X‐ray absorption spectra at the K‐edge of copper have been studied in copper mixed ligand complexes having hydroxamic acid as one of the ligands. The X‐ray absorption spectra have been recorded at BL‐8 Dispersive Extended X‐ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) beamline at the 2.5‐GeV INDUS‐2 Synchrotron Source, RRCAT, Indore, India. The data obtained has been processed using EXAFS data analysis program Athena. The energies of the K absorption edge, chemical shifts, edge‐widths and shifts of the principal absorption maximum in the complexes have been determined and discussed. The chemical shift data have been utilized to estimate effective nuclear charge on the absorbing atom. The normalized EXAFS spectra have been Fourier transformed. The position of the first peak in the Fourier transform gives the value of first shell bond length, which is shorter than the actual bond length as a result of energy dependence of the phase factors in the sine function of the EXAFS equation. This distance is thus the phase‐uncorrected bond length and has also been determined by Lytle, Sayers and Stern's (LSS) graphical method. The results obtained from LSS and the Fourier transformation methods are comparable with each other. The first shell bond length has also been estimated by Lytle's and Levy's methods from the EXAFS data. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Ni dithiolene complexes Ni[S2C2(CF3)]2n (n = ?2, ?1, 0) ( 1 , 2 , 3 ) and a 1‐hexene adduct Ni[S2C2(CF3)2]2(C6H12) ( 4 ) have been examined by Ni K‐edge X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) and extended X‐ray absorption fine‐structure (EXAFS) spectroscopies. Ni XANES for 1 – 3 reveals clear pre‐edge features and approximately +0.7 eV shift in the Ni K‐edge position for `one‐electron' oxidation. EXAFS simulation shows that the Ni—S bond distances for 1 , 2 and 3 (2.11–2.16 Å) are within the typical values for square planar complexes and decrease by ~0.022 Å for each `one‐electron' oxidation. The changes in Ni K‐edge energy positions and Ni—S distances are consistent with the `non‐innocent' character of the dithiolene ligand. The Ni—C interactions at ~3.0 Å are analyzed and the multiple‐scattering parameters are also determined, leading to a better simulation for the overall EXAFS spectra. The 1‐hexene adduct 4 presents no pre‐edge feature, and its Ni K‐edge position shifts by ?0.8 eV in comparison with its starting dithiolene complex 3 . Consistently, EXAFS also showed that the Ni—S distances in 4 elongate by ~0.046 Å in comparison with 3 . The evidence confirms that the neutral complex is `reduced' upon addition of olefin, presumably by olefin donating the π‐electron density to the LUMO of 3 as suggested by UV/visible spectroscopy in the literature.  相似文献

The local structure of titanium in tektites from six strewn fields was studied by Ti K‐edge X‐ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) in order to provide quantitative data on Ti—O distance and Ti coordination number. The titanium in tektites possessed different coordination environment types. XANES spectra patterns revealed resemblance to high‐temperature TiO2–SiO2 glass and TiO2 anatase. All samples showed that the valence of Ti is 4+. Based on the Ti—O distances, coordination numbers and radial distribution function determined by EXAFS analyses, the tektites were classified into three types: type I, Ti occupies a four‐coordinated tetrahedral site with Ti—O distances of 1.84–1.79 Å; type II, Ti occupies a five‐coordinated trigonal bipyramidal or tetragonal pyramidal site with Ti—O distances of 1.92–1.89 Å; type III, Ti occupies a six‐coordinated octahedral site with Ti—O distances of 2.00–1.96 Å. Although Ti occupies the TiO6 octahedral site in most titanium minerals under ambient conditions, some tektites have four‐ and five‐coordinated Ti. This study indicated that the local structure of Ti might change in impact events and the following stages.  相似文献

An X‐ray Raman spectrometer for studies of local structures in minerals is discussed. Contrary to widely adopted back‐scattering spectrometers using ≤10 keV X‐rays, a spectrometer utilizing ~20 keV X‐rays and a bent Laue analyzer is proposed. The 20 keV photons penetrate mineral samples much more deeply than 10 keV photons, so that high intensity is obtained owing to an enhancement of the scattering volume. Furthermore, a bent Laue analyzer provides a wide band‐pass and a high reflectivity, leading to a much enhanced integrated intensity. A prototype spectrometer has been constructed and performance tests carried out. The oxygen K‐edge in SiO2 glass and crystal (α‐quartz) has been measured with energy resolutions of 4 eV (EXAFS mode) and 1.3 eV (XANES mode). Unlike methods previously adopted, it is proposed to determine the pre‐edge curve based on a theoretical Compton profile and a Monte Carlo multiple‐scattering simulation before extracting EXAFS features. It is shown that the obtained EXAFS features are reproduced fairly well by a cluster model with a minimal set of fitting parameters. The spectrometer and the data processing proposed here are readily applicable to high‐pressure studies.  相似文献

