In this paper we report on the effect of annealing on the microsctructural and optoelectronic properties of titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films prepared using sol-gel method onto silicon (Si) (100) and quartz substrates. The annealing temperatures range from 200 to 1000 °C. The Microstructural properties of annealed thin films were investigated by Thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy. The surface morphology of the film was examined using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) method. The optical properties of TiO2 thin films were characterized using UV-VIS and Spectroscopic ellipsometry. The results have shown that the TiO2 thin films persist in the anatase phase even after annealing at 800 °C. The phase transformation from anatase to rutile occurred only when the films were annealed at 1000 °C. AFM studies revealed nanocrystalline structure where their shape and density depend strongly on the annealing temperatures. The elaborated nanostructured-TiO2 thin films present a high transparency in the visible range. Spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) study was used to determine the effect of annealing temperature on the thickness and on the optical constant of TiO2 thin films. Spectroscopic ellipsometry and UV-VIS shows that the band gap of TiO2 thin films was found to decrease when the annealing temperature increases. The Anatase phase was find to show higher photocatalytic activity than the rutile one.  相似文献

This work presents the annealing temperature effect on the properties of mercury (Hg)-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2). Thin films and polycrystalline powders have been prepared by sol-gel process. The structure, surface morphology and optical properties, as a function of the annealing temperature, have been studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman, reflectance and ellipsometric spectroscopies. In order to determine the transformation points, we have analyzed the xerogel-obtained powder by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Raman spectroscopy shows the crystalline anatase and rutile phases for the films annealed at 400 °C and 1000 °C respectively. The AFM surface morphology results indicate that the particle size increases from 14 to 57 nm by increasing the annealing temperature. The complex index and the optical band gap (Eg) of the films were determined by the spectroscopic ellipsometry analysis. We have found that the optical band gap decreases by increasing the annealing temperature.  相似文献

The Hg-doped and undoped nano-crystalline TiO2 films on ITO glass substrates surface and polycrystalline powders were prepared by sol-gel dip coating technique. The crystal structure and surface morphology of TiO2 were characterized by means of X-ray diffractometer (XRD), atomic force microscope (AFM), spectrophotometer, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), and spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). The results indicated that the powder of TiO2, doped with 5% Hg in room temperature was only composed of the anatase phase whereas in the undoped powder exhibits an amorphous phase were present. After heat treatments of thin films, titanium oxide starts to crystallize at the annealing temperature 400 °C. The average crystallite size of the undoped TiO2 films was about 8.17 nm and was increased with Hg-doping in the TiO2 films. Moreover, the grains distributed more uniform and the surface roughness was greater in the Hg-doped TiO2 films than in the undoped one. Refractive index and porosity were calculated from the measured transmittance spectrum. The values of the index of refraction are in the range (1.95-2.49) and the porosity is in the range (47-2.8). The coefficient of transmission varies from 60 to 90%. SE study was used to determine the annealing temperature effect on the optical properties in the wavelength range from 0.25 to 2 μm and the optical gap of the Hg-doped TiO2 thin films.  相似文献

In this study, TiO2−xNx/TiO2 double layers thin film was deposited on ZnO (80 nm thickness)/soda-lime glass substrate by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The TiO2 film was deposited under different total gas pressures of 1 Pa, 2 Pa, and 4 Pa with constant oxygen flow rate of 0.8 sccm. Then, the deposition was continued with various nitrogen flow rates of 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 sccm in constant total gas pressure of 4 Pa. Post annealing was performed on as-deposited films at various annealing temperatures of 400, 500, and 600 °C in air atmosphere to achieve films crystallinity. The structure and morphology of deposited films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical composition of top layer doped by nitrogen was evaluated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Photocatalytic activity of samples was measured by degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) dye. The optical transmittance of the multilayer film was also measured using ultraviolet-visible light (UV-vis) spectrophotometer. The results showed that by nitrogen doping of a fraction (∼1/5) of TiO2 film thickness, the optical transmittance of TiO2−xNx/TiO2 film was compared with TiO2 thin film. Deposited films showed also good photocatalytic and hydrophilicity activity at visible light.  相似文献

