Testing for additivity with B-splines   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Regression splines are often used for fitting nonparametric functions, and they work especially well for additivity models. In this paper, we consider two simple tests of additivity: an adaptation of Tukey's one degree of freedom test and a nonparametric version of Rao's score test. While the Tukey-type test can detect most forms of the local non-additivity at the parametric rate of O(n-1/2), the score test is consistent for all alternative at a nonparametric rate. The asymptotic distribution of these test statistics is derived under both the null and local alternative hypotheses. A simulation study is conducted to compare their finite-sample performances with some existing kernel-based tests. The score test is found to have a good overall performance.  相似文献

We use distance covariance to introduce novel consistent tests of heteroscedasticity for nonlinear regression models in multidimensional spaces. The proposed tests require no user-defined regularization, which are simple to implement based on only pairwise distances between points in the sample and are applicable even if we have non-normal errors and many covariates in the regression model. We establish the asymptotic distributions of the proposed test statistics under the null and alternative hypotheses and a sequence of local alternatives converging to the null at the fastest possible parametric rate. In particular, we focus on whether and how the estimation of the finite-dimensional unknown parameter vector in regression functions will affect the distribution theory. It turns out that the asymptotic null distributions of the suggested test statistics depend on the data generating process, and then a bootstrap scheme and its validity are considered. Simulation studies demonstrate the versatility of our tests in comparison with the score test, the Cramér-von Mises test, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Zheng-type test. We also use the ultrasonic reference block data set from National Institute of Standards and Technology of USA to illustrate the practicability of our proposals.  相似文献

In this article, the unit root test for AR(p) model with GARCH errors is considered. The Dickey-Fuller test statistics are rewritten in the form of self-normalized sums, and the asymptotic distribution of the test statistics is derived under the weak conditions.  相似文献

This paper addresses the issue of testing sphericity and identity of high-dimensional population covariance matrix when the data dimension exceeds the sample size. The central limit theorem of the first four moments of eigenvalues of sample covariance matrix is derived using random matrix theory for generally distributed populations.Further, some desirable asymptotic properties of the proposed test statistics are provided under the null hypothesis as data dimension and sample size both tend to infinity.Simulations show that the proposed tests have a greater power than existing methods for the spiked covariance model.  相似文献

In this paper, the asymptotic properties of the quadratic forms and the T statistic of the skew elliptical variables are studied. Consistent estimators of some parameters are obtained. The robustness of the significance level of the one-sided t test within the family of the skew normal family is investigated.  相似文献

The loglinear model under product-multinomial sampling with constraints is considered. The asymptotic expansion and normality of the restricted minimum φ-divergence estimator (RMφDE) which is a generalization of the maximum likelihood estimator is presented. Then various statistics based on φ-divergence and RMφDE are used to test various hypothesis test problems under the model considered. These statistics contain the classical loglikelihood ratio test statistics and Pearson chi-squared test statistics. In the last section, a simulation study is implemented.  相似文献

In this paper, some test statistics Of Kolmogorov type and Cramervon Mises type based on projection pursuit technique are proposed for testing the sphericity problem of a high-dimensional distribution. The limiting distributions of the test statistics are derived under the null hypothesis. The asymptotic properties of Bootstrap approximation are investigated and the tail behaviors of the statistics are studied.  相似文献

Chaos theory has taught us that a system which has both nonlinearity and random input will most likely produce irregular data. If random errors are irregular data, then random error process will raise nonlinearity (Kantz and Schreiber (1997)). Tsai (1986) introduced a composite test for autocorrelation and heteroscedasticity in linear models with AR(1) errors. Liu (2003) introduced a composite test for correlation and heteroscedasticity in nonlinear models with DBL(p, 0, 1) errors. Therefore, the important problems in regression model axe detections of bilinearity, correlation and heteroscedasticity. In this article, the authors discuss more general case of nonlinear models with DBL(p, q, 1) random errors by score test. Several statistics for the test of bilinearity, correlation, and heteroscedasticity are obtained, and expressed in simple matrix formulas. The results of regression models with linear errors are extended to those with bilinear errors. The simulation study is carried out to investigate the powers of the test statistics. All results of this article extend and develop results of Tsai (1986), Wei, et al (1995), and Liu, et al (2003).  相似文献

In this article a new approach for checking the adequacy of GARCH-type models in time series was proposed. The resulted tests involve weight functions, which provide them with the flexibility in choosing scores to enhance power performance. The choice of weight functions and the power properties of the tests are studied. For a large number of alternatives, asymptotically distribution-free maximin test is constructed. The tests are asymptotically chi-squared under the null hypothesis and easy to implement. Simulation results indicate that the tests perform well.  相似文献

When a regression model is applied as an approximation of underlying model of data, the model checking is important and relevant. In this paper, we investigate the lack-of-fit test for a polynomial error-in-variables model. As the ordinary residuals are biased when there exist measurement errors in covariables,we correct them and then construct a residual-based test of score type. The constructed test is asymptotically chi-squared under null hypotheses. Simulation study shows that the test can maintain the significance level well. The choice of weight functions involved in the test statistic and the related power study are also investigated. The application to two examples is illustrated. The approach can be readily extended to handle more general models.  相似文献

Multivariate tree-indexed Markov processes are discussed with applications. A Galton-Watson super-critical branching process is used to model the random tree-indexed process. Martingale estimating functions are used as a basic framework to discuss asymptotic properties and optimality of estimators and tests. The limit distributions of the estimators turn out to be mixtures of normals rather than normal. Also, the non-null limit distributions of standard test statistics such as Wald, Rao’s score, and likelihood ratio statistics are shown to have mixtures of non-central chi-square distributions. The models discussed in this paper belong to the local asymptotic mixed normal family. Consequently, non-standard limit results are obtained.  相似文献

