Existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness results are given for a class of singular diffusion problems with variable diffusion rates. Continuity arguments are used on related initial value problems to produce the existence results. Uniqueness criteria are established for different sets of hypotheses and non-uniqueness results are discussed when these hypotheses fail.  相似文献

In this paper we show some structural results of a kanban system by using results about the underlying GSMP. The main results from this connection are: dominance of allocations, optimal partition, upper and lower bounds on throughput, consistency of the IPA derivative, convexity of throughput as a function of service time parameters and concavity of throughput with respect to number of kanbans. Although the dominance and the partition results were obtained previously by sample path arguments, the proofs here are less cumbersome and generalize the earlier results. The second-order properties for kanban lines are new. These results form a basis for results in multi-product lines where proofs by sample paths require extensive notation.  相似文献

The steady solution of a solitary wave propagating in the presence of a linear shear background current is investigated by the Green–Naghdi (GN) equations. The steady solution is obtained by use of the Newton–Raphson method. Three aspects are investigated; they are the wave speed, wave profile and velocity field. The converged GN results are compared with results from the literature. It is found that for the opposing-current case of the solitary wave with a small amplitude, the results of the GN equations match results from the literature well, while for the solitary wave with a large amplitude, results from the literature are seen to be not as accurate. In the following-current case, though the amplitude of the solitary wave is small, the GN results are shown to be accurate. The velocity along the water column at the wave crest and the velocity field for different cases are calculated by the GN equations. The results of the GN equations show obvious differences when compared with the results obtained by superposing the no-current results and linear shear current linearly. We find that for the same current strength, the vortex is stronger for the steep solitary-wave case than that for the small solitary-wave case.  相似文献

In this paper the influence of the gravity field, relaxation times and initial stress on propagation of Rayleigh waves in an orthotropic magneto-thermoelastic solid medium has been investigated. The solution of the more general equations are obtained for thermoelastic coupling by Helmoltz’s theorem. The frequency equation which determines Rayleigh wave velocity have been obtained. Many special cases are investigated from the present problem. Numerical results analyzing the frequency equation are obtained and presented graphically. Relevant results of previous investigations are deduced as special cases from these results. The results indicate that the effect of initial stress, magnetic field and gravity field are very pronounced.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish some su?cient conditions for the complete controllability of linear and semilinear impulsive systems. For the semilinear systems, we assume that nonlinearities are Lipschitzian type. We invoke the tools of nonlinear functional analysis and fixed point theorems to establish the results. The results are also compared with the existing results in the literature in order to show the effectiveness of the results obtained. In this paper, existence results are derived for the unique, smallest, greatest, minimal and maximal solutions of nonlinear distributional Cauchy problems. Dependence of solutions on the data is also studied. The obtained results are applied to impulsive differential equations. Main tools are fixed point results in function spaces and recently introduced concepts of regulated and continuous primitive integrals of distributions.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of impulsive damped vibration problems are considered. Existence results are obtained by using variational method and critical point theorem. The obtained results are also valid and new even if the impulsive damped vibration problem is reduced to impulsive Hamiltonian system and Hamiltonian system. General existence theorems for discrete optimal control problems are derived. It is assumed that dynamical equations of the system, as well as all control and state constraints, depend on the finite history of the system. All results are formulated in a general way in regular topological spaces. To prove such theorems, some basic concepts and results of the theory of the so-called multivalued mappings are necessary which are briefly summarized. The imposed assumptions are general enough to be of practical interest. The reported results thus include and generalize all known cases which are met in the discrete optimal control theory. Practical importance of the obtained results is illustrated on the so-called multiproduct inventory problem which is treated in the detail. Using the derived results we are able to show that under usual assumptions the inventory problem has an optimal solution.  相似文献

In this work, some new fixed point results for generalized Lipschitz mappings on generalized $c$-distance in cone $b$-metric spaces over Banach algebras are obtained, not acquiring the condition that the underlying cone should be normal or the mappings should be continuous. Furthermore, the existence and the uniqueness of the fixed point are proven for such mappings. These results greatly improve and generalize several well-known comparable results in the literature. Moreover, some examples and an application are given to support our new results.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of practical finite-time stability (PFTS) for switched nonlinear time-varying (SNTV) systems. Starting with nonlinear time-varying (NTV) systems, a new sufficient condition is proposed to verify the PFTS of systems by using an improved Lyapunov function. Then, the results obtained are extended to study the PFTS of SNTV systems. Two stability conditions are proposed for SNTV systems under arbitrary switching, moreover, the time and region of convergence are also given. Furthermore, an initial state-dependent dwell time method is introduced to study the PFTS of SNTV systems. Three stability conditions are proposed by using the methods of initial state-dependent minimum dwell time (ISD-MDT) and initial state-dependent average dwell time (ISD-ADT), respectively. The comparisons between the obtained results and the existing results are also given, and the obtained results are extended to impulsive switched nonlinear time-varying (ISNTV) systems. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

Singular solutions of a linearized problem of determining fuel-optimal trajectories of a spacecraft with bounded thrust near a satellite in circular orbit are investigated in detail. Mathematical results are presented which classify and discuss degeneracy of the singular solutions and which show that strictly singular and nonsingular solutions are mutually exclusive for fixed-end conditions. These results are consistent with those found using other approaches for other linear models, but they are not characteristic of the type of results obtained without linearization.  相似文献

Continuous-time dynamical systems whose motions are continuous with respect to time (called continuous dynamical systems), may be viewed as special cases of continuous-time dynamical systems whose motions are not necessarily continuous with respect to time (called discontinuous dynamical systems, or DDS). We show that the classical Lyapunov stability results for continuous dynamical systems are embedded in the authors’ stability results for DDS (given in [H. Ye, A.N. Michel, L. Hou, Stability theory for hybrid dynamical systems, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control 43 (4) (1998) 461–474]), in the following sense: if the hypotheses for a given Lyapunov stability result for continuous dynamical systems are satisfied, then the hypotheses of the corresponding stability result for DDS are also satisfied. This shows that the stability results for DDS in [H. Ye, A.N. Michel, L. Hou, Stability theory for hybrid dynamical systems, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control 43 (4) (1998) 461–474] are much more general than was previously known, and that the quality of the DDS results therein is consistent with that of the classical Lyapunov stability results for continuous dynamical systems.By embedding discrete-time dynamical systems into a class of DDS with equivalent stability properties, we also show that when the hypotheses of the classical Lyapunov stability results for discrete-time dynamical systems are satisfied, then the hypotheses of the corresponding DDS stability results are also satisfied. This shows that the results for DDS in [H. Ye, A.N. Michel, L. Hou Stability theory for hybrid dynamical systems, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control 43 (4) (1998) 461–474] are much more general than previously known, having connections even with discrete-time dynamical systems!Finally, we demonstrate by the means of a specific example that the stability results for DDS are less conservative than corresponding classical Lyapunov stability results for continuous dynamical systems.  相似文献

We obtain nonsymmetric upper and lower bounds on the rate of convergence of general monotone approximation/numerical schemes for parabolic Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations by introducing a new notion of consistency. Our results are robust and general - they improve and extend earlier results by Krylov, Barles, and Jakobsen. We apply our general results to various schemes including Crank-Nicholson type finite difference schemes, splitting methods, and the classical approximation by piecewise constant controls. In the first two cases our results are new, and in the last two cases the results are obtained by a new method which we develop here.
