We present a certain analog for variational inequalities of the classical result on bifurcation from simple eigenvalues of Crandall and Rabinowitz. In other words, we describe the existence and local uniqueness of smooth families of nontrivial solutions to variational inequalities, bifurcating from a trivial solution family at certain points which could be called simple eigenvalues of the homogenized variational inequality. If the bifurcation parameter is one-dimensional, the main difference between the case of equations and the case of variational inequalities (when the cone is not a linear subspace) is the following: For equations two smooth half-branches bifurcate, for inequalities only one. The proofs are based on scaling techniques and on the implicit function theorem. The abstract results are applied to a fourth order ODE with pointwise unilateral conditions (an obstacle problem for a beam with the compression force as the bifurcation parameter).  相似文献

In a recent paper, Domokos and Kolumbán introduced variational inequalities with operator solutions to provide a unified approach to several kinds of variational inequalities and vector variational inequalities in Banach spaces. Inspired by their work, in a former paper, we extended the scheme of vector variational inequalities with operator solutions from the single-valued case to the multivalued one and provided some applications to generalized vector variational inequalities and generalized quasivector variational inequalities in normed spaces. As a continuation of the former work, in this paper, we further extend those results to more general and tangible cases in the context of Hausdorff topological vector spaces or locally convex spaces. In this paper, we introduce weighted variational inequalities over product of sets and system of weighted variational inequalities. It is noted that the weighted variational inequality problem over product of sets and the problem of system of weighted variational inequalities are equivalent. We give a relationship between system of weighted variational inequalities and systems of vector variational inequalities. We define several kinds of weighted monotonicities and establish several existence results for the solution of the above-mentioned problems under these weighted monotonicities. We introduce also the weighted generalized variational inequalities over product of sets, that is, weighted variational inequalities for multivalued maps and systems of weighted generalized variational inequalities. Extensions of weighted monotonicities for multivalued maps are also considered. The existence of a solution of weighted generalized variational inequalities over product of sets is also studied. The existence results for a solution of weighted generalized variational inequality problem give also the existence of solutions of systems of generalized vector variational inequalities. We investigate eigenvalues and eigenvectors of certain linear variational eigenvalue inequalities where the constraints are defined by a convex cone as in [4], [7], [8], [10]-[12], [17]. The eigenvalues of those eigenvalue problems are of interest in connection with bifurcation from the trivial solution of nonlinear variational inequalities. A rather far reaching theory is presented for the case that the cone is given by a finite number of linear inequalities, where an eigensolution corresponds to a (+)-Kuhn-Tucker point of the Rayleigh quotient. Application to an unlaterally supported beam are discussed and numerical results are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of variational inequalities involving three operators, which is called the extended general variational inequality. Using the projection technique, we show that the extended general variational inequalities are equivalent to the fixed point and the extended general Wiener-Hopf equations. This equivalent formulation is used to suggest and analyze a number of projection iterative methods for solving the extended general variational inequalities. We also consider the convergence of these new methods under some suitable conditions. Since the extended general variational inequalities include general variational inequalities and related optimization problems as special cases, results proved in this paper continue to hold for these problems.  相似文献

Motivated by Ruf–Sani?s recent work, we prove an Adams type inequality and a singular Adams type inequality in the whole four-dimensional Euclidean space. As applications of those inequalities, a class of elliptic partial differential equations are considered. Existence of nontrivial weak solutions and multiplicity results are obtained via the mountain-pass theorem and the Ekeland?s variational principle. This is a continuation of our previous work about singular Trudinger–Moser type inequality.  相似文献

Abstract In author’s one previous paper, the same topic was studied for one dimensional diffusions. As a continuation, this paper studies the discrete case, that is the birth-death processes. The explicit criteria for the inequalities, the variational formulas and explicit bounds of the corresponding constants in the inequalities are presented. As typical applications, the Nash inequalities and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities are examined. Research supported in part by NSFC (No. 10121101), 973 Project and RFDP  相似文献

It is well known that the general variational inequalities are equivalent to the fixed point problems and the Wiener-Hopf equations. In this paper, we use these alternative equivalent formulations to suggest and analyze some new self-adaptive iterative methods for solving the general variational inequalities. Our results can be viewed as a significant extension of the previously known results for variational inequalities. An example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce and consider a new class of mixed variational inequalities, which is called the general mixed variational inequality. Using the resolvent operator technique, we establish the equivalence between the general mixed variational inequalities and the fixed-point problems as well as resolvent equations. We use this alternative equivalent formulation to suggest and analyze some iterative methods for solving the general mixed variational inequalities. We study the convergence criteria of the suggested iterative methods under suitable conditions. Using the resolvent operator technique, we also consider the resolvent dynamical systems associated with the general mixed variational inequalities. We show that the trajectory of the dynamical system converges globally exponentially to the unique solution of the general mixed variational inequalities. Our methods of proofs are very simple as compared with others’ techniques. Results proved in this paper may be viewed as a refinement and important generalizations of the previous known results.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of variational inequalities, which is called the generalized mixed variational inequality. Using essentially the resolvent operator concept, we establish the equivalence between the generalized mixed variational inequalities and the system of resolvent equations. This equivalence is used to suggest a number of new iterative algorithms for solving the variational inequalities. Several special cases are discussed which can be obtained from the main results of this paper.  相似文献