We have prepared SrTiO3/BaTiO3 thin films with multilayered structures deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass by a sol-gel deposition and heating at 300-650 °C. The optical properties were obtained by UV-vis spectroscopy. The films show a high transmittance (approximately 85%) in the visible region. The optical band gap of the films is tunable in the 3.64-4.19 eV range by varying the annealing temperature. An abrupt decrease towards the bulk band gap value is observed at annealing temperatures above 600 °C. The multilayered film annealed at 650 ° C exhibited the maximum refractive index of 2.09-1.91 in the 450-750 nm wavelength range. The XRD and AFM results indicate that the films annealed above 600 ° C are substantially more crystalline than the films prepared at lower temperatures which were used to change their optical band gap and complex refractive index to an extent that depended on the annealing temperature.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films doping of various iron ion (Fe3+) concentrations were deposited on silicon (Si) (100) and quartz substrates by sol-gel Spin Coating technique followed by a thermal treatment at 600 °C. The structure, surface morphology and optical properties, as a function of the doping, have been studied by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE). XRD and Raman analyzes of our thin films show that the crystalline phase of TiO2 thin films comprised only the anatase TiO2, but the crystallinity decreased when the Fe3+ content increased from 0% to 20%. During the Fe3+ addition to 20%, the phase of TiO2 thin film still maintained the amorphous state. The grain size calculated from XRD patterns varies from 29.3 to 22.6 nm. The complex index and the optical band gap (Eg) of the films were determined by the spectroscopic ellipsometry analysis. We have found that the optical band gap decreased with an increasing Fe3+ content.  相似文献

TiO2, which is high in refractive index and dielectric constant, plays an important role in the fields of optics and electronics. In this work, TiO2 films were prepared on glass substrates by the technique of ion beam assisted electron beam evaporation. The films were deposited at 50, 150 and 300 °C, respectively. Then the as-deposited TiO2 films were annealed at 450 °C for 1 h in vacuum atmosphere. Structures and optical properties of TiO2 films were characterized by XRD, SEM, ellipsometry and spectrophotometer. As a result, the structure and the refractive index of films were improved by both the annealing and the increasing of the deposition temperature. The UV-vis transmittance spectra also confirmed that the deposition temperature has a significant effect on the transparency of the thin films. The highest transparency over the visible wavelength region of spectra was obtained at the deposition temperature of 300 °C. The allowed direct band gap at the deposition temperature ranging from 50 to 300 °C was estimated to be in the range from 3.81 to 3.92 eV.  相似文献

A novel 6SrO·6BaO·7Al2O3 (S6B6A7) thin film deposited onto soda lime float glass via sol-gel dip coating technique is reported. The morphological and compositional properties of the S6B6A7 thin films have been investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealing that the films were composed of S6B6A7 nanoparticles. The optical properties of the S6B6A7 films are affected by sol concentration, film thickness and annealing temperature as revealed by UV-vis transmittance. The transparency of S6B6A7 films improved on increasing annealing temperature up to 450 °C in air. The S6B6A7 films prepared using 2, 5, and 8 (wt.%) sols and annealed at 450 °C exhibit an average transmittance of over ∼91% in wide visible range.  相似文献

In2S3 thin films were grown on glass substrates by means of the vacuum thermal evaporation technique and subsequently thermally annealed in nitrogen and free air atmosphere from 250 to 350 °C for different durations. Experimental parameters have been adjusted in order to optimize the annealing conditions, and to obtain high band gap energy at low deposition temperature, as required for photovoltaic applications. In order to improve our understanding of the influence of the deposition and annealing parameters on device performance, we have investigated our indium sulfide material by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and spectrophotometry. The optical and structural properties of the films were studied as a function of the annealing temperature and durations. X-ray diffraction analysis shows the initial amorphous nature of deposited In-S thin films and the phase transition into crystalline In2S3 upon thermal annealing. Films show a good homogeneity and optical direct band gap energy about 2.2 eV. An annealing temperature of 350 °C during 60 min in air atmosphere were the optimal conditions.  相似文献

0.7BiFeO3-0.3PbTiO3 (BFPT7030) thin films were deposited on SiO2/Si substrates by sol-gel process. The influence of heating rate on the crystalline properties of BFPT7030 thin films were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XRD patterns of the films showed that a pure perovskite phase exists in BFPT7030 films annealed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) technique. SEM and AFM observations demonstrated that the BFPT7030 films annealed by RTA at 700 °C for 90 s with the heating rate of 1 °C s−1 could show a dense, crack-free surface morphology, and the films’ grains grow better than those of the films annealed by RTA at the same temperature with other heating rates. XPS results of the films indicated that the ratio of Fe3+:Fe2+ is about 21:10 and 9:5 for the films annealed by RTA at 700 °C for 90 s with the heating rate of 1 and 20 °C s−1, respectively. That means the higher the heating rate, the higher the concentration of Fe2+ in the BFPT7030 thin films.  相似文献

