Diode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 laser with a single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber was demonstrated for the first time, to our best knowledge. The laser generated 19-ps pulses with maximum output power of 902 mW for the incident pump power of 6.5 W at the central wavelength of 1064 nm, giving an optical conversion efficiency of 14%. The continuous wave mode-locking conditions of single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber were analyzed and discussed.  相似文献

Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) absorber fabricated by vertical evaporation is used in passively mode-locked Yb3 +:Sc2SiO5 (Yb:SSO) ultrafast laser for the first time. The performance of Yb:SSO ultrafast laser with pulse width as short as 880 fs is studied and the average output power is 712 mW. To our knowledge, this is the highest output power of femtosecond lasers with SWCNT-SAs reported. In addition, we firstly demonstrate a passively mode-locked picosecond Yb:SSO laser without inserting any dispersion compensation device. The pulses width is as short as 5.4 ps and the output power is 940 mW.  相似文献

We report the first demonstration, to our knowledge, of passive Q-switched mode-locking in a Tm3+:YAP laser, operating in the 2 μm broadly spectral region formed with a compact Z-flod cavity. A transmission-type single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT–SA) is used for the initiation of the pulse generation. The repetition rate of the Q-switched envelope was 60 kHz at the pump power of 8.6 W. The mode-locked pulses inside the Q-switched pulse envelope had a repetition rate of ~92 MHz. A maximum average output power of 761 mW was obtained. The dependence of the operational parameters on the pump power was also investigated experimentally.  相似文献

We demonstrate a diode-pumped Nd:YAG ceramic laser with emission at 946 nm that is passively Q-switched by single-crystal Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. An average output power of 1.7 W is measured under 18.4 W of incident power using an output mirror with transmission T=4%. The corresponding optical-to-optical efficiency is 9.2%. The laser runs at a pulse repetition rate of 120 kHz and delivers pulses with energy of 14 μJ and duration of 80 ns, which corresponds to a peak power of 175 W.  相似文献

The Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) performance in a diode-pumped Nd:Lu0.2Y0.8VO4 laser with electro-optic (EO) modulator and GaAs saturaber absorber is investigated. In comparison with the solely passively QML laser with GaAs, the dual-loss-modulated QML laser with EO and GaAs can generate pulses with higher stability and shorter pulse width of Q-switched envelope, as well as higher pulse energy. At the repetition rate 1 kHz of EO, the pulse width of Q-switched pulse envelope has a compression of 89% and the pulse energy has an improvement of 24 times. The QML laser characteristics such as the pulse width, pulse peak power etc. have been measured for different small-signal transmittance (T0) of GaAs, different reflectivity (R) of output coupler and modulation frequencies of the EO modulator (fe). The highest peak power and the shortest pulse width of mode-locked pulses are obtained at fe = 1 kHz, R = 90% and T0 = 92.6%. By considering the influences of EO modulator, a developed rate equation model for the dual-loss-modulated QML laser with EO modulator and GaAs is proposed. The numerical solutions of the equations are in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

By simultaneously using an electro-optic (EO) modulator and a single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT-SA) in the cavity, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched Nd:Lu0.33Y0.37Gd0.3VO4 (Nd:LuYGdVO4) laser is demonstrated. At the incident pump power 11.43 W and f=2 kHz, the minimum pulse width 17.6 ns and the maximum pulse peak power 19,886 W can be obtained. The experimental results show that this doubly Q-switched Nd:LuYGdVO4 laser can generate shorter pulse width and higher peak power compared to the singly Q-switched Nd:LuYGdVO4 laser with only EO or SWCNT-SA.  相似文献

By using both the single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT-SA) and the electro-optic (EO) modulator, the stably doubly Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) operation of Nd:Gd0.3Lu0.33Y0.37VO4 laser has been demonstrated. The QML laser characteristics such as the pulse width, single-pulse energy, etc., have been measured for different modulation frequencies of the EO modulator (fe) and reflectivity (R) of output coupler. In comparison with the solely passively QML laser with SWCNT-SA, the experimental results show that the doubly QML laser can generate more stable and shorter pulses with higher pulse energy. At 9.24 W pump power, fe=1 kHz and R=93.5%, the doubly QML laser has compressed the Q-switched envelope pulse width 88% and improved the mode-locked pulsed energy 55 times.  相似文献