All‐optical modulation based on silicon quantum dot doped SiOx:Si‐QD waveguide is demonstrated. By shrinking the Si‐QD size from 4.3 nm to 1.7 nm in SiOx matrix (SiOx:Si‐QD) waveguide, the free‐carrier absorption (FCA) cross section of the Si‐QD is decreased to 8 × 10−18 cm2 by enlarging the electron/hole effective masses, which shortens the PL and Auger lifetime to 83 ns and 16.5 ps, respectively. The FCA loss is conversely increased from 0.03 cm−1 to 1.5 cm−1 with the Si‐QD size enlarged from 1.7 nm to 4.3 nm due to the enhanced FCA cross section and the increased free‐carrier density in large Si‐QDs. Both the FCA and free‐carrier relaxation processes of Si‐QDs are shortened as the radiative recombination rate is enlarged by electron–hole momentum overlapping under strong quantum confinement effect. The all‐optical return‐to‐zero on‐off keying (RZ‐OOK) modulation is performed by using the SiOx:Si‐QD waveguides, providing the transmission bit rate of the inversed RZ‐OOK data stream conversion from 0.2 to 2 Mbit/s by shrinking the Si‐QD size from 4.3 to 1.7 nm.  相似文献

Polycrystalline silicon (poly‐Si) films were fabricated by aluminum (Al)‐induced crystallization of Si‐rich oxide (SiOx) films. The fabrication was achieved by thermal annealing of SiOx /Al bilayers below the eutectic temperature of the Al–Si alloy. The poly‐Si film resulting from SiO1.45 exhibited good crystallinity with highly preferential (111) orientation, as deduced from Raman scattering, X‐ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy measurements. The poly‐Si film is probably formed by the Al‐induced layer exchange mechanism, which is mediated by Al oxide.  相似文献

The local structure around the indium atoms in uncapped and capped InxGa1?xN quantum dots has been studied by In K‐edge extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The samples were grown by metal organic vapour phase epitaxy. The EXAFS was successfully applied to study the structural properties of buried quantum dots which are not optically active. The analysis revealed that capping the quantum dots with GaN does not affect the bond distances of the In—N and In—Ga, but makes the In—In distance shorter by 0.04 Å.  相似文献

TheL 2,3 VV Auger transitions of Si, SiO2, and SiC have been measured and compared with the self-fold electron density of states. The data indicate that Auger matrix effects must be included to explain the structure of the Auger lines. A comparison with soft X-ray measurements of Wiech shows, that the measured Auger line shape is nearly identical with the self-foldK β emission band. The selection rules for X-ray emission lead then to the conclusion that mostlyp-like valence electrons are involved in the Auger transition. This result indicates the relative importance ofs andp states in Auger transitions which is in accordance with theoretical calculations of Feibelman et al.  相似文献

Energy‐dispersive X‐ray absorption spectroscopy is now a well established method that has been applied to a broad range of applications. At the energy‐dispersive EXAFS beamline of the ESRF, ID24, the recently achieved 5 × 5 µm focal spot combined with fast acquisition has allowed complex and non‐uniform samples to be mapped and images to be obtained where each pixel contains full XAS information. This method has been applied to a study under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature in a diamond anvil cell in transmission mode. The case study was the investigation of the Fe K‐edge XANES of (Mg,Fe)SiO3‐perovskite and (Mg,Fe)O‐ferropericlase on decomposition of the spinel‐structured olivine [γ‐(Mg,Fe)2SiO4] at 78 (3) GPa after laser heating at 2200 (100) K.  相似文献

The electron‐density distribution and the contribution to anomalous scattering factors for Fe ions in magnetite have been analyzed by X‐ray resonant scattering at the pre‐edge of Fe K absorption. Synchrotron X‐ray experiments were carried out using a conventional four‐circle diffractometer in the right‐handed circular polarization. Difference‐Fourier synthesis was applied with a difference in structure factors measured on and off the pre‐edge (Eon = 7.1082 keV, Eoff = 7.1051 keV). Electron‐density peaks due to X‐ray resonant scattering were clearly observed for both A and B sites. The real part of the anomalous scattering factor f′ has been determined site‐independently, based on the crystal‐structure refinements, to minimize the squared residuals at the Fe K pre‐edge. The f′ values obtained at Eon and Eoff are ?7.063 and ?6.682 for the A site and ?6.971 and ?6.709 for the B site, which are significantly smaller than the values of ?6.206 and ?5.844, respectively, estimated from the Kramers–Kronig transform. The f′ values at Eon are reasonably smaller than those at Eoff. Our results using a symmetry‐based consideration suggest that the origin of the pre‐edge peak is Fe ions occupying both A and B sites, where pd mixing is needed with hybridized electrons of Fe in both sites overlapping the neighbouring O atoms.  相似文献

