UNIQUENESS OF DIFFERENCE POLYNOMIALS OF MEROMORPHIC FUNCTIONS

In this article, we investigate the uniqueness problems of difference polynomials of meromorphic functions and obtain some results which can be viewed as discrete analogues of the results given by Shibazaki. Some examples are given to show the results in this article are best possible.

On stability analysis of semi-linear fractional differential systems

In this article, new trends of analysis on existence, uniqueness, and stability of solution for semi-linear fractional systems are considered. The results are based on a generalization of Bihari's inequality. Some examples are given to illustrate the results.     

Mountain pass solutions for a system of differential equations with Dirichlet boundary condition

In this article, the Dirichlet problem for a class of quasilinear differential equation systems is studied. Existence results are given by combining the dual least action principle and mountain pass theorem.     

The Hilbert-Schmidt property of feedback operators

In this article we prove new sufficient conditions under which the feedback operator associated with the Linear Quadratic Regulator control design for distributed parameter systems is nuclear or Hilbert-Schmidt. Examples illustrating the main results are also given.     

Existence and blow-up of solutions for a porous medium equation with nonlocal boundary condition

In this article, a porous medium equation with nonlocal boundary condition and a localized source is studied. The results of the existence of global solutions or blow-up of solutions are given. The blow-up rate estimates are also obtained under some conditions.

Dynamical behavior of a generalized Lorenz system model and its simulation

In this article, the dynamical behavior of a generalized Lorenz system is derived based on stability theory of dynamical systems. The meaningful contribution of this article is that the domain of attraction of the new chaotic system is studied in detailed. Qualitative analysis of a new Lorenz‐type chaotic system and its simulation

In this paper, the ultimate bound for a new chaotic system is derived based on stability theory of dynamical systems. The meaningful contribution of this article is that the results presented in this paper contain the existing results as special cases. The Cauchy problem of Lorentzian minimal surfaces in globally hyperbolic manifolds

In this note a proof is given for global existence and uniqueness of minimal Lorentzian surface maps from a cylinder into a large class of globally hyperbolic Lorentzian manifolds for given initial values up to the first derivatives. The results of this article are part of my PhD thesis written at the Max-Planck institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig under the supervision of Prof. Jürgen Jost to whom I want to express my gratitude.     

Some results on symmetric duality of multiobjective programmes with generalized (F,ρ) invexity

In this present article we have given some multiobjective programming problems with their symmetric duals and have derived weak and strong duality results with respect to such programs. Moreover, we have also used most general type of invexity assumptions involved with the functions which are related to the programming problems. It is to be pointed out that the objective functions in such programs contain terms like support functions which in turn are able to give results on particular classes of programs involving quadratic terms. Our results in particular give as special cases some earlier results on symmetric duals given in the current literature.     

Perturbation methods in semilinear elliptic problems involving critical hardy-sobolev exponent

In this article, we deal with a class of semilinear elliptic equations which are perturbations of the problems with the critical Hardy-Sobolev exponent. Some existence results are given via an abstract perturbation method in critical point theory.

Nonoscillatory solutions of higher order differential and delay differential equations with forcing term

In this article, we study the existence of nonoscillatory solutions of higher order differential and delay differential equations with forcing term. Some new sufficient conditions are given. We use the Schauder’s fixed point theorem to prove our results.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">e</Emphasis>-Invertible Matrices Over Commutative Semirings

In this article, the e-invertible matrices over commutative semirings are studied. Some properties and equivalent characterizations of the e-invertible matrices are given. Also, the interrelationships between invertible matrices and e-invertible matrices over commutative semirings are discussed. The main results obtained in this article generalize and enrich the corresponding results about invertible matrices over commutative semirings.     

Approximate Predetermined Convergence Properties of the Gibbs Sampler

This article aims to provide a method for approximately predetermining convergence properties of the Gibbs sampler. This is to be done by first finding an approximate rate of convergence for a normal approximation of the target distribution. The rates of convergence for different implementation strategies of the Gibbs sampler are compared to find the best one. In general, the limiting convergence properties of the Gibbs sampler on a sequence of target distributions (approaching a limit) are not the same as the convergence properties of the Gibbs sampler on the limiting target distribution. Theoretical results are given in this article to justify that under conditions, the convergence properties of the Gibbs sampler can be approximated as well. A number of practical examples are given for illustration.

On the convergence of the spline collocation with discontinuous data

In this article we study the convergence of the collocation method in the case where the smoothest splines are used as trial functions. The given data is allowed to be piecewise continuous. Our model problem is stated by means of an explicit Fourier representation in the space of periodic functions. Thus the results are applicable e.g. to differential operators and to classical integral operators of the convolutional type. Error estimates are given for a class of Sobolev norms. An application to the single layer potential is discussed.
