We have investigated the magnetic and electrical transport properties of Si1−xMnx single crystals grown by the vertical Bridgman method. The alloys with Mn concentrations up to x=0.64 have weak ferromagnetic ordering around TC∼30 K. However, Si0.25Mn0.75 alloys show weak ferromagnetic ordering at 70 K and antiferromagnetic ordering at 104 K, which is confirmed by magnetization and electrical transport studies.  相似文献

A study of the half-metallic character of the semi Heusler alloys Co1−xCuxMnSb (0?x?0.9) is presented. We investigated the saturation magnetization MS at temperatures from 5 K to room temperature and the temperature dependence of the DC magnetic susceptibility χ above Curie temperature TC. The magnetic moments at 5 K, for most compositions are very close to the quantized value of 4 μB for Mn3+ ion, the compound with 90% Co substituted by Cu is still ferromagnetic with MS (5 K)=3.78 μB/f.u. These results emphasize the role of Co atoms in maintaining the ferromagnetic order in the material. The Curie temperature is decreased from 476 K to about 300 K as the Cu content increases from 0% to 90%. Above TC, the χ−1 vs T curves follow very well the Curie–Weiss law. The effective moment μeff and paramagnetic Curie temperature θ are derived. A comparison between the values of MS at 5 K and μeff shows a transition from localized to itinerant spin system in these compounds.  相似文献

The magneto-transport properties of ferromagnetic Ga1−xMnxAs epilayers with Mn mole fractions in the range of x≈2.2-4.4% were investigated through Hall effect measurements. The magnetic field-dependent Hall mobility for a metallic sample with x≈2.2% in the temperature range of T=0-300 K was analyzed by magnetic field-dependent mobility model including an activation energy of Mn acceptor level. This model provides outstanding fits to the measured data up to T=300 K. It was found that the acceptor levels with activation energies of 112 meV at B=0 Oe decreased to 99 meV at B=5 kOe in the ferromagnetic region. The decrease in acceptor activation energy was due to the spin splitting of the Mn acceptor level in the ferromagnetic region, and was responsible for increase in carrier concentration.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic Ga1−xMnxAs layers (where x≈4.7–5.5%) were grown on (1 0 0) GaAs substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. These p-type (Ga,Mn)As films were revealed to have a ferromagnetic structure and ferromagnetism is observed up to a Curie temperature of 318 K, which is ascribed to the presence of MnAs secondary magnetic phases within the film. It is highly likely that the phase segregation occurs due to the high Mn cell temperature around 890–920 °C, as it is well established that GaMnAs is unstable at such a high temperature. The MnAs precipitate in the samples with x≈4.7–5.5% has a Curie temperature Tc≈318 K, which was characterized from field-cooled and zero-field-cooled magnetization curves.  相似文献

The magnetic and electrical properties of the Al-doped polycrystalline spinels ZnxCryAlzSe4 (0.13≤z≤0.55) with the antiferromagnetic (AFM) order and semiconducting behavior were investigated. A complex antiferromagnetic structure below a Néel temperature TN≈23 K for the samples with z up to 0.4 contrasting with the strong ferromagnetic (FM) interactions evidenced by a large positive Curie-Weiss temperature θCW decreasing from 62.2 K for z=0.13 to 37.5 K for z=0.55 was observed. Detailed investigations revealed a divergence between the zero-field-cooling (ZFC) and field-cooling (FC) susceptibilities at temperature less than TN suggesting bond frustration due to competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions in the compositional range 0.13≤z≤0.4. Meanwhile, for z=0.55 a spin-glass-like behavior of cluster type with randomly oriented magnetic moments is observed as the ZFC-FC splitting goes up to the freezing temperature Tf=11.5 K and the critical fields connected both with a transformation of the antiferromagnetic spin spiral via conical magnetic structure into ferromagnetic phase disappear.  相似文献

