Buchwalter and Schmets reconciled Cc(X) and Cp(X) spaces with most of the weak barrelledness conditions of 1973, but could not determine if -barrelled ⇔ ?-barrelled for Cc(X). The areas grew apart. Full reconciliation with the fourteen conditions adopted by Saxon and Sánchez Ruiz needs their 1997 characterization of Ruess' property (L), which allows us to reduce the Cc(X) problem to its 1973 status and solve it by carefully translating the topology of Kunen (1980) and van Mill (1982) to find the example that eluded Buchwalter and Schmets. The more tractable Cp(X) readily partitions the conditions into just two equivalence classes, the same as for metrizable locally convex spaces, instead of the five required for Cc(X) spaces. Our paper elicits others, soon to appear, that analytically characterize when the Tychonov space X is pseudocompact, or Warner bounded, or when Cc(X) is a df-space (Jarchow's 1981 question).  相似文献

In a previous paper, the author used a notion of orthogonality introduced in another article to establish characterizations for orthogonality in the spaces lSp(C), 1?p<∞, thus obtaining generalizations of the usual characterization of orthogonality in the Hilbert spaces lS2(C), via inner products. In this paper we make explicit these characterizations for some of the spaces lSp(C). We finish by presenting some remarks and open problems.  相似文献

A sequence is said to be k-automatic if the nth term of this sequence is generated by a finite state machine with n in base k as input. Regular sequences were first defined by Allouche and Shallit as a generalization of automatic sequences. Given a prime p and a polynomial f(x)∈Qp[x], we consider the sequence , where vp is the p-adic valuation. We show that this sequence is p-regular if and only if f(x) factors into a product of polynomials, one of which has no roots in Zp, the other which factors into linear polynomials over Q. This answers a question of Allouche and Shallit.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider some essential properties ofQ p (?Δ). We first show that if p>1, thenQ p (?Δ)=BMO(?Δ), the space of complex-valued functions with bounded mean oscillation on ?Δ. Second, we prove that a function belongs toQ p (?Δ) if and only if it is Möbius bounded in the Sobolev spaceL p 2 (?Δ). Finally, a characterization ofQ p (?Δ) is given via wavelets.  相似文献

The sequence spaces ?(p), c(p) and c0(p) were introduced and studied by Maddox [I.J. Maddox, Paranormed sequence spaces generated by infinite matrices, Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 64 (1968) 335-340]. In the present paper, the sequence spaces λ(u,v;p) of non-absolute type which are derived by the generalized weighted mean are defined and proved that the spaces λ(u,v;p) and λ(p) are linearly isomorphic, where λ denotes the one of the sequence spaces ?, c or c0. Besides this, the β- and γ-duals of the spaces λ(u,v;p) are computed and the basis of the spaces c0(u,v;p) and c(u,v;p) is constructed. Additionally, it is established that the sequence space c0(u,v) has AD property and given the f-dual of the space c0(u,v;p). Finally, the matrix mappings from the sequence spaces λ(u,v;p) to the sequence space μ and from the sequence space μ to the sequence spaces λ(u,v;p) are characterized.  相似文献

We use L2 estimates for the equation to find geometric conditions on discrete interpolating varieties for weighted spaces Ap(ℂ) of entire functions such that |f(z)|≤AeBp(z) for some A, B>0. We characterize the p-approximation property (p-AP) introduced by Sinha and Karn [D.P. Sinha, A.K. Karn, Compact operators whose adjoints factor through subspaces of ?p, Studia Math. 150 (2002) 17-33] in terms of density of finite rank operators in the spaces of p-compact and of adjoints of p-summable operators. As application, the p-AP of dual Banach spaces is characterized via density of finite rank operators in the space of quasi-p-nuclear operators. This relates the p-AP to Saphar's approximation property APp. As another application, the p-AP is characterized via a trace condition, allowing to define the trace functional on certain subspaces of the space of nuclear operators.  相似文献

In this paper, we give the definitions of weighted α-Besov-type spaces and α-Bloch spaces of quaternion-valued functions, then we obtain characterizations of these quaternion α-Bloch spaces by quaternion α-Besov-type spaces. Relations between Q p norms and weighted α-Besov norms are also considered. The role of ρ?α sequences in securing non-Bloch functions is highlighted in quaternion sense.  相似文献

This paper presents the study of maximal regularity properties for anisotropic differential-operator equations with VMO (vanishing mean oscillation) coefficients. We prove that the corresponding differential operator is separable and is a generator of analytic semigroup in vector-valued Lp spaces. Moreover, discreetness of spectrum and completeness of root elements of this operator is obtained.  相似文献

