Let T be a tournament on n vertices whose arcs are colored with k colors. A 3-cycle whose arcs are colored with three distinct colors is called a rainbow triangle. A rainbow triangle dominated by any nonempty set of vertices is called a dominated rainbow triangle. We prove that when \(n\ge 5\), if T does not contain a dominated rainbow triangle and all 4- and 5-cycles of T are near-monochromatic, then T has a monochromatic sink. We also prove that when \(n\ge 4\), if T does not contain a dominated rainbow triangle and all 4-cycles are monochromatic, then T has a monochromatic sink. A semi-cycle is a digraph C that either is a cycle or contains an arc xy such that \(C-xy+yx\) is a cycle. We prove that if \(n\ge 4\) and all 4-semi-cycles of T are near-monochromatic, then T has a monochromatic sink. We also show if \(n\ge 5\) and all 5-semi-cycles of T are near-monochromatic, then T has a monochromatic sink.  相似文献

Let D be an edge-coloured digraph, V(D) will denote the set of vertices of D; a set NV(D) is said to be a kernel by monochromatic paths of D if it satisfies the following two conditions: For every pair of different vertices u,vN there is no monochromatic directed path between them and; for every vertex xV(D)−N there is a vertex yN such that there is an xy-monochromatic directed path.In this paper we consider some operations on edge-coloured digraphs, and some sufficient conditions for the existence or uniqueness of kernels by monochromatic paths of edge-coloured digraphs formed by these operations from another edge-coloured digraphs.  相似文献

We call the digraph D an k-colored digraph if the arcs of D are colored with k colors. A subdigraph H of D is called monochromatic if all of its arcs are colored alike. A set NV(D) is said to be a kernel by monochromatic paths if it satisfies the following two conditions: (i) for every pair of different vertices u,vN, there is no monochromatic directed path between them, and (ii) for every vertex x∈(V(D)?N), there is a vertex yN such that there is an xy-monochromatic directed path. In this paper, we prove that if D is an k-colored digraph that can be partitioned into two vertex-disjoint transitive tournaments such that every directed cycle of length 3,4 or 5 is monochromatic, then D has a kernel by monochromatic paths. This result gives a positive answer (for this family of digraphs) of the following question, which has motivated many results in monochromatic kernel theory: Is there a natural numberlsuch that if a digraphDisk-colored so that every directed cycle of length at mostlis monochromatic, thenDhas a kernel by monochromatic paths?  相似文献

Rank-width is a graph width parameter introduced by Oum and Seymour. It is known that a class of graphs has bounded rank-width if, and only if, it has bounded clique-width, and that the rank-width of G is less than or equal to its branch-width.The n×nsquare grid, denoted by Gn,n, is a graph on the vertex set {1,2,…,n}×{1,2,…,n}, where a vertex (x,y) is connected by an edge to a vertex (x,y) if and only if |xx|+|yy|=1.We prove that the rank-width of Gn,n is equal to n−1, thus solving an open problem of Oum.  相似文献

A digraph D is strong if it contains a directed path from x to y for every choice of vertices x,y in D. We consider the problem (MSSS) of finding the minimum number of arcs in a spanning strong subdigraph of a strong digraph. It is easy to see that every strong digraph D on n vertices contains a spanning strong subdigraph on at most 2n−2 arcs. By reformulating the MSSS problem into the equivalent problem of finding the largest positive integer kn−2 so that D contains a spanning strong subdigraph with at most 2n−2−k arcs, we obtain a problem which we prove is fixed parameter tractable. Namely, we prove that there exists an O(f(k)nc) algorithm for deciding whether a given strong digraph D on n vertices contains a spanning strong subdigraph with at most 2n−2−k arcs.We furthermore prove that if k≥1 and D has no cut vertex then it has a kernel of order at most (2k−1)2. We finally discuss related problems and conjectures.  相似文献