Multivariate autoregressive models with exogenous variables (VARX) are often used in econometric applications. Many properties of the basic statistics for this class of models rely on the assumption of independent errors. Using results of Hong (Econometrica 64 (1996) 837), we propose a new test statistic for checking the hypothesis of non-correlation or independence in the Gaussian case. The test statistic is obtained by comparing the spectral density of the errors under the null hypothesis of independence with a kernel-based spectral density estimator. The asymptotic distribution of the statistic is derived under the null hypothesis. This test generalizes the portmanteau test of Hosking (J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 75 (1980) 602). The consistency of the test is established for a general class of static regression models with autocorrelated errors. Its asymptotic slope is derived and the asymptotic relative efficiency within the class of possible kernels is also investigated. Finally, the level and power of the resulting tests are also studied by simulation.  相似文献

Portmanteau test statistics are useful for checking the adequacy of many time series models. Here we generalized the omnibus procedure proposed by Duchesne and Roy (2004,Journal of Multivariate Analysis,89, 148–180) for multivariate stationary autoregressive models with exogenous variables (VARX) to the case of cointegrated (or partially nonstationary) VARX models. We show that for cointegrated VARX time series, the test statistic obtained by comparing the spectral density of the errors under the null hypothesis of non-correlation with a kernel-based spectral density estimator, is asymptotically standard normal. The parameters of the model can be estimated by conditional maximum likelihood or by asymptotically equivalent estimation procedures. The procedure relies on a truncation point or a smoothing parameter. We state conditions under which the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is unaffected by a data-dependent method. The finite sample properties of the test statistics are studied via a small simulation study.  相似文献

The paper concentrates on consistent estimation and testing in functional polynomial measurement errors models with known heterogeneous variances. We rest on the corrected score methodology which allows the derivation of consistent and asymptotically normal estimators for line parameters and also consistent estimators for the asymptotic covariance matrix. Hence, Wald and score type statistics can be proposed for testing the hypothesis of a reduced linear relationship, for example, with asymptotic chi-square distribution which guarantees correct asymptotic significance levels. Results of small scale simulation studies are reported to illustrate the agreement between theoretical and empirical distributions of the test statistics studied. An application to a real data set is also presented.  相似文献

In this paper we study the problem of testing the null hypothesis that errors from k independent parametrically specified generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) models have the same distribution versus a general alternative. First we establish the asymptotic validity of a class of linear test statistics derived from the k residual-based empirical distribution functions. A distinctive feature is that the asymptotic distribution of the test statistics involves terms depending on the distributions of errors and the parameters of the models, and weight functions providing the flexibility to choose scores for investigating power performance. A Monte Carlo study assesses the asymptotic performance in terms of empirical size and power of the three-sample test based on the Wilcoxon and Van der Waerden score generating functions in finite samples. The results demonstrate that the two proposed tests have overall reasonable size and their power is particularly high when the assumption of Gaussian errors is violated. As an illustrative example, the tests are applied to daily individual stock returns of the New York Stock Exchange data.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the null distribution of test statistic T for testing a linear hypothesis in a linear model without assuming normal errors. The test statistic includes typical ANOVA test statistics. It is known that the null distribution of T converges to χ2 when the sample size n is large under an adequate condition of the design matrix. We extend this result by obtaining an asymptotic expansion under general condition. Next, asymptotic expansions of one- and two-way test statistics are obtained by using this general one. Numerical accuracies are studied for some approximations of percent points and actual test sizes of T for two-way ANOVA test case based on the limiting distribution and an asymptotic expansion.  相似文献

A class of affine-invariant test statistics, including a sign test and a related family of signed-rank tests, is proposed for randomized complete block designs with one observation per treatment. This class is obtained by using the transformation-retransformation approach of Chakraborty, Chaudhuri and Oja along with a directional transformation due to Tyler. Under the minimal assumption of directional symmetry of the underlying distribution, the null asymptotic distribution of the sign test statistic is shown to be chi-square with p-1 degrees of freedom. The same null distribution is also proved for the family of signed-rank statistics under the assumption of symmetry of the underlying distribution. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiencies of the tests, relative to Hotelling-Hsu's T2 are established. Several score functions are discussed including a simple linear score function and the optimal normal score function. The test based on the linear score function is compared to the other members of this family and other statistics in the literature through efficiency calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. This statistic has an excellent performance over a wide range of distributions and for small as well as large dimensions.  相似文献

We develop optimal rank-based procedures for testing affine-invariant linear hypotheses on the parameters of a multivariate general linear model with elliptical VARMA errors. We propose a class of optimal procedures that are based either on residual (pseudo-)Mahalanobis signs and ranks, or on absolute interdirections and lift-interdirection ranks, i.e., on hyperplane-based signs and ranks. The Mahalanobis versions of these procedures are strictly affine-invariant, while the hyperplane-based ones are asymptotically affine-invariant. Both versions generalize the univariate signed rank procedures proposed by Hallin and Puri (J. Multivar. Anal. 50 (1994) 175), and are locally asymptotically most stringent under correctly specified radial densities. Their AREs with respect to Gaussian procedures are shown to be convex linear combinations of the AREs obtained in Hallin and Paindaveine (Ann. Statist. 30 (2002) 1103; Bernoulli 8 (2002) 787) for the pure location and purely serial models, respectively. The resulting test statistics are provided under closed form for several important particular cases, including multivariate Durbin-Watson tests, VARMA order identification tests, etc. The key technical result is a multivariate asymptotic linearity result proved in Hallin and Paindaveine (Asymptotic linearity of serial and nonserial multivariate signed rank statistics, submitted).
