We investigate manifolds with boundary in noncommutative geometry. Spectral triples associated to a symmetric differential operator and a local boundary condition are constructed. We show that there is no tadpole for classical Dirac operators with a chiral boundary condition on spin manifolds.  相似文献

It is shown that any generalized Jordan (triple-)derivation on a 2–torsion free semiprime ring is a generalized derivation and that any generalized Jordan higher derivation on a 2–torsion free semiprime ring is a generalized higher derivation. Then we give several conditions which enable some generalized Jordan derivations on prime rings to degenerate left or right multipliers. Lastly, we apply these degenerating conditions to discuss the range inclusion problems of generalized derivations on noncommutative Banach algebras.  相似文献

Let X be a smooth manifold with boundary of dimension n > 1. The operators of order −n and type zero in Boutet de Monvel's calculus form a subset of Dixmier's trace ideal for the Hilbert space of L 2 sections in vector bundles E over X, F over ∂X. We show that, on these operators, Dixmier's trace can be computed in terms of the same expressions that determine the noncommutative residue. In particular it is independent of the averaging procedure. However, the noncommutative residue and Dixmier's trace are not multiples of each other unless the boundary is empty. As a corollary we show how to compute Dixmier's trace for parametrices or inverses of classical elliptic boundary value problems of the form Pu=f; Tu=0 with an elliptic differential operator P of order n in the interior and a trace operator T. In this particular situation, Dixmier's trace and the noncommutative residue do coincide up to a factor. Received: Received: 13 January 1998  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze problems involving matrix variables for which we use a noncommutative algebra setting. To be more specific, we use a class of functions (called NC analytic functions) defined by power series in noncommuting variables and evaluate these functions on sets of matrices of all dimensions; we call such situations dimension-free. These types of functions have recently been used in the study of dimension-free linear system engineering problems. In this paper we characterize NC analytic maps that send dimension-free matrix balls to dimension-free matrix balls and carry the boundary to the boundary; such maps we call “NC ball maps”. We find that up to normalization, an NC ball map is the direct sum of the identity map with an NC analytic map of the ball into the ball. That is, “NC ball maps” are very simple, in contrast to the classical result of D'Angelo on such analytic maps in C. Another mathematically natural class of maps carries a variant of the noncommutative distinguished boundary to the boundary, but on these our results are limited. We shall be interested in several types of noncommutative balls, conventional ones, but also balls defined by constraints called Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI). What we do here is a small piece of the bigger puzzle of understanding how LMIs behave with respect to noncommutative change of variables.  相似文献

The impetus for this study is the work of Dumas and Rigal on the Jordanian deformation of the ring of coordinate functions on 2×2 matrices. We are also motivated by current interest in birational equivalence of noncommutative rings. Recognizing the construction of the Jordanian matrix algebra as a skew polynomial ring, we construct a family of algebras relative to differential operator rings over a polynomial ring in one variable which are birationally equivalent to the Weyl algebra over a polynomial ring in two variables.  相似文献

In this paper analytic boundary value problems for some classical domains in Cn are developed by using the harmonic analysis due to L.K. Hua. First it is discussed for the version of one variable in order to induce the relation between the analytic boundary value problem and the decomposition of function spaceL2 on the boundary manifold. Then an easy example of several variables, the version of torus in C2, is stated. For the noncommutative classical groupLI, the characteristic boundary of a kind of bounded symmetric domain in C4, the boundary behaviors of the Cauchy integral are obtained by using both the harmonic expansion and polar coordinate transformation. At last we obtain the conditions of solvability of Schwarz problem onLI, if so, the solution is given explicitly.  相似文献

We prove that a commutative Bezout ring is an Hermitian ring if and only if it is a Bezout ring of stable rank 2. It is shown that a noncommutative Bezout ring of stable rank 1 is an Hermitian ring. This implies that a noncommutative semilocal Bezout ring is an Hermitian ring. We prove that the Bezout domain of stable rank 1 with two-element group of units is a ring of elementary divisors if and only if it is a duo-domain.  相似文献

