In this paper, we discuss the influence of ratio of minor to major axis on the propagation property and focusing performance of a plasmonic lens with variant periodic concentric elliptical slits illuminating under a Gaussian beam. In order to analyse the influence theoretically, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) numerical algorithm is adopted for the computational numerical calculation and the design of the plasmonic structure. The structure is flanked with penetrated slits through a 200-nm metal film (Au) which is coated on a quartz substrate. Tunability of focusing capability of the plasmonic lenses is studied by tailoring the ratio. Our calculation results demonstrate that the ratio of the elliptical slits greatly affects the focusing capability of the lense. The plasmonic lenses with concentric elliptical slits illuminating under a Gaussian beam have ultra-elongated depth of focus. These results are very encouraging for the future study of the plasmonic lens-based applications.  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation of weakly relativistic ponderomotive effects on self-focusing during interaction of high power elliptical laser beam with plasma. The nonlinear differential equations for the beam width parameters of elliptical laser beam have set up by using Wentzal–Krammers–Brillouin(WKB) and paraxial approximations. These equations have been solved numerically by using fourth order Runge–Kutta method to study the variation of these beam width parameters against normalized distance of propagation. Effects of variation in laser beam intensity,plasma density and electron temperature on the beam width parameters are also analyzed.  相似文献

Truncation manipulation is a simple but effective way to improve the intensity distribution properties of the phase-locked Gaussian beam array at the receiving plane. In this paper, the analytical expression for the propagation of the phase-locked truncated Gaussian beam array in a turbulent atmosphere is obtained based on the extended Huygens--Fresnel principle. Power in the diffraction-limited bucket is introduced as the beam quality factor to evaluate the influence of different truncation parameters. The dependence of optimal truncation ratio on the number of beamlets, the intensity of turbulence, propagation distance and laser wavelength is calculated and discussed. It is revealed that the optimal truncation ratio is larger for the laser array that contains more lasers, and the optimal truncation ratio will shift to a larger value with an increase in propagation distance and decrease in intensity of atmosphere turbulence. The optimal truncation ratio is independent of laser wavelength.  相似文献

The propagation characteristics of the Pearcey–Gaussian(PG) beam in turbulent atmosphere are investigated in this paper.The Pearcey beam is a new kind of paraxial beam,based on the Pearcey function of catastrophe theory,which describes diffraction about a cusp caustic.By using the extended Huygens–Fresnel integral formula in the paraxial approximation and the Rytov theory,an analytical expression of axial intensity for the considered beam family is derived.Some numerical results for PG beam propagating in atmospheric turbulence are given by studying the influences of some factors,including incident beam parameters and turbulence strengths.  相似文献

An orthonormal beam family of super Lorentz-Gauss (SLG) beam model is proposed to describe the higher-order mode beams with high divergence, which are generated by a high power diode laser. Here we consider the simplest case of the SLG beams, where there are four mutually orthogonal SLG beams, namely SLG00, SLG01, SLG10, and SLGll beams. The SLG00 beam is just the Lorentz-Gauss beam. Based on the Collins integral formula and the Hermite-Gaussian expansion of a Lorentz function, an analytical expression for the Wigner distribution function (WDF) of an SLG11 beam through a paraxial ABCD optical system is derived. The properties of the WDF of an SLG11 beam propagating in free space are demonstrated. The normalized WDFs of an SLG11 beam at the different spatial points are depicted in several observation planes. The influence of the beam parameter on the WDF of an SLGI 1 beam in free space is analyzed at different propagation distances. The second-order moments of the WDF of an SLG11 beam in free space are also examined. This research reveals the propagation properties of an SLGll beam from another perspective. The WDFs of SLG01 and SLG10 beams can be easily obtained by using the WDFs of Lorentz-Gauss beam and the SLG11 beam.  相似文献

We start from the intensity distribution of a standing wave (SW) laser field and deduce the classical equation of atomic motion.The image distortion is analyzed using transfer function approach. Atomic flux density distribution as a function of propagation distance is calculated based on Monte-Carlo scheme and trajectory tracing method.Simulation results have shown that source imperfection,especially beam spread, plays an important role in broadening the feature width,and the focus depth of atom lens for real atomic source is longer than that for perfect source.The ideal focal plane can be easily determined by the variation of atomic density at the minimal potential of the laser field as a function of traveling distance.  相似文献

In the framework of nonlinear wave optics,we report the evolution process of a dipole breathing wave in lossy nonlocal nonlinear media based on the nonlocal nonlinear Schr?dinger equation.The analytical expression of the dipole breathing wave in such a nonlinear system is obtained by using the variational method.Taking advantage of the analytical expression,we analyze the influences of various physical parameters on the breathing wave propagation,including the propagation loss and the input power on the beam width,the beam intensity,and the wavefront curvature.Also,the corresponding analytical solutions are obtained.The validity of the analysis results is verified by numerical simulation.This study provides some new insights for investigating beam propagation in lossy nonlinear media.  相似文献

This paper introduces Lorentz beams to describe certain laser sources that produce highly divergent fields. The fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is applied to treat the propagation of Lorentz beams. Based on the definition of convolution and the convolution theorem of the Fourier transform, an analytical expression for a Lorentz beam passing through a FRFT system has been derived. By using the derived formula, the properties of a Lorentz beam in the FRFT plane are illustrated numerically.  相似文献