The magnetic phase diagram for Mg1−xZnxCyNi3 has been tentatively constructed based on magnetization and muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements. The superconducting phase was observed to fade as x (y) increases (decreases). The low y samples show early stages of long-range ferromagnetism, or complete long-range ferromagnetism. In the phase diagram, the ferromagnetic phase exists in addition to the superconducting phase, suggesting that there is some correlation between superconductivity and ferromagnetism, even though the coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity is not observed from the μSR measurements down to 20 mK for the superconducting sample (Tc=2.5 K, (x, y)=(0, 0.9)).  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of epitaxial In1−xMnxAs1−yPy quaternary layers with Mn content ranging from 0.01 to 0.04 and phosphorous content ranging from 0.11 to 0.21 were studied. X-ray diffraction indicated that the films were two phase consisting of an InMnAsP solid solution and hexagonal MnAs nanoprecipitates. Addition of phosphorus promoted precipitate formation. Films were ferromagnetic showing hysteretic behavior in the field dependence of magnetization at 5 and 298 K. From field-cooled magnetization measurements ferromagnetic transitions were observed at 280 and 325 K. The zero field-cooled magnetization versus temperature measurements showed irreversibility for T<300 K that was attributed to the presence of MnAs nanoprecipitates. The calculated coercivity using the Neel model was 1380 G compared to the experimental value of 380 G at 5 K. The difference was attributed to a strong inter-cluster exchange that stabilizes the ferromagnetic state.  相似文献

La0.8Sr0.2Co1−xFexO3 (x=0.15, 0.2, 0.3) samples were studied by means of AC magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, magnetoresistance and 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry. Iron was found to take on a high spin 3d5−α electronic state in each of the samples, where α refers to a partly delocalized 3d electron. The compounds were found to exhibit a spin-cluster glass transition with a common transition temperature of ∼53 K. The spin-cluster glass transition is visualized in the 57Fe Mössbauer spectra as the slowing down of magnetic relaxation below ∼70 K, thereby showing that iron takes part in the formation of the glassy magnetic phase. The paramagnetic-like phase found at higher temperatures is identified below Tc≈195 K as being composed of weakly interacting, magnetically ordered nanosized clusters of magnetic ions in part with a magnetic moment oriented opposite to the net magnetic moment of the cluster. For each of the samples a considerable low-temperature negative magnetoresistance was found, whose magnitude in the studied range decreases with increasing iron concentration. The observed results obtained on the present compounds are qualitatively explained assuming that the absolute strengths of magnetic exchange interactions are subject to the relation ∣JCo–Co∣<∣JFe–Co∣<∣JFe–Fe∣.  相似文献

Magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in fine-grained perovskite manganites of the type La0.67Ba0.33Mn1−xSnxO3 (x=0.05, 0.1 and 0.15) were prepared by the solid-state method. The prepared samples remain single phase and exhibit paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transition (TC) at 340, 325 and 288 K for x=0.05, 0.1 and 0.15, respectively. From the measured magnetization data of La0.67Ba0.33Mn1−xSnxO3 compounds as a function of field (2 T), the associated magnetic entropy change close to their respective Curie temperatures and the relative cooling power (RCP) have been determined. Large MCE has been obtained in all samples and |ΔSM|max reached the highest value of 2.49 J/kg K at TC (288 K) for the sample x=0.15, with H=2 T.  相似文献

The thermomagnetic behaviour (within the temperature range 553-300 K) for the bulk composite Nd60Fe30Al10 alloy is described in terms of a transition from paramagnetic to superferromagnetic state at T=553 K, followed by a ferromagnetic ordering for T<473 K. For the superferromagnetic regime, the alloy thermomagnetic response was associated to a homogeneous distribution of magnetic clusters with mean magnetic moment and size of 1072 μB and 2.5 nm, respectively. For T<473 K, a pinning model of domain walls described properly the alloy coercivity dependence with temperature, from which the domain wall width and the magnetic anisotropy constant were estimated as being of ≈8 nm and ≈105 J/m3, typical values of hard magnetic phases. Results are supported by microstructural and magnetic domain observations.  相似文献