In this paper we study the maximum-minimum value of polynomials over the integer ring Z. In particular, we prove the following: Let F(x,y) be a polynomial over Z. Then, maxxZ(T)minyZ|F(x,y)|=o(T1/2) as T→∞ if and only if there is a positive integer B such that maxxZminyZ|F(x,y)|?B. We then apply these results to exponential diophantine equations and obtain that: Let f(x,y), g(x,y) and G(x,y) be polynomials over Q, G(x,y)∈(Q[x,y]−Q[x])∪Q, and b a positive integer. For every α in Z, there is a y in Z such that f(α,y)+g(α,y)bG(α,y)=0 if and only if for every integer α there exists an h(x)∈Q[x] such that f(x,h(x))+g(x,h(x))bG(x,h(x))≡0, and h(α)∈Z.  相似文献

Let (X,T) be a topological dynamical system and F be a Furstenberg family (a collection of subsets of Z+ with hereditary upward property). A point xX is called an F-transitive one if {nZ+:TnxU}∈F for every non-empty open subset U of X; the system (X,T) is called F-point transitive if there exists some F-transitive point. In this paper, we aim to classify transitive systems by F-point transitivity. Among other things, it is shown that (X,T) is a weakly mixing E-system (resp. weakly mixing M-system, HY-system) if and only if it is {D-sets}-point transitive (resp. {central sets}-point transitive, {weakly thick sets}-point transitive). It is shown that every weakly mixing system is Fip-point transitive, while we construct an Fip-point transitive system which is not weakly mixing. As applications, we show that every transitive system with dense small periodic sets is disjoint from every totally minimal system and a system is Δ?(Fwt)-transitive if and only if it is weakly disjoint from every P-system.  相似文献

We call the digraph D an orientation of a graph G if D is obtained from G by the orientation of each edge of G in exactly one of the two possible directions. The digraph D is an m-coloured digraph if the arcs of D are coloured with m-colours.Let D be an m-coloured digraph. A directed path (or a directed cycle) is called monochromatic if all of its arcs are coloured alike.A set NV(D) is said to be a kernel by monochromatic paths if it satisfies the two following conditions: (i) for every pair of different vertices u,vN there is no monochromatic directed path between them and (ii) for every vertex xV(D)-N there is a vertex yN such that there is an xy-monochromatic directed path.In this paper we obtain sufficient conditions for an m-coloured orientation of a graph obtained from Kn by deletion of the arcs of K1,r(0?r?n-1) to have a kernel by monochromatic.  相似文献

The concept of degree distance of a connected graph G is a variation of the well-known Wiener index, in which the degrees of vertices are also involved. It is defined by D(G)=∑xV(G)d(x)∑yV(G)d(x,y), where d(x) and d(x,y) are the degree of x and the distance between x and y, respectively. In this paper it is proved that connected graphs of order n≥4 having the smallest degree distances are K1,n−1,BS(n−3,1) and K1,n−1+e (in this order), where BS(n−3,1) denotes the bistar consisting of vertex disjoint stars K1,n−3 and K1,1 with central vertices joined by an edge.  相似文献

We call the tournament T an m-coloured tournament if the arcs of T are coloured with m-colours. If v is a vertex of an m-coloured tournament T, we denote by ξ(v) the set of colours assigned to the arcs with v as an endpoint. In this paper is proved that if T is an m-coloured tournament with |ξ(v)|≤2 for each vertex v of T, and T satisfies at least one of the two following properties (1) m≠3 or (2) m=3 and T contains no C3 (the directed cycle of length 3 whose arcs are coloured with three distinct colours). Then there is a vertex v of T such that for every other vertex x of T, there is a monochromatic directed path from x to v. Received: April, 2003  相似文献

If F is a set-valued mapping from Rn into Rm with closed graph, then yRm is a critical value of F if for some x with yF(x), F is not metrically regular at (x,y). We prove that the set of critical values of a set-valued mapping whose graph is a definable (tame) set in an o-minimal structure containing additions and multiplications is a set of dimension not greater than m−1 (respectively a σ-porous set). As a corollary of this result we get that the collection of asymptotically critical values of a set-valued mapping with a semialgebraic graph has dimension not greater than m−1. We also give an independent proof of the fact that a definable continuous real-valued function is constant on components of the set of its subdifferentiably critical points.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph on n vertices. In this paper, we prove that if G satisfies the condition that d(x)+d(y)≥n for each xyE(G), then G has no nowhere-zero 3-flow if and only if G is either one of the five graphs on at most 6 vertices or one of a very special class of graphs on at least 6 vertices.  相似文献

