The linearized Lorentz force, continuity equation, and Maxwell's equations are used to calculate the system dispersion relation for a coaxial configuration of the dielectric Cherenkov maser. The system consists of two coaxial conductors lined with dielectric and an annular relativistic electron beam, which propagates between the two liners. The dispersion relation for the beam and dielectric-lined coaxial waveguide structure and the no-beam system that describes the dependence of the generated frequency on the coaxial waveguide parameters are presented. Using the linearized dispersion relation, the growth rate for the beam-TM0n waveguide mode instability is calculated in the strong-coupling tenuous beam limit  相似文献

The electroweak coupling between intense neutrino beams and strongly degenerate relativistic dense electron-positron magnetoplasmas is considered. The intense neutrino bursts interact with the plasma due to the weak Fermi interaction force, and their dynamics is governed by a kinetic equation. Our objective here is to develop a kinetic equation for a degenerate neutrino gas and to use that equation to derive relativistic magnetohydrodynamic equations. The latter are useful for studying numerous collective processes when intense neutrino beams nonlinearly interact with degenerate, relativistic, dense electron-positron plasmas in strong magnetic fields. If the number densities of the plasma particles are of the order of 1033 cm-3, the pair plasma becomes ultra-relativistic, which strongly affects the potential energy of the weak Fermi interaction. The new system of equations allows several neutrino-driven streaming instabilities involving new types of relativistic Alfvén-like waves. The relevance of our investigation to the early universe and supernova explosions is discussed. 由相对论回旋动力论方程出发,推导出弱相对论非均匀等离子体的普遍色散关系。该色散关系可以适用于任意的磁场位形和任意有限频率。在色散关系中把带有速度平方项分母的奇异积分用等离子体漂移色散函数解析地表示出来,从而可以把这一结果用于较系统地解析或半解析地研究由弱相对论效应,磁场的梯度和曲率,回旋频移等共振驱动的各种微观不稳定性的性质。由于推导时考虑了温度各向异性的麦氏分布函数,因而可以直接推广并应用到损失锥非平衡分布的情况。文中还演示了它在低杂漂移不稳定性研究中的应用。由该色散关系出发,可以简捷并系统地得到Drake等人的结果。 关键词:  相似文献

The general dispersion relation is derived for the fundamental transverse magnetic modes driven by a cold relativistic electron beam in a dielectric-loaded cylindrical waveguide using the fluid Maxwell equations. It is then reduced to the algebraic equation for the space charge and cyclotron modes using a tenuous beam approximation. Solutions of the resulting equation are obtained by varying several parameters, such as the external magnetic field the dielectric constant and the thickness of the dielectric material. It is shown that the growth rate of the slow cyclotron instability is greatly increased for the region of Bo≲1000 G to the extent that it becomes comparable to the growth rate of a slow space-charge instability. In this region the magnetic-field effect on the slow space-charge mode is shown to increase the growth rate by up to 10%. In the limit of the critical external magnetic field defined as the field below which no beam equilibrium exists, it is found that two slow modes of cyclotron and space-charge modes become degenerate with a finite value of growth rate  相似文献

The cubic approximation to the dispersion relation for a relativistic backward-wave oscillator is obtained, and the utility and limits of the approximation are presented. The approximation is obtained by Taylor series expansion of the wave admittance in the dispersion relation for the transverse-magnetic and free-streaming modes of a relativistic, thin, hollow, cylindrical electron beam moving along the axis of a disc-loaded waveguide in a strong axial magnetic field. The resulting cubic dispersion relation yields instability growth rates and frequencies which fall off beyond their maximum more sharply with increasing wavenumber than for the complete dispersion relation. The approximation is found to be quite good near the operating points of contemporary high-power relativistic backward-wave oscillators, namely, for relatively long wavelength and small ratio of Budker's parameter to the relativistic gamma factor of the beam  相似文献