We report on the structural, frequency dependent ac susceptibility, dc magnetization and magnetoresistance (MR) measurements on polycrystalline samples of La0.9Ca0.1Mn1−yCryO3 (y=0, 0.1 and 0.2) prepared by sol-gel technique. For y=0, a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition is observed at Tc=136 K. Both for y=0.1 and 0.2, Tc increases from 136 to 180 K. For y=0, the imaginary part of the ac susceptibility shows a broad transition at Tf<Tc which does not depend very much on the frequency. However, for y=0.1 and 0.2, the frequency dependence resembles that of a spin glass. Though all the three samples show a semi-conducting behavior between 300 and 5 K, a negative MR is observed corresponding to Tc and Tf. The value of MR decreases for the Cr substituted samples.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

Magnetic susceptibility, χ(T), is investigated in ceramic La1−xSrxMn1−yFeyO3 (LSMFO) samples with x=0.3 and y=0.15−0.25. A ferromagnetic (FM) transition observed in LSMFO is accompanied with an appreciable decrease of the transition temperature with increasing y, which is connected to breaking of the FM double-exchange interaction by doping with Fe. Strong magnetic irreversibility, observed in low (B=10 G) field, gives evidence for frustration of the magnetic state of LSMFO. The FM transition, which is expanded with increasing B, is more pronounced in the samples with y=0.15-0.20 and broadens considerably at y=0.25, where the irreversibility is increased. Well above the transition, χ(T) exhibits a Curie-Weiss asymptotic behavior, yielding very large values of the effective Bohr magneton number per magnetic ion, incompatible with those of Mn or Fe single ions. At y=0.15 and 0.20 a critical behavior of χ−1(T)∼(T/TC−1)γ in the region of the FM transition is characterized by influence of two different magnetic systems, a 3D percolative one with γ=γp≈1.8 and TC=TC(p), and a non-percolative 3D Heisenberg spin system, with γ=γH≈1.4 and TC=TC(H), where TC(p)<TC(H). At y=0.25 the percolative contribution to the critical behavior of χ(T) is not observed. The dependence of χ on T and y gives evidence for phase separation, with onset already near the room temperature, leading to generation of nanosize FM particles in the paramagnetic host matrix of LSMFO. The ferromagnetism of LSMFO is attributable to percolation over the system of such particles and generation of large FM clusters, whereas the frustration is governed presumably by a system of smaller weakly-correlated magnetic units, which do not enter the percolative FM clusters.  相似文献

Double-layered manganite La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 has been synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. It had a metal-to-insulator transition at temperature TM1≈127 K. The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility showed a broad ferromagnetic transition. The two-dimensional (2D)-ferromagnetic ordering temperature (TC2) was observed as ≈245 K. The temperature dependence of its low-field magnetoresistance has been studied. The low-field magnetoresistance of double-layered manganite, in the temperature regions between TM1 and TC2, has been found to follow 1/T5. The observed behaviour of temperature dependence of resistivity and low-field magnetoresistance has been explained in terms of two-phase model where ferromagnetic domains exist in the matrix of paramagnetic regions in which spin-dependent tunneling of charge carriers occurs between the ferromagnetic correlated regions. Based on the two-phase model, the dimension of these ferromagnetic domains inside the paramagnetic matrix has been estimated as ∼12 Å.  相似文献

We synthesized the Mn-doped Mg(In2−xMnx)O4 oxides with 0.03?x?0.55 using a solid-state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples were in a good agreement with that of a distorted orthorhombic spinel phase. Their lattice parameters and unit-cell volumes decrease with x due to the substitution of the smaller Mn3+ ions to the larger In3+ ions. The undoped MgIn2O4 oxide presents diamagnetic signals for 5 K?T?300 K. The M(H) at T=300 K reveals a fairly negative-sloped linear relationship. Neither magnetic hysteresis nor saturation behavior was observed in this parent sample. For the Mn-doped samples, however, positive magnetization were observed between 5 and 300 K even if the x value is as low as 0.03. The mass susceptibility enhances with Mn content and it reaches the highest value of 1.4×10−3 emu/g Oe (at T=300 K) at x=0.45. Furthermore, the Mn-doped oxides with x=0.06 and 0.2, respectively, exhibit nonlinear magnetization curves and small hysteretic loops in low magnetic fields. Susceptibilities of the Mn-doped samples are much higher than those of MnO2, Mn2O3 oxides, and Mn metals. These results show that the oxides have potential to be magnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

