Configurations in finite projective planes

Stability of one difference equation with positive coefficients

We consider a linear homogeneous difference equation of ordern with positive coefficients, which is presented in the normal form. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability and asymptotic stability. Kiev University, Kiev. An Ascending Chain Condition on Wedderburn Radicals

In this note we study the properties of Amitsur's example for Wedderburn radicals, introducing the concept of W _n -reduced rings. The theories of commutative ring and reduced ring are generalized to W _n -reduced rings. We characterize the W _n -reduced property and study properties of W _n -reduced rings. It is shown that the classes of semi-commutative rings, W _n -reduced rings, and 2-primal rings are in a strictly increasing order. We extend the class of W _n -reduced rings, observing various kinds of extensions containing classical quotient rings, polynomial rings, and power series rings.

On Strong n-Perfect Rings

In this article we introduce and investigate a particular class of n-perfect rings that we call “strong n-perfect rings.” We are mainly concerned with this class of rings in the context of pullbacks. We also exhibit a class of n-perfect rings that are not strong n-perfect. Finally, we establish the transfer of this notion to the direct product.     

Finite-dimensional (*)-serial algebras

Let A be a finite-dimensional associative algebra with identity over a field k. In this paper we introduce the concept of (*)-serial algebras which is a generalization of serial algebras. We investigate the properties of (*)-serial algebras, and we obtain sufficient and necessary conditions for an associative algebra to be (*)-serial.     

On Rings Whose Reflexive Ideals are Principal

We call a prime Noetherian maximal order R a pseudo-principal ring if every reflexive ideal of R is principal. This class of rings is a broad class properly containing both prime Noetherian pri-(pli) rings and Noetherian unique factorization rings (UFRs). We show that the class of pseudo-principal rings is closed under formation of n × n full matrix rings. Moreover, we prove that if R is a pseudo-principal ring, then the polynomial ring R[x] is also a pseudo-principal ring. We provide examples to illustrate our results.     

Distributive semiprime rings

It is proved that a right distributive semiprime PI ringA is a left distributive ring and for each elementx ∈A there is a positive integern such thatx ⁿ A=Ax ⁿ . We describe both right distributive right Noetherian rings algebraic over the center of the ring and right distributive left Noetherian PI rings. Examples of Armendariz Rings

We construct various examples of Armendariz and related rings by reviewing and extending some results concerning the structure of nil(R). In particular, we give some examples of Armendariz rings related to power series rings and an example of an n-Armendariz ring, for all n ≥ 1, which is not Armendariz.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-Flat and <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-FP-injective modules

In this paper, we study the existence of the n-flat preenvelope and the n-FP-injective cover. We also characterize n-coherent rings in terms of the n-FP-injective and n-flat modules.     

On the construction of CDN[]-groups with elementary commutant of rank two

Quasi-reflexive rings with non-nilpotent minimal one-sided ideals

In this paper we show that a ring is a member of the class of rings named in the title if and only if the ring is quasi-reflexive and contains at least one idempotent canonical quasi-ideal.We also prove the latter criterion is equivalent to several other ones.To attain that, we introduce the concept of a left n-socle and dually that of a right n-socle for arbitrary rings.An example is displayed to show that the presence of e.g.a nonzero right n-socle in a ring does not ensure the existence of a nonzero left n-socle.But in the quasi-reflexive case, it turns out that the notion of a left n-socle coincides with the right one.Finally, we give decomposition results which mainly deal with nonzero n-socles of quasi-reflexive rings and their semigroups n-socles concordantly, thereby, generalizing corresponding work in the semiprime case.     

On Strong π-Regularity and π-Regularity

Rowen showed that the 2 by 2 full matrix rings over strongly π-regular rings need not be strongly π-regular. In this note we extend Rowen's method to the n by n full matrix rings. Moreover we show that the n by n full matrix rings over π-regular rings need not be π-regular.     

Nonlinear d'alembert equation in the pseudo-euclidean spaceR 2,n and its solutions

The Cohomology Ring of Weight Varieties and Polygon Spaces

We use a theorem of S. Tolman and J. Weitsman (The cohomology rings of Abelian symplectic quotients, math. DG/9807173) to find explicit formulæ for the rational cohomology rings of the symplectic reduction of flag varieties in ⁿ, or generic coadjoint orbits of SU(n), by (maximal) torus actions. We also calculate the cohomology ring of the moduli space of n points in P^k, which is isomorphic to the Grassmannian of k planes in ⁿ, by realizing it as a degenerate coadjoint orbit.     

On Weak Armendariz Rings

We introduce weak Armendariz rings which are a generalization of semicommutative rings and Armendariz rings, and investigate their properties. Moreover, we prove that a ring R is weak Armendariz if and only if for any n, the n-by-n upper triangular matrix ring T _n (R) is weak Armendariz. If R is semicommutative, then it is proven that the polynomial ring R[x] over R and the ring R[x]/(x ⁿ ), where (x ⁿ ) is the ideal generated by x ⁿ and n is a positive integer, are weak Armendariz.     

Alternative rings of small order

We construct all the alternative (but not associative) algebras of dimension at most 5 over a perfect field. For any prime p, we show that there are fifteen alternative rings of prime power order pⁿ ,n≤5, which are not associative. None of these rings is nil. Just one has a unity.     

MP-injective rings and MGP-injective rings

A ring R is said to be right MP-injective if every monomorphism from a principal right ideal to R extends to an endomorphism of R. A ring R is said to be right MGP-injective if, for any 0 ≠ a ∈ R, there exists a positive integer n such that a ⁿ ≠ 0 and every monomorphism from a ⁿ R to R extends to R. We shall study characterizations and properties of these two classes of rings. Some interesting results on these rings are obtained. In particular, conditions under which right MGP-injective rings are semisimple artinian rings, von Neumann regular rings, and QF-rings are given.     

The isomorphism relation between tree-automatic Structures

An ω-tree-automatic structure is a relational structure whose domain and relations are accepted by Muller or Rabin tree automata. We investigate in this paper the isomorphism problem for ω-tree-automatic structures. We prove first that the isomorphism relation for ω-tree-automatic boolean algebras (respectively, partial orders, rings, commutative rings, non commutative rings, non commutative groups, nilpotent groups of class n ≥ 2) is not determined by the axiomatic system ZFC. Then we prove that the isomorphism problem for ω-tree-automatic boolean algebras (respectively, partial orders, rings, commutative rings, non commutative rings, non commutative groups, nilpotent groups of class n ≥ 2) is neither a Σ₂¹-set nor a Π₂¹-set.     

On the structure of incoming and outgoing subspaces for a wave equations in ℝ n

Coherent rings with finite self-FP-injective dimension

In this paper, we generalize the characterization of Gorenstein flat modules over Gorenstein rings to n ? FC rings (coherent rings with finite sdf?FP?injective dimension), and characterize n ? FC rings in terms of Gorenstein flat and projective modules.
