In this paper we prove that if E and F are reflexive Banach spaces and G is a closed linear subspace of the space \(\mathcal {L}_{K}(E;F)\) of all compact linear operators from E into F, then G is either reflexive or non-isomorphic to a dual space. This result generalizes (Israel J Math 21:38-49, 1975, Theorem 2) and gives the solution to a problem posed by Feder (Ill J Math 24:196-205, 1980, Problem 1). We also prove that if E and F are reflexive Banach spaces, then the space \(\mathcal {P}_{w}(^{n}E;F)\) of all n-homogeneous polynomials from E into F which are weakly continuous on bounded sets is either reflexive or non-isomorphic to a dual space.  相似文献

Let n be a natural number, and let A be an indecomposable cellular algebra such that the spectrum of its Cartan matrix C is of the form {n, 1, …., 1}. In general, not every natural number could be the number of non-isomorphic simple modules over such a cellular algebra. Thus, two natural questions arise: (1) which numbers could be the number of non-isomorphic simple modules over such a cellular algebra A ? (2) Given such a number, is there a cellular algebra such that its Cartan matrix has the desired property ? In this paper, we shall completely answer the first question, and give a partial answer to the second question by constructing cellular algebras with the pre-described Cartan matrix.  相似文献

We say that an R-module M is virtually semisimple if each submodule of M is isomorphic to a direct summand of M. A nonzero indecomposable virtually semisimple module is then called a virtually simple module. We carry out a study of virtually semisimple modules and modules which are direct sums of virtually simple modules . Our study provides several natural generalizations of the Wedderburn-Artin Theorem and an analogous to the classical Krull-Schmidt Theorem. Some applications of these theorems are indicated. For instance, it is shown that the following statements are equivalent for a ring R: (i) Every finitely generated left (right) R-module is virtually semisimple; (ii) Every finitely generated left (right) R-module is a direct sum of virtually simple R-modules; (iii) \(R\cong {\prod }_{i = 1}^{k} M_{n_{i}}(D_{i})\) where k,n 1,…,n k ? and each D i is a principal ideal V-domain; and (iv) Every nonzero finitely generated left R-module can be written uniquely (up to isomorphism and order of the factors) in the form R m 1 ⊕… ⊕ R m k where each R m i is either a simple R-module or a virtually simple direct summand of R.  相似文献

Let M~n(n ≥ 4) be an oriented closed submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an(n + p)-dimensional locally symmetric Riemannian manifold N~(n+p). We prove that if the sectional curvature of N is positively pinched in [δ, 1], and the Ricci curvature of M satisfies a pinching condition, then M is either a totally umbilical submanifold, or δ = 1, and N is of constant curvature. This result generalizes the geometric rigidity theorem due to Xu and Gu[15].  相似文献

In this paper, we shall be concerned with the existence result of the following problem,
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{l} -\text {div}\left( a(x,u,\nabla u)\right) -\text {div}(\Phi (x,u))= f \ \ \mathrm{in}\ \Omega ,\\ u=0 \text { on } \partial \Omega , \end{array} \right. \end{aligned}$$

with the second term f belongs to \(L^1(\Omega )\). The growth and the coercivity conditions on the monotone vector field a are prescribed by a generalized N-function M. We assume any restriction on M, therefore we work with Musielak–Orlicz spaces which are not necessarily reflexive. The lower order term \(\Phi \) is a Carathéodory function satisfying only a growth condition.

Let N = {0, 1, · · ·, n ? 1}. A strongly idempotent self-orthogonal row Latin magic array of order n (SISORLMA(n) for short) based on N is an n × n array M satisfying the following properties: (1) each row of M is a permutation of N, and at least one column is not a permutation of N; (2) the sums of the n numbers in every row and every column are the same; (3) M is orthogonal to its transpose; (4) the main diagonal and the back diagonal of M are 0, 1, · · ·, n ? 1 from left to right. In this paper, it is proved that an SISORLMA(n) exists if and only if n ? {2, 3}. As an application, it is proved that a nonelementary rational diagonally ordered magic square exists if and only if n ? {2, 3}, and a rational diagonally ordered magic square exists if and only if n ≠ 2.  相似文献

