We generalize the standard vehicle routing problem with time windows by allowing both traveling times and traveling costs to be time-dependent functions. In our algorithm, we use a local search to determine routes of the vehicles. When we evaluate a neighborhood solution, we must compute an optimal time schedule for each route. We show that this subproblem can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming, which is incorporated in the local search algorithm. The neighborhood of our local search consists of slight modifications of the standard neighborhoods called 2- opt*, cross exchange and Or-opt. We propose an algorithm that evaluates solutions in these neighborhoods more efficiently than the ones computing the dynamic programming from scratch by utilizing the information from the past dynamic programming recursion used to evaluate the current solution. We further propose a filtering method that restricts the search space in the neighborhoods to avoid many solutions having no prospect of improvement. We then develop an iterated local search algorithm that incorporates all the above ingredients. Finally we report computational results of our iterated local search algorithm compared against existing methods, and confirm the effectiveness of the restriction of the neighborhoods and the benefits of the proposed generalization.  相似文献

We examine neighborhood structures for heuristic search applicable to a general class of vehicle routing problems (VRPs). Our methodology utilizes a cyclic-order solution encoding, which maps a permutation of the customer set to a collection of many possible VRP solutions. We identify the best VRP solution in this collection via a polynomial-time algorithm from the literature. We design neighborhoods to search the space of cyclic orders. Utilizing a simulated annealing framework, we demonstrate the potential of cyclic-order neighborhoods to facilitate the discovery of high quality a priori solutions for the vehicle routing problem with stochastic demand (VRPSD). Without tailoring our solution procedure to this specific routing problem, we are able to match 16 of 19 known optimal VRPSD solutions. We also propose an updating procedure to evaluate the neighbors of a current solution and demonstrate its ability to reduce the computational expense of our approach.  相似文献

This paper presents a parallel tabu search algorithm that utilizes several different neighborhood structures for solving the capacitated vehicle routing problem. Single neighborhood or neighborhood combinations are encapsulated in tabu search threads and they cooperate through a solution pool for the purpose of exploiting their joint power. The computational experiments on 32 large scale benchmark instances show that the proposed method is highly effective and competitive, providing new best solutions to four instances while the average deviation of all best solutions found from the collective best results reported in the literature is about 0.22%. We are also able to associate the beneficial use of special neighborhoods with some test instance characteristics and uncover some sources of the collective power of multi-neighborhood cooperation.  相似文献

This paper presents operators searching large neighborhoods in order to solve the vehicle routing problem. They make use of the pruning and propagation techniques of constraint programming which allow an efficient search of such neighborhoods. The advantages of using a large neighborhood are not only the increased probability of finding a better solution at each iteration but also the reduction of the need to invoke specially-designed methods to avoid local minima. These operators are combined in a variable neighborhood descent in order to take advantage of the different neighborhood structures they generate.  相似文献

Local search and local search-based metaheuristics are currently the only available methods for obtaining good solutions to large vehicle routing and scheduling problems. In this paper we provide a review of both classical and modern local search neighborhoods for this class of problems. The intention of this paper is not only to give an overview but to classify and analyze the structure of different neighborhoods. The analysis is based on a formal representation of VRSP solutions given by a unifying giant-tour model. We describe neighborhoods implicitly by a set of transformations called moves and show how moves can be decomposed further into partial moves. The search method has to compose these partial moves into a complete move in an efficient way. The goal is to find a local best neighbor and to reach a local optimum as quickly as possible. This can be achieved by search methods, which do not scan all neighbor solutions explicitly. Our analysis shows how the properties of the partial moves and the constraints of the VRSP influences the choice of an appropriate search technique.  相似文献

