This paper describes the investigation of autoionizing states near the first ionization limit of rare-earth element Dy. The 62, 51, 97 and 25 new autoionizing states resulting from the states of 4f10(5I8)6s6p(3P02)3I07, 4f9 (6H0)5d2(3F)(8G0)6s9G07, 4f9(6F0)5d6s2 7H07 and 4f95d6s2 7K07, respectively, were found by using a laser resonance ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (LRI-TOFMS), The photoionization efficiencies for different channels were compared with each other. In addition, the Shore-Fano parameters of autoionizing states were determined by a nonlinear fitting program.  相似文献

<正>Using the isolated-core-excitation scheme and three-step laser resonance ionization spectroscopy approach,this paper,for the first time,has systematically investigated the autoionization spectra of atomic Sm,belonging to the 4f~66pnl and 4f~55d6snl(l=0,2) configurations.In the experiment,the first two tunable dye lasers are employed to excite the Sm atom from its initial state to the different 4f~66snl bound Rydberg states,then the third dye laser is scanned to drive the atom to the doubly-excited autoionizing states.With the above excitation scheme,the measured transition profiles of the autoionizing states are nearly symmetric,from which the level energies and widths can be easily obtained.  相似文献

The effect of a laser field on the cross section of photoionization of an atom by probe radiation in the region of closely lying autoionizing resonances is studied theoretically. The cross sections in the region of the overlapping autoionizing Rydberg states 5p 5(2 P 1/2)6d′ J = 1 and 5p 5(2 P 1/2)8s′ J = 1 resonantly coupled with the discrete state 5p 5(2 P 3/2)7p[1/2]1 in the xenon atom are calculated. The behavior of the shape and position of resonances in relation to the frequency and intensity of laser radiation is studied.  相似文献

Rydberg states of the odd-parity series 6p 2(3 p 0)n p of BiI are excited by a three-photon process. A two-photon dissociation of Bi2 into excited atomic states followed by a one-photon absorption leads to highly excited atomic Rydberg states up ton = 32. States of the even-parity Rydberg series 6p 2(3 p 0)nsJ=1/2,ndJ=3/2 andndJ=5/2 are also observed. In order to avoid the background caused by ionization of the bismuth molecules we performed a two-color excitation with pulsed dye lasers. With this experiment the 6p 2(3 p 0)npJ=3/2 Rydberg series could be resolved up ton=75. The increasing quantum defect of this series is due to a perturbing state close to the first ionization limit. By a MQDT analysis we obtain the energy of the perturbing state and a value of 58,761.68±0.1 cm?1 for the first ionization limit of atomic bismuth.  相似文献

The hyperfine structure of the transitions 4f3(4Io)5d 3I5 o–4f3(4Io)6p?5I5 (578.77 nm) and 4f3(4Io)5d 3I6 o–4f3(4Io)6p? (J=5) (587.04 nm) of 141PrII has been measured by collinear laser‐ion‐beams spectroscopy. This paper describes the investigation of the autoionizing states of AuI by exciting the states of 6d 2 D 3/2 and 6d D 5/2 with tunable dye lasers by means of a resonance ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (RI-TOFMS). Many new autoionizing states were found, a few of which have narrow-linewidths of about 0.1 cm–1. The photoionization efficiencies for different channels were compared. Among the autoionizing states found so far, the highest photoionization yield is given by two newly obtained states from the state 6d 2 D 5/2, 3683.6 cm–1 and 4636.5 cm–1 above the first ionization limit. In addition, the Shore-Fano profile parameters of several autoionizing resonances were determined by a nonlinear fitting program.  相似文献

