Consider a varying-coefficient single-index model which consists of two parts: the linear part with varying coefficients and the nonlinear part with a single-index structure, and are hence termed as varying-coefficient single-index models. This model includes many important regression models such as single-index models, partially linear single-index models, varying-coefficient model and varying-coefficient partially linear models as special examples. In this paper, we mainly study estimating problems of the varying-coefficient vector, the nonparametric link function and the unknown parametric vector describing the single-index in the model. A stepwise approach is developed to obtain asymptotic normality estimators of the varying-coefficient vector and the parametric vector, and estimators of the nonparametric link function with a convergence rate. The consistent estimator of the structural error variance is also obtained. In addition, asymptotic pointwise confidence intervals and confidence regions are constructed for the varying coefficients and the parametric vector. The bandwidth selection problem is also considered. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the proposed methods, and real data analysis is also used to illustrate our methods.  相似文献

Admissibility of linear estimators of a regression coefficient in linear models with and without the assumption that the underlying distribution is normal is discussed under a balanced loss function. In the non-normal case, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for linear estimators to be admissible in the space of homogeneous linear estimators. In the normal case, a sufficient condition is provided for restricted linear estimators to be admissible in the space of all estimators having finite risks under the balanced loss function. Furthermore, the sufficient condition is proved to be necessary in the normal case if additional conditions are assumed.  相似文献

In this article, a family of feasible generalized double k-class estimator in a linear regression model with non-spherical disturbances is considered. The performance of this estimator is judged with feasible generalized least-squares and feasible generalized Stein-rule estimators under balanced loss function using the criteria of quadratic risk and general Pitman closeness. A Monte-Carlo study investigates the finite sample properties of several estimators arising from the family of feasible double k-class estimators.  相似文献

This note discusses the asymptotic distribution of two scale and location invariant estimators of two scale parameters in the multiple linear regression model. Both of these estimators need an initial estimator of the regression parameter vector. The asymptotic distribution of one of these estimators does not depend on this initial estimator. Both of these estimators are useful in the computation of scale and translation invariant adaptive estimators and M-estimators of the regression parameter vector.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new estimator for a kurtosis in a multivariate nonnormal linear regression model. Usually, an estimator is constructed from an arithmetic mean of the second power of the squared sample Mahalanobis distances between observations and their estimated values. The estimator gives an underestimation and has a large bias, even if the sample size is not small. We replace this squared distance with a transformed squared norm of the Studentized residual using a monotonic increasing function. Our proposed estimator is defined by an arithmetic mean of the second power of these squared transformed squared norms with a correction term and a tuning parameter. The correction term adjusts our estimator to an unbiased estimator under normality, and the tuning parameter controls the sizes of the squared norms of the residuals. The family of our estimators includes estimators based on ordinary least squares and predicted residuals. We verify that the bias of our new estimator is smaller than usual by constructing numerical experiments.  相似文献

The varying coefficient partially linear model is considered in this paper. When the plug-in estimators of coefficient functions are used, the resulting smoothing score function becomes biased due to the slow convergence rate of nonparametric estimations. To reduce the bias of the resulting smoothing score function, a profile-type smoothed score function is proposed to draw inferences on the parameters of interest without using the quasi-likelihood framework, the least favorable curve, a higher order kernel or under-smoothing. The resulting profile-type statistic is still asymptotically Chi-squared under some regularity conditions. The results are then used to construct confidence regions for the parameters of interest. A simulation study is carried out to assess the performance of the proposed method and to compare it with the profile least-squares method. A real dataset is analyzed for illustration.  相似文献

Summary The paper considers estimation of the natural parameter vector or the mean vector from independent distributions each belonging to the one-parameter discrete or absolutely continuous exponential family. The usual estimators (maximum likelihood, minimum variance unbiased or best invariant) are improved simultaneously under various weighted squared error losses. Rates of convergence for minimum contrast estimators   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Summary We shall present here a general study of minimum contrast estimators in a nonparametric setting (although our results are also valid in the classical parametric case) for independent observations. These estimators include many of the most popular estimators in various situations such as maximum likelihood estimators, least squares and other estimators of the regression function, estimators for mixture models or deconvolution... The main theorem relates the rate of convergence of those estimators to the entropy structure of the space of parameters. Optimal rates depending on entropy conditions are already known, at least for some of the models involved, and they agree with what we get for minimum contrast estimators as long as the entropy counts are not too large. But, under some circumstances (large entropies or changes in the entropy structure due to local perturbations), the resulting the rates are only suboptimal. Counterexamples are constructed which show that the phenomenon is real for non-parametric maximum likelihood or regression. This proves that, under purely metric assumptions, our theorem is optimal and that minimum contrast estimators happen to be suboptimal.  相似文献

