In this paper, we prove that R is a two-sided Artinian ring and J is a right annihilator ideal if and only if (i) for any nonzero right module, there is a nonzero linear map from it to a projective module; (ii) every submodule of RR is not a radical module for some right coherent rings. We call a ring a right X ring if Homa(M, R) = 0 for any right module M implies that M = 0. We can prove some left Goldie and right X rings are right Artinian rings. Moreover we characterize semisimple rings by using X rings. A famous Faith‘s conjecture is whether a semipimary PF ring is a QF ring. Similarly we study the relationship between X rings and QF and get many interesting results.  相似文献

A ring R is called left “GF-closed”, if the class of all Gorenstein flat left R-modules is closed under extensions. The class of left GF-closed rings includes strictly the one of right coherent rings and the one of rings of finite weak dimension.

In this article, we investigate the Gorenstein flat dimension over left GF-closed rings. Namely, we generalize the fact that the class of all Gorenstein flat left modules is projectively resolving over right coherent rings to left GF-closed rings. Also, we generalize the characterization of Gorenstein flat left modules (then of Gorenstein flat dimension of left modules) over right coherent rings to left GF-closed rings. Finally, using direct products of rings, we show how to construct a left GF-closed ring that is neither right coherent nor of finite weak dimension.  相似文献

A result of Ginn and Moss asserts that a left and right noetherian ring with essential right socle is left and right artinian. There are examples of right finitely embedded rings with ACC on left and right annihilators which are not artinian. Motivated by this, it was shown by Faith that a commutative, finitely embedded ring with ACC on annihilators (and square-free socle) is artinian (quasi-Frobenius). A ring R is called right minsymmetric if, whenever k R is a simple right ideal of R, then R k is also simple. In this paper we show that a right noetherian right minsymmetric ring with essential right socle is right artinian. As a consequence we show that a ring is quasi-Frobenius if and only if it is a right and left mininjective, right finitely embedded ring with ACC on right annihilators. This extends the known work in the artinian case, and also extends Faith's result to the non-commutative case.  相似文献

A right module M over a ring R is said to be retractable if Hom R (M, N) ≠ 0 for each nonzero submodule N of M. We show that M ? R RG is a retractable RG-module if and only if M R is retractable for every finite group G. The ring R is (finitely) mod-retractable if every (finitely generated) right R-module is retractable. Some comparisons between max rings, semiartinian rings, perfect rings, noetherian rings, nonsingular rings, and mod-retractable rings are investigated. In particular, we prove ring-theoretical criteria of right mod-retractability for classes of all commutative, left perfect, and right noetherian rings.  相似文献

Relative notions of flatness are introduced as a mean to gauge the extent of the flatness of any given module. Every module is thus endowed with a flatness domain and, for every ring, the collection of flatness domains of all of its modules is a lattice with respect to class inclusion. This lattice, the flatness profile of the ring, allows us, in particular, to focus on modules which have a smallest flatness domain (namely, one consisting of all regular modules.) We establish that such modules exist over arbitrary rings and we call them Rugged Modules. Rings all of whose (cyclic) modules are rugged are shown to be precisely the von Neumann regular rings. We consider rings without a flatness middle class (i.e., rings for which modules must be either flat or rugged.) We obtain that, over a right Noetherian ring every left module is rugged or flat if and only if every right module is poor or injective if and only if R = S×T, where S is semisimple Artinian and T is either Morita equivalent to a right PCI-domain, or T is right Artinian whose Jacobson radical properly contains no nonzero ideals. Character modules serve to bridge results about flatness and injectivity profiles; in particular, connections between rugged and poor modules are explored. If R is a ring whose regular left modules are semisimple, then a right module M is rugged if and only if its character left module M+ is poor. Rugged Abelian groups are fully characterized and shown to coincide precisely with injectively poor and projectively poor Abelian groups. Also, in order to get a feel for the class of rugged modules over an arbitrary ring, we consider the homological ubiquity of rugged modules in the category of all modules in terms of the feasibility of rugged precovers and covers for arbitrary modules.  相似文献

FP-RINGS
《代数通讯》2013,41(1):415-425
A ring R is called right FP-injective if every R-homomor-phism from a finitely generated submodule of a free right R-module F into R extends to F. In this paper a ring R will be called a right FP-ring if R is semiperfect, right FP-injective and has an essential right socle. The class of FP-rings strictly contains the class of right (and left) pseudo-Frobenius rings, and we show that it is right-left symmetric and Morita-invariant. As an application we show that if R is a left perfect right FP-injective ring, then R is quasi-Frobenius if and only if the second right socle of R is finitely generated as a right ideal of R. This extends the known results in the right selfinjective case.  相似文献

