In this paper we consider the anisotropic perimeter
defined on subsets E2, where the anisotropy is a (possibly non-symmetric) norm on 2 and E is the exterior unit normal vector to E.We consider quasi-minimal sets E (which include sets with prescribed curvature) and we prove that E(E) is locally a bi-Lipschitz curve and the singular set (E) is closed and discrete.We then classify the global P-minimal sets. In particular we find that global minimal sets may have a singular point if and only if {1} is a triangle or a quadrilateral and that sets with two singularities exist if and only if {1} is a triangle.We finally show that the boundary of a subset of 2, which locally minimizes the anisotropic perimeter, plus a volume term (prescribed constant curvature) is contained, up to a translation and a rescaling, in the boundary of the Wulff shape determined by the anisotropy. In Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD)/Data Mining literature, interestingness measures are used to rank rules according to the interest a particular rule is expected to evoke. In this paper, we introduce an aspect of subjective interestingness called item-relatedness. Relatedness is a consequence of relationships that exist between items in a domain. Association rules containing unrelated or weakly related items are interesting since the co-occurrence of such items is unexpected. Item-Relatedness helps in ranking association rules on the basis of one kind of subjective unexpectedness. We identify three types of item-relatedness – captured in the structure of a fuzzy taxonomy (an extension of the classical concept hierarchy tree). An item-relatedness measure for describing relatedness between two items is developed by combining these three types. Efficacy of this measure is illustrated with the help of a sample taxonomy. We discuss three mechanisms for extending this measure from a two-item set to an association rule consisting of a set of more than two items. These mechanisms utilize the relatedness of item-pairs and other aspects of an association rule, namely its structure, distribution of items and item-pairs. A spin model is a square matrix that encodes the basic data for a statistical mechanical construction of link invariants due to V.F.R. Jones. Every spin model W is contained in a canonical Bose-Mesner algebra (W). In this paper we study the distance-regular graphs whose Bose-Mesner algebra satisfies W (W). Suppose W has at least three distinct entries. We show that is 1-homogeneous and that the first and the last subconstituents of are strongly regular and distance-regular, respectively.  相似文献

A partition of the positive integers into sets A and B avoids a set S N if no two distinct elements in the same part have a sum in S. If the partition is unique, S is uniquely avoidable. For any irrational > 1, Chow and Long constructed a partition which avoids the numerators of all convergents of the continued fraction for , and conjectured that the set S which this partition avoids is uniquely avoidable. We prove that the set of numerators of convergents is uniquely avoidable if and only if the continued fraction for has infinitely many partial quotients equal to 1. Let G denote a semisimple group, a discrete subgroup, B=G/P the Poisson boundary. Regarding invariants of discrete subgroups we prove, in particular, the following:(1) For any -quasi-invariant measure on B, and any probablity measure on , the norm of the operator () on L 2(B,) is equal to (), where is the unitary representation in L 2(X,), and is the regular representation of .(2) In particular this estimate holds when is Lebesgue measure on B, a Patterson–Sullivan measure, or a -stationary measure, and implies explicit lower bounds for the displacement and Margulis number of (w.r.t. a finite generating set), the dimension of the conformal density, the -entropy of the measure, and Lyapunov exponents of .(3) In particular, when G=PSL2() and is free, the new lower bound of the displacement is somewhat smaller than the Culler–Shalen bound (which requires an additional assumption) and is greater than the standard ball-packing bound.We also prove that ()=G() for any amenable action of G and L 1(G), and conversely, give a spectral criterion for amenability of an action of G under certain natural dynamical conditions. In addition, we establish a uniform lower bound for the -entropy of any measure quasi-invariant under the action of a group with property T, and use this fact to construct an interesting class of actions of such groups, related to 'virtual' maximal parabolic subgroups. Summary We consider the equation u+ expu=0, >0,u(boundary)0 in the formv= exp (K,v), whereK –1=–. We give bounds on for the latter equation to be solvable by the contraction mapping principle, and estimate theL 2 norm of the solution so obtained. We also give a bound on for the topological index of the solution to be non-zero and apply Krasnoselskii's results to the least squares method of approximating the solution.

Two discrete modular lattice and have isomorphic graphs if and only if is of the form A × and is of the form A × for some lattices A and and . We prove that for discrete semimodular lattices and this latter condition holds if and only if and have isomorphic graphs and the isomorphism preserves the order on all cover-preserving sublattices of which are isomorphic to the seven-element, semimodular, nonmodular lattice (see Figure 1). In this paper the well known wheat trading problem is generalized to allow for general non-linear holding cost functions. A forward algorithm in the spirit of the Modigliani-Hohn and Arrow-Karlin algorithms is given. Furthermore the conditions for the existence of weak decision and forecast horizons are relaxed.
