Building on work by Bouc and by Shareshian and Wachs, we provide a toolbox of long exact sequences for the reduced simplicial homology of the matching complex Mn, which is the simplicial complex of matchings in the complete graph Kn. Combining these sequences in different ways, we prove several results about the 3-torsion part of the homology of Mn. First, we demonstrate that there is nonvanishing 3-torsion in whenever , where . By results due to Bouc and to Shareshian and Wachs, is a nontrivial elementary 3-group for almost all n and the bottom nonvanishing homology group of Mn for all n≠2. Second, we prove that is a nontrivial 3-group whenever . Third, for each k?0, we show that there is a polynomial fk(r) of degree 3k such that the dimension of , viewed as a vector space over Z3, is at most fk(r) for all r?k+2.  相似文献

It is proved that for certain non-standard versions of inverse systems G of R-modules, we have for n>0.The result is applied to define a reasonably canonical non-standard resolution for an arbitrary inverse system G of R-modules, such that the application of the inverse limit functor yields a complex whose cohomology groups are isomorphic to the derived limits, limn. Furthermore, the non-standard resolution gives also the maps limng, and the connecting homomorphisms to a reasonable degree. We also prove that for miscellaneous types of inverse systems H of modules, the system H is a direct summand of .  相似文献

Let be a link. We study the Heegaard Floer homology of the branched double-cover Σ(L) of S3, branched along L. When L is an alternating link, of its branched double-cover has a particularly simple form, determined entirely by the determinant of the link. For the general case, we derive a spectral sequence whose E2 term is a suitable variant of Khovanov's homology for the link L, converging to the Heegaard Floer homology of Σ(L).  相似文献

In this article, under some conditions on the behaviors of the perturbed function f(x, s) or its primitive F(x,s) =∫so f(x,t)dt near infinity and near zero, a class of asymptotically linear elliptic equations involving natural growth term is studied. By computing the critical group, the existence of three nontrivial solutions is proved.  相似文献

The C1-Weierstrass approximation theorem is proved for any compact subset X of a Hilbert space . The same theorem is also proved for Whitney 1-jets on X when X satisfies the following further condition: There exist finite dimensional linear subspaces such that ?n?1Hn is dense in and πn(X)=XHn for each n?1. Here, is the orthogonal projection. It is also shown that when X is compact convex with and satisfies the above condition, then C1(X) is complete if and only if the C1-Whitney extension theorem holds for X. Finally, for compact subsets of , an extension of the C1-Weierstrass approximation theorem is proved for C1 maps with compact derivatives.  相似文献

Any continuous map T on a compact metric space X induces in a natural way a continuous map on the space K(X) of all non-empty compact subsets of X. Let T be a homeomorphism on the interval or on the circle. It is proved that the topological entropy of the induced set valued map is zero or infinity. Moreover, the topological entropy of is zero, where C(X) denotes the space of all non-empty compact and connected subsets of X. For general continuous maps on compact metric spaces these results are not valid.  相似文献

We show that, if E is a commutative MU-algebra spectrum such that is Landweber exact over , then the category of -comodules is equivalent to a localization of the category of -comodules. This localization depends only on the heights of E at the integer primes p. It follows, for example, that the category of -comodules is equivalent to the category of -comodules. These equivalences give simple proofs and generalizations of the Miller-Ravenel and Morava change of rings theorems. We also deduce structural results about the category of -comodules. We prove that every -comodule has a primitive, we give a classification of invariant prime ideals in , and we give a version of the Landweber filtration theorem.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph on n vertices, and let χG(λ) denote the chromatic polynomial of G. In this paper, we define the cyclic coloring complex, Δ(G), and determine the dimensions of its homology groups for simple graphs. In particular, we show that if G has r connected components, the dimension of (n−3)rd homology group of Δ(G) is equal to (n−(r+1)) plus , where is the rth derivative of χG(λ). We also define a complex ΔC(G), whose r-faces consist of all ordered set partitions [B1,…,Br+2] where none of the Bi contain an edge of G and where 1∈B1. We compute the dimensions of the homology groups of this complex, and as a result, obtain the dimensions of the multilinear parts of the cyclic homology groups of C[x1,…,xn]/{xixj|ij is an edge of G}. We show that when G is a connected graph, the homology of ΔC(G) has nonzero homology only in dimension n−2, and the dimension of this homology group is . In this case, we provide a bijection between a set of homology representatives of ΔC(G) and the acyclic orientations of G with a unique source at v, a vertex of G.  相似文献

Let KS3, and let denote the preimage of K inside its double branched cover, Σ(S3,K). We prove, for each integer n>1, the existence of a spectral sequence whose E2 term is Khovanov's categorification of the reduced n-colored Jones polynomial of (mirror of K) and whose E term is the knot Floer homology of (when n odd) and of (S3,K#Kr) (when n even). A corollary of our result is that Khovanov's categorification of the reduced n-colored Jones polynomial detects the unknot whenever n>1.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group of type I and its dual space. Roughly speaking, qualitative uncertainty principles state that the concentration of a nonzero integrable function on G and of its operator-valued Fourier transform on is limited. Such principles have been established for locally compact abelian groups and for compact groups. In this paper we prove generalizations to the considerably larger class of groups with finite dimensional irreducible representations.  相似文献