Building upon the ideas of R. Arens and J. Eells (1956) [1] we introduce the concept of spaces of Banach-space-valued molecules, whose duals can be naturally identified with spaces of operators between a metric space and a Banach space. On these spaces we define analogues of the tensor norms of Chevet (1969) [3] and Saphar (1970) [14], whose duals are spaces of Lipschitz p-summing operators. In particular, we identify the dual of the space of Lipschitz p-summing operators from a finite metric space to a Banach space — answering a question of J. Farmer and W.B. Johnson (2009) [6] — and use it to give a new characterization of the non-linear concept of Lipschitz p-summing operator between metric spaces in terms of linear operators between certain Banach spaces. More generally, we define analogues of the norms of J.T. Lapresté (1976) [11], whose duals are analogues of A. Pietsch?s (p,r,s)-summing operators (A. Pietsch, 1980 [12]). As a special case, we get a Lipschitz version of (q,p)-dominated operators.  相似文献

A rotationally symmetric n-harmonic map is a rotationally symmetric p-harmonic map between two n-dimensional model spaces such that p=n. We show that rotationally symmetric n-harmonic maps can be integrated and are n-harmonic diffeomorphism, and apply such results to investigate the asymptotic behaviors of these maps. An intriguing set of points of a generalised quadrangle was introduced in [J. Bamberg, M. Law, T. Penttila, Tight sets and m-ovoids of generalised quadrangles, Combinatorica, in press] as a unification of the pre-existing notions of tight set and m-ovoid. It was shown in [J. Bamberg, M. Law, T. Penttila, Tight sets and m-ovoids of generalised quadrangles, Combinatorica, in press] that every intriguing set of points in a finite generalised quadrangle is a tight set or an m-ovoid (for some m). Moreover, it was shown that an m-ovoid and an i-tight set of a common generalised quadrangle intersect in mi points. These results yielded new proofs of old results, and in this paper, we study the natural analogue of intriguing sets in finite polar spaces of higher rank. In particular, we use the techniques developed in this paper to give an alternative proof of a result of Thas [J.A. Thas, Ovoids and spreads of finite classical polar spaces, Geom. Dedicata 10 (1-4) (1981) 135-143] that there are no ovoids of H(2r,q2), Q(2r+1,q), and W(2r−1,q) for r>2. We also strengthen a result of Drudge on the non-existence of tight sets in W(2r−1,q), H(2r+1,q2), and Q+(2r+1,q), and we give a new proof of a result of De Winter, Luyckx, and Thas [S. De Winter, J.A. Thas, SPG-reguli satisfying the polar property and a new semipartial geometry, Des. Codes Cryptogr. 32 (1-3) (2004) 153-166; D. Luyckx, m-Systems of finite classical polar spaces, PhD thesis, The University of Ghent, 2002] that an m-system of W(4m+3,q) or Q(4m+3,q) is a pseudo-ovoid of the ambient projective space.  相似文献

This paper has a two-fold purpose. Let 1<p<∞. We first introduce the p-operator space injective tensor product and study various properties related to this tensor product, including the p-operator space approximation property, for p-operator spaces on Lp-spaces. We then apply these properties to the study of the pseudofunction algebra PFp(G), the pseudomeasure algebra PMp(G), and the Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebra Ap(G) of a locally compact group G. We show that if G is a discrete group, then most of approximation properties for the reduced group C-algebra , the group von Neumann algebra VN(G), and the Fourier algebra A(G) (related to amenability, weak amenability, and approximation property of G) have the natural p-analogues for PFp(G), PMp(G), and Ap(G), respectively. The p-completely bounded multiplier algebra McbAp(G) plays an important role in this work.  相似文献

We present a short proof of the sharpness of the Calderón-Lozanovskii interpolation construction in couples of weighted L p spaces in the “lower triangle,” i.e., for operators from a couple { L p0 (V 0), L p1 (V 1)} to a couple {L q0 (U 0), L q1 (U 1)} with p 0 ? q 0 and p 1 ? q 1. This generalizes the well-known result due to Dmitriev and Semenov on the sharpness of the Riesz-Thorin interpolation theorem in the “lower triangle” for L p spaces on intervals.  相似文献

Let sR, τ∈[0,∞), p∈(1,∞) and q∈(1,∞]. In this paper, we introduce a new class of function spaces which unify and generalize the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces with both p∈(1,∞) and p=∞ and Q spaces. By establishing the Carleson measure characterization of Q space, we then determine the relationship between Triebel-Lizorkin spaces and Q spaces, which answers a question posed by Dafni and Xiao in [G. Dafni, J. Xiao, Some new tent spaces and duality theorem for fractional Carleson measures and Qα(Rn), J. Funct. Anal. 208 (2004) 377-422]. Moreover, via the Hausdorff capacity, we introduce a new class of tent spaces and determine their dual spaces , where sR, p,q∈[1,∞), max{p,q}>1, , and t denotes the conjugate index of t∈(1,∞); as an application of this, we further introduce certain Hardy-Hausdorff spaces and prove that the dual space of is just when p,q∈(1,∞).  相似文献
