The proportional hazards regression model, when subjects enter the study in a staggered fashion, is studied. A strong martingale approach is used to model the two-time parameter counting processes. It is shown that well-known univariate results such as weak convergence and martingale inequalities can be extended to this two-dimensional model. Strong martingale theory is also used to prove weight convergence of a general weighted goodness-of-fit process and its weighted bootstrap counterpart.  相似文献

We consider a difference based ridge regression estimator and a Liu type estimator of the regression parameters in the partial linear semiparametric regression model, y=Xβ+f+ε. Both estimators are analyzed and compared in the sense of mean-squared error. We consider the case of independent errors with equal variance and give conditions under which the proposed estimators are superior to the unbiased difference based estimation technique. We extend the results to account for heteroscedasticity and autocovariance in the error terms. Finally, we illustrate the performance of these estimators with an application to the determinants of electricity consumption in Germany.  相似文献

This paper investigates the relationship between the minimal Hellinger martingale measure of order qq (MHM measure hereafter) and the qq-optimal martingale measure for any q≠1q1. First, we provide more results for the MHM measure; in particular we establish its complete characterization in two manners. Then we derive two equivalent conditions for both martingale measures to coincide. These conditions are in particular fulfilled in the case of markets driven by Lévy processes. Finally, we analyze the MHM measure as well as its relationship to the qq-optimal martingale measure for the case of a discrete-time market model.  相似文献

The problem of nonlinear filtering of multiparameter random fields, observed in the presence of a long-range dependent spatial noise, is considered. When the observation noise is modelled by a persistent fractional Wiener sheet, several pathwise representations of the optimal filter are derived. The representations involve series of multiple stochastic integrals of different types and are particularly important since the evolution equations, satisfied by the best mean-square estimate of the signal random field, have a complicated analytical structure and fail to be proper (measure-valued) stochastic partial differential equations. Several of the above optimal filter representations involve a new family of strong martingale transforms associated to the multiparameter fractional Brownian sheet; the latter martingale family is of independent interest in fractional stochastic calculus of multiparameter random fields.  相似文献

The paper develops a way of embedding general martingales in continuous ones in such a way that the quadratic variation of the continuous martingale has conditional cumulants (given the original martingale) that are explicitly given in terms of optional and predictable variations of the original process. Bartlett identities for the conditional cumulants are also found. A main corollary to these results is the establishment of second (and in some cases higher) order asymptotic expansions for martingales.Research supported in part by National Science Foundation grant DMS 93-05601 and Army Research Office grant DAAH04-1-0105  相似文献

In this article we study processes that are constructed by a convolution of a deterministic kernel with a martingale. A special emphasis is put on the case where the driving martingale is a centred Lévy process, which covers the popular class of fractional Lévy processes. As a main result we show that, under appropriate assumptions on the kernel and the martingale, the maximum process of the corresponding “convoluted martingale” is p-integrable and we derive maximal inequalities in terms of the kernel and of the moments of the driving martingale.  相似文献

The asymptotic properties of the quasi-maximum likelihood estimator (QMLE) of vector autoregressive moving-average (VARMA) models are derived under the assumption that the errors are uncorrelated but not necessarily independent nor martingale differences. Relaxing the martingale difference assumption on the errors considerably extends the range of application of the VARMA models, and allows one to cover linear representations of general nonlinear processes. Conditions are given for the asymptotic normality of the QMLE. Particular attention is given to the estimation of the asymptotic variance matrix, which may be very different from that obtained in the standard framework.  相似文献

In this paper we present a martingale related to the exit measures of super Brownian motion. By changing measure with this martingale in the canonical way we have a new process associated with the conditioned exit measure. This measure is shown to be identical to a measure generated by a non-homogeneous branching particle system with immigration of mass. An application is given to the problem of conditioning the exit measure to hit a number of specified points on the boundary of a domain. The results are similar in flavor to the “immortal particle” picture of conditioned super Brownian motion but more general, as the change of measure is given by a martingale which need not arise from a single harmonic function. Summary In this article, we obtain some sufficient conditions for weak convergence of a sequence of processes {X n } toX, whenX arises as a solution to a well posed martingale problem. These conditions are tailored for application to the case when the state space for the processesX n ,X is infinite dimensional. The usefulness of these conditions is illustrated by deriving Donsker's invariance principle for Hilbert space valued random variables. Also, continuous dependence of Hilbert space valued diffusions on diffusion and drift coefficients is proved.Research supported by National Board for Higher Mathematics, Bombay, IndiaPart of the work was done at University of California, Santa Barbara, USA  相似文献

