In this paper, we analyze oscillatory properties of perturbed half-linear differential equations (i.e., equations with one-dimensional p-Laplacian). The presented research covers the Euler and Riemann–Weber type equations with very general coefficients. We prove an oscillatory result and a nonoscillatory one, which show that the studied equations are conditionally oscillatory (i.e., there exists a certain threshold value that separates oscillatory and nonoscillatory equations). The obtained criteria are easy to use. Since the number of perturbations is arbitrary, we solve the oscillation behavior of the equations in the critical setting when the coefficients give exactly the threshold value. The results are new for linear equations as well.  相似文献

We study oscillatory properties of half‐linear dynamic equations on timescales. Via the combination of the Riccati technique and an averaging method, we find the domain of oscillation for many equations. The presented main result is not the conversion of a known result from the theory of differential or difference equations, ie, we obtain new results for the timescales (for differential equations) and (for difference equations). Half‐linear equations generalize linear equations (in fact, they coincide with certain one‐dimensional PDEs with p‐Laplacian), but the main result is new also for linear differential and difference equations. The corresponding corollaries and examples are given as well.  相似文献

The propagation of wave envelopes in two‐dimensional (2‐D) simple periodic lattices is studied. A discrete approximation, known as the tight‐binding (TB) approximation, is employed to find the equations governing a class of nonlinear discrete envelopes in simple 2‐D periodic lattices. Instead of using Wannier function analysis, the orbital approximation of Bloch modes that has been widely used in the physical literature, is employed. With this approximation the Bloch envelope dynamics associated with both simple and degenerate bands are readily studied. The governing equations are found to be discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS)‐type equations or coupled NLS‐type systems. The coefficients of the linear part of the equations are related to the linear dispersion relation. When the envelopes vary slowly, the continuous limit of the general discrete NLS equations are effective NLS equations in moving frames. These continuous NLS equations (from discrete to continuous) also agree with those derived via a direct multiscale expansion. Rectangular and triangular lattices are examples.  相似文献

In this article, a new canonical function has been established to deal with Riemann boundary‐value problem of periodic analytic functions discussed in 16 . In comparison with the corresponding result in 16 , the expression of solution obtained here is much simpler. Then, we demonstrate the equivalence of solutions for the homogeneous Riemann problem. What's more, we obtain the precise rank of matrix of coefficients for the system of linear algebraic equations (4.35) in 16 . Those results can simplify the discussion of Riemann problem of single‐periodic polyanalytic functions in 16 .  相似文献

In this paper, we first propose a concept of weighted pseudo‐almost periodic functions on time scales and study some basic properties of weighted pseudo‐almost periodic functions on time scales. Then, we establish some results about the existence of weighted pseudo‐almost periodic solutions to linear dynamic equations on time scales. Finally, as an application of our results, we study the existence and global exponential stability of weighted pseudo‐almost periodic solutions for a class of cellular neural networks with discrete delays on time scales. This paper is concerned with the oscillation of numerical solution for the Nicholson's blowflies model. Using two kinds of θ‐methods, namely, the linear θ‐method and the one‐leg θ‐method, several conditions under which the numerical solution oscillates are derived. Moreover, it is shown that every non‐oscillatory numerical solution tends to equilibrium point of the original continuous‐time model. This paper is a continuation of a recent work by the authors on the oscillatory properties of second-order half-linear neutral delay differential equations. Providing a new apriori bound for a nonoscillatory solution, we present a new oscillation criterion, which essentially improves the existing ones. In a particular nonneutral case, the obtained oscillation constant is unimprovable.  相似文献

In the paper we consider three classes of models describing carcinogenesis mutations. Every considered model is described by the system of (n+1) equations, and in each class three models are studied: the first is expressed as a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), the second—as a system of reaction–diffusion equations (RDEs) with the same kinetics as the first one and with the Neumann boundary conditions, while the third is also described by the system of RDEs but with the Dirichlet boundary conditions. The models are formulated on the basis of the Lotka–Volterra systems (food chains and competition systems) and in the case of RDEs the linear diffusion is considered. The differences between studied classes of models are expressed by the kinetic functions, namely by the form of kinetic function for the last variable, which reflects the dynamics of malignant cells (that is the last stage of mutations). In the first class the models are described by the typical food chain with favourable unbounded environment for the last stage, in the second one—the last equation expresses competition between the pre‐malignant and malignant cells and the environment is also unbounded, while for the third one—it is expressed by predation term but the environment is unfavourable. The properties of the systems in each class are studied and compared. It occurs that the behaviour of solutions to the systems of ODEs and RDEs with the Neumann boundary conditions is similar in each class; i.e. it does not depend on diffusion coefficients, but strongly depends on the class of models. On the other hand, in the case of the Dirichlet boundary conditions this behaviour is related to the magnitude of diffusion coefficients. For sufficiently large diffusion coefficients it is similar independently of the class of models, i.e. the trivial solution that is unstable for zero diffusion gains stability. In this paper, we construct a weakly‐nonlinear d'Alembert‐type solution of the Cauchy problem for the Boussinesq‐Klein‐Gordon (BKG) equation. Similarly to our earlier work based on the use of spatial Fourier series, we consider the problem in the class of periodic functions on an interval of finite length (including the case of localized solutions on a large interval), and work with the nonlinear partial differential equation with variable coefficients describing the deviation from the oscillating mean value. Unlike our earlier paper, here we develop a novel multiple‐scales procedure involving fast characteristic variables and two slow time scales and averaging with respect to the spatial variable at a constant value of one or another characteristic variable, which allows us to construct an explicit and compact d'Alembert‐type solution of the nonlinear problem in terms of solutions of two Ostrovsky equations emerging at the leading order and describing the right‐ and left‐propagating waves. Validity of the constructed solution in the case when only the first initial condition for the BKG equation may have nonzero mean value follows from our earlier results, and is illustrated numerically for a number of instructive examples, both for periodic solutions on a finite interval, and localized solutions on a large interval. We also outline an extension of the procedure to the general case, when both initial conditions may have nonzero mean values. Importantly, in all cases, the initial conditions for the leading‐order Ostrovsky equations by construction have zero mean, while initial conditions for the BKG equation may have nonzero mean values.  相似文献

