We derive left and right quotient representations for central q × q matrix-valued Carathéodory functions. Moreover, we obtain recurrent formulas for the matrix polynomials involved in the quotient representations. These formulas are the starting point for getting recurrent formulas for those matrix polynomials which occur in the Arov-Krein resolvent matrix for the nondegenerate matricial Carathéodory problem.  相似文献

In this paper we give sufficient conditions for solvability of a singular initial problem formulated for Carathéodory systems of ordinary differential equations. The existence of solutions is proved by the supposition that corresponding auxiliary lower and upper singular problems have solutions. The proof technique uses a notion of a regular polyfacial subset which is developed for Carathéodory systems of ordinary differential equations and a modification of the topological method for such systems given by Palamides, Sficas and Staikos. An application concerning the existence of positive solutions for a special class of singular problems is given as well.  相似文献

A classical result, studied, among others, by Carathéodory [C. Carathéodory, Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations of the First Order, Chelsea, New York, 1989], says that, at least generically, periodic minimizers are hyperbolic, and consequently, unstable as solutions of the associated Euler–Lagrange equation. In view of a multiple Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem, we study the rank of generalized Schwarz-Pick-Potapov block matrices of matrix-valued Carathéodory functions. Those matrices are determined by the values of a Carathéodory function and the values of its derivatives up to a certain order. We derive statements on rank invariance of such generalized Schwarz-Pick-Potapov block matrices. These results are applied to describe the case of exactly one solution for the finite multiple Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem and to discuss matrix-valued Carathéodory functions with the highest degree of degeneracy.  相似文献

We discuss three classes of closed curves in the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{3}$ which have non-vanishing curvature and at least 4 flattenings (points at which the torsion vanishes). Calling these classes (de.ned below) Barner, Segre and Carathéodory, we prove that Barner $\subset$ (Segre $\cap$ Carathéodory). We also prove that (Segre)\ (Segre $\cap$ Carathéodory) and (Carathéodory)\(Segre $\cap$ Carathéodory) are open sets in the space of closed smooth curves with the C-topology. Finally, we define a class of closed curves containing the class of Segre curves and -based on contact topology considerations, as the Huygens principle- we establish the conjecture that any curve of our class has at least 4 flattenings.  相似文献

In this paper, an existence theorem for a certain hyperbolic differential inclusions in Banach algebras is proved under the mixed Lipschitz and Carathéodory conditions. The existence of extremal solutions for Carathéodory as well as discontinuous hyperbolic differential inclusions is also proved under certain monotonicity conditions.  相似文献

The Carathéodory problem in the N-variable non-commutative Herglotz-Agler class and the Carathéodory-Fejér problem in the N-variable non-commutative Schur-Agler class are posed. We study a random Euler scheme for the approximation of Carathéodory differential equations and give a precise error analysis. In particular, we show that under weak assumptions, this approximation scheme obtains the same rate of convergence as the classical Monte–Carlo method for integration problems.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss Weyl matrix balls in the context of the matricial versions of the classical interpolation problems named after Carathéodory and Schur. Our particular focus will be on studying the monotonicity of suitably normalized semi-radii of the corresponding Weyl matrix balls. We, furthermore, devote a fair bit of attention to characterizing the case in which equality holds for particular matricial inequalities. Solving these problems will provide us with a new perspective on the role of the central functions for the classes of Carathéodory and Schur.  相似文献

In this paper we characterize sequences of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle whose corresponding Carathéodory function satisfies a Riccati differential equation with polynomial coefficients, in terms of second order matrix differential equations. Motivated by the applications to differential equations without uniqueness conditions, we separately prove multivalued versions of the celebrated Sharkovskii and Li–Yorke theorems. These are then applied, via multivalued Poincaré operators, to Carathéodory differential inclusions. Thus, besides another, infinitely many subharmonics of all integer orders can be obtained. Unlike in the single-valued case, for example, period three brings serious obstructions. Three counter-examples, related to these complications, are therefore presented as well. In this paper we study functional φ-Laplacian equations with functional boundary conditions. The non-linearity belongs to a class of completely continuous operators, which includes Carathéodory ones, while the functional boundary conditions are given by compactly-fixed operators.