The production of anomalouse + e pairs in heavy ion collisions and the solar neutrino puzzle are two seemingly unrelated problems of the standard model of electroweak interactions. According to the observations made at Homestake and Kamiokande, the flux of solar neutrinos is too small. Furthermore, the observations made at Homestake (neutrino-nucleon scattering) show anticorrelation of the solar neutrino flux with sunspots, unlike the observations made in Kamiokande (neutrino-electron scattering). According to the previously proposed model inspired by T(opological) G(eometro) D(ynamics), anomalouse + e pairs result from the decay of the leptopion, which can be regarded as a bound state of color excited electrons. In this paper we show that the generalization of PCAC ideas leads to a prediction for the lifetime and production cross section of the leptopion in agreement with data. The model is also consistent with constraints coming from Babbha scattering and supernova physics. Leptopion exchange implies a new weak interaction between leptons at low cm energies (of the order of a few MeVs), which explains the Kamiokande-Homestake puzzle. Part of the solar neutrinos are transformed in the convective zone of the Sun to right-handed neutrinos inert with respect to ordinary electroweak interactions, but interacting with electrons via leptopion exchange so that they are observed in Kamiokande. A correct average value for the neutrino flux at Kamiokande is predicted using as input the Homestake flux, and the anticorrelation with sunspots in Kamiokande is predicted to be considerably weaker than in Homestake.  相似文献

A dispersion relation for the perpendicular propagation of the electromagnetic ion cyclotron wave around the second harmonic of the deuterium ion gyrofrequency in a mildly relativistic, anisotropic Maxwellian plasma with hydrogen as the majority species and deuterium as the minority component has been derived. The work has been carried out in the frame of reference of the majority hydrogen ions; to these ions the waves at 2ΘD would be at its own gyrofrequency. Using a small quantityɛ to order all relevant parameters of the plasma, it was possible to derive the dispersion relations in a simple form. To the lowest order the relativistic factors do not enter the dispersion relation. The plasma can now support two modes—one above and the other below the hydrogen gyrofrequency in agreement with the assumptions. This was also verified numerically using a standard root solver thereby justifying the correctness of the ordering scheme. In the next higher order, the dispersion relation is a quartic equation and is sensitively dependent on the relativistic factors. The plasma can now support four modes, both above and below the hydrogen gyrofrequency and consistent with the ordering scheme used. However the modes can now coalesce resulting in complex conjugate roots to the dispersion relation thereby indicating an instability. The advantage of such a scheme is that two dispersion relations — one of which is independent of the relativistic factors and the other which is sensitively dependent on them can be separated out.  相似文献

对入射等离子体的相对论电子注(REB)在离子通道中可能产生切连科夫(Cherenkov)辐射的问题进行了论证与研究.利用线性理论分析了离子背景下的注-波互作用关系,导出了系统的色散方程与同步辐射条件.结果表明,系统的电磁不稳定性是由离子通道中TM模与电子注模通过电子注耦合所致,其微观机理是离子对电子注的聚焦.对处于运动等离子体状态下的离子-注系统进行了严格地理论分析,获得了通道内辐射波的频偏与波增长率公式,并通过数值模拟计算讨论了系统有关参数对它们的影响. 关键词: 离子通道 等离子体 切连科夫辐射  相似文献

The nonlinear propagation of an intense neutrino flux in an electron-positron plasma with equilibrium density and magnetic field inhomogeneities is considered. It is found that the neutrinos are nonlinearly coupled with electrostatic and electromagnetic disturbances due to weak Fermi interaction and ponderomotive forces. The process is governed by a Klein-Gordon equation for the neutrino flux and a wave equation for the plasma oscillations in the presence of the ponderomotive force of the neutrinos. This pair of equations is then used to derive a nonlinear dispersion relation which exhibits that nonthermal electrostatic and electromagnetic fluctuations are created on account of the energy density of the neutrinos. The relevance of our investigation to the anomalous absorption of neutrinos in a nonuniform magnetized medium is pointed out.  相似文献

The effect of polarization force acting on massive charged dust grains is investigated analytically on the Jeans instability of self-gravitating dusty plasma. The gravitational force acting on the massive negatively charged interstellar dust grains are considered in presence of both electrical and polarization forces. The basic equations of the problem are formulated and a general dispersion relation is obtained using plane wave approximation in low frequency wave mode. The effect of polarization force in the dispersion relation of the problem, condition of the Jeans instability and expression of the critical Jeans wave number is examined. The unstable growing modes due to self-gravitational force are studied in the situation when polarization force on the dust grain exceeds over the electrical force in magnitude. It is observed that the polarization force increases the growth rate of the system.  相似文献

采用等效媒质处理方法来研究有限引导磁场下沿纵向运动的相对论环形电子注.首先建立运动坐标系以电子注纵向速度匀速运动,在运动坐标系中电子注可以被考虑成静止的磁化等离子体,再通过四维空间的洛伦兹变换得到电子注在静止的实验室坐标系下可以被等效为双各向异性媒质,其不仅具有张量形式的电导率和磁导率,还具有手征特性.在此基础上同时考虑了由于电子注表面波动所引起的表面电流密度.采用该方法研究了有限引导磁场下圆柱波导中沿纵向运动的相对论环形电子注,推导出该模型的色散方程,并进行了数值计算.计算结果表明该研究方法能够得到更准 关键词: 相对论环形电子注 磁化等离子体 色散特性  相似文献