We develop a series of theorems about the graph structure of the classical Minimum Linear Arrangement (MinLA) problem which disclose properties that can be exploited by Multi-Neighborhood Search (MNS) algorithms. As a foundation, we differentiate between swaps of labels attached to adjacent and non-adjacent nodes to create two new neighborhood classes, and show how our theorems yield efficient algorithms for updating key arrays used by local search procedures. In addition, we introduce a class of neighborhoods called set-based neighborhoods supported by a theorem that identifies solutions (labelings) for the MinLA problem in polynomial time that dominate exponential numbers of alternative solutions. The component neighborhoods within this new neighborhood class can be applied in various sequences in conjunction with the first two new neighborhoods introduced. Our results also apply to problems with objectives different than those of MinLA. Finally, our results make it possible to exploit the new neighborhoods according to the user's choice of MNS protocols and alternative local search algorithms.  相似文献

We introduce a heuristic for the Multi-Resource Generalized Assignment Problem (MRGAP) based on the concepts of Very Large-Scale Neighborhood Search and Variable Neighborhood Search. The heuristic is a simplified version of the Very Large-Scale Variable Neighborhood Search for the Generalized Assignment Problem. Our algorithm can be viewed as a k-exchange heuristic; but unlike traditional k-exchange algorithms, we choose larger values of k resulting in neighborhoods of very large size with high probability. Searching this large neighborhood (approximately) amounts to solving a sequence of smaller MRGAPs either by exact algorithms or by heuristics. Computational results on benchmark test problems are presented. We obtained improved solutions for many instances compared to some of the best known heuristics for the MRGAP within reasonable running time. The central idea of our heuristic can be used to develop efficient heuristics for other hard combinatorial optimization problems as well.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new hybrid algorithmic nature inspired approach based on particle swarm optimization, for solving successfully one of the most popular logistics management problems, the location routing problem (LRP). The proposed algorithm for the solution of the location routing problem, the hybrid particle swarm optimization (HybPSO-LRP), combines a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, the multiple phase neighborhood search – greedy randomized adaptive search procedure (MPNS-GRASP) algorithm, the expanding neighborhood search (ENS) strategy and a path relinking (PR) strategy. The algorithm is tested on a set of benchmark instances. The results of the algorithm are very satisfactory for these instances and for six of them a new best solution has been found.   相似文献

We present a variable neighborhood search approach for solving the one-commodity pickup-and-delivery travelling salesman problem. It is characterized by a set of customers such that each of the customers either supplies (pickup customers) or demands (delivery customers) a given amount of a single product, and by a vehicle, whose given capacity must not be exceeded, that starts at the depot and must visit each customer only once. The objective is to minimize the total length of the tour. Thus, the considered problem includes checking the existence of a feasible travelling salesman’s tour and designing the optimal travelling salesman’s tour, which are both NP-hard problems. We adapt a collection of neighborhood structures, k-opt, double-bridge and insertion operators mainly used for solving the classical travelling salesman problem. A binary indexed tree data structure is used, which enables efficient feasibility checking and updating of solutions in these neighborhoods. Our extensive computational analysis shows that the proposed variable neighborhood search based heuristics outperforms the best-known algorithms in terms of both the solution quality and computational efforts. Moreover, we improve the best-known solutions of all benchmark instances from the literature (with 200 to 500 customers). We are also able to solve instances with up to 1000 customers.  相似文献

Vehicle routing variants with multiple depots and mixed fleet present intricate combinatorial aspects related to sequencing choices, vehicle type choices, depot choices, and depots positioning. This paper introduces a dynamic programming methodology for efficiently evaluating compound neighborhoods combining sequence-based moves with an optimal choice of vehicle and depot, and an optimal determination of the first customer to be visited in the route, called rotation. The assignment choices, making the richness of the problem, are thus no more addressed in the solution structure, but implicitly determined during each move evaluation. Two meta-heuristics relying on these concepts, an iterated local search and a hybrid genetic algorithm, are presented. Extensive computational experiments demonstrate the remarkable performance of these methods on classic benchmark instances for multi-depot vehicle routing problems with and without fleet mix, as well as the notable contribution of the implicit depot choice and positioning methods to the search performance. New state-of-the-art results are obtained for multi-depot vehicle routing problems (MDVRP), and multi-depot vehicle fleet mix problems (MDVFMP) with unconstrained fleet size. The proposed concepts are fairly general, and widely applicable to many other vehicle routing variants.  相似文献

