We show that with interface spin-orbit coupling, triplet pairing can occur in the half-metal/superconductor junction. The tunneling conductance is different from the usual Andreev reflection and strongly depends on the polarisation orientation. The probability of triplet pairing for different incident angles and zero-biased conductance are also calculated. The mechanism for the formation of the triplet pairing is that the interface spin-orbit coupling provides an effective spin-flip barrier, which couples all the transport modes in spin Nambu space. Because of its unique particle hole symmetry, this spin-orbit coupling interface effect is different from the spin-flip ferromagnetic barrier which induces zero-bias conductance vanishing and finite V-shape conductance within the energy gap.  相似文献

A weak link of two superconductors with s-type pairing through a ferromagnet has been theoretically investigated in the regime of a nonequilibrium spin-dependent distribution of electrons over energy levels in a ferromagnetic interlayer. It has been shown that, under the given conditions, the triplet component of the supercurrent-carrying density of states, which does not participate in the Josephson current transfer under equilibrium and spin-independent nonequilibrium conditions, is involved in the Josephson current transfer through the junction. In this case, the standard supercurrent transferred by the singlet component of the supercurrent-carrying density of states remains unchanged as compared to the case of the equilibrium distribution of electrons in the interlayer. An additional current transferred by the triplet component is controlled by a voltage that controls the specific shape and the degree of nonequilibrium of the electron distribution function in the interlayer. Depending on this controlling parameter, the additional current can substantially amplify or attenuate the standard supercurrent and also switch the junction between 0 and π states.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the spin transport properties of the Cooper pairs in a conventional Josephson junction with Rashba spin-orbit coupling considered in one of the superconducting leads. It is found that an angle-resolved spin supercurrent flows through the junction and a nonzero interfacial spin Hall current driven by the superconducting phase difference also appears at the interface. The physical origin of this is that the Rashba spin-orbit coupling can induce a triplet order parameter in the s-wave superconductor. The interfacial spin Hall current dependences on the system parameters are also discussed.  相似文献

The effect of Rashba spin-orbit coupling on the supercurrent in S-2DEG-S proximity junctions is investigated in the clean limit. A generalization of Beenakker’s formula for Andreev levels to the case of spin-orbit scattering is presented. Spin-orbit induced splitting of Andreev bound states is predicted for an infinite-width junction with nonvanishing normal backscattering at S-N interfaces. However, a semiclassical average of the Josephson current is insensitive to the Rashba coupling as long as the electron-electron interaction in 2DEG is neglected. This paper theoretically studies Josephson spin current through triplet superconductor/ferromagnet/triplet superconductor junctions. At the ferromagnet/superconductor interfaces, the ferromagnetic scattering potential gives rise to coupling between the Andreev bound states and lifts their spin degeneracy. These spin-split Andreev states carry the Josephson spin current through the junctions. The generated spin supercurrent can be controlled by the magnetization of a ferromagnetic thin layer and bias voltage across the junctions.  相似文献

Quasi-two-dimensional superconductors with tunable spin-orbit coupling are very interesting systems with properties that are also potentially useful for applications. In this Letter we demonstrate that these systems exhibit undamped collective spin oscillations that can be excited by the application of a supercurrent. We propose to use these collective excitations to realize persistent spin oscillators operating in the frequency range of 10 GHz-1 THz.  相似文献

We investigate the equilibrium spin transport in a ferromagnet/noncentrosymmetric superconductor (FM/NCS) junction where the NCS has a dominant triplet order parameter and helical edge state. Based on the symmetry analysis and numerical calculation, we demonstrate that there is a nonzero spin supercurrent flowing in the junction, which stems from the exchange coupling between the FM magnetization and triplet Cooper-pair spin. It is also found that a transverse spin current other than the helical edge spin current is flowing along the interface of the junction, and its polarization is related to the longitudinal spin supercurrent. Besides, an equilibrium Hall current is also shown to flow along the junction’s interface due to the broken time-reversal symmetry from the FM.  相似文献

We consider a ballistic Josephson junction with a quantum point contact in a two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling. The point contact acts as a spin filter when embedded in a circuit with normal electrodes. We show that with an in-plane external magnetic field an anomalous supercurrent appears even for zero phase difference between the superconducting electrodes. In addition, the external field induces large critical current asymmetries between the two flow directions, leading to supercurrent rectifying effects.  相似文献

By solving the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation, the influence of the interplay of Rashba spin-orbit coupling, induced superconducting pair potential, and external magnetic field on the spin-polarized coherent charge transport in ferromagnet/semiconductor nanowire/ferromagnet double barrier junctions is investigated based on the Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk theory. The coherence effect is characterized by the strong oscillations of the charge conductance as a function of the bias voltage or the thickness of the semiconductor nanowire, resulting from the quantum interference of incoming and outgoing quasiparticles in the nanowire. Such oscillations can be effectively modulated by varying the strength of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling, the thickness of the nanowire, or the strength of the external magnetic field. It is also shown that two different types of zero-bias conductance peaks may occur under some particular conditions, which have some different characteristics and may be due to different mechanisms.  相似文献

Motivated by the recent discovery of superconductivity on the heterointerface LaAlO3/SrTiO3, we theoretically investigate the impurity-induced resonance states with coexisting spin singlet s- and triplet p-wave pairing symmetries by considering the influence of Rashba-type spin-orbit interaction (RSOI). Due to the nodal structure of the mixed gap function, we find single nonmagnetic impurity-induced resonance peaks appearing in the local density of state. We also analyze the evolutions of density of states and local density of states with the weight of triplet pairing component determined by the strength of RSOI, which will be widely observed in thin films of superconductors with surface or interface-induced RSOI, or various noncentrosymmetric superconductors in terms of point contact tunneling and scanning tunneling microscopy, and thus shed light on the admixture of the spin singlet and RSOI-induced triplet superconducting states.  相似文献