We prove bounds on the homogenized coefficients for general non‐periodic mixtures of an arbitrary number of isotropic materials, in the heat conduction framework. The component materials and their proportions are given through the Young measure associated to the sequence of coefficient functions. Upper and lower bounds inequalities are deduced in terms of algebraic relations between this Young measure and the eigenvalues of the H‐limit matrix. The proofs employ arguments of compensated compactness and fine properties of Young measures. When restricted to the periodic case, we recover known bounds. Using the existence of integrable bi–almost‐periodic Green functions of linear homogeneous differential equations and the contraction fixed point, we are able to prove the existence of almost and pseudo–almost‐periodic mild solutions under quite general hypotheses for the differential equation with constant delay in a Banach space X, where τ>0 is a fixed constant. The results extend the corresponding ones in the case of exponential dichotomy. Some examples illustrate the importance of the concepts.  相似文献

Linear difference equations with variable delay are considered. The most important result of this paper is a new oscillation criterion, which should be looked upon as the discrete analogue of a well-known oscillation criterion for first order linear delay differential equations. This criterion constitutes a substantial improvement of an oscillation result due to the first author (Funkcial. Ekvac. 34 (1991), pp. 157–172). The results obtained extend the ones by the authors and Stavroulakis (J. Differ. Equ. Appl. 10 (2004), pp. 419–435) concerning the special case of linear difference equations with constant delay.  相似文献

The stability of periodic solutions of partial differential equations has been an area of increasing interest in the last decade. In this paper, we derive all periodic traveling wave solutions of the focusing and defocusing mKdV equations. We show that in the defocusing case all such solutions are orbitally stable with respect to subharmonic perturbations: perturbations that are periodic with period equal to an integer multiple of the period of the underlying solution. We do this by explicitly computing the spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions associated with the linear stability problem. Next, we bring into play different members of the mKdV hierarchy. Combining this with the spectral stability results allows for the construction of a Lyapunov function for the periodic traveling waves. Using the seminal results of Grillakis, Shatah, and Strauss, we are able to conclude orbital stability. In the focusing case, we show how instabilities arise.  相似文献

This paper addresses numerical computation of time‐periodic diffusion equations with fractional Laplacian. Time‐periodic differential equations present fundamental challenges for numerical computation because we have to consider all the discrete solutions once in all instead of one by one. An idea based on the diagonalization technique is proposed, which yields a direct parallel‐in‐time computation for all the discrete solutions. The major computation cost is therefore reduced to solve a series of independent linear algebraic systems with complex coefficients, for which we apply a multigrid method using the damped Richardson iteration as the smoother. Such a linear solver possesses mesh‐independent convergence factor, and we make an optimization for the damping parameter to minimize such a constant convergence factor. Numerical results are provided to support our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of systems of matrix nonlinear differential equations containing as particular cases the systems of coupled Riccati differential equations arising in connection with control of some linear stochastic systems is considered.The system of differential equations considered in this paper are converted in a suitable nonlinear differential equation on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space adequately choosen.This allows us to use the positivity properties of the linear evolution operator defined by the linear differential equations of Lyapunov type.Our aim is to investigate properties of stabilizing and bounded solutions of the considered differential equations and to obtain some conditions ensuring the existence of such solutions.Conditions providing the existence of a maximal solution (minimal solution respectively) with respect to some classes of global solutions are presented. It is shown that if the coefficients of the equations are periodic functions all these special solutions (stabilizing, maximal, minimal) are periodic functions, too.Whenever possible the probabilistic arguments were avoided and so the results proved in the paper appear as results in the field of differential equations with interest in themselves.  相似文献