ON 3-CHOOSABILITY OF PLANE GRAPHS WITHOUT 6-,7- AND 9-CYCLES   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The choice number of a graph G,denoted by X1(G),is the minimum number k such that if a list of k colors is given to each vertex of G,there is a vertex coloring of G where each vertex receives a color from its own list no matter what the lists are. In this paper,it is showed that X1 (G)≤3 for each plane graph of girth not less than 4 which contains no 6-, 7- and 9-cycles.  相似文献

Given a graph G=(V,E), two fixed vertices s,tV and a set F of pairs of vertices (called forbidden pairs), the problem of a path avoiding forbidden pairs is to find a path from s to t that contains at most one vertex from each pair in F. The problem is known to be NP-complete in general and a few restricted versions of the problem are known to be in P. We study the complexity of the problem for directed acyclic graphs with respect to the structure of the forbidden pairs. We write x?y if and only if there exists a path from x to y and we assume, without loss of generality, that for every forbidden pair (x,y)∈F we have x?y. The forbidden pairs have a halving structure if no two pairs (u,v),(x,y)∈F satisfy v?x or v=x and they have a hierarchical structure if no two pairs (u,v),(x,y)∈F satisfy u?x?v?y. We show that the PAFP problem is NP-hard even if the forbidden pairs have the halving structure and we provide a surprisingly simple and efficient algorithm for the PAFP problem with the hierarchical structure.  相似文献

Let G be a directed graph whose edges are coloured with two colours. Call a set S of vertices of Gindependent if no two vertices of S are connected by a monochromatic directed path. We prove that if G contains no monochromatic infinite outward path, then there is an independent set S of vertices of G such that, for every vertex x not in S, there is a monochromatic directed path from x to a vertex of S. In the event that G is infinite, the proof uses Zorn's lemma. The last part of the paper is concerned with the case when G is a tournament.  相似文献

A list-assignment L to the vertices of G is an assignment of a set L(v) of colors to vertex v for every vV(G). An (L,d)-coloring is a mapping ? that assigns a color ?(v)∈L(v) to each vertex vV(G) such that at most d neighbors of v receive color ?(v). A graph is called (k,d)-choosable, if G admits an (L,d)-coloring for every list assignment L with |L(v)|≥k for all vV(G). In this note, it is proved that every plane graph, which contains no 4-cycles and l-cycles for some l∈{8,9}, is (3,1)-choosable.  相似文献

Let G be a planar graph without 5-cycles or without 6-cycles. In this paper, we prove that if G is connected and δ(G)≥2, then there exists an edge xyE(G) such that d(x)+d(y)≤9, or there is a 2-alternating cycle. By using the above result, we obtain that (1) its linear 2-arboricity , (2) its list total chromatic number is Δ(G)+1 if Δ(G)≥8, and (3) its list edge chromatic number is Δ(G) if Δ(G)≥8.  相似文献

Consider a graph G on n vertices satisfying the following Ore‐type condition: for any two nonadjacent vertices x and y of G, we have . We conjecture that if we color the edges of G with two colors then the vertex set of G can be partitioned to two vertex disjoint monochromatic cycles of distinct colors. In this article, we prove an asymptotic version of this conjecture.  相似文献

A proper vertex coloring of a graph G=(V,E) is acyclic if G contains no bicolored cycle. A graph G is acyclically L-list colorable if for a given list assignment L={L(v):vV}, there exists a proper acyclic coloring π of G such that π(v)∈L(v) for all vV. If G is acyclically L-list colorable for any list assignment with |L(v)|≥k for all vV, then G is acyclically k-choosable. In this paper we prove that every planar graph without 4-cycles and without two 3-cycles at distance less than 3 is acyclically 5-choosable. This improves a result in [M. Montassier, P. Ochem, A. Raspaud, On the acyclic choosability of graphs, J. Graph Theory 51 (2006) 281-300], which says that planar graphs of girth at least 5 are acyclically 5-choosable.  相似文献