Along the lines of Blonder, Tinkham and Klapwijk, we investigate the charge transport through ferromagnet/two-dimensional electronic gas/d-wave superconductor (F/2DEG/S) junctions in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit (SO) coupling and focus our attention on the interplay between spin polarization and spin precession. At zero spin polarization, the spin-mixing scattering resulted from Rashba SO coupling decreases the zero-bias conductance peak. Under spin polarization, spin precession introduces novel Andreev reflection, which competes with the effect of spin-mixing scattering. If the F layer is a half metal, the later effect is overwhelmed by that of novel Andreev reflection. As a result, the zero-bias conductance dip caused by spin polarization is enhanced, and at strong Rashba SO coupling, a split zero-bias peak is found in the gap. In an intermediate region where the two effects are comparable with each other, the zero-bias conductance shows a reentrant behavior as a function of Rashba SO coupling.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of the energy levels with two-dimensional ring confining potential in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction. The features of some low-lying states in various strengths of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction are investigated. The Rashba spin-orbit splitting can a/so be influenced by the width of the potential barrier. The computed results show that the spin-polarized electronic states can be more easily achieved in a weakly confined dot when the confinement strength for the Rashba spin-orbit interaction is larger than a critical value.  相似文献

We develop a semiclassical theory for spin-dependent quantum transport to describe weak (anti)localization in quantum dots with spin-orbit coupling. This allows us to distinguish different types of spin relaxation in systems with chaotic, regular, and diffusive orbital classical dynamics. We find, in particular, that for typical Rashba spin-orbit coupling strengths, integrable ballistic systems can exhibit weak localization, while corresponding chaotic systems show weak antilocalization. We further calculate the magnetoconductance and analyze how the weak antilocalization is suppressed with decreasing quantum dot size and increasing additional in-plane magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigate the Josephson coupling between two singlet superconductors separated by a half-metallic magnet. The mechanism behind the coupling is provided by the rotation of the quasiparticle spin in the superconductor during reflection events at the interface with the half metal. Spin rotation induces triplet correlations in the superconductor which, in the presence of surface spin-flip scattering, results in an indirect Josephson effect between the superconductors. We present a theory appropriate for studying this phenomenon and calculate physical properties for a superconductor/half-metal/superconductor heterostructure.  相似文献

When two superconductors are connected by a weak link a supercurrent flows determined by the difference in the macroscopic quantum phases of the superconductors. Originally, this phenomenon was discovered by Josephson for the case of a weak link formed by a thin tunnel barrier. The supercurrent I is related to the phase difference ϕ through the Josephson current–phase relation, I = Icsin ϕ, with Ic, the critical current, depending on the properties of the weak link. A similar relation holds for weak links consisting of a normal metal, a semiconductor or a constriction . In all cases, the phase differenceϕ =  0 when no supercurrent flows through the junction, and ϕ increases monotonically with increasing supercurrent until the critical current is reached. Using nanolithography techniques we have succeeded in making and studying a Josephson junction with a normal metal weak link, in which we have direct access to the microscopic current-carrying states inside the link. We find that the fundamental Josephson relation can be changed fromI = Icsin ϕ toI = Icsin(ϕ + π), i.e. to a π -junction, by suitably controlling the energy distribution of the current-carrying states in the normal metal. This fundamental change in the way these Josephson junctions behave has potential implications for their use in superconducting electronics as well as (quantum) logic circuits based on superconductors.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the spin-polarized transport in one-dimensional waveguide structure with spatially-periodic electronic and magnetic fields. The interplay of the spin-orbit interaction and in-plane magnetic field significantly modifies the spin-dependent transmission and the spin polarization. The in-plane magnetic fields increase the strength of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling effect for the electric fields along y axis and decrease this effect for reversing the electric fields, even counteract the Rashba spin-orbit coupling effect. It is very interesting to find that we may deduce the strength of the Rashba effect through this phenomenon.  相似文献

We have studied a quantum dot with Rashba spin-orbit interaction in noncommutative phase space. The energy eigenvalues are analogous to Landau energy levels. It is shown that this system is related with a physically realizable model of a quantum dot with Rashba spin-orbit interaction in a magnetic field whereby a relation is derived among the noncommutative parameters, spin-orbit coupling strength and magnetic field.  相似文献

The spin Hall and spin Nernst effects in graphene are studied based on Green’s function formalism. We calculate intrinsic contributions to spin Hall and spin Nernst conductivities in the Kane-Mele model with various structures. When both intrinsic and Rashba spin-orbit interactions are present, their interplay leads to some characteristics of the dependence of spin Hall and spin Nernst conductivities on the Fermi level. When the Rashba spin-orbit interaction is smaller than intrinsic spin-orbit coupling,a weak kink in the conductance appears. The kink disappears and a divergence appears when the Rashba spin-orbit interaction enhances. When the Rashba spin-orbit interaction approaches and is stronger than intrinsic spin-orbit coupling, the divergence becomes more obvious.  相似文献

We have found a manifestation of spin-orbit Berry phase in the conductance of a mesoscopic loop with Rashba spin-orbit coupling placed in an external magnetic field perpendicular to the loop plane. In detail, the transmission probabilities for a straight quantum wire and for a quantum loop made of the same wire have been calculated and compared with each other. The difference between them has been investigated and identified with a manifestation of spin-orbit Berry phase. The non-adiabaticity effects at small radii of the loop have been found as well.  相似文献
