We consider experimentally and theoretically the optical field dynamics of a five-emitter laser array subject to a ramped injection current. We have achieved experimentally an array that produces a robust oscillatory power output with a nearly constant π phase shift between the oscillations from each waveguide. The output power also decreases linearly as a function of waveguide number. Those behaviors persisted for pump currents varying between 380 and 500 mA with only a slight change in phase. Of note is the fact that the fundamental frequency of oscillation increases with injection current, and higher harmonics are produced above a threshold current of approximately 380 mA. Experimental observations and theoretical predictions are in agreement. A low dimensional model was also developed and the impact of the nonuniform injection current studied. A nonuniform injection current is capable of shifting the bifurcations of the waveguide array providing a valuable method of array tuning without additional gain or structural alterations to the array.  相似文献

Coherent beam combining of pulsed fiber lasers with hybrid phase control   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We demonstrate a scalable architecture for coherent combining of all-fiber pulsed lasers with hybrid phase control involving passive phasing and active phasing for the first time. Synchronized and passive phased pulsed laser array is built by intra-activity phase modulation. Active phase control on the passive phased pulsed laser array using stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithm provides stable in-phase coherent beam combining pattern in a turbulent atmosphere. The fringe visibility is increased from 0 two 0.43 and the power encircled in the main-lobe is 1.616 times increased when the system evolves from passive phasing to hybrid phasing. The architecture can be easily scaled up to high power by increasing power of each individual laser, number of laser elements and introduction of power amplifiers, which will lead a promising way for scaleable high power coherent beam combining of pulsed lasers.  相似文献

The effects of frequency mismatch on phase locking of two passively Q-switched lasers have been studied. Stable phase locking with a high degree of spatial coherence can be obtained for frequency mismatches that are less than the spectral linewidth of the laser pulses. As the frequency mismatch increases, the transition from the phase locked to the unlocked states is characterized by a gradual loss of coincidence of the pulses from the individual elements and a reduction in the fringe contrast in the combined laser beam. An explanation for observed phenomena based on the dynamics of the transverse modes of the laser array is provided.  相似文献

The mechanism for beam quality degradation in recently developed phase locking of high power solid state lasers, which is caused mainly by partially coherent property of element beam and partially phase locking of the laser array, is analyzed in detail. Analytical expression for propagation of partially coherent partially phase-locked laser array in turbulent atmosphere is obtained based on extended Huygens-Fresnel principle. The effect of coherence width, phase error and intensity of turbulence on the beam quality in the target-plane is studied in detail. The tolerance on phase error for laser array with different coherence property is analyzed. It is concluded that the laser array with better coherence is more sensitive to turbulence, and phase control can improve beam quality in the receiving plane only in the case when the element beam has good beam quality and propagates in weak turbulence.  相似文献

The dynamics of semiconductor lasers with photorefractive phase conjugate optical feedback are experimentally studied. Photorefractive fringes considered here are rather static compared with time fluctuations of laser output power. Therefore, it is expected that a semiconductor laser with photorefractive feedback shows similar dynamics to those with conventional optical feedback. We examine relaxation oscillation and external cavity modes of laser output power in the presence of photorefractive phase conjugate feedback. It is proved that the dynamics of photorefractive phase conjugate feedback are fundamentally the same as those of conventional optical feedback.  相似文献

研制了一台LD侧面抽运Nd:YAP腔内三倍频447.1 nm脉冲蓝光激光器.采用列阵高频激光二极管侧面抽运Nd:YAP晶体,使用V型折叠腔,LN晶体电光调Q,输出高峰值功率的1 341.4 nm偏振基频光.选取KTP晶体Ⅱ类临界相位匹配倍频,获得670.7 nm红光.使用LBO晶体Ⅰ类临界相位匹配把670.7 nm的倍频光与1 341.4 nm的基频光进行和频,获得三倍频447.1 nm的蓝光输出.实验结果表明:优化后的V型折叠腔,可提高非线性转换效率,在平均抽运功率92.4 W时,获得了平均功率887 mW、峰值功率17.7 kW、脉宽50 ns的偏振蓝光输出,光-光转换效率为0.96%.  相似文献

耦合激光器阵列可以通过激光器之间的倏逝波耦合实现相位锁定,是有望实现光束相干合成的方案之一。为了探究该阵列锁相状态的稳定性,分析了频率漂移对两路激光器阵列相位锁定状态的影响。通过对耦合激光器阵列动力学方程的数值研究发现,频率漂移将破坏激光器阵列的锁相状态,并引入相位噪声,导致输出远场光强分布不稳定; 研究还发现:倏逝波耦合能够对频率漂移的影响起到一定的抑制作用,但这种抑制只在频率漂移较弱时才有效,因此,如果将该阵列用于光束合成,加入相应的抗干扰措施还是很必要的。数值分析的结果还表明:频率漂移的低频成分对于阵列相位锁定状态的影响更为剧烈,因此,抗干扰措施应主要针对低频干扰来进行。  相似文献