In this letter, a diode-pumped continuous-wave and passively Q-switched 1.06 μm laser with a novel composite YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was demonstrated for the first time. Theoretical calculations showed that the temperature distribution in YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was lower than that in GdVO4/Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 crystals under the same conditions. After optimizing the mode matching degree, a CW output power of 5.6 W of YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser was obtained at the incident pump power of 12 W when the output coupler with transmission of 30% was employed. Using Cr4 +:YAG crystals with initial transmission (T0) of 80% and 90% as saturable absorbers, the pulsed YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser characteristics were investigated. At the incident pump power of 12 W, the maximum average output power of 2.76 W and the maximum repetition rate of 189 kHz was achieved when T0 = 90% Cr4 +:YAG was used. The shortest pulse width was 28.1 ns when the initial transmission of the used Cr4 +:YAG was 80%.  相似文献

A low threshold Cr:LiSAF laser pumped with an inexpensive single-mode laser diode emitting 120 mW was passively mode-locked with a novel ultrafast saturable absorber mirror based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT-SAM). Pulses as short as 122 fs were achieved, tunable across 14 nm. A second pump diode coupled in polarization allowed to shorten the pulse duration to 106 fs, with up to 24-mW output power.  相似文献

A mini eye-safe KTiAsO4 intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) employing the shared cavity configuration and driven by a diode-end-pumped composite Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG laser is demonstrated in this paper. Under an incident laser diode power of 11 W, a maximum average output power of 424 mW at 1534 nm was obtained. The corresponding signal pulse width and repetition rate were 1.2 ns and 16.7 kHz, respectively. The fluctuation of the average signal output power over long-term operation was found to be ±3.0%. A theoretical model for the compact IOPO was also presented in this paper.  相似文献

Efficient eye-safe 1.6 μm monolithic laser was realized in a c-cut, 0.7-mm-thick Er3+:Yb3+:YAl3(BO3)4 microchip end-pumped by a quasi-continuous-wave 970 nm diode laser. At incident pump peak power of 20.4 W, a maximum output peak power of 2.6 W with a slope efficiency of 19% was obtained when the waist radius of pump laser beam was 220 μm. The spectra and profiles of output beam of the Er3+:Yb3+:YAl3(BO3)4 monolithic laser were measured. The influences of the waist radius of pump laser beam on the slope efficiency and threshold of the monolithic laser were also investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, the laser output power of a fast-axial flow CO2 laser was optimized with gas pressures ratio of CO2:N2:He using a genetic algorithm technique. The power of laser was increased from 500 W (un-optimized case) to 2200 W (simulated case), also experimentally the power has achieved the value of 700 W (optimized case).  相似文献

A diode end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTA intracavity Raman laser is presented. A KTA crystal with a size of 5 mm × 5 mm × 25 mm is used as the Raman active medium and its 234 cm?1 Raman mode is employed to finish the conversion from 1064 nm fundamental laser to 1091 nm Raman laser. A 2 mm thick Cr4+:YAG crystal is used as the saturable absorber. With an LD pump power of 7.5 W, the first-Stokes power of 250 mW is obtained with a pulse repetition frequency of 14.5 kHz. The corresponding diode-to-Stokes conversion efficiency is 3.3% and the pulse energy is 17.2 μJ. Pulse width is measured to be 12.6 ns and peak power is 1.4 kW.  相似文献

A passively Q-switched a-cut Nd:GdVO4 self-Raman solid-state laser with Cr:YAG saturable absorber was firstly demonstrated. The first Stokes at 1173 nm was successfully obtained. At the maximum incident pump power, the pulse width was about 1.8 ns and the repetition rate was 27.5 kHz. 586.5 nm yellow laser output was also realized by use of an LBO frequency doubling crystal.  相似文献

The highest average output power reaches 3.4 W using the Cr4+:YAG with initial transmissivity T0=95%. When the T0=90% Cr4+:YAG is employed, the maximum peak power of 31.4 kW with a pulse width of 8.3 ns at 946 nm is generated.  相似文献