The propagation of a hard X-ray beam from a partially coherent synchrotron source is simulated by using the novel method based on the coherent mode decomposition of Gaussian Schell model and wave-front propagation. We investigate how the coherency properties and intensity distributions of the beam are changed by propagation through optical elements. Here, we simulate and analyze the propagation of the partially coherent radiation trans- mitted through an ideal slit. We present the first simulations for focusing partially coherent synchrotron hard X-ray beams using this novel method. And when compared with the traditional method which assumes the source is a totally coherent point source or completely incoherent, this method is proved to be more reasonable and can also demonstrate the coherence properties of the focusing beam. We also simulate the Young’s double slit experiment and the simulated results validate the academic analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, polarization properties and propagation characteristics of polymer photonic crystal fibres with elliptical core and non-hexagonal symmetry structure are investigated by using the full vectorial plane wave method. The results show that the birefringence of the fibre is induced by asymmetries of both the cladding and the core. Moreover, by adjusting the non-symmetrical ratio factor of cladding $\eta$ from 0.4 to 1 in step 0.1, we find the optimized design parameters of the fibre with high birefringence and limited polarization mode dispersion, operating in a single mode regime at an appropriate wavelength range. The range of wavelength approaches the visible and near-infrared which is consistent with the communication windows of polymer optical fibres.  相似文献

Using tensor method, a new kind of light beams named elliptical cosh-Gaussian beam (EChGB) is introduced in this paper. An analytical propagation expression for the EChGB passing through axially nonsymmetrical ABCD optical systems is derived by using vector integration. The derived formula is easily reduced to the propagation formula of a fundamental Gaussian beam and that of a cosh-Gaussian beam passing through optical systems. Some numerical simulations are illustrated for the propagation properties of EChGBs through the nonsymmetrical optical transforming systems, and further extensions are pointed out.  相似文献

Based on the fact that a hard-edged elliptical aperture can be expanded approximately as a finite sum of complex Gaussian functions in tensor form, an analytical propagation expression for an elliptical cosh-Gaussian beam (EChGB) truncated by an elliptical aperture and passing through an axially nonsymmetrical optical system is obtained by use of vector integration. Furthermore, the analytical propagation expression for a truncated off-axial EChGB is derived as an application example. On the basis of the generalized diffraction integral formula for misaligned optical systems in spatial domain, an analytical propagation expression for the elliptical cosh-Gaussian beam (EChGB) passing through misaligned optical systems is obtained by using vector integration. Some numerical simulations are illustrated for the propagation properties of an EChGB through a misaligned optical transforming system with a misaligned thin lens. As an application example, the propagation of off-axial EChGBs passing through misaligned optical systems is studied, and further extensions are also pointed out.  相似文献

An analytical expression for arbitrary moments of the cosh-Gaussian–Shell beam in turbulent atmosphere is derived. As a special case, kurtosis parameters of collimated and focused cosh-Gaussian beam with and without turbulent atmosphere are studied in detail. It can be seen from the study that the kurtosis parameters of Gaussian beam do not remain constant in turbulent atmosphere. Similar to the kurtosis parameters of a cosh-Gaussian beam at source plane, the kurtosis parameters at focal plane without turbulent atmosphere are independent of the propagation distance and vary with the parameters of the beam. But the variation of the kurtosis parameters at focal plane is different from that at source plane. However, the kurtosis parameters of collimated and focused cosh-Gaussian beam both vary with the propagation distance and gradually converge to 3 along the z-axis in turbulent atmosphere. Compared with a collimated beam, the kurtosis parameters of a focused beam converge more quickly.  相似文献

Based on the propagation law of partially coherent beams, the closed-form propagation expression for partially coherent cosh-Gaussian (ChG) beams through an astigmatic lens is derived. The transformation and spatial shaping of partially coherent ChG beams through the astigmatic lens are studied and illustrated by numerical examples. It is shown that a suitable choice of the spatial coherence parameter and/or astigmatic coefficient, different beam profiles, such as Gaussian-like, flat-topped and bottle beam profiles, and beam profile with a central dip, at the geometric focal plane and at a certain plane are realizable.  相似文献

提出了一种基于轴棱锥产生零阶近似无衍射Mathieu光束的新方法,利用轴棱锥聚焦具有椭圆高斯振幅调制的平面波,得到近似零阶无衍射Mathieu光束.根据椭圆高斯平面波经轴棱锥衍射的衍射积分公式,对光强分布进行了数值模拟,依据几何光学模型计算了近似无衍射Mathieu光束的最大无衍射距离,并设计了实验对理论模拟的结果进行了验证.实验采用柱透镜和准直扩束系统变换圆高斯光束产生具有椭圆高斯振幅调制的平面波,用轴棱锥聚焦该平面波后得到近似无衍射Mathieu光束,实验结果与理论模拟和计算相符.  相似文献

Cosh-Gaussian beams are of practical interest because they are more efficient at extracting energy from conventional laser amplifiers, and they have some important applications because their profiles can closely resemble the flat-top field distribution by choosing suitable beam parameters of cosh parts. The fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is applied to treat the propagation of off-axial elliptical cosh-Gaussian beams (EChGBs). By the use of vector integration, the analytical expression for an off-axial EChGB passing through a FRFT system is derived in terms of tensor method. Based on the method of truncated second-order moments, the analytical expressions of the generalized beam propagation factor for truncated partially coherent cosine-Gaussian and cosh-Gaussian beams are derived. The beam propagation factors of the truncated partially coherent cosine-Gaussian and cosh-Gaussian beams depend on the acentric parameter, the truncation parameter, and the coherent parameter. The propagation of elliptical Gaussian beam passing through paraxial optical systems with aperture is investigated analytically by using tensor method. The approximate formula for propagation of elliptical Gaussian beam through hard apertured optical systems is derived based on the fact that the circ function can be expanded into a finite sum of complex Gaussian functions. The derived formula provides a convenient tool for treating the propagation and transformation of elliptical Gaussian beam through apertured optical systems.