We analyse three different a posteriori error estimators for elliptic partial differential equations. They are based on the evaluation of local residuals with respect to the strong form of the differential equation, on the solution of local problems with Neumann boundary conditions, and on the solution of local problems with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We prove that all three are equivalent and yield global upper and local lower bounds for the true error. Thus adaptive mesh-refinement techniques based on these estimators are capable to detect local singularities of the solution and to appropriately refine the grid near these singularities. Some numerical examples prove the efficiency of the error estimators and the mesh-refinement techniques.  相似文献

In this paper we find conditions that guarantee that regular boundary value problems for elliptic differential-operator equations of the second order in an interval are coercive and Fredholm, and we prove the compactness of a resolvent. We apply this result to find some algebraic conditions that guarantee that regular boundary value problems for degenerate elliptic differential equations of the second order in cylindrical domains have the same properties. Note that considered boundary value conditions are nonlocal and are differential only in their principal part, and a domain is nonsmooth.  相似文献

We consider boundary value problems of arbitrary order for linear differential equations on a geometric graph. Solutions of boundary value problems are coordinated at the interior vertices of the graph and satisfy given conditions at the boundary vertices. For considered boundary value problems, we construct adjoint boundary value problems and obtain a self-adjointness criterion. We describe the structure of the solution set of homogeneous self-adjoint boundary value problems with alternating coefficients of a differential equation and obtain nondegeneracy conditions for these boundary value problems.  相似文献

The special class of the homogeneous vector boundary Riemann problems on the finite sequence of algebraic surfaces is investigated completely. Its coefficients are the noncommutative permutative matrices of the arbitrary but not prime order, and boundary conditions are given on the system of open contours. The constructive solution procedure and definite structure of the canonical solution matrix are obtained and present some generalizations of the classical Riemann problem. Uniqueness theorems are proved for two inverse problems for a fourth-order differential operator with nonseparated boundary conditions. The first of the problems, which has technical applications, is the problem of identification of a differential equation and two boundary conditions, and the second problem is the problem of identification of a differential equation and four boundary conditions. One of two data sets is used as the spectral data of the problem. The first data set is the spectrum of the problem itself (or three of its eigenvalues) and the spectral data of a system of three problems, and the second data set is the spectrum of the problem itself (or three of its eigenvalues) and the spectra of ten boundary value problems.  相似文献

We obtain conditions for the bifurcation of solutions of linear singular Fredholm boundary value problems with a small parameter under the assumption that the unperturbed singular differential system can be reduced to central canonical form. Using the Vishik-Lyusternik method and the technique of Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse matrices, we suggest an algorithm for finding a family of linearly independent solutions of such boundary value problems for the general case in which the number of boundary conditions specified by a linear vector functional does not coincide with the number of unknowns in the singular differential system.  相似文献

For a second-order boundary value problem with operator right-hand side and with functional boundary conditions, we prove solvability theorems with mixed and Dirichlet boundary conditions assuming the existence of a lower and an upper function. In this paper, an algorithm is proposed for the solution of second-order boundary value problems with two-point boundary conditions. The Green’s function method is applied first to transform the ordinary differential equation into an equivalent integral one, which has already satisfied the boundary conditions. And then, the homotopy perturbation method is used to the resulting equation to construct the numerical solution for such problems. Numerical examples demonstrate the efficiency and reliability of the algorithm developed, it is quite accurate and readily implemented for both linear and nonlinear differential equations with homogeneous and nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. Furthermore, the lower order approximation is of higher accuracy for most cases. Some other extended applications of this algorithm are also exhibited.  相似文献

We study two bisingular Dirichlet problem with the additional boundary layer: 1) for the second order linear elliptic equation in a ring, 2) for linear ordinary differential equations of second order in a segment. We construct asymptotic solutions to the three-zone, bisingular Dirichlet problems by using the generalized method of boundary functions and obtain estimates for the residual functions.  相似文献