Laser cutting characteristics including power level and cutting gas pressure are investigated in order to obtain an optimum kerf width. The kerf width is investigated for a laser power range of 50–170 W and a gas pressure of 1–6 bar for steel and mild steel materials. Variation of sample thickness, material type, gas pressure and laser power on the average cut width and slot quality are investigated. Optimum conditions for the steel and mild steel materials with a thickness range of 1–2 mm are obtained. The optimum condition for the steel cutting results in a minimum average kerf width of 0.2 mm at a laser power of 67 W, cutting rate of 7.1 mm/s and an oxygen pressure of 4 bar. A similar investigation for the mild steel cutting results in a minimum average kerf width of 0.3 mm at the same laser power of 67 W, cutting rate of 9.5 mm/s, and an oxygen pressure of 1 bar. The experimental average kerf is about 0.3 mm, which is approximately equal to the estimated focused beam diameter of 0.27 mm for our focusing lens (f=4 cm and 100 W power). This beam size leads to a laser intensity of about 1.74×109 W/m2 at the workpiece surface. The estimated cutting rate from theoretical calculation is about 8.07 mm/s (1.0 mm thickness and 100 W power), which agrees with the experimental results that is 7.1 mm/s for 1.0 mm thickness of mild steel at the laser power of 88 W.  相似文献

We present a high-power 1.53 μm laser based on intracavity KTA-OPO driven by diode-end-pumped acousto-optical Q-switched YVO4/Nd:YVO4 composite. The composite crystal was utilized for reducing the thermal effect, and the mode mismatch compensating OPO cavity was designed for efficient OPO conversion. The output power of eye-safe laser at 1535 nm was up to 4.4 W with the pump power of 27 W, corresponding to a diode-to-signal conversion efficiency of 16.3%. To our knowledge, this is the highest output power in diode-end-pumped circumstances. In the experiment, the strong yellow light generated by Raman conversion and frequency doubling in the KTA crystal was observed.  相似文献

Output performance of a continuous-wave (CW) laser diode end-pumped passively Q-switched Tm,Ho:YLF laser is demonstrated with a Cr:ZnS crystal as the saturable absorber. We particularly investigate the influence of saturable absorber's position in the resonator when the Cr:ZnS crystal is placed close to and far from the laser beam waist. We compare the experimental results at the two different positions, and find that the laser shows unusual output characteristics when the Cr:ZnS saturable absorber is placed close to the beam waist. The pulse width and the pulse energy almost keep constant, measured about 1.25 μs and 4 μJ respectively, when the pump power is changed in the range of 1–1.9 W. Moreover, the pulse repetition frequency can be tuned between 1.3 kHz and 2.6 kHz by changing the pump power. The output wavelength of the passively Q-switched laser shifts to 2053 nm from 2067 nm in CW operation.  相似文献

An analysis of the intense blue upconversion emission at 476 and 488 nm in Tm3 +/Yb3 + codoped Y2O3 under excitation power density of 86.7 W/cm2 available from a diode laser emitting at 976 nm, has been undertaken. Fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) variation of temperature-sensitive blue upconversion emission at 476 and 488 nm in this material was recorded in the temperature range from 303 to 753 K. The maximum sensitivity derived from the FIR technique of the blue upconversion emission is approximately 0.0035 K? 1. The results imply that Tm3 +/Yb3 + codoped Y2O3 is a potential candidate for the optical temperature sensor.  相似文献

We demonstrate the first Cr4+:YAG passively Q-switched c-cut Nd:YVO4 self-Raman laser at 1168.6 nm based on the Stokes shift of 816 cm−1. At the pump power of 4.7 W, the maximum output power of the Stokes line at 1168.6 nm is 270.5 mW, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 5.8%. The pulse width, pulse repetition rate, pulse energy and peak power are 8.8 ns, 35.8 kHz, 7.6 μJ and 0.86 kW, respectively. At the pump of 5.0 W, the Stokes line at 1097.2 nm based on Raman shift of 259 cm−1 also appears.  相似文献
