We investigate the effects of confined laser ablation on laser plasma propulsion. Compared with planar ablation, the cavity ablation provides an effective way to obtain a large target momentum and a high coupling coefficient. When laser pulses are focused into a cavity with 1 mm diameter and 2ram depth, a high coupling coefficient is obtained. By using a glass layer to cover the cavity, the coupling coefficient is enhanced by 10 times. Meanwhile, it is found that with the increase of the target surface size, the target momentum presents a linear increase.  相似文献

We present a novel kind of pulsed laser named controllable passively Q-switched laser (CPQL). A CPQL of Nd:YV04 with Cr:YAG as saturable absorber was demonstrated and studied as an example of the kind of pulsed lasers. In CPQL, as the actively controlling signal, a diode laser beam was focused onto the saturable absorber in the resonant cavity of the passively Q-switched laser (PQL) and was absorbed by the absorber to realize the active control of the CPQL. The characters of the CPQL output laser pulses, such as generation time, repetition rate, pulse width, peak power and energy per pulse, can be controlled by the operator. The CPQLs possess theadv antages of both passively Q-switched laser and actively Q-switched laser. Because of their compactness, low cost and controllability, the CPQLs will find wide applications in many fields.  相似文献

In order to investigate the feasibility regarding micro-satellite posture steering by laser micro-propulsion, a laser torsion pendulum has been set up so as to get first-hand basic physical and mechanical parameters on laser micro-propulsion. The instrumentation consists of the optical, mechanical, and electrical sub-systems. The optical system includes the main beam optics, the measuring optics, and the observation optics. The mechanical system includes the gyration apparatus, transverse translation stage, vertical translator, focal lenses translator, calibration pendulum translator, and vacuum chamber. For the electrical system a computer is used to control stepping motors to drive the above moving apparatuses. With this instrument the calibration experiment and laser ablation experiment have been carried out. The experimental results demonstrate that the instrument has the capacity to measure impulse down to 10-8 N·s with an error of about 10.4%, which can satisfy the requirement of micro-impulse mea  相似文献

We report a Q-switched 2-μm Tm:YAG laser based on intracavity-pumped by a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser operating at room temperature for the first time. An average output power of 5.1W is obtained with the repetition rate of 30kHz and a pulse width of 300ns. In addition, we demonstrate a 12.5-W continuous-wave 2-μm Tm:YAG laser, which is, to our best knowledge, the highest power for intracavity-pumping configuration.  相似文献

Demonstrations of cw lasing in Cr^2+:ZnSe poly-crystal are reported. The laser consists of a 1.7-mm-thick Cr^2+ :ZnSe poly-crystal disc pumped by a Tin-silica double-clad fibre laser at 2050nm. Using a concave high- reflection mirror with a radius of curvature of 500mm as the rear mirror, the laser delivers up to 1030mW of radiation around 2.367μm.  相似文献

A compact laser diode-pumped solid-state Nd:LuVO4 acousto-optic Q-switched laser is demonstrated at 916 nm of a quasi-three level for the first time. A pulse width of 130ns is observed when the pulse-repetition frequency is 10 kHz. Quasi-CW diode-pumped Yb3 : borate glass and Yb3 : phosphate glass microchip lasers have been reported. From Yb3 : phosphate glass laser, the maximum average output power was 31 mW and the optical-optical conversion efficiency was 5% . The maximum average output power was 18 mW, and optical-optical conversion efficiency was 3% for Yb3 :borate glass laser.  相似文献

A high-efficiency high-power Nd:YAG laser under 885 nm laser diode (LD) pumping is demonstrated. The laser crystal is carefully designed, and the overlapping between the pump modes and the laser modes is optimized. The maximum output power at 1064 nm is 87W under the absorbed pump power 127.7 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 72.4% and an optical-optical efficiency of 68.1%. The optical-optical efficiency is 58.4% for the pump power emitted directly from the LD. To our best knowledge, this is the maximal optical-optical conversion efficiency obtained for the LD end-pumped Nd:YAG lasers so far.  相似文献

Ramp-wave compression experiment to balance the high compression pressure generation in aluminum and x-ray blanking effect in transparent window is demonstrated with an imaging velocity interferometer system for any reflector(VISAR)on ShenGuang-Ⅲ prototype laser facility.The highest pressure is about 500 GPa after using the multilayer target design Al/Au/Al/LiF and ~10~(13)W/cm~2 laser pulse illuminated on the planar Al target,which generates the spatial uniformity to 1% over 500μm on the ablation layer.A 2-pm-thick Au layer is used to prevent the x-ray from preheating the planar ablation Al layer and window material LiF.The imaging VISAR system can be used to record the abrupt loss of the probe beam(λ= 532 nm)caused by absorption and reflection of 20-μm,30-μm and 40-μm-thick Al,i.e.,the blanking effect.Although there are slight shocks in the target,the peak pressure 500 GPa,which is the highest data up to now,is obtained with ramp-wave compression.  相似文献

The paper published in Chin. Phys. Lett. 26 (2009) 124211 reported a Q-switched 2-tim Tm:YAG laser that is intracavity pumped by a Nd: YAG laser with emission at 1.06μm. However, analysis of the experimental setup concludes that only the Nd:YAG laser is Q-switched, and the Tm:YAG laser operates in the free-generation regime. A laser-diode-pumped 1.54-μm passive Q-switched erbium doped glass laser was reported. We utilize a laser diode with wavelength of 973nm to pump a 1-mm Er/Yb co-doped phosphate glass with the erbium and ytterbium concentrations of 1 wt.% and 21 wt.%, respectively. A Co^2+ :MgAl2O4 slab crystal was used as a passive Q- switcher. Q-switched pulses with repetition frequency of 800Hz, width of 7.4ns, peak power of 2.2kW and average power of 13.3 m W were obtained when absorbed pump power was 4 75 m W. A sandwich structure of the Q- switched microchip Er/Yb glass laser was demonstrated, which shows shorter pulse width of 6.8 ns. Dependences of pulse duration and repetition frequency on pump power were also investigated.  相似文献

A Tm^3 -doped ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3 AlF3-NaF (ZBLAN) fibre up-conversion laser pumped by a 1120-nm Raman fibre laser is demonstrated with blue output power levels up to 116mW. For the output mirror with 80^ reflectivity, the slope efficiency is about 15%, the optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is 11%, and the maximum un-saturated output power is 116mW. For 60% reflectivity, the slope efficiency is about 18% and the opticalto-optical conversion efficiency is 12%, whilst the maximum saturated output power is about 80roW due to the existence of photo-degradation effect in Tm^3 doped ZBLAN glass fibre.  相似文献
