Multivariate autoregressive models with exogenous variables (VARX) are often used in econometric applications. Many properties of the basic statistics for this class of models rely on the assumption of independent errors. Using results of Hong (Econometrica 64 (1996) 837), we propose a new test statistic for checking the hypothesis of non-correlation or independence in the Gaussian case. The test statistic is obtained by comparing the spectral density of the errors under the null hypothesis of independence with a kernel-based spectral density estimator. The asymptotic distribution of the statistic is derived under the null hypothesis. This test generalizes the portmanteau test of Hosking (J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 75 (1980) 602). The consistency of the test is established for a general class of static regression models with autocorrelated errors. Its asymptotic slope is derived and the asymptotic relative efficiency within the class of possible kernels is also investigated. Finally, the level and power of the resulting tests are also studied by simulation.  相似文献

We propose a general nonparametric approach for testing hypotheses about the spectral density matrix of multivariate stationary time series based on estimating the integrated deviation from the null hypothesis. This approach covers many important examples from interrelation analysis such as tests for noncorrelation or partial noncorrelation. Based on a central limit theorem for integrated quadratic functionals of the spectral matrix, we derive asymptotic normality of a suitably standardized version of the test statistic under the null hypothesis and under fixed as well as under sequences of local alternatives. The results are extended to cover also parametric and semiparametric hypotheses about spectral density matrices, which includes as examples goodness-of-fit tests and tests for separability.  相似文献

In the framework of ARMA models, we consider testing the reliability of the standard asymptotic covariance matrix (ACM) of the least-squares estimator. The standard formula for this ACM is derived under the assumption that the errors are independent and identically distributed, and is in general invalid when the errors are only uncorrelated. The test statistic is based on the difference between a conventional estimator of the ACM of the least-squares estimator of the ARMA coefficients and its robust HAC-type version. The asymptotic distribution of the HAC estimator is established under the null hypothesis of independence, and under a large class of alternatives. The asymptotic distribution of the proposed statistic is shown to be a standard χ2 under the null, and a noncentral χ2 under the alternatives. The choice of the HAC estimator is discussed through asymptotic power comparisons. The finite sample properties of the test are analyzed via Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Model checking in errors-in-variables regression   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper discusses a class of minimum distance tests for fitting a parametric regression model to a class of regression functions in the errors-in-variables model. These tests are based on certain minimized distances between a nonparametric regression function estimator and a deconvolution kernel estimator of the conditional expectation of the parametric model being fitted. The paper establishes the asymptotic normality of the proposed test statistics under the null hypothesis and that of the corresponding minimum distance estimators. We also prove the consistency of the proposed tests against a fixed alternative and obtain the asymptotic distributions for general local alternatives. Simulation studies show that the testing procedures are quite satisfactory in the preservation of the finite sample level and in terms of a power comparison.  相似文献

This paper establishes the weak convergence of a class of marked empirical processes of possibly non-stationary and/or non-ergodic multivariate time series sequences under martingale conditions. The assumptions involved are similar to those in Brown's martingale central limit theorem. In particular, no mixing conditions are imposed. As an application, we propose a test statistic for the martingale hypothesis and we derive its asymptotic null distribution. Finally, a Monte Carlo study shows that the asymptotic results provide good approximations for small and moderate sample sizes. An application to the S&P 500 is also considered.  相似文献

In this paper we give a unified derivation of the likelihood ratio (LR) statistics for testing the hypothesis on the dimensionality of regression coefficients under a usual MANOVA model. We also derive the LR statistics under a general MANOVA model and study their asymptotic null and nonnull distributions. Further it is shown that the test statistic used by Bartlett [4] for testing the hypothesis that the last p?k canonical correlations are all zero is the LR statistic.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of testing the hypothesis about the sub-mean vector. For this propose, the asymptotic expansion of the null distribution of Rao's U-statistic under a general condition is obtained up to order of n-1. The same problem in the k-sample case is also investigated. We find that the asymptotic distribution of generalized U-statistic in the k-sample case is identical to that of the generalized Hotelling's T2 distribution up to n-1. A simulation experiment is carried out and its results are presented. It shows that the asymptotic distributions have significant improvement when comparing with the limiting distributions both in the small sample case and the large sample case. It also demonstrates the equivalence of two testing statistics mentioned above.  相似文献

We consider the problem of deriving the asymptotic distribution of the three commonly used multivariate test statistics, namely likelihood ratio, Lawley-Hotelling and Bartlett-Nanda-Pillai statistics, for testing hypotheses on the various effects (main, nested or interaction) in multivariate mixed models. We derive the distributions of these statistics, both in the null as well as non-null cases, as the number of levels of one of the main effects (random or fixed) goes to infinity. The robustness of these statistics against departure from normality will be assessed.Essentially, in the asymptotic spirit of this paper, both the hypothesis and error degrees of freedom tend to infinity at a fixed rate. It is intuitively appealing to consider asymptotics of this type because, for example, in random or mixed effects models, the levels of the main random factors are assumed to be a random sample from a large population of levels. For the asymptotic results of this paper to hold, we do not require any distributional assumption on the errors. That means the results can be used in real-life applications where normality assumption is not tenable. As it happens, the asymptotic distributions of the three statistics are normal. The statistics have been found to be asymptotically null robust against the departure from normality in the balanced designs. The expressions for the asymptotic means and variances are fairly simple. That makes the results an attractive alternative to the standard asymptotic results. These statements are favorably supported by the numerical results.  相似文献

In this paper, some test statistics of Kolmogorov type and Cramer-von Mises type based on projection pursuit technique are proposed for testing the sphericity problem of a high-dimensional distribution. The limiting distributions of the test statistics are derived under the null hypothesis and any fixed alternative. The asymptotic properties of Bootstrap approximation are investigated. Furthermore, for computational reasons, an approximation for the statistics, based on number theoretic method, is suggested.  相似文献