A diffractive optical element (DOE) is used as a beam combiner for an actively phase-locked array of fiber lasers. Use of a DOE eliminates the far-field sidelobes and the accompanying loss of beam quality typically observed in tiled coherent laser arrays. Using this technique, we demonstrated coherent combination of five fiber lasers with 91% efficiency and M2=1.04. Combination efficiency and phase locking is robust even with large amplitude and phase fluctuations on the input laser array elements. Calculations and power handling measurements suggest that this approach can scale to both high channel counts and high powers.  相似文献

A novel scalable architecture for coherent beam combining with hybrid phase control involving passive phasing and active phasing in master oscillator-power amplifier configuration is presented. Wide-linewidth mutually injected passive phasing fibre laser arrays serve as master oscillators for the power amplifiers, and the active phasing using stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithm is induced. Wide-linewidth seed laser can suppress the stimulated Brillouin scattering effectively and improve the output power of the fibre laser amplifier, while hybrid phase control provides a robust way for in-phase mode coherent beam combining simultaneously. Experiment is performed by active phasing fibre laser amplifiers with passive phasing fibre ring laser array seed lasers. Power encircled in the main-lobe increases1.57 times and long-exposure fringe contrast is obtained to be 78% when the system evolves from passive phasing to hybrid phasing.  相似文献

It is shown that the interference between amplified spontaneous emission into the nonlasing supermode and the laser field of a semiconductor laser array causes spatial hole burning, which couples the dynamics of the amplified spontaneous emission with the laser field. In particular, phase locking between the amplified spontaneous emission and the lasing mode leads to the formation of a spectral triplet composed of in-phase relaxation oscillation sidebands and an out-of-phase line at the lasing frequency.  相似文献

报道了32路光纤激光相干阵列的相位锁定实验研究。搭建了32路光纤激光相干阵列实验系统,基于现场可编程逻辑阵列(FPGA)设计制作了高速高精度相位控制器。当相位控制器执行随机并行梯度下降(SPGD)算法对各路激光的相位进行锁定时,相干阵列输出的激光功率与不进行相位锁定时相比提高了约26倍。  相似文献

RF excited CO2 waveguide laser arrays with three different structures (one-dimension and two-dimension) are reported in this paper. The output character of far-field and near-field of those lasers have studies and the phase locking between the waveguide elements has discussed. The cavity length of waveguide laser array is 380 mm and the resonator is formed by placing a plane germanium coated gold mirror and a plane ZnSe output coupler. The laser is operated with filling static gas of He∶N2∶CO2∶Xe=3∶1∶1∶0.1 mixture at 1.06×104 Pa total pressure. High output power density is achieved and the output power is 30-w with an efficiency η=10%. The output power is limited by the maximum power of RF transmitter.  相似文献

A two-dimensional multi-lens array 350 mm in diameter with spherical element lenses has been tested to improve the irradiation uniformity of a high power glass laser for inertial confinement fusion (ICF). A circular shape for the element lens aperture is chosen to eliminate azimuthally asymmetric intensity distribution. An approximate flat-top intensity distribution is obtained with a lens array of 37 lenses. Beam patterns of a coherent laser and partially coherent light (PCL) with the random phase plate (RPP) and the multi-lens array (MLA) are measured in a GEKKO XII glass laser system. Spherical mode structure of the irradiation nonuniformity of 5.6% with MLA is estimated with cos3 θ distribution of absorption coefficient in the target plasma.  相似文献

In this paper we demonstrated and analyzed a high-power cw Nd:CNGG laser end-pumped by a fiber-coupled diode laser array in a convex–concave-type cavity. TEM00 mode output power of 1.63 W was obtained with 27% optical-to-optical conversion efficiency and slope efficiency of 44.5%. Thermal lensing and its variation with the incident pump power for this crystal have been measured. The coefficient for pump power induced diffraction losses of Nd:CNGG crystal have also been estimated for this laser configuration.  相似文献

Laser induced backside wet etching combined with the diffractive gray tone phase mask has been used for the fabrication of a micro-lens array with a single lens diameter of 1 mm and a micro-prism in quartz. The micro-lens array was tested as beam homogenizer for high power XeCl excimer laser yielding a clear improvement in the quality of the laser beam.The optimum fluence range for fabrication of micro-lenses by laser induced backside wet etching using 1.4 M pyrene in THF solution and 308 nm irradiation wavelength is 1-1.6 J/cm2. The etching mechanisms of LIBWE are based on a combination of pressure and temperature jumps at quartz-liquid interface.  相似文献