Undoped and cobalt doped titania (TiO2) thin films have been prepared on Si(1 0 0) monocrystal and quartz substrate using the sol-gel deposition method and annealed in air at 450, 550, 650, 750, 850, 950 and 1050 °C. Several experimental techniques (AFM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XRR, EDX, XPS, XAS, UV-VIS spectroscopy) have been used to characterize these films. Further more the degree of light induced hydrophilicity was estimated by measuring the contact angle of a water droplet on the film. Increase of the annealing temperature and in smaller degree also cobalt doping predispose titania crystallite growth. The rutile phase was detected at lower temperatures in the cobalt doped films than in the undoped titania films. Cobalt in the cobalt doped TiO2 was seen to be in Co2+ oxidation state, mainly in CoTiO3 phase when films were annealed at temperatures higher than 650 °C. Cobalt compounds segregated into the sub-surface region and to the surface of the titania, where they formed islands. Cobalt doping red-shifted the fundamental absorption edge further into the visible range, however it did not enhance the light induced hydrophilicity of the thin film surface as compared to the undoped titania thin films.  相似文献

Nb-doped TiO2 (TNO) thin films were prepared by sol-gel dip-coating method with Nb content in a wide range of 0-20 at.%. The prepared films were preheated at 400 °C and then undertaken by two different post-annealing processes: (a) three times vacuum annealing and (b) multi-round annealing. The designed multi-round annealing was shown to be an effective way to improve the conductive properties of the films, compared to the traditional vacuum annealing process. The minimum resistivity reached approximately 0.5 Ω cm with Nb doping concentration around 12 at.%, and the carrier density increased with Nb-doping concentration until the critical point of 12 at.%, which might be the optimal doping content for our TNO films prepared by sol-gel method.  相似文献

This study investigated the optical and electrical properties of Nb-doped TiO2 thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The PLD conditions were optimized to fabricate Nb-doped TiO2 thin films with an improved electrical conductivity and crystalline structure. XRD analyses revealed that the deposition at room temperature in 0.92 Pa O2 was suitable to produce anatase-type TiO2. A Nb-doped TiO2 thin film attained a resistivity as low as 6.7 × 10−4 Ω cm after annealing at 350 °C in vacuum (<10−5 Pa), thereby maintaining the transmittance as high as 60% in the UV-vis region.  相似文献

Nanostructured bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) thin films were deposited on glass substrate by the sol-gel process. The as-fired film at 250 °C was found to be amorphous crystallizing to pure rhombohedral phase after annealing at 450 °C for 2 h in air. The XRD pattern shows that the sample is polycrystalline in nature. The average grain size of the film calculated from the XRD data was found to be 16 nm. The as-fired film show high transmittance that decreases after crystallization. The absorption edge of the films was found to be sharper and shifting towards the lower energy as the annealing temperature increases. The optical energy band gaps of the amorphous and crystalline films were found to be 2.63 and 2.31 eV, respectively. The refractive indices of the amorphous and crystalline films were 2.05 and 2.26, respectively.  相似文献

The paper reports on thermal stability of alumina thin films containing γ-Al2O3 phase and its conversion to a thermodynamically stable α-Al2O3 phase during a post-deposition equilibrium thermal annealing. The films were prepared by reactive magnetron sputtering and subsequently post-deposition annealing was carried out in air at temperatures ranging from 700 °C to 1150 °C and annealing times up to 5 h using a thermogravimetric system. The evolution of the structure was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction after cooling down of the films. It was found that (1) the nanocrystalline γ-Al2O3 phase in the films is thermally stable up to 1000 °C even after 5 h of annealing, (2) the nanocrystalline θ-Al2O3 phase was observed in a narrow time and temperature region at ≥1050 °C, and (3) annealing at 1100 °C for 2 h resulted in a dominance of the α-Al2O3 phase only in the films with a sufficient thickness.  相似文献