This paper introduces the concept of exceptional family for nonlinear variational inequality problems. Among other things, we show that the nonexistence of an exceptional family is a sufficient condition for the existence of a solution to variational inequalities. This sufficient condition is weaker than many known solution conditions and it is also necessary for pseudomonotone variational inequalities. From the results in this paper, we believe that the concept of exceptional families of variational inequalities provides a new powerful tool for the study of the existence theory for variational inequalities.  相似文献

Merit functions for general variational inequalities   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we consider some classes of merit functions for general variational inequalities. Using these functions, we obtain error bounds for the solution of general variational inequalities under some mild conditions. Since the general variational inequalities include variational inequalities, quasivariational inequalities and complementarity problems as special cases, results proved in this paper hold for these problems. In this respect, results obtained in this paper represent a refinement of previously known results for classical variational inequalities.  相似文献

Summary. An abstract error estimate for the approximation of semicoercive variational inequalities is obtained provided a certain condition holds for the exact solution. This condition turns out to be necessary as is demonstrated analytically and numerically. The results are applied to the finite element approximation of Poisson's equation with Signorini boundary conditions and to the obstacle problem for the beam with no fixed boundary conditions. For second order variational inequalities the condition is always satisfied, whereas for the beam problem the condition holds if the center of forces belongs to the interior of the convex hull of the contact set. Applying the error estimate yields optimal order of convergence in terms of the mesh size . The numerical convergence rates observed are in good agreement with the predicted ones. In this paper, we consider a class of variational inequalities which is called the general mixed variational inequality. It is known that the general mixed variational inequalities are equivalent to the fixed point problems. This equivalent formulation is used to suggest and analyze some three-step iterative schemes for finding the common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mappings and the set of solutions of the mixed variational inequalities. We also study the convergence criteria of three-step iterative method under some mild conditions. Our results include the previous results as special cases and may be considered as an improvement and refinement of the previously known results.  相似文献

On Vector Variational Inequalities in Reflexive Banach Spaces   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
In this paper, we study the solvability for a class of vector variational inequalities in reflexive Banach spaces. By using Brouwer fixed point theorem, we prove the solvability for this class of vector variational inequalities without monotonicity assumption. The solvability results for this class of vector variational inequalities with monotone mappings are also presented by using the KKM-Fan lemma This paper is dedicated to Professor Franco Giannessi for his 68th birthday  相似文献

The implicit function theorem is applied in a nonstandard way to abstract variational inequalities depending on a (possibly infinite-dimensional) parameter. In this way, results on smooth continuation of solutions as well as of eigenvalues and eigenvectors are established under certain particular assumptions. The abstract results are applied to a linear second order elliptic eigenvalue problem with nonlocal unilateral boundary conditions (Schrödinger operator with the potential as the parameter).  相似文献

We analyze the radial symmetry of extremals for a class of interpolation inequalities known as Caffarelli?CKohn?CNirenberg inequalities, and for a class of weighted logarithmic Hardy inequalities which appear as limiting cases of the first ones. In both classes we show that there exists a continuous surface that splits the set of admissible parameters into a region where extremals are symmetric and a region where symmetry breaking occurs. In previous results, the symmetry breaking region was identified by showing the linear instability of the radial extremals. Here we prove that symmetry can be broken even within the set of parameters where radial extremals correspond to local minima for the variational problem associated with the inequality. For interpolation inequalities, such a symmetry breaking phenomenon is entirely new.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce and study a number of new classes of quasi variational inequalities. Using essentially the projection technique and its variant forms we prove that the generalized set-valued mixed quasivariational inequalities are equivalent to the fixed point problem and the Wiener-Hopf equations (normal maps). This equivalence enables us to suggest a number of iterative algorithms for solving the generalized variational inequalities. As a special case of the generalized set-valued mixed quasi variational inequalities, we obtain a class of quasi variational inequalities studied by Siddiqi, Husain and Kazmi [35], but there are several inaccuracies in their formulation of the problem, the statement and the proofs of their results. We have removed these inaccuracies. The correct formulation of their results can be obtained as special cases from our main results.  相似文献