The Hall resistivity and magnetization have been investigated in the ferromagnetic state of the bilayered manganite La2−2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (x=0.36). The Hall resistivity shows an increase in both the ordinary and anomalous Hall coefficients at low temperatures below 50 K, a region in which experimental evidence for the spin glass state has been found in a low magnetic field of 1 mT. The origin of the anomalous behavior of the Hall resistivity relevant to magnetic states may lie in the intrinsic microscopic inhomogeneity in a quasi-two-dimensional electron system.  相似文献

La1−xSrxMn1−yFeyO3 nanocrystalline powders were prepared by the sol-gel method as a microwave absorption material. The reflectance, the dielectric loss tan δe and the magnetic loss tan δm of the samples were calculated according to the data of electromagnetism parameters measured by a microwave vector network analyzer in the frequency range 2-18 GHz. The dielectric loss tan δe and the magnetic loss tan δm had a step-change at a certain frequency so that the superiority of dielectric loss change into the superiority of magnetic loss, which indicated that anti-ferromagnetic clusters in the material change into ferromagnetic clusters by absorbing quantum of microwave electromagnetic field when the frequency of incident microwave reaches a certain value. The effective absorption bandwidth higher than 10 dB reached 6.2 GHz. As a result, the La0.8Sr0.2Mn1−yFeyO3 has shown useful applications as a microwave absorption material.  相似文献

The phase diagram and local structure of melt-spun amorphous (a-) Fe100−xYx (22?x?62) alloys were investigated using AC and DC magnetic and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements. The a-Fe–Y system shows reentrant spin glass (RSG) behavior for 42?x?58 and spin glass (SG) behavior for 60?x. Two SG transition temperatures, Tg and Tf, were obtained in the RSG state. The Tg, Tf and Curie temperature TC decrease with increasing x, and the TC and Tg vanish at x=60. A new magnetic phase diagram for the melt-spun a-Fe100−xYx alloys was obtained from magnetic measurements for higher Y concentration. The magnetic states of the a-Fe100−xYx alloys change remarkably around x=60 and an EXAFS study revealed that the average atomic distance between nearest-neighboring Fe atoms changes at approximately x=60.  相似文献

The study of the structural and magnetic phase diagram of the manganites La1−xAgxMnO3 shows similarity with the La1−xSrxMnO3 series, involving a metallic ferromagnetic domain at relatively high temperature (≈300 K). The Ag-system differs from the Sr-one by a much smaller homogeneity range (x≤1/6) and the absence of charge ordering. But the most important feature of the Ag-manganites deals with the exceptionally high magnetoresistance (−25%) at room temperature under 1.2 T, that appears for the composition x=1/6. The latter is interpreted as the coincidence of the optimal double exchange condition (Mn3+:Mn4+=2) with Tmax=300 K (maximum of the ρ(T) curve in zero field).  相似文献

The effect of Al substitution for Mn site in layered manganese oxides La1.3Sr1.7Mn2−xAlxO7 on the magnetic and electrical properties has been investigated. It is interesting that all the samples undergo a similar and complex transition with lowing temperature; they transform from the two-dimensional short-range ferromagnetic order at T*, then enter the three-dimensional long-range ferromagnetic state at TC, at last they display the canted antiferromagnetic state below TN. T*, TC and TN are all reduced with Al content. Resistivity increases sharply with increasing Al concentration, and the metal-insulator transition disappears when x reaches 10%. Additionally, magnetoresistance (MR) effect is weakened. Al substitution dilutes the magnetic active Mn-O-Mn network and weakens the double exchange interaction, and further suppresses FM ordering and metallic conduction. Owing to the anisotropic interaction in the layered perovskite, the magnetic and electrical properties are more sensitive to Al doping level than those in ABO3-type perovskite.  相似文献
