus providing a net amplifier gain >30 dB.  相似文献