Nanostructured TiO2 thin films have been prepared through chemical route using sol-gel and spin coating techniques. The deposited films were annealed in the temperature range 400–1000°C for 1 h. The structure and microstructure of the annealed films were characterized by GAXRD, micro-Raman spectroscopy and AFM. The as-deposited TiO2 thin films are found to be amorphous. Micro-Raman and GAXRD results confirm the presence of the anatase phase and absence of the rutile phase for films annealed up to 700°C. The diffraction pattern of the film annealed at 800 to 1000°C contains peaks of both anatase and rutile reflections. The intensity of all peaks in micro-Raman and GAXRD patterns increased and their width (FWHM) decreased with increasing annealing temperature, demonstrating the improvement in the crystallinity of the annealed films. Phase transformation at higher annealing temperature involves a competition among three events such as: grain growth of anatase phase, conversion of anatase to rutile and grain growth of rutile phase. AFM image of the asdeposited films and annealed films indicated exponential grain growth at higher temperature.   相似文献

Polycrystalline zirconium tin titanate (Zr0.8Sn0.2TiO4, ZST) thin films with thickness of 81 nm were deposited successfully along the (1 0 0) on a p-type Si substrate by an improved sol-gel method. The deposited films were crystallized when annealing temperature was up to 450 °C. The thickness and compositions of the interface layer between the ZST films and Si substrate were identified by high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). The electrical properties such as leakage current density, flat-band voltage and capacitance of the films were measured and discussed. Furthermore, the mechanism of the leakage current was also investigated.  相似文献

Transparent semiconducting copper iodide (CuI) films were prepared by XeCl Excimer laser and their characteristics are investigated. These films exhibited optical transmittance over 80% in the wavelength range from 400 to 900 nm and minimum resistivity of about 2 kΩ cm−1. The optical absorption of the these films shows a remarkable blue shift compared to that of polycrystalline of CuI, which can be explained from the viewpoint formation of ultra fine of CuI grains. The titanium dioxide (TiO2) films have been prepared by sol-gel method. The properties of pulsed laser deposited CuI and TiO2 films in power output of n-TiO2|dye|p-CuI cells is studied. An efficient charge generation is observed through the illumination of TiO2 layer of the fabricated n-TiO2|dye|p-CuI solid state photovoltaic solar cells. From the current-voltage characteristics, the fill factor and power conversion efficiency were about of 45 and 3%, respectively. The maximum photo-current of about 12.5 mA/cm2 and photo-voltage of 475 mV under AM 1.5 conditions were obtained for the n-TiO2|dye|p-CuI solid states photovoltaic solar cells with good reproducibility. Adsorbed dye molecules to the TiO2 surface act as a relay, especially under illumination through TiO2 layer in the wave range region of 300-400 nm.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new simple approach for synthetic of shape-defined anatase nanocuboids TiO2 by using combination of titanium tetra isopropoxide (TTIP) and orthotitanic acid (H4TiO4) as titanium precursor. In first step by adding precursor to ethanol solution mixed with HCl the primary sol has been prepared, therefore two other different films by adding Methylcellulose (MC) as a carbon containing material and adding TiO2 nanopowder as nanofiller have been prepared and properties of thin film as a function of parameters of annealing temperature and additives, have been discussed. The films were deposited on glass substrates and characterized by using UV–vis spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM results show that optical properties of TiO2 thin films were changed by baking in 300, 400 and 500 °C as annealing temperature. Moreover, they indicate that the additives have strong effect on anatase structure and therefore influence the optical properties.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were epitaxially grown on sapphire (0 0 0 1) substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. ZnO thin films were then annealed at different temperatures in air and in various atmospheres at 800 °C, respectively. The effect of the annealing temperature and annealing atmosphere on the structure and optical properties of ZnO thin films are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), photoluminescence (PL). A strong (0 0 2) diffraction peak of all ZnO thin films shows a polycrystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure and high preferential c-axis orientation. XRD and AFM results reveal that the better structural quality, relatively smaller tensile stress, smooth, uniform of ZnO thin films were obtained when annealed at 800 °C in N2. Room temperature PL spectrum can be divided into the UV emission and the Visible broad band emission. The UV emission can be attributed to the near band edge emission (NBE) and the Visible broad band emission can be ascribed to the deep level emissions (DLE). By analyzing our experimental results, we recommend that the deep-level emission correspond to oxygen vacancy (VO) and interstitial oxygen (Oi). The biggest ratio of the PL intensity of UV emission to that of visible emission (INBE/IDLE) is observed from ZnO thin films annealed at 800 °C in N2. Therefore, we suggest that annealing temperature of 800 °C and annealing atmosphere of N2 are the most suitable annealing conditions for obtaining high quality ZnO thin films with good luminescence performance.  相似文献