Let M n (n ? 3) be a complete Riemannian manifold with sec M ? 1, and let \(M_i^{n_i }\) (i = 1, 2) be two complete totally geodesic submanifolds in M. We prove that if n1 + n2 = n ? 2 and if the distance |M1M2| ? π/2, then M i is isometric to \(\mathbb{S}^{n_i } /\mathbb{Z}_h\), \(\mathbb{C}P^{n_i /2}\), or \(\mathbb{C}P^{n_i /2} /\mathbb{Z}_2 \) with the canonical metric when n i > 0; and thus, M is isometric to S n /? h , ?Pn/2, or ?Pn/2/?2 except possibly when n = 3 and \(M_1 (or M_2 )\mathop \cong \limits^{iso} \mathbb{S}^1 /\mathbb{Z}_h \) with h ? 2 or n = 4 and \(M_1 (or M_2 )\mathop \cong \limits^{iso} \mathbb{R}P^2 \).  相似文献

Let M be a left R-module, \({\mathcal{A}}\)be a family of some submodules of M and \({\mathcal{B}}\)be a family of some left R-modules. In this article, we introduce and characterize \({\mathcal{A}}\)-coherent, \({P\mathcal{A}}\), \({F\mathcal{A}}\), M-\({\mathcal{A}}\)-injective (flat) and strongly \({\mathcal{B}}\)-injective (flat) modules, which are generalizations of coherent, PS, FS, M-injective (flat) and strongly M-injective modules, respectively. We extend some known results to this general structure.  相似文献

We prove that there do not exist CR submanifolds Mn of maximal CR dimension of a complex projective space \({\mathbf{P}^{\frac{n+p}{2}}(\mathbf{C})}\) with flat normal connection D of M, when the distinguished normal vector field is parallel with respect to D. If D is lift-flat, then there exists a totally geodesic complex projective subspace \({\mathbf{P}^{\frac{n+1}{2}}(\mathbf{C})}\) of \({\mathbf{P}^{\frac{n+p}{2}}(\mathbf{C})}\) such that M is a real hypersurface of \({\mathbf{P}^{\frac{n+1}{2}}(\mathbf{C})}\).  相似文献

It is shown that if a uniformly contractible Riemannian n-manifold (M,g) is K-quasi-isometric to an n-dimensional normed space\((V^{n},\|\cdot\|)\), (K ≥  1), then\(\liminf_{R\rightarrow \infty}\frac{{Vol}_g( {Ball}_{R})}{R^{n}\omega_{n}}\geq\frac{1}{K^{2n}}\) where ω n is the volume of the unit Euclidean ball. In particular, if M is uniformly contractible and\(d_{GH}((M,d_g), (V^n,\|\cdot\|)) < \infty \), then M has at least Euclidean volume growth. This corollary covers an earlier result by Burago and Ivanov. Our results are motivated by a volume growth theorem contained in Gromov’s book [Gromov in Progress in Mathematics, vol. 152, Birkhäuser, Boston, 1999, p. 256], we give a detailed proof of this theorem. Using the same argument, we also derive a generalization of the theorem which is pointed out by Gromov.  相似文献

We classify, up to diffeomorphism, all closed smooth manifolds homeomorphic to the complex projective n-space \(\mathbb {C}\textbf {P}^{n}\), where n=3 and 4. Let M2n be a closed smooth 2n-manifold homotopy equivalent to \(\mathbb {C}\textbf {P}^{n}\). We show that, up to diffeomorphism, M6 has a unique differentiable structure and M8 has at most two distinct differentiable structures. We also show that, up to concordance, there exist at least two distinct differentiable structures on a finite sheeted cover N2n of \(\mathbb {C}\textbf {P}^{n}\) for n=4,7 or 8 and six distinct differentiable structures on N10.  相似文献