Rickart Modules
The concept of right Rickart rings (or right p.p. rings) has been extensively studied in the literature. In this article, we study the notion of Rickart modules in the general module theoretic setting by utilizing the endomorphism ring of a module. We provide several characterizations of Rickart modules and study their properties. It is shown that the class of rings R for which every right R-module is Rickart is precisely that of semisimple artinian rings, while the class of rings R for which every free R-module is Rickart is precisely that of right hereditary rings. Connections between a Rickart module and its endomorphism ring are studied. A characterization of precisely when the endomorphism ring of a Rickart module will be a right Rickart ring is provided. We prove that a Rickart module with no infinite set of nonzero orthogonal idempotents in its endomorphism ring is precisely a Baer module. We show that a finitely generated module over a principal ideal domain (PID) is Rickart exactly if it is either semisimple or torsion-free. Examples which delineate the concepts and results are provided.  相似文献

A ring R is called right Johns if R is right noetherian and every right ideal of R is a right annihilator. R is called strongly right Johns if the matrix ring M n (R) is right Johns for each integer n ≥ 1. The Faith–Menal conjecture is an open conjecture on QF rings. It says that every strongly right Johns ring is QF. It is proved that the conjecture is true if every closed left ideal of the ring R is finitely generated. This result improves the known result that the conjecture is true if R is a left CS ring.  相似文献

It is known that a ring R is left Noetherian if and only if every left R-module has an injective (pre)cover. We show that (1) if R is a right n-coherent ring, then every right R-module has an (n, d)-injective (pre)cover; (2) if R is a ring such that every (n, 0)-injective right R-module is n-pure extending, and if every right R-module has an (n, 0)-injective cover, then R is right n-coherent. As applications of these results, we give some characterizations of (n, d)-rings, von Neumann regular rings and semisimple rings.  相似文献

We continue the study of the right finite intersection property under a weaker condition on annihilators, introducing the concept of generalized right finite intersection property (simply, generalized right FIP). We observe the structure of rings with the generalized right FIP and examine the generalized right FIP for various kinds of basic extensions of rings with the property. We show that the generalized right FIP does not go up to polynomial rings, and that the 2-by-2 full matrix ring over a domain has the generalized right FIP. In the process, we also obtain an equivalent condition for which a nonzero polynomial, over the ring of integers modulo n ≥ 2, is a non-zero-divisor.  相似文献

Abstract

We prove that under conditions of regularity the maximal left quotient ring of a corner of a ring is the corner of the maximal left quotient ring. We show that if R and S are two non-unital Morita equivalent rings then their maximal left quotient rings are not necessarily Morita equivalent. This situation contrasts with the unital case. However we prove that the ideals generated by two Morita equivalent idempotent rings inside their own maximal left quotient rings are Morita equivalent.  相似文献

We study the structure of rings over which every right module is an essential extension of a semisimple module by an injective one. A ring R is called a right max-ring if every nonzero right R-module has a maximal submodule. We describe normal regular semiartinian rings whose endomorphism ring of the minimal injective cogenerator is a max-ring.  相似文献

Abstract

We show that left IF rings (rings such that every injective left module is flat) have certain regular-like properties. For instance, we prove that every left IF reduced ring is strongly regular. We also give characterizations of (left and right) IF rings. In particular, we show that a ring R is IF if and only if every finitely generated left (and right) ideal is the annihilator of a finite subset of R.  相似文献

Let R be a left coherent ring. We first prove that a right R-module M is strongly copure flat if and only if Ext i (M, C) = 0 for all flat cotorsion right R-modules C and i ≥ 1. Then we define and investigate copure flat dimensions of left coherent rings. Finally, we give some new characterizations of n-FC rings.  相似文献