本文在经典的带时间窗的车辆路径问题(VRPTW)的基础上,考虑不同时间段车辆行驶速度不同的情况,研究速度时变的带时间窗车辆路径问题(TDVRPTW),使问题更具实际意义。本文用分段函数表示不同时间段下的车辆行驶速度,并解决了速度时变条件下行驶时间计算的问题。针对模拟退火算法(SA)在求解VRPTW问题时易陷入局部最优解,变邻域搜索算法(VNS)在求解VRPTW问题时收敛速度慢的问题,本文将模拟退火算法以一定概率接受非最优解的思想和变邻域搜索算法系统地改变当前解的邻域结构以拓展搜索范围的思想结合起来,提出了一种改进的算法——变邻域模拟退火算法(SAVN),使算法在退火过程中一陷入局部最优解就改变邻域结构,更换搜索范围,以此提升算法跳出局部最优解的能力,加快收敛速度。通过在仿真实验中将SAVN算法的求解结果与VNS算法、SA算法进行对比,验证了SAVN算法确实能显著提升算法跳出局部最优解的能力。  相似文献

For problems SAT and MAX SAT, local search algorithms are widely acknowledged as one of the most effective approaches. Most of the local search algorithms are based on the 1-flip neighborhood, which is the set of solutions obtainable by flipping the truth assignment of one variable. In this paper, we consider r-flip neighborhoods for r = 2, 3, and examine their effectiveness by computational experiments. In the accompanying paper, we proposed new implementations of these neighborhoods, and showed that the expected size of 2-flip neighborhood is O(n + m) and that of 3-flip neighborhood is O(m + t 2 n), compared to their original size O(n 2) andO(n 3), respectively, where n is the number of variables, m is the number of clauses and t is the maximum number of appearances of one variable. These are used in this paper under the framework of tabu search and other metaheuristic methods, and compared with other existing algorithms with 1-flip neighborhood. The results exhibit good prospects of larger neighborhoods.  相似文献

In this article we investigate a new variant of Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS): Relaxation Guided Variable Neighborhood Search. It is based on the general VNS scheme and a new Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND) algorithm. The ordering of the neighborhood structures in this VND is determined dynamically by solving relaxations of them. The objective values of these relaxations are used as indicators for the potential gains of searching the corresponding neighborhoods. We tested this new approach on the well-studied multidimensional knapsack problem. Computational experiments show that our approach is beneficial to the search, improving the obtained results. The concept is, in principle, more generally applicable and seems to be promising for many other combinatorial optimization problems approached by VNS. We propose an iterated local search algorithm for the vehicle routing problem with time window constraints. We treat the time window constraint for each customer as a penalty function, and assume that it is convex and piecewise linear. Given an order of customers each vehicle to visit, dynamic programming (DP) is used to determine the optimal start time to serve the customers so that the total time penalty is minimized. This DP algorithm is then incorporated in the iterated local search algorithm to efficiently evaluate solutions in various neighborhoods. The amortized time complexity of evaluating a solution in the neighborhoods is a logarithmic order of the input size (i.e., the total number of linear pieces that define the penalty functions). Computational comparisons on benchmark instances with up to 1000 customers show that the proposed method is quite effective, especially for large instances.  相似文献

This paper presents a solution methodology for the heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem with time windows. The objective is to minimize the total distribution costs, or similarly to determine the optimal fleet size and mix that minimizes both the total distance travelled by vehicles and the fixed vehicle costs, such that all problem’s constraints are satisfied. The problem is solved using a two-phase solution framework based upon a hybridized Tabu Search, within a new Reactive Variable Neighborhood Search metaheuristic algorithm. Computational experiments on benchmark data sets yield high quality solutions, illustrating the effectiveness of the approach and its applicability to realistic routing problems. 本文给出了一种离散的人工蜂群算法(HDABC)用于求解混合流水车间调度(HFS)问题。采用工件排序的编码方式,并设计了四种邻域结构。雇佣蜂依次分派到解集中每个解,采用结合问题特征的局部搜索策略完成挖掘搜索工作。跟随蜂随机选择两个解并挑选较优者作为当前解,完成进一步的探优过程。侦察蜂采用三种策略跳出局部极小。通过34个同构并行机HFS问题和2个异构并行机HFS实际调度问题的实验,并与当前文献中的典型算法对比,验证了本文提出的算法无论在算法时间还是在求解质量上,都具备良好的性能。  相似文献