Support vector machines (SVMs) have attracted much attention in theoretical and in applied statistics. The main topics of recent interest are consistency, learning rates and robustness. We address the open problem whether SVMs are qualitatively robust. Our results show that SVMs are qualitatively robust for any fixed regularization parameter λ. However, under extremely mild conditions on the SVM, it turns out that SVMs are not qualitatively robust any more for any null sequence λn, which are the classical sequences needed to obtain universal consistency. This lack of qualitative robustness is of a rather theoretical nature because we show that, in any case, SVMs fulfill a finite sample qualitative robustness property. For a fixed regularization parameter, SVMs can be represented by a functional on the set of all probability measures. Qualitative robustness is proven by showing that this functional is continuous with respect to the topology generated by weak convergence of probability measures. Combined with the existence and uniqueness of SVMs, our results show that SVMs are the solutions of a well-posed mathematical problem in Hadamard’s sense.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider (mid-)rank based inferences for testing hypotheses in a fully nonparametric marginal model for heteroscedastic functional data that contain a large number of within subject measurements from possibly only a limited number of subjects. The effects of several crossed factors and their interactions with time are considered. The results are obtained by establishing asymptotic equivalence between the rank statistics and their asymptotic rank transforms. The inference holds under the assumption ofα-mixing without moment assumptions. As a result, the proposed tests are applicable to data from heavy-tailed or skewed distributions, including both continuous and ordered categorical responses. Simulation results and a real application confirm that the (mid-)rank procedures provide both robustness and increased power over the methods based on original observations for non-normally distributed data.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive the Berry-Esseen bounds of the wavelet estimator for a nonparametric regression model with linear process errors generated by φ-mixing sequences. As application, by the suitable choice of some constants, the convergence rate O(n−1/6) of uniformly asymptotic normality of the wavelet estimator is obtained. Our results generalize some known results in the literature.  相似文献

The mean correcting martingale measure for the stochastic process defined as the exponential of an additive process is constructed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of mean correcting martingale are also obtained. The investigation of this paper will establish a unified way that is applicable both to the case of L′e vy processes and that of the sums of independent random variables. As an application, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions that the discounted stock price process is a martingale.  相似文献

Diagnostic checking for multivariate parametric models is investigated in this article. A nonparametric Monte Carlo Test (NMCT) procedure is proposed. This Monte Carlo approximation is easy to implement and can automatically make any test procedure scale-invariant even when the test statistic is not scale-invariant. With it we do not need plug-in estimation of the asymptotic covariance matrix that is used to normalize test statistic and then the power performance can be enhanced. The consistency of NMCT approximation is proved. For comparison, we also extend the score type test to one-dimensional cases. NMCT can also be applied to diverse problems such as a classical problem for which we test whether or not certain covariables in linear model has significant impact for response. Although the Wilks lambda, a likelihood ratio test, is a proven powerful test, NMCT outperforms it especially in non-normal cases. Simulations are carried out and an application to a real data set is illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the estimation of the error distribution in a heteroscedastic nonparametric regression model with multivariate covariates. As estimator we consider the empirical distribution function of residuals, which are obtained from multivariate local polynomial fits of the regression and variance functions, respectively. Weak convergence of the empirical residual process to a Gaussian process is proved. We also consider various applications for testing model assumptions in nonparametric multiple regression. The model tests obtained are able to detect local alternatives that converge to zero at an n−1/2-rate, independent of the covariate dimension. We consider in detail a test for additivity of the regression function.  相似文献

Summary We introduce nonparametric estimators of the autocovariance of a stationary random field. One of our estimators has the property that it is itself an autocovatiance. This feature enables the estimator to be used as the basis of simulation studies such as those which are necessary when constructing bootstrap confidence intervals for unknown parameters. Unlike estimators proposed recently by other authors, our own do not require assumptions such as isotropy or monotonicity. Indeed, like nonparametric function estimators considered more widely in the context of curve estimation, our approach demands only smoothness and tail conditions on the underlying curve or surface (here, the autocovariance), and moment and mixing conditions on the random field. We show that by imposing the condition that the estimator be a covariance function we actually reduce the numerical value of integrated squared error.  相似文献

This paper considers the nonparametric M-estimator in a nonlinear cointegration type model. The local time density argument, which was developed by Phillips and Park (1998) [6] and Wang and Phillips (2009) [9], is applied to establish the asymptotic theory for the nonparametric M-estimator. The weak consistency and the asymptotic distribution of the proposed estimator are established under mild conditions. Meanwhile, the asymptotic distribution of the local least squares estimator and the local least absolute distance estimator can be obtained as applications of our main results. Furthermore, an iterated procedure for obtaining the nonparametric M-estimator and a cross-validation bandwidth selection method are discussed, and some numerical examples are provided to show that the proposed methods perform well in the finite sample case.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate jump-diffusion processes in random environments which are given as the weak solutions of SDEs. We formulate conditions ensuring existence and uniqueness in law of solutions. We investigate the Markov property. To prove uniqueness we solve a general martingale problem for càdlàg processes. This result is of independent interest. Application of our results to generalized exponential Lévy model are present in the last section.  相似文献

We consider the problem of setting bootstrap confidence regions for multivariate parameters based on data depth functions. We prove, under mild regularity conditions, that depth-based bootstrap confidence regions are second-order accurate in the sense that their coverage error is of order n−1, given a random sample of size n. The results hold in general for depth functions of types A and D, which cover as special cases the Tukey depth, the majority depth, and the simplicial depth. A simulation study is also provided to investigate empirically the bootstrap confidence regions constructed using these three depth functions.  相似文献

Summary A sufficient condition for the limit of a martingale transform to posses a continuous distribution is given. The result is used to show that for a stochastic approximation procedure, if the adjustment rate is too small then it would not converge to the target value a.s. Furthermore, if the adjustment rate is taken to be 1/n as usual but the derivative of the regression function at the target value is 0, then the convergence rate is shown to be logn instead of , the rate obtained when the derivative is non-zero.Research supported by the National Science Council, R.O.C.  相似文献
