Let B be the ring of integral valued polynomials over a noetherian domain A. We study in which case finitely generated ideals of B are uniquely determined by their ideals of values at each element of A. We give necessary and sufficient conditions which are verified for example when A is any ring of integers of an algebraic number field, such that each quotient ring Am with respect to a maximal ideal m is analytically irreducible.  相似文献

This paper investigates situations where a property of a ring can be tested on a set of “prime right ideals.” Generalizing theorems of Cohen and Kaplansky, we show that every right ideal of a ring is finitely generated (resp. principal) iff every “prime right ideal” is finitely generated (resp. principal), where the phrase “prime right ideal” can be interpreted in one of many different ways. We also use our methods to show that other properties can be tested on special sets of right ideals, such as the right artinian property and various homological properties. Applying these methods, we prove the following noncommutative generalization of a result of Kaplansky: a (left and right) noetherian ring is a principal right ideal ring iff all of its maximal right ideals are principal. A counterexample shows that the left noetherian hypothesis cannot be dropped. Finally, we compare our results to earlier generalizations of Cohen’s and Kaplansky’s theorems in the literature.  相似文献

Let A be a semprime, right noetherian ring equipped with an automorphism α, and let B: = A[[y; α]] denote the corresponding skew power series ring (which is also semiprime and right noetherian). If all finitely generated rings in a variety of associative rings satisfy the ascending chain condition on two-sided ideals, the variety is called locally weak noetherian. If there is an upper bound on nilpotency indices of nilpotent rings in a variety, the variety is called a finite index variety. We prove that the join of a finitely based locally weak noetherian variety and a variety of finite index is also finitely based and locally weak noetherian. One consequence of this result is that if an associative ring variety is connected by a finite path in the lattice of all associative ring varieties to a finitely based locally weak noetherian variety then such variety is also finitely based and locally weak noetherian.  相似文献

We examine some topological algebras with ascending or descending chain condition. We prove that a commutative noetherian F-algebra is necessarily a Q-algebra. We characterize noetherian F-algebras which are Q-algebras among those whose left ideals are closed. We show that any commutative artinian m-convex algebra is finite dimensional.  相似文献

Systems of equations and their solution sets are studied in polyadic groups. We prove that a polyadic group (G,f)?=?der𝜃,b(G,?) is equational noetherian, if and only if the ordinary group (G,?) is equational noetherian. The Kopytov order for any algebras over a field is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for an algebra to be a linearly ordered algebra are presented. Some results concerning the properties of ideals of linearly ordered algebras are obtained. Some examples of algebras with the Kopytov order are described. Grothendieck proved in EGA IV that if any integral scheme of finite type over a locally noetherian scheme X admits a desingularization, then X is quasi-excellent, and conjectured that the converse is probably true. We prove this conjecture for noetherian schemes of characteristic zero. Namely, starting with the resolution of singularities for algebraic varieties of characteristic zero, we prove the resolution of singularities for noetherian quasi-excellent Q-schemes.  相似文献

We exhibit infinite, solvable, virtually abelian groups with a fixed number of generators, having arbitrarily large balls consisting of torsion elements. We also provide a sequence of 3-generator non-virtually nilpotent polycyclic groups of algebraic entropy tending to zero. Many classical ring-theoretic results state that an ideal that is maximal with respect to satisfying a special property must be prime. We present a “Prime Ideal Principle” that gives a uniform method of proving such facts, generalizing the Prime Ideal Principle for commutative rings due to T. Y. Lam and the author. Old and new “maximal implies prime” results are presented, with results touching on annihilator ideals, polynomial identity rings, the Artin–Rees property, Dedekind-finite rings, principal ideals generated by normal elements, strongly noetherian algebras, and just infinite algebras.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the question of when a Schmidt differential operator ring S over a ring R must have the same uniform rank or reduced rank as R. Also, some information about those prime ideals of R which are invariant under a Schmidt higher derivation is derived. All rings in this paper are associative with unit and all modules are unital right modules.

In [1], Bell and Goodearl proved that for a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt extension T of a ring R, the rank of T and the rank of R agree when R is a right noetherian ring with no Z-torsion which is tame as a right module over itself. In this paper, we show that for a Schmidt differential operator ring S over a right noetherian ring R with no Z-torsion which is tame as a right module over itself the rank of S and the rank of R agree. Also, for any right noetherian R, it is proved that RR and SS have the same reduced rank.  相似文献

We use algebraic geometry to study matrix rigidity and, more generally, the complexity of computing a matrix–vector product, continuing a study initiated in Kumar et al. (2009), Landsberg et al. (preprint). In particular, we (1) exhibit many non-obvious equations testing for (border) rigidity, (2) compute degrees of varieties associated with rigidity, (3) describe algebraic varieties associated with families of matrices that are expected to have super-linear rigidity, and (4) prove results about the ideals and degrees of cones that are of interest in their own right.  相似文献