The vehicle routing problem (VRP) under capacity and distance restrictions involves the design of a set of minimum cost delivery routes, originating and terminating at a central depot, which services a set of customers. Each customer must be supplied exactly once by one vehicle route. The total demand of any vehicle must not exceed the vehicle capacity. The total length of any route must not exceed a pre-specified bound. Approximate methods based on descent, hybrid simulated annealing/tabu search, and tabu search algorithms are developed and different search strategies are investigated. A special data structure for the tabu search algorithm is implemented which has reduced notably the computational time by more than 50%. An estimate for the tabu list size is statistically derived. Computational results are reported on a sample of seventeen bench-mark test problems from the literature and nine randomly generated problems. The new methods improve significantly both the number of vehicles used and the total distances travelled on all results reported in the literature.  相似文献

The capacitated minimum spanning tree (CMST) problem is to find a minimum cost spanning tree in a network where nodes have specified demands, with an additional capacity constraints on the subtrees incident to a given source node s. The capacitated minimum spanning tree problem arises as an important subproblem in many telecommunication network design problems. In a recent paper, Ahuja et al. (Math. Program. 91 (2001) 71) proposed two very large-scale neighborhood search algorithms for the capacitated minimum spanning tree problem. Their first node-based neighborhood structure is obtained by performing multi-exchanges involving several trees where each tree contributes a single node. Their second tree-based neighborhood structure is obtained by performing multi-exchanges where each tree contributes a subtree. The computational investigations found that node-based multi-exchange neighborhood gives the best performance for the homogenous demand case (when all nodes have the same demand), and the tree-based multi-exchange neighborhood gives the best performance for the heterogeneous demand case (when nodes may have different demands). In this paper, we propose a composite neighborhood structure that subsumes both the node-based and tree-based neighborhoods, and outperforms both the previous neighborhood search algorithms for solving the capacitated minimum spanning tree problem on standard benchmark instances. We also develop improved dynamic programming based exact algorithms for searching the composite neighborhood.  相似文献

The heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem is investigated using some adaptations of the variable neighborhood search (VNS). The initial solution is obtained by Dijkstra’s algorithm based on a cost network constructed by the sweep algorithm and the 2-opt. Our VNS algorithm uses several neighborhoods which are adapted for this problem. In addition, a number of local search methods together with a diversification procedure are used. Two VNS variants, which differ in the order the diversification and Dijkstra’s algorithm are used, are implemented. Both variants appear to be competitive and produce new best results when tested on the data sets from the literature. We also constructed larger data sets for which benchmarking results are provided for future comparison.  相似文献

Indexing methods for the approximate string matching problem spend a considerable effort generating condensed neighborhoods. Condensed neighborhoods, however, are not a minimal representation of a pattern neighborhood. Super condensed neighborhoods, proposed in this work, are smaller, provably minimal and can be used to locate approximate matches that can later be extended by on-line search. We present an algorithm for generating Super Condensed Neighborhoods. The algorithm can be implemented either by using dynamic programming or non-deterministic automata. The time complexity is O(ms) for the first case and O(kms) for the second, where m is the pattern size, s is the size of the super condensed neighborhood and k the number of errors. Previous algorithms depended on the size of the condensed neighborhood instead. These algorithms can be implemented using Bit-Parallelism and Increased Bit-Parallelism techniques. Our experimental results show that the resulting algorithms are fast and achieve significant speedups, when compared with the existing proposals that use condensed neighborhoods.  相似文献