This work reports an X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy study at the Ni K‐edge in the early stages of growth of NiO on non‐ordered SiO2, Al2O3 and MgO thin films substrates. Two different coverages of NiO on the substrates have been studied. The analysis of the XANES region shows that for high coverages (80 Eq‐ML) the spectra are similar to that of bulk NiO, being identical for all substrates. In contrast, for low coverages (1 Eq‐ML) the spectra differ from that of large coverages indicating that the local order around Ni is limited to the first two coordination shells. In addition, the results also suggest the formation of cross‐linking bonds Ni—O—M (M = Si, Al, Mg) at the interface.  相似文献

To obtain direct evidence of the formation of the Ni–Mo–S phase on NiMo/Al2O3 catalysts under high‐pressure hydrodesulfurization conditions, a high‐pressure EXAFS chamber has been constructed and used to investigate the coordination structure of Ni and Mo species on the catalysts sulfided at high pressure. The high‐pressure chamber was designed to have a low dead volume and was equipped with polybenzimidazole X‐ray windows. Ni K‐edge k3χ(k) spectra with high signal‐to‐noise ratio were obtained using this high‐pressure chamber for the NiMo/Al2O3 catalyst sulfided at 613 K and 1.1 MPa over a wide k range (39.5–146 nm?1). The formation of Ni–Mo and Mo–Ni coordination shells was successfully proved by Ni and Mo K‐edge EXAFS measurement using this chamber. Interatomic distances of these coordination shells were almost identical to those calculated from Ni K‐edge EXAFS of NiMo/C catalysts sulfided at atmospheric pressure. These results support the hypothesis that the Ni–Mo–S phase is formed on the Al2O3‐supported NiMo catalyst sulfided under high‐pressure hydrodesulfurization conditions.  相似文献

Earlymost Villafranchian fossil bones of an artiodactyl and a perissodactyl from the Milia excavation site in Grevena, Greece, were studied in order to evaluate diagenetic effects. Optical microscopy revealed the different bone types (fibro‐lamellar and Haversian, respectively) of the two fragments and their good preservation state. The spatial distribution of bone apatite and soil‐originating elements was studied using micro‐X‐ray fluorescence (µ‐XRF) mapping and scanning electron microscopy. The approximate value of the Ca/P ratio was 2.2, as determined from scanning electron microscopy measurements. Bacterial boring was detected close to the periosteal region and Fe bearing oxides were found to fill bone cavities, e.g. Haversian canals and osteocyte lacunae. In the perissodactyl bone considerable amounts of Mn were detected close to cracks (the Mn/Fe weight ratio takes values up to 3.5). Goethite and pyrite were detected in both samples by means of metallographic microscopy. The local Ca/P ratio determined with µ‐XRF varied significantly in metal‐poor spots indicating spatial inhomogeneities in the ionic substitutions. XRF line scans that span the bone cross sections revealed that Fe and Mn contaminate the bones from both the periosteum and medullar cavity and aggregate around local maxima. The formation of goethite, irrespective of the local Fe concentration, was verified by the Fe K‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectra. Finally, Sr K‐edge extended XAFS (EXAFS) revealed that Sr substitutes for Ca in bone apatite without obvious preference to the Ca1 or Ca2 unit‐cell site occupation.  相似文献

Time‐resolved X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (TR‐XAS), based on the laser‐pump/X‐ray‐probe method, is powerful in capturing the change of the geometrical and electronic structure of the absorbing atom upon excitation. TR‐XAS data analysis is generally performed on the laser‐on minus laser‐off difference spectrum. Here, a new analysis scheme is presented for the TR‐XAS difference fitting in both the extended X‐ray absorption fine‐structure (EXAFS) and the X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) regions. R‐space EXAFS difference fitting could quickly provide the main quantitative structure change of the first shell. The XANES fitting part introduces a global non‐derivative optimization algorithm and optimizes the local structure change in a flexible way where both the core XAS calculation package and the search method in the fitting shell are changeable. The scheme was applied to the TR‐XAS difference analysis of Fe(phen)3 spin crossover complex and yielded reliable distance change and excitation population.  相似文献