In this paper, the coupling instability of warm relativistic electron beam (WREB) propagating through the ion channel guiding is investigated in detail. Obtaining the equilibrium state of the system by considering the self-electric and azimuthal magnetic field, the fluid-Maxwell equations as well as linear perturbation theory are employed to derive the dispersion relation of the excited modes in the system. Numerical analysis of the obtained dispersion relation shows that the electromagnetic (EM) instability can be induced nearly the center of the beam through coupling between the fast electron plasma wave (FEPW), originated from the longitudinal oscillation of WREB, and fast forward electromagnetic wave (FFEW). In this sense, growing the perturbation amplitude occurs due to transport the kinetic energy of WREB to the EM wave at the specific frequency range, where the phase velocity of FEPW and FFEW is coincided. The results of the present investigation will greatly contribute to the understanding of the stability of the warm relativistic electron beam in laboratory experiments, such as in free electron laser experiments, where the ion-channel guiding is used to confine the electrons against the self-repulsive forces generated by the beam itself.  相似文献

Wave properties and instabilities in a magnetized, anisotropic, collisionless, rarefied hot plasma in fluid approx‐imation are studied, using the 16‐moments set of the transport equations obtained from the Vlasov equations. These equations differ from the CGL‐MHD fluid model (single fluid equations by Chew, Goldberger, and Low [5,9]) by including two anisotropic heat flux evolution equations, where the fluxes invalidate the double polytropic CGL laws. We derived the general dispersion relation for linear compressible wave modes. Besides the classic incompressible fire hose modes there appear four types of compressible wave modes: two fast and slow mirror modes – strongly modified compared to the CGL model – and two thermal modes. In the presence of initial heat fluxes along the magnetic field the wave properties become different for the waves running forward and backward with respect to the magnetic field. The well known discrepancies between the results of the CGL‐MHD fluid model and the kinetic theory are now removed: i) The mirror slow mode instability criterion is now the same as that in the kinetic theory. ii) Similarly, in kinetic studies there appear two kinds of fire hose instabilities ‐ incompressible and compressible ones. These two instabilities can arise for the same plasma parameters, and the instability of the new compressible oblique fire hose modes can become dominant. The compressible fire hose instability is the result of the resonance coupling of three retrograde modes ‐ two thermal modes and a fast mirror mode. This paper addresses the formulae and numerical issues related to the possibility that fast wave may be grown when a relativistic electron beam through an ion channel in a cylindrical metal waveguide.To derive the dispersion equations of the beam-wave interaction,it solves relativistic Lorentz equation and Maxwell’s equations for appropriate boundary conditions.It has been found in this waveguide structure that the TM 0m modes are the rational operating modes of coupling between the electromagnetic modes and the betatron modes.The interaction of the dispersion curves of the electromagnetic TM 0m modes and the upper betatron modes is studied.The growth rates of the wave are obtained,and the effects of the beam radius,the beam energy,the plasma frequency,and the beam plasma frequency on the wave growth rate are numerically calculated and discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the parallel streaming effects on the dispersion characteristics of a kinetic Alfvén wave (KAW) in a low β dusty magnetoplasma. To analyse the influence of streaming ions obeying generalized (r, q) distribution function, hot and magnetized electrons, and mobile charged dust, a theoretical approach has been used for the instability analysis by employing two potential theories. A linear kinetic dispersion relation of Alfvén waves is derived, whose solutions are used to interpret the numerical and analytical results. The solutions of dispersion relation indicate that the characteristics of KAWs are transformed when generalized (r, q) distribution function is employed instead of its Maxwellian counterpart. We also found that the unstable modes have a strong dependence on spectral indices r and q , dust parameters, and plasma β . For the excitation of KAWs, the streaming velocity has been observed to be within the sub-Alfvén range, whereas when it extends to the super-Alfvén range, the growth rates are significantly suppressed. The observations further show that an ambient magnetic field and superthermal particles inhibit the growth of an electromagnetic wave to a significant degree and have a stabilizing effect on the wave mode, whereas an increasing concentration of low-energy particles contributes to enhancing growth rates.  相似文献
