It is well known that the biharmonic equation Δ2u=u|u|p−1 with p∈(1,∞) has positive solutions on Rn if and only if the growth of the nonlinearity is critical or supercritical. We close a gap in the existing literature by proving the existence and uniqueness, up to scaling and symmetry, of oscillatory radial solutions on Rn in the subcritical case. Analyzing the nodal properties of these solutions, we also obtain precise information about sign-changing large radial solutions and radial solutions of the Dirichlet problem on a ball.  相似文献

The energy method in the Fourier space is useful in deriving the decay estimates for problems in the whole space Rn. In this paper, we study half space problems in and develop the energy method in the partial Fourier space obtained by taking the Fourier transform with respect to the tangential variable xRn−1. For the variable x1R+ in the normal direction, we use L2 space or weighted L2 space. We apply this energy method to the half space problem for damped wave equations with a nonlinear convection term and prove the asymptotic stability of planar stationary waves by showing a sharp convergence rate for t→∞. The result obtained in this paper is a refinement of the previous one in Ueda et al. (2008) [13].  相似文献

We investigate entire radial solutions of the semilinear biharmonic equation Δ2u=λexp(u) in Rn, n?5, λ>0 being a parameter. We show that singular radial solutions of the corresponding Dirichlet problem in the unit ball cannot be extended as solutions of the equation to the whole of Rn. In particular, they cannot be expanded as power series in the natural variable s=log|x|. Next, we prove the existence of infinitely many entire regular radial solutions. They all diverge to −∞ as |x|→∞ and we specify their asymptotic behaviour. As in the case with power-type nonlinearities [F. Gazzola, H.-Ch. Grunau, Radial entire solutions for supercritical biharmonic equations, Math. Ann. 334 (2006) 905-936], the entire singular solution x?−4log|x| plays the role of a separatrix in the bifurcation picture. Finally, a technique for the computer assisted study of a broad class of equations is developed. It is applied to obtain a computer assisted proof of the underlying dynamical behaviour for the bifurcation diagram of a corresponding autonomous system of ODEs, in the case n=5.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic decay rates to the planar rarefaction waves to the Cauchy problem for a hyperbolic-elliptic coupled system called as a model system of the radiating gas in Rn (n=3,4,5) if the initial perturbations corresponding to the planar rarefaction waves are sufficiently small in (H2L1W2,6) (Rn). The analysis is based on the Lp-energy method and several special interpolation inequalities.  相似文献

In this note, we investigate the regularity of the extremal solution u? for the semilinear elliptic equation −△u+c(x)⋅∇u=λf(u) on a bounded smooth domain of Rn with Dirichlet boundary condition. Here f is a positive nondecreasing convex function, exploding at a finite value a∈(0,∞). We show that the extremal solution is regular in the low-dimensional case. In particular, we prove that for the radial case, all extremal solutions are regular in dimension two.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem in Rn,n≥1, for a semilinear damped wave equation with nonlinear memory. Global existence and asymptotic behavior as t of small data solutions have been established in the case when 1≤n≤3. In this paper, we investigate the regularizing effect of a non-local operator on first-order Hamilton-Jacobi equations. We prove that there exists a unique solution that is C2 in space and C1 in time. In order to do so, we combine viscosity solution techniques and Green's function techniques. Viscosity solution theory provides the existence of a W1,∞ solution as well as uniqueness and stability results. A Duhamel's integral representation of the equation involving the Green's function permits to prove further regularity. We also state the existence of C solutions (in space and time) under suitable assumptions on the Hamiltonian. We finally give an error estimate in L norm between the viscosity solution of the pure Hamilton-Jacobi equation and the solution of the integro-differential equation with a vanishing non-local part.  相似文献

In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of globally smooth solutions of the Cauchy problem for the multidimensional isentropic hydrodynamic model for semiconductors in Rd. We prove that smooth solutions (close to equilibrium) of the problem converge to a stationary solution exponentially fast as t→+∞.  相似文献

In this paper we study the large time behavior of non-negative solutions to the Cauchy problem of utumuq in RN×(0,∞), where m>1 and q=qcm+2/N is a critical exponent. For non-negative initial value u(x,0)=u0(x)∈L1(RN), we show that the solution converges, if u0(x)(1+|x|)k is bounded for some k>N, to a unique fundamental solution of utum, independent of the initial value, with additional logarithmic anomalous decay exponent in time as t→∞.  相似文献