We say a ring R is (centrally) generalized left annihilator of principal ideal is pure (APP) if the left annihilator ? R (Ra) n is (centrally) right s-unital for every element a ∈ R and some positive integer n. The class of generalized left APP-rings includes generalized left (principally) quasi-Baer rings and left APP-rings (and hence left p.q.-Baer rings, right p.q.-Baer rings, and right PP-rings). The class of centrally generalized left APP-rings is closed under finite direct products, full matrix rings, and Morita invariance. The behavior of the (centrally) generalized left APP condition is investigated with respect to various constructions and extensions, and it is used to generalize many results on generalized PP-rings with IFP and semiprime left APP-rings. Moreover, we extend a theorem of Kist for commutative PP rings to centrally generalized left APP rings for which every prime ideal contains a unique minimal prime ideal without using topological arguments. Furthermore, we give a complete characterization of a considerably large family of centrally generalized left APP rings which have a sheaf representation.  相似文献

It is well known that the Rickart property of rings is not a left-right symmetric property. We extend the notion of the left Rickart property of rings to a general module theoretic setting and define 𝔏-Rickart modules. We study this notion for a right R-module M R where R is any ring and obtain its basic properties. While it is known that the endomorphism ring of a Rickart module is a right Rickart ring, we show that the endomorphism ring of an 𝔏-Rickart module is not a left Rickart ring in general. If M R is a finitely generated 𝔏-Rickart module, we prove that End R (M) is a left Rickart ring. We prove that an 𝔏-Rickart module with no set of infinitely many nonzero orthogonal idempotents in its endomorphism ring is a Baer module. 𝔏-Rickart modules are shown to satisfy a certain kind of nonsingularity which we term “endo-nonsingularity.” Among other results, we prove that M is endo-nonsingular and End R (M) is a left extending ring iff M is a Baer module and End R (M) is left cononsingular.  相似文献

Laurent rings
This is a study of ring-theoretic properties of a Laurent ring over a ring A, which is defined to be any ring formed from the additive group of Laurent series in a variable x over A, such that left multiplication by elements of A and right multiplication by powers of x obey the usual rules, and such that the lowest degree of the product of two nonzero series is not less than the sum of the lowest degrees of the factors. The main examples are skew-Laurent series rings A((x; ϕ)) and formal pseudo-differential operator rings A((t −1; δ)), with multiplication twisted by either an automorphism ϕ or a derivation δ of the coefficient ring A (in the latter case, take x = t −1). Generalized Laurent rings are also studied. The ring of fractional n-adic numbers (the localization of the ring of n-adic integers with respect to the multiplicative set generated by n) is an example of a generalized Laurent ring. Necessary and/or sufficient conditions are derived for Laurent rings to be rings of various standard types. The paper also includes some results on Laurent series rings in several variables. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 12, No. 3, pp. 151–224, 2006.  相似文献

This paper investigates closure properties possessed by certain classes of finite subdirect products of prime rings. If ℳ is a special class of prime rings then the class ℳ of all finite subdirect products of rings in ℳ is shown to be weakly special. A ring S is said to be a right tight extension [resp. tight extension] of a subring R if every nonzero right ideal [resp. right ideal and left ideal] of S meets R nontrivially. Every hereditary class of semiprime rings closed under tight extensions is weakly special. Each of the following conditions imposed on a semiprime ring yields a hereditary class closed under right tight extensions: ACC on right annihilators; finite right Goldie dimension; right Goldie. The class of all finite subdirect products of uniformly strongly prime rings is shown to be closed under tight extensions, answering a published question. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this paper we carry out a systematic study of various ring theoretic properties of formal triangular matrix rings. Some definitive results are obtained on these rings concerning properties such as being respectively left Kasch, right mininjective, clean, potent, right PF or a ring of stable rank ≤ n. The concepts of a strong left Kasch ring, a strong right mininjective ring are introduced and it is determined when the triangular matrix rings are respectively strong left Kasch or strong right mininjective. It is also proved that being strong left Kasch or strong right mininjective are Morita invariant properties.  相似文献

For an endomorphism α of a ring R, we introduce the notion of an α-Armendariz ring to investigate the relative Armendariz properties. This concept extends the class of Armendariz rings and gives us an opportunity to study Armendariz rings in a general setting. It is obvious that every Armendariz ring is an α-Armendariz ring, but we shall give an example to show that there exists a right α-Armendariz ring which is not Armendariz. A number of properties of this version are established. It is shown that if I is a reduced ideal of a ring R such that R/I is a right α-Armendariz ring, then R is right α-Armendariz. For an endomorphism α of a ring R, we show that R is right α-Armendariz if and only if R[x] is right α-Armendariz. Moreover, a weak form of α-Armendariz rings is considered in the last section. We show that in general weak α-Armendariz rings need not be α-Armendariz.  相似文献