Consistent procedures are constructed for testing independence between the regressor and the error in non-parametric regression models. The tests are based on the Fourier formulation of independence, and utilize the joint and the marginal empirical characteristic functions of the regressor and of estimated residuals. The asymptotic null distribution as well as the behavior of the test statistic under alternatives is investigated. A simulation study compares bootstrap versions of the proposed tests to corresponding procedures utilizing the empirical distribution function.  相似文献

For profile analysis of independent samples from several multivariate populations, a nonparametric analog of the hypothesis of parallelism of population profiles is formulated. A class of asymptotically distribution-free statistics is offered to test this hypothesis. These are based on generalized U statistics and are in some sense modifications of statistics offered previously by one of the authors for testing the homogeneity hypothesis. Consistency of these statistics is established for suitable alternatives and also asymptotic power is investigated.  相似文献

Summary The distribution-free test based on semi-aligned rankings for no treatment effects in a two-way layout, with unequal number of replications in each cell is considered. The asymptotic χ-square distribution of the test statistic under the null hypothesis is derived. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency of the test (i) based on semi-aligned rankings with respect to the test (ii) based on within-block rankings, is shown to be larger than one as the number of blocks tends to infinity. Also the asymptotic properties of linear rank statistics (i) and (ii) are investigated and the asymptotic relative efficiency of the test (i) with respect to the test (ii) is again shown to be larger than one.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to derive the stochastic expansion of self-normalized-residual functionals stemming from a class of diffusion type processes observed at high frequency, where total observing period may or may not tend to infinity. The result enables us to construct some explicit statistics for goodness of fit tests, consistent against “presence of a jump component” and “diffusion-coefficient misspecification”; then, the acceptance of the null hypothesis may serve as a collateral evidence for using the correctly specified diffusion type model. Especially, our asymptotic result clarifies how to remove the bias caused by plugging in a diffusion-coefficient estimator.  相似文献

This paper presents a statistic for testing the hypothesis of elliptical symmetry. The statistic also provides a specialized test of multivariate normality. We obtain the asymptotic distribution of this statistic under the null hypothesis of multivariate normality, and give a bootstrapping procedure for approximating the null distribution of the statistic under an arbitrary elliptically symmetric distribution. We present simulation results to examine the accuracy of the asymptotic distribution and the performance of the bootstrapping procedure. Finally, for selected alternatives, we compare the power of our test statistic with that of recently proposed tests for elliptical symmetry given by Manzotti et al. [A statistic for testing the null hypothesis of elliptical symmetry, J. Multivariate Anal. 81 (2002) 274-285] and Schott [Testing for elliptical symmetry in covariance-matrix-based analyses, Statist. Probab. Lett. 60 (2002) 395-404], and with that of the well known tests for multivariate normality of Mardia [Measures of multivariate skewness and kurtosis with applications, Biometrika 57 (1970) 519-530] and Baringhaus and Henze [A consistent test for multivariate normality based on the empirical characteristic function, Metrika 35 (1988) 339-348].  相似文献

In this article, we consider the problem of testing a linear hypothesis in a multivariate linear regression model which includes the case of testing the equality of mean vectors of several multivariate normal populations with common covariance matrix Σ, the so-called multivariate analysis of variance or MANOVA problem. However, we have fewer observations than the dimension of the random vectors. Two tests are proposed and their asymptotic distributions under the hypothesis as well as under the alternatives are given under some mild conditions. A theoretical comparison of these powers is made.  相似文献

We developed two kernel smoothing based tests of a parametric mean-regression model against a nonparametric alternative when the response variable is right-censored. The new test statistics are inspired by the synthetic data and the weighted least squares approaches for estimating the parameters of a (non)linear regression model under censoring. The asymptotic critical values of our tests are given by the quantiles of the standard normal law. The tests are consistent against fixed alternatives, local Pitman alternatives and uniformly over alternatives in Hölder classes of functions of known regularity.  相似文献

In this note we develop a family of test statistics for testing exponentiality against NBUE alternatives. The asymptotic distribution of the test statistics is derived. The test statistics are shown to be asymptotically normal and consistent. This family of test statistics includes the test proposed by Hollander and Proschan (1975) as a special case. Efficiency studies have also been done.  相似文献

This work is concerned with tests on structural breaks in the spot volatility process of a general Itô semimartingale based on discrete observations contaminated with i.i.d. microstructure noise. We construct a consistent test building up on infill asymptotic results for certain functionals of spectral spot volatility estimates. A weak limit theorem is established under the null hypothesis relying on extreme value theory. We prove consistency of the test and of an associated estimator for the change point. A simulation study illustrates the finite-sample performance of the method and efficiency gains compared to a skip-sampling approach.  相似文献

Deheuvels proposed a rank test of independence based on a Cramér-von Mises functional of the empirical copula process. Using a general result on the asymptotic distribution of this process under sequences of contiguous alternatives, the local power curve of Deheuvels’ test is computed in the bivariate case and compared to that of competing procedures based on linear rank statistics. The Gil-Pelaez inversion formula is used to make additional comparisons in terms of a natural extension of Pitman's measure of asymptotic relative efficiency.  相似文献

Summary In this paper the nonparametric several sample scale problem is considered and some tests are proposed for the hypothesis of homogeneity versus ordered alternatives. These tests are based on statistics that are weighted linear combinations of Sugiura (1965,Osaka J. Math.,2, 385–426) type statistics proposed for testing homogeneity of scale against the omnibus alternative. For each class of test statistics suggested, the member with maximum Pitman efficiency is identified. The optimal statistics are compared with their parametric and nonparametric competitors.  相似文献
