The nonnegative inverse eigenvalue problem is that given a family of complex numbers λ={λ1,…,λn}, find a nonnegative matrix of order n with spectrum λ. This problem is difficult and remains unsolved partially. In this paper, we focus on its generalization that the reconstructed nonnegative matrices should have some prescribed entries. It is easy to see that this new problem will come back to the common nonnegative inverse eigenvalue problem if there is no constraint of the locations of entries. A numerical isospectral flow method which is developed by hybridizing the optimization theory and steepest descent method is used to study the reconstruction. Moreover, an error estimate of the numerical iteration for ordinary differential equations on the matrix manifold is presented. After that, a numerical method for the nonnegative symmetric inverse eigenvalue problem with prescribed entries and its error estimate are considered. Finally, the approaches are verified by the numerical test results.  相似文献

We are concerned with the computation of eigenvalues of a periodic Sturm-Liouville problem using interpolation techniques in Paley-Wiener spaces. We shall approximate the Hill discriminant by sampling a few of its values and then find its zeroes which are the square roots of the eigenvalues. Computable error estimates are provided together with eigenvalue enclosures.

In this paper, a type of accurate a posteriori error estimator is proposed for the Steklov eigenvalue problem based on the complementary approach, which provides an asymptotic exact estimate for the approximate eigenpair. Besides, we design a type of cascadic adaptive finite element method for the Steklov eigenvalue problem based on the proposed a posteriori error estimator. In this new cascadic adaptive scheme, instead of solving the Steklov eigenvalue problem in each adaptive space directly, we only need to do some smoothing steps for linearized boundary value problems on a series of adaptive spaces and solve some Steklov eigenvalue problems on a low dimensional space. Furthermore, the proposed a posteriori error estimator provides the way to refine mesh and control the number of smoothing steps for the cascadic adaptive method. Some numerical examples are presented to validate the efficiency of the algorithm in this paper.

In this paper we analyze the stream function-vorticity-pressure method for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. Further, we obtain full order convergence rate of the eigenvalue approximations for the Stokes eigenvalue problem based on asymptotic error expansions for two nonconforming finite elements, Q 1rot and EQ 1rot. Using the technique of eigenvalue error expansion, the technique of integral identities and the extrapolation method, we can improve the accuracy of the eigenvalue approximations. An implicit a posteriori error estimation technique is presented and analyzed for the numerical solution of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations using Nédélec edge elements. For this purpose we define a weak formulation for the error on each element and provide an efficient and accurate numerical solution technique to solve the error equations locally. We investigate the well-posedness of the error equations and also consider the related eigenvalue problem for cubic elements. Numerical results for both smooth and non-smooth problems, including a problem with reentrant corners, show that an accurate prediction is obtained for the local error, and in particular the error distribution, which provides essential information to control an adaptation process. The error estimation technique is also compared with existing methods and provides significantly sharper estimates for a number of reported test cases.

We develop a new approach to a posteriori error estimation for Galerkin finite element approximations of symmetric and nonsymmetric elliptic eigenvalue problems. The idea is to embed the eigenvalue approximation into the general framework of Galerkin methods for nonlinear variational equations. In this context residual-based a posteriori error representations are available with explicitly given remainder terms. The careful evaluation of these error representations for the concrete situation of an eigenvalue problem results in a posteriori error estimates for the approximations of eigenvalues as well as eigenfunctions. These suggest local error indicators that are used in the mesh refinement process.  相似文献

Summary Approximate solutions of the linear integral equation eigenvalue problem can be obtained by the replacement of the integral by a numerical quadrature formula and then collocation to obtain a linear algebraic eigenvalue problem. This method is often called the Nyström method and its convergence was discussed in [7]. In this paper computable error bounds and dominant error terms are derived for the approximation of simple eigenvalues of nonsymmetric kernels.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a new local and parallel finite element discrete scheme based on the shifted‐inverse power method for solving the biharmonic eigenvalue problem of plate vibration. We prove the local error estimation of finite element solution for the biharmonic equation/eigenvalue problem and prove the error estimation of approximate solution obtained by the local and parallel scheme. When the diameters of three grids satisfy H4 = ?(w2) = ?(h), the approximate solutions obtained by our schemes can achieve the asymptotically optimal accuracy. The numerical experiments show that the computational schemes proposed in this paper are effective to solve the biharmonic eigenvalue problem of plate vibration.  相似文献

In this paper we study the residual type a posteriori error estimates for general elliptic (not necessarily symmetric) eigenvalue problems. We present estimates for approximations of semisimple eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors. In particular, we obtain the following new results: 1) An error representation formula which we use to reduce the analysis of the eigenvalue problem to the analysis of the associated source problem; 2) A local lower bound for the error of an approximate finite element eigenfunction in a neighborhood of a given mesh element T.  相似文献