We have examined the autoionization spectrum of xenon by resonantly enhanced three-photon ionization (2 + 1 REMPI) involving intermediate states 5p 56p[J = 0, 2]. The properties of the observed autoionization resonances change significantly with the choice of the intermediate state. For ionization via an intermediate state with predominantly 5p 5(2P3/2) core character, a strong continuum with embedded window-type 5p 5(2P 1/2)nd'-autoionization resonances is observed. For intermediate states, predominantly with 5p 5(2P1/2) core character, both 5p 5(2P 1/2)nd'- as well as 5p 5(2P 1/2)ns'-resonances are present in the spectrum as overlapping, nearly symmetric peaks on a rather weak continuum. Calculations confirm the significant dependence of the spectral lineshapes upon the excitation pathway to the autoionizing state. The ionization data are compared with spectra obtained by monitoring third-harmonic generation via autoionizing states without resonant excitation of intermediate states. These spectra also exhibit the signature of both the nd'- and ns'-resonances. Optical activity of xenon atoms in the vacuum UV range induced by circularly polarized laser light is studied theoretically. The optical activity arises in the vicinity of the autoionizing state 5p 5(2 P 1/2)8s′$ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 $ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 as a result of its coupling via the laser field with the discrete state 5p 5(2 P 3/2)7p $ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 $ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 . Polarization variations of the vacuum UV radiation upon its propagation through the atomic medium are calculated, and the possibility of controlling this polarization is discussed. Manifestations of nonresonant coupling of the discrete state with the broad autoionizing state 5p 5(2 P 1/2)6d′$ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 $ \left[ {\frac{1} {2}} \right]_1 induced by the overlap of the Rydberg autoionizing series in xenon are studied.  相似文献

The investigation of the samarium (Sm) atom autoionizing states, belonging to the 4f6 6pnl and 4f5 5d6snl (l=0, 2) configurations, has been carried out by using a three-step isolated-core-excitation (ICE) scheme. Fifty-seven new autoionizing states of the Sm atom have been observed in the energy region between 60,700 and 66,500 cm?1. These autoionizing states are classified into five autoionization series in the light of different ionization limits. In most cases, the transition profiles of these autoionizing states are nearly symmetric, from which the peak positions and widths can be easily obtained by Lorentzian-profile-fitting procedure. Some autoionizing states have multi-peak profiles whose spectroscopic properties are analyzed in order to understand the complicated structures.  相似文献

Photoelectron imaging technique has been applied to study (2 + 1) REMPI of atomic iodine through 8p Rydberg states around 253 nm. Full three-dimensional state-specific speed and angular distributions of the photoelectrons were recorded. The branching ratios among the different I+ levels revealed that the perturbation on (3P2)8p series is particularly large among the (3P2)np series. The violation of core-conserving ionization is attributed to the interactions between the (3P2)8p and (1D2)6p series. The photoelectron angular distributions were found to be well characterized by P2(cos θ) and P4(cos θ). A relatively high positive β2 and a relatively low β4 observed in (2 + 1) REMPI process indicated that the ionization process can be approximately considered as single-photon ionization via the weakly aligned (3P2)8p intermediate states.  相似文献

利用三步双色共振激发技术和三步三色孤立实激发技术,系统地研究了铕原子在42250—44510 cm~(-1)能域内的光谱特性,提供了该能域内56个束缚高激发态的光谱信息.为了能确定这些态的光谱归属,进行了两方面的探索:第一,观察能否利用孤立实激发技术,把处于这些态上的铕原子进一步共振激发到自电离态,从而推断这些态属于单电子激发的束缚Rydberg态还是属于双电子激发的价态,并对Rydberg态的电子组态进行了光谱确认;第二,通过计算这些态相对于各个电离阈的量子亏损并观察它们分别收敛于哪个电离阈,以便获取其主量子数的信息.最后,设计并采用了三种不同的激发路径,分别将原子布居到同一高激发能域并探测它们在该能域的光电离光谱.通过比较这些光谱的异同并结合上述激发路径所对应的跃迁选择定则,便可惟一地确定这些高激发态的总角动量.研究发现:所探测到的高激发束缚态只有三个属于单电子激发的束缚Rydberg态,其余都是价态.本文确定了这三个Rydberg态的电子组态和原子状态.  相似文献

Spectra of autoionizing states of the Sm atom in an energy region between 45948.9 cm-1 and 46943.6 cm-1 are systematically investigated by a three-color multi-step resonant excitation scheme with three different excitation paths.The three intermediate states,4f 66s7s 7F3,4f 66s7s 7F4,and 4f 66s7s 9F5 are employed for the three paths,respectively.Based on precise calibration of wavelength,the level energies of 112 autoionizing states are determined with the line widths and the relative line intensities of the related transitions.The possible influence of configuration interaction on the line shape of autoionizing state is also discussed.In addition,a unique value of J,the total angular momentum,is assigned to all detected states by comparing the three spectra obtained with the different excitation paths.  相似文献

