本文建立了包括增益色散,受激喇曼散射,双光子吸收效应的理论模型,讨论了光孤子脉冲在光纤放大器中的传播.数值计算结果表明:在反常色散范围内,光孤子的放大是不稳定的.增益色散导致光脉冲对称分裂,而受激喇曼散射则导致不对称的分裂.在增益色散和受激喇曼散射的共同作用下可获得新的时域和频域特征.有限带宽的放大能抑制受激喇曼散射引起的自频移.本文对有啁啾的光孤子脉冲的放大也进行了分析. 相似文献

The semiclassical equations of SRS are derived by the following method: The many-level molecule is described by the Schrödinger equation and subsequently all amplitudes but those of the essential two levels are eliminated by approximate integration. Especially the case of equal group velocities for pump and Stokes wave is considered. Terms describing a frequency shift due to dynamical Stark effect and a change of refraction index by vibrational excitation can be removed by a suitable transformation. Under various, physically different, assumptions the system of molecular and field equations is reduced to the equations describing a quasimonochromatic pulse propagating in a resonant two-level system, and in this way we can find a rich manifold of solutions. E.g., the 2π-pulse of self-induced transparency can be transferred to SRS. By other assumptions we are led to equations defining the Bäcklund transformation for the sine-Gordon equation. The effect of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in fiber optic communications is considered. On one hand, SRS limits the launch power in a multiple-channel communication system; while on the other hand, SRS can provide optical amplification in the 1.3-μm and 1.55-μm windows. In most of the previous work these issues have been treated separately by using different assumptions. A solution is usually obtained by solving differential equations. We present a numerical method that involves the simultaneous solution of integral equations describing SRS in optical fiber. The method is general enough to be applicable for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), optic frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), and optical amplification. However, it is efficient and simple to program and uses just a few realistic assumptions. A WDM communication system with 10 optical channels in the 1.55-μm window is studied by using this method, The data rate is above 1 Gbps. The system parameters are such that the other nonlinear effects, such as stimulated Brillouin scattering and four-wave mixing, are less significant for the system. Launch power limitations imposed by SRS are investigated for IM / DD and coherent systems. The receiver dynamic range over the wavelengths of interest is an important factor in determining the launch power limitations. An optical amplifier in the 1.3-μm window is also analyzed. The two-pump technique is investigated. With pump power levels of about 500 mw 0-dB gain can be achieved for a 30-km repeaterless link. The effect of the generation of higher Stokes and anti-Stokes components of steady-state and transient stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) on the realization of quasi-phase-matching conditions in the course of generation of the first anti-Stokes SRS component is numerically analyzed by using a system of coupled equations derived with regard to diffraction effects. The calculations show that the application of a periodic layered structure in order to realize quasi-phase-matching conditions virtually does not reduce the anti-Stokes SRS efficiency and allows efficient conversion of pulses with a duration of 3 ns or longer. It is found that focusing of waves inside the medium allows partial compensation for diffraction spreading and provides for an increase in the efficiency of anti-Stokes SRS conversion, and, at a Fresnel number above three, the effect of diffraction on the realization of quasi-phase-matching conditions during SRS can be disregarded. 相似文献

We investigate the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in an ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier that outputs optical pulses with multi-ns-duration and multi-hundred-kW peak-power. The ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier is simulated by a model which is composed of a set of propagation-rate equations. The simulated results show that SBS and SRS will deform the output signal pulse in both the time domain and the spectral domain, and degrade the performance of the ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier seriously. It is shown in our simulation that the troublesome SBS can be effectively suppressed by broadening the signal linewidth to a critical value of 0.07 nm in our calculation, and the effect of SRS can be suppressed using a large-mode-area fiber with proper length. The model and the simulated results are very useful for designing an ultra-high-power ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier. 相似文献

Nonlinear wave equations describing the propagation of optical pulses of duration up to a period of electromagnetic oscillations in transparent media with uniaxial optical anisotropy are derived on the basis of a quantum-mechanical model of material response. The electron and electron-vibrational nonlinearities, electron and ion dispersion, and diffraction are taken into account. It is shown that the inclusion of the electron response alone leads to a system of two constitutive equations for the ordinary and extraordinary polarization components. When a pulse propagates across the optical axis, this system is reduced to an inhomogeneous model of the Henon-Heiles type and, hence, generalizes the Lorentz classical electron model. In order to take into account stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) processes, an anisotropic analog of the Bloembergen-Shen quantum-mechanical model taking into account the population dynamics of SRS sublevels is obtained. The generation of an extraordinary wave video pulse with the help of the high-frequency ordinary component in the Zakharov-Benney resonance mode is investigated. Some analytic soliton-like solutions in the form of propagating bound states of ordinary and extraordinary video pulses corresponding to different birefringence modes are considered and their stability to self-focusing is analyzed. 相似文献