In this paper, for a vertex operator algebra V with an automorphism g of order T, an admissible V-module M and a fixed nonnegative rational number n ∈1/T Z_+, we construct an A_(g,n)(V)-bimodule Ag,n(M) and study its properties, discuss the connections between bimodule A_(g,n)(M) and intertwining operators. Especially, bimodule A _(g,n)-1T(M) is a natural quotient of A_(g,n)(M) and there is a linear isomorphism between the space IM~k M Mjof intertwining operators and the space of homomorphisms HomA_(g,n)(V)(A_(g,n)(M)  A_(g,n)(V)M~j(s), M~k(t)) for s, t ≤ n, M~j, M~k are g-twisted V modules, if V is g-rational.  相似文献

Let R be a ring. A subclass T of left R-modules is called a weak torsion class if it is closed under homomorphic images and extensions. Let T be a weak torsion class of left R-modules and n a positive integer. Then a left R-module M is called T-finitely generated if there exists a finitely generated submodule N such that M/NT; a left R-module A is called (T,n)-presented if there exists an exact sequence of left R-modules
$$0 \to {K_{n - 1}} \to {F_{n - 1}} \to \cdots \to {F_1} \to {F_0} \to M \to 0$$
such that F0,..., Fn?1 are finitely generated free and Kn?1 is T-finitely generated; a left R-module M is called (T,n)-injective, if Ext n R (A,M) = 0 for each (T, n+1)-presented left R-module A; a right R-module M is called (T,n)-flat, if Tor R n (M,A) = 0 for each (T, n+1)-presented left R-module A. A ring R is called (T,n)-coherent, if every (T, n+1)-presented module is (n + 1)-presented. Some characterizations and properties of these modules and rings are given.

We investigate parallel submanifolds of a Riemannian symmetric space N. The special case of a symmetric submanifold has been investigated by many authors before and is well understood. We observe that there is an intrinsic property of the second fundamental form which distinguishes full symmetric submanifolds from arbitrary full, complete, parallel submanifolds of N, usually called “1-fullness” of M. Furthermore, for every parallel submanifold \({M\subset N}\) we consider the pullback bundle T N| M with the linear connection induced by \({\nabla^N}\) . Then there exists a distinguished parallel subbundle \({\mathcal {O}M}\) , usually called the “second osculating bundle” of M. Given a parallel isometric immersion from a symmetric space M into N, we can describe the “extrinsic” holonomy Lie algebra of \({\mathcal {O} M}\) by means of the second fundamental form and the curvature tensor of N at some fixed point. If moreover N is simply connected and M is even a full symmetric submanifold of N, then we will calculate the “extrinsic” holonomy Lie algebra of T N| M in an explicit form.  相似文献

Let R and S be associative rings and S V R a semidualizing (S-R)-bimodule. An R-module N is said to be V-Gorenstein injective if there exists a Hom R (I V (R),?) and Hom R (?,I V (R)) exact exact complex \( \cdots \to {I_1}\xrightarrow{{{d_0}}}{I_0} \to {I^0}\xrightarrow{{{d_0}}}{I^1} \to \cdots \) of V-injective modules I i and I i , i ∈ N0, such that N ? Im(I 0I 0). We will call N to be strongly V-Gorenstein injective in case that all modules and homomorphisms in the above exact complex are equal, respectively. It is proved that the class of V-Gorenstein injective modules are closed under extension, direct summand and is a subset of the Auslander class A V (R) which leads to the fact that V-Gorenstein injective modules admit exact right I V (R)-resolution. By using these facts, and thinking of the fact that the class of strongly V-Gorenstein injective modules is not closed under direct summand, it is proved that an R-module N is strongly V-Gorenstein injective if and only if NE is strongly V-Gorenstein injective for some V-injective module E. Finally, it is proved that an R-module N of finite V-Gorenstein injective injective dimension admits V-Gorenstein injective preenvelope which leads to the fact that, for a natural integer n, Gorenstein V-injective injective dimension of N is bounded to n if and only if \(Ext_{{I_V}\left( R \right)}^{ \geqslant n + 1}\left( {I,N} \right) = 0\) for all modules I with finite I V (R)-injective dimension.  相似文献