We report catalyst‐free direct synthesis of vertical graphene nanosheets (VGNs) on SiO2/Si and quartz substrates using microwave electron cyclotron resonance – plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The evolution of VGNs is studied systematically at different growth stages. Raman analysis as a function of growth time reveals that two different disorder‐induced competing mechanisms contributing to the defect band intensity. The VGNs grown on SiO2/Si substrates predominantly consists of both vacancy‐like and hopping defects. On the other hand, the VGNs grown on quartz substrates contain mainly boundary‐like defects. X‐ray photoemission spectroscopy studies also corroborate Raman analysis in terms of defect density and vacancy‐like defects for the VGNs grown on SiO2/Si substrates. Moreover, the grown VGNs exhibit a high optical transmittance from 95% to 78% at 550 nm and the sheet resistance varies from 30 to 2.17 kΩ/sq. depending on growth time. The presence of native oxide on the surface of silicon nanoparticles is known to inhibit charge transport on the surfaces. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies reveal that the particles in the printed silicon network have a wide range of sizes and shapes. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy reveals that the particle surfaces have mainly the (111)‐ and (100)‐oriented planes which stabilizes against further oxidation of the particles. X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements at the O 1s‐edge have been utilized to study the oxidation and local atomic structure of printed layers of silicon nanoparticles which were milled for different times. XANES results reveal the presence of the +4 (SiO2) oxidation state which tends towards the +2 (SiO) state for higher milling times. Si 2p XPS results indicate that the surfaces of the silicon nanoparticles in the printed layers are only partially oxidized and that all three sub‐oxide, +1 (Si2O), +2 (SiO) and +3 (Si2O3), states are present. The analysis of the change in the sub‐oxide peaks of the silicon nanoparticles shows the dominance of the +4 state only for lower milling times.  相似文献

The use of in situ time‐resolved dispersive X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (DXAS) to monitor the formation of Cu2(OH)3Cl particles in an aqueous solution is reported. The measurements were performed using a dedicated reaction cell, which enabled the evolution of the Cu K‐edge X‐ray absorption near‐edge spectroscopy to be followed during mild chemical synthesis. The formed Cu2(OH)3Cl particles were also characterized by synchrotron‐radiation‐excited X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The influence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) on the electronic and structural properties of the formed particles was investigated. The results indicate clearly the formation of Cu2(OH)3Cl, with or without the use of PVP, which presents very similar crystalline structures in the long‐range order. However, depending on the reaction, dramatic differences were observed by in situ DXAS in the vicinities of the Cu atoms.  相似文献

Lift‐off protocols for thin films for improved extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements are presented. Using wet chemical etching of the substrate or the interlayer between the thin film and the substrate, stand‐alone high‐quality micrometer‐thin films are obtained. Protocols for the single‐crystalline semiconductors GeSi, InGaAs, InGaP, InP and GaAs, the amorphous semiconductors GaAs, GeSi and InP and the dielectric materials SiO2 and Si3N4 are presented. The removal of the substrate and the ability to stack the thin films yield benefits for EXAFS experiments in transmission as well as in fluorescence mode. Several cases are presented where this improved sample preparation procedure results in higher‐quality EXAFS data compared with conventional sample preparation methods. This lift‐off procedure can also be advantageous for other experimental techniques (e.g. small‐angle X‐ray scattering) that benefit from removing undesired contributions from the substrate.  相似文献

Speciation of copper in a copper‐rich chemical‐mechanical polishing sludge during electrokinetic treatment has been studied by in situ extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy. The least‐squares‐fitted XANES spectra indicate that the main copper species in the sludge are Cu(OH)2 (74%), nanosize CuO (20–60 nm) (13%) and CuO (>100 nm) (13%). The average bond distance and coordination number (CN) of Cu—O are 1.96 Å and 3.5, respectively. Under electrokinetic treatment (5 V cm?1) for 120 min, about 85% of the copper is dissolved in the electrolyte, 13% of which is migrated and enriched on the cathode. Notably the copper nanoparticles in the sludge can also migrate to the cathode under the electric field. By in situ EXAFS, it is found that during the electrokinetic treatment the bond distance and CN of Cu—O are increased by 0.1 Å and 0.9, respectively.  相似文献

A focusing system based on a polycapillary half‐lens optic has been successfully tested for transmission and fluorescence µ‐X‐ray absorption spectroscopy at a third‐generation bending‐magnet beamline equipped with a non‐fixed‐exit Si(111) monochromator. The vertical positional variations of the X‐ray beam owing to the use of a non‐fixed‐exit monochromator were shown to pose only a limited problem by using the polycapillary optic. The expected height variation for an EXAFS scan around the Fe K‐edge is approximately 200 µm on the lens input side and this was reduced to ~1 µm for the focused beam. Beam sizes (FWHM) of 12–16 µm, transmission efficiencies of 25–45% and intensity gain factors, compared with the non‐focused beam, of about 2000 were obtained in the 7–14 keV energy range for an incoming beam of 0.5 × 2 mm (vertical × horizontal). As a practical application, an As K‐edge µ‐XANES study of cucumber root and hypocotyl was performed to determine the As oxidation state in the different plant parts and to identify a possible metabolic conversion by the plant.  相似文献