We have studied possible candidates for laser cooling transitions in 169Tm in the spectral region of 410–420 nm. By means of saturation absorption spectroscopy, we have measured the hyperfine structure and rates of two nearly closed cycling transitions from the ground state 4f136s2(2F0)(Jg=7/2) to upper states 4f12(3H5)5d3/26s2(Je=9/2) at 410.6 nm and 4f12(3F4)5d5/26s2(Je=9/2) at 420.4 nm and evaluated the life times of the excited levels as 15.9(8) ns and 48(6) ns, respectively. Decay rates from these levels to neighboring opposite-parity levels are evaluated by means of Hartree–Fock calculations. We conclude that the strong transition at 410.6 nm has an optical leak rate of less then 2×10-5 and can be used for efficient laser cooling of 169Tm from a thermal atomic beam. The hyperfine structure of two other even-parity levels, which can be excited from the ground state at 409.5 nm and 418.9 nm, is also measured by the same technique. In addition, we give a calculated value of 7(2) s-1 for the rate of magnetic-dipole transition at 1.14 μm between the fine structure levels (Jg=7/2)↔(J’g=5/2) of the ground state which can be considered as a candidate for applications in atomic clocks. Due to the large absorption cross section for optical transitions into Rydberg and autoionizing states compared to non-resonant ionization, these states are of particular interest for use in efficient laser resonance ionization excitation schemes as used in Resonant Ionization Laser Ion Sources (RILIS). In order to identify these atomic states extensive laser spectroscopy has to be performed. The lasers employed at TRIUMF’s laser ion source are birefringent filter tuned titanium:sapphire (Ti:Sa) lasers which are designed for long term frequency stability rather than continuous tuning. The design and characteristics of a grating tuned, high repetition rate, pulsed Ti:Sa laser for spectroscopy applications are presented. This laser allows fast scans of up to 40 THz with a laser linewidth of approximately 6 GHz. First tests were performed by scanning across the Rydberg series of gallium.  相似文献

We report new studies of the odd parity autoionizing Rydberg series of strontium attached to the 4d( 2 D 3/2, 5/2) ionic limits possessing J = 1-3 based on the two-color three photon resonant excitation technique in conjunction with an atomic beam apparatus. Using the 4d 23 P 0 intermediate levels, we have been able to record the autoionizing Rydberg series of J = 1 whereas, from the 4d 23 P 2 intermediate level the series of Rydberg levels possessing J = 1, 2 and 3 have been observed. The level assignments and the line shapes simulations of the autoionizing resonances have been made using the multichannel quantum defect theory. Several two- and three-step schemes for resonance ionization of 93Nb with field ionization of Rydberg levels were investigated in the context of feasibility studies of using 93m Nb/93Nb isomer ratio determination for fast neutron dosimetry. Hyperfine structures of the states 4d 4(a 5 D)5p 4 D 1 2/0 , 4d 35s(a 5 P)5P 6 D 1 2/0 , 4d 35s(a 5 F)5p 6 F 1 2/0 , and 4d 35s(a 5 F)6s 6 F 1/2 of 93Nb were measured. The Rydberg spectra of the excitation schemes were measured and corresponding ionization limits estimated.  相似文献

Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Sources (RILIS) have become a versatile tool for production and study of exotic nuclides at Isotope Separator On-Line (ISOL) facilities such as ISAC at TRIUMF. The recent development and addition of a grating tuned spectroscopy laser to the TRIUMF RILIS solid state laser system allows for wide range spectral scans to investigate atomic structures on short lived isotopes, e.g., those from the element actinium, produced in uranium targets at ISAC. In addition, development of new and improved laser ionization schemes for rare isotope production at ISAC is ongoing. Here spectroscopic studies on bound states, Rydberg states and autoionizing (AI) resonances on scandium using the existing off-line capabilities are reported. These results allowed to identify a suitable ionization scheme for scandium via excitation into an autoionizing state at 58,104 cm???1 which has subsequently been used for ionization of on-line produced exotic scandium isotopes.  相似文献

Isolated-core-excitation (ICE) scheme and autoionization detection are employed to study the bound Rydberg states of europium atom. The high-lying states with odd parity have been measured using the autoionization detection method with three different excitation paths via 4f76s6p[ 8P5/2], 4f76s6p[ 8P7/2] and 4f76s6p[ 8P9/2] intermediate states, respectively. In this paper the spectra of bound Rydberg states of Eu atom are reported, which cover the energy regions from 36000~cm-1 to 38250~cm-1 and from 38900~cm-1 to 39500 cm-1. The study provides the information about level energy, the possible J values and relative line intensity as well as the effective principal quantum number n^* for these states. This work not only confirms the previous results of many states, but also discovers 11 new Rydberg states of Eu atom.  相似文献