For a closed cocompact subgroup Γ of a locally compact group G, given a compact abelian subgroup K of G and a homomorphism satisfying certain conditions, Landstad and Raeburn constructed equivariant noncommutative deformations of the homogeneous space G/Γ, generalizing Rieffel's construction of quantum Heisenberg manifolds. We show that when G is a Lie group and G/Γ is connected, given any norm on the Lie algebra of G, the seminorm on induced by the derivation map of the canonical G-action defines a compact quantum metric. Furthermore, it is shown that this compact quantum metric space depends on ρ continuously, with respect to quantum Gromov-Hausdorff distances.  相似文献

Let be a Lie group acting on an oriented manifold M, and let ω be an equivariantly closed form on M. If both and M are compact, then the integral is given by the fixed point integral localization formula (Theorem 7.11 in Berline et al. Heat Kernels and Dirac Operators, Springer, Berlin, 1992). Unfortunately, this formula fails when the acting Lie group is not compact: there simply may not be enough fixed points present. A proposed remedy is to modify the action of in such a way that all fixed points are accounted for.Let be a real semisimple Lie group, possibly noncompact. One of the most important examples of equivariantly closed forms is the symplectic volume form of a coadjoint orbit Ω. Even if Ω is not compact, the integral exists as a distribution on the Lie algebra . This distribution is called the Fourier transform of the coadjoint orbit. In this article, we will apply the localization results described in [L1,L2] to get a geometric derivation of Harish-Chandra's formula (9) for the Fourier transforms of regular semisimple coadjoint orbits. Then, we will make an explicit computation for the coadjoint orbits of elements of which are dual to regular semisimple elements lying in a maximally split Cartan subalgebra of .  相似文献

We show that every Abelian group satisfying a mild cardinal inequality admits a pseudocompact group topology from which all countable subgroups inherit the maximal totally bounded topology (we say that such a topology satisfies property ).Every pseudocompact Abelian group G with cardinality |G|≤22c satisfies this inequality and therefore admits a pseudocompact group topology with property . Under the Singular Cardinal Hypothesis (SCH) this criterion can be combined with an analysis of the algebraic structure of pseudocompact groups to prove that every pseudocompact Abelian group admits a pseudocompact group topology with property .We also observe that pseudocompact Abelian groups with property contain no infinite compact subsets and are examples of Pontryagin reflexive precompact groups that are not compact.  相似文献

For an abelian topological group G, let denote the dual group of all continuous characters endowed with the compact open topology. Given a closed subset X of an infinite compact abelian group G such that w(X)<w(G), and an open neighborhood U of 0 in T, we show that . (Here, w(G) denotes the weight of G.) A subgroup D of G determines G if the map defined by r(χ)=χ?D for , is an isomorphism between and . We prove that

In this paper, a new construction of vertex algebras from more general vertex operators is given and a notion of quasimodule for vertex algebras is introduced and studied. More specifically, a notion of quasilocal subset(space) of for any vector space W is introduced and studied, generalizing the notion of usual locality in the most possible way, and it is proved that on any maximal quasilocal subspace there exists a natural vertex algebra structure and that any quasilocal subset of generates a vertex algebra. Furthermore, it is proved that W is a quasimodule for each of the vertex algebras generated by quasilocal subsets of . A notion of Γ-vertex algebra is also introduced and studied, where Γ is a subgroup of the multiplicative group C× of nonzero complex numbers. It is proved that any maximal quasilocal subspace of is naturally a Γ-vertex algebra and that any quasilocal subset of generates a Γ-vertex algebra. It is also proved that a Γ-vertex algebra exactly amounts to a vertex algebra equipped with a Γ-module structure which satisfies a certain compatibility condition. Finally, two families of examples are given, involving twisted affine Lie algebras and certain quantum torus Lie algebras.  相似文献

Let X be a compact metrizable abelian group and u={un} be a sequence in its dual group X. Set su(X)={x:(un,x)→1} and . Let G be a subgroup of X. We prove that G=su(X) for some u iff it can be represented as some dually closed subgroup Gu of . In particular, su(X) is polishable. Let u={un} be a T-sequence. First, the existence and structure of uniform attractors in H is proved for nonautonomous 2D Navier-Stokes equations on bounded domain with a new class of distribution forces, termed normal in (see Definition 3.1), which are translation bounded but not translation compact in . Then, the properties of the kernel section are investigated. Last, the fractal dimension is estimated for the kernel sections of the uniform attractors obtained.  相似文献

This paper is a continuation of the paper [T.Y. Lee, Product variational measures and Fubini-Tonelli type theorems for the Henstock-Kurzweil integral, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 298 (2004) 677-692], in which we proved several Fubini-Tonelli type theorems for the Henstock-Kurzweil integral. Let f be Henstock-Kurzweil integrable on a compact interval .