Let M and N be modules over an artin algebra such that M degenerates to N. We show that any submodule of M degenerates to a submodule of N. This suggests that a composition series of M will in some sense degenerate to a composition series of N. We then study a subvariety of the module variety, consisting of those representations where all matrices are upper triangular. We show that these representations can be seen as representations of composition series, and that the orbit closures describe the above mentioned degeneration of composition series.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that if S is a set of operators acting on a separable L p -space X, 1 ≤ p < ∞ (or, more generally, on any separable Köthe function space) such that S is indecomposable (that is, no non-trivial subspace of X of the form L p (A), where A is measurable, is a common S-invariant subspace), then \(\overline {span} \) S admits an indecomposable operator. As applications, we obtain some new results about transitive algebas on separable Hilbert spaces, as well as an extension of the simultaneous Wielandt theorem to semigroups of operators acting on separable L p -spaces.  相似文献

Let L, N and M be positive definite integral \({\mathbb{Z}}\) -lattices. In this paper, we show some relation between the weighted sum of representations of L and N by gen(M) and the weighted sum of extensions of \(\tilde M_{\tilde \sigma}\) in the gen(M σ) via N η when M is even and gcd(dL, dM) =  1. As a consequence of the particular case when M is even unimodular, we recapture the Böcherer formula (13) in (Böcherer, Maths Z 183:21–46, 1983) for the relation of the Fourier coefficients between Eisenstein series and Jacobi–Eisenstein series.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the k-quasi-M-hyponormal operator and mainly prove that if T is a k-quasi-M-hyponormal operator, then \(\sigma _{ja}(T)\backslash \{0\}=\sigma _{a}(T)\backslash \{0\}\), and the spectrum is continuous on the class of all k-quasi-M-hyponormal operators; let \(d_{AB}\in B(B(H))\) denote either the generalized derivation \(\delta _{AB}= L_{A}-R_{B}\) or the elementary operator \(\Delta _{AB} =L_{A}R_{B}- I\), we show that if A and \(B^{*}\) are k-quasi-M-hyponormal operators, then \(d_{AB}\) is polaroid and generalized Weyl’s theorem holds for \(f(d_{AB})\), where f is an analytic function on \(\sigma (d_{AB})\) and f is not constant on each connected component of the open set U containing \(\sigma (d_{AB})\). In additon, we discuss the hyperinvariant subspace problem for k-quasi-M-hyponormal operators.  相似文献

Let M 0=G 0/H be a (pseudo)-Riemannian homogeneous spin manifold, with reductive decomposition \(\mathfrak {g}_{0}=\mathfrak {h}+\mathfrak {m}\) and let S(M 0) be the spin bundle defined by the spin representation \(\tilde{ \operatorname {Ad}}:H\rightarrow \mathrm {GL}_{\mathbb {R}}(S)\) of the stabilizer H. This article studies the superizations of M 0, i.e. its extensions to a homogeneous supermanifold M=G/H whose sheaf of superfunctions is isomorphic to the sheaf of sections of Λ(S *(M 0)). Here G is the Lie supergroup associated with a certain extension of the Lie algebra of symmetry \(\mathfrak {g}_{0}\) to an algebra of supersymmetry \(\mathfrak {g}=\mathfrak {g}_{\overline {0}}+\mathfrak {g}_{\overline {1}}=\mathfrak {g}_{0}+S\) via the Kostant-Koszul construction. Each algebra of supersymmetry naturally determines a flat connection \(\nabla^{\mathcal {S}}\) in the spin bundle S(M 0). Killing vectors together with generalized Killing spinors (i.e. \(\nabla^{\mathcal {S}}\)-parallel spinors) are interpreted as the values of appropriate geometric symmetries of M, namely even and odd Killing fields. An explicit formula for the Killing representation of the algebra of supersymmetry is obtained, generalizing some results of Koszul. The generalized spin connection \(\nabla^{\mathcal {S}}\) defines a superconnection on M, via the super-version of a theorem of Wang.  相似文献