Reduced rank regression assumes that the coefficient matrix in a multivariate regression model is not of full rank. The unknown rank is traditionally estimated under the assumption of normal responses. We derive an asymptotic test for the rank that only requires the response vector have finite second moments. The test is extended to the nonconstant covariance case. Linear combinations of the components of the predictor vector that are estimated to be significant for modelling the responses are obtained.  相似文献

In the linear regression model with ellipsoidal parameter constraints, the problem of estimating the unknown parameter vector is studied. A well-described subclass of Bayes linear estimators is proposed in the paper. It is shown that for each member of this subclass, a generalized quadratic risk function exists so that the estimator is minimax. Moreover, some of the proposed Bayes linear estimators are admissible with respect to all possible generalized quadratic risks. Also, a necessary and sufficient condition is given to ensure that the considered Bayes linear estimator improves the least squares estimator over the whole ellipsoid whatever generalized risk function is chosen.  相似文献

We study a multivariate ultrastructural measurement error (MUME) model with more than one response variable. This model is a synthesis of multivariate functional and structural models. Three consistent estimators of regression coefficients, satisfying the exact linear restrictions have been proposed. Their asymptotic distributions are derived under the assumption of a non-normal measurement error and random error components. A simulation study is carried out to investigate the small sample properties of the estimators. The effect of departure from normality of the measurement errors on the estimators is assessed.  相似文献

In this paper we present recentered confidence sets for the parameters of a logistic regression model based on preliminary minimum ??-divergence estimators. Asymptotic coverage probabilities are given as well as a simulation study in order to analyze the coverage probabilities for small and moderate sample sizes.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the regression function or its νth derivative in generalized linear models which may have a change/discontinuity point at an unknown location. The location and its jump size are estimated with the local polynomial fits based on one-sided kernel weighted local-likelihood functions. Asymptotic distributions of the proposed estimators of location and jump size are established. The finite-sample performances of the proposed estimators with practical aspects are illustrated by simulated and beetle mortality examples.  相似文献

We consider the problem of estimating the parameter vector in the linear model when observations on the independent variables are partially missing or incorrect. New estimators are developed, which systematically combine prior information with the incomplete data. We compare these methods with the alternative strategy of deleting incomplete observations.Support by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Grant No. 284/1-2 is gratefully acknowledged.  相似文献

We consider a difference based ridge regression estimator and a Liu type estimator of the regression parameters in the partial linear semiparametric regression model, y=Xβ+f+ε. Both estimators are analyzed and compared in the sense of mean-squared error. We consider the case of independent errors with equal variance and give conditions under which the proposed estimators are superior to the unbiased difference based estimation technique. We extend the results to account for heteroscedasticity and autocovariance in the error terms. Finally, we illustrate the performance of these estimators with an application to the determinants of electricity consumption in Germany.  相似文献

Thresholding projection estimators in functional linear models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider the problem of estimating the regression function in functional linear regression models by proposing a new type of projection estimators which combine dimension reduction and thresholding. The introduction of a threshold rule allows us to get consistency under broad assumptions as well as minimax rates of convergence under additional regularity hypotheses. We also consider the particular case of Sobolev spaces generated by the trigonometric basis which permits us to get easily mean squared error of prediction as well as estimators of the derivatives of the regression function. We prove that these estimators are minimax and rates of convergence are given for some particular cases.  相似文献

The annual percent change (APC) has been adopted as a useful measure for analyzing the changing trends of cancer mortality and incidence rates by the NCI SEER program. Difficulties, however, arise when comparing the sample APCs between two overlapping regions because of induced dependence (e.g., comparing the cancer mortality change rate of California with that of the national level). This paper deals with a new perspective for understanding the sample distribution of the test-statistics for comparing the APCs between overlapping regions. Our proposal allows for computational readiness and easy interpretability. We further propose a more general family of estimators, namely, the so-called minimum power divergence estimators, including the maximum likelihood estimators as a special case. Our simulation experiments support the superiority of the proposed estimator to the conventional maximum likelihood estimator. The proposed method is illustrated by the analysis of the SEER cancer mortality rates observed from 1991 to 2006.  相似文献

We consider adaptive maximum likelihood type estimation of both drift and diffusion coefficient parameters for an ergodic diffusion process based on discrete observations. Two kinds of adaptive maximum likelihood type estimators are proposed and asymptotic properties of the adaptive estimators, including convergence of moments, are obtained.  相似文献

Multivariate isotonic regression theory plays a key role in the field of statistical inference under order restriction for vector valued parameters. Two cases of estimating multivariate normal means under order restricted set are considered. One case is that covariance matrices are known, the other one is that covariance matrices are unknown but are restricted by partial order. This paper shows that when covariance matrices are known, the estimator given by this paper always dominates unrestricted maximum likelihood estimator uniformly, and when covariance matrices are unknown, the plug-in estimator dominates unrestricted maximum likelihood estimator under the order restricted set of covariance matrices. The isotonic regression estimators in this paper are the generalizations of plug-in estimators in unitary case.  相似文献
