Let R be a commutative Noetherian local ring with residue class field k. In this paper, we mainly investigate direct summands of the syzygy modules of k. We prove that R is regular if and only if some syzygy module of k has a semidualizing summand. After that, we consider whether R is Gorenstein if and only if some syzygy module of k has a G-projective summand.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to develop constructive versions of Stafford’s theorems on the module structure of Weyl algebras A n (k) (i.e., the rings of partial differential operators with polynomial coefficients) over a base field k of characteristic zero. More generally, based on results of Stafford and Coutinho-Holland, we develop constructive versions of Stafford’s theorems for very simple domains D. The algorithmization is based on the fact that certain inhomogeneous quadratic equations admit solutions in a very simple domain. We show how to explicitly compute a unimodular element of a finitely generated left D-module of rank at least two. This result is used to constructively decompose any finitely generated left D-module into a direct sum of a free left D-module and a left D-module of rank at most one. If the latter is torsion-free, then we explicitly show that it is isomorphic to a left ideal of D which can be generated by two elements. Then, we give an algorithm which reduces the number of generators of a finitely presented left D-module with module of relations of rank at least two. In particular, any finitely generated torsion left D-module can be generated by two elements and is the homomorphic image of a projective ideal whose construction is explicitly given. Moreover, a non-torsion but non-free left D-module of rank r can be generated by r+1 elements but no fewer. These results are implemented in the Stafford package for D=A n (k) and their system-theoretical interpretations are given within a D-module approach. Finally, we prove that the above results also hold for the ring of ordinary differential operators with either formal power series or locally convergent power series coefficients and, using a result of Caro-Levcovitz, also for the ring of partial differential operators with coefficients in the field of fractions of the ring of formal power series or of the ring of locally convergent power series.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of algorithmically constructing the left syzygy module for a finite system of elements in an automaton monomial algebra. The class of automaton monomial algebras includes free associative algebras and finitely presented algebras. In such algebras the left syzygy module for a finite system of elements is finitely generated. In general, the left syzygy module in an automaton monomial algebra is not finitely generated. Nevertheless, the generators of the left syzygy module have a recursive specification with the help of regular sets. This allows one to solve many algorithmic problems in automaton monomial algebras. For example, one can solve linear equations, recognize the membership in a left ideal, and recognize zero-divisors. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 11, No. 2, pp. 101–113, 2005.  相似文献

We analyze k-stage formality and relate resonance with this type of formality properties. For instance, we show that, for a finitely generated nilpotent group that is k-stage formal, the resonance varieties are trivial up to degree k. We also show that the cohomology ring, truncated up to degree k+1, of a finitely generated nilpotent, k-stage formal group is generated in degree 1; this criterion is necessary and sufficient for a finitely generated, 2-step nilpotent group to be k-stage formal. We compute resonance varieties for Heisenberg-type groups and deduce the degree of partial formality for this class of groups.  相似文献

This paper aims at generalizing the notions of “Auslander dual”, “k-torsionless” and “k-th syzygy” modules to the relative setting with respect to a semidualizing module. It is shown that the “relative” Auslander dual shares many nice properties with the Auslander dual originally introduced by Auslander and Bridger. It is also shown the interplay between the “relative” version of “k-torsionless” and “k-th syzygy” modules parallels that of k-torsionless and k-th syzygy modules.  相似文献

This paper develops a duality theory for connected cochain DG algebras, with particular emphasis on the non-commutative aspects. One of the main items is a dualizing DG module which induces a duality between the derived categories of DG left-modules and DG right-modules with finitely generated cohomology. As an application,it is proved that if the canonical module k=A/A≥1 has a semi-free resolution where the cohomological degree of the generators is bounded above, then the same is true for each DG module with finitely generated cohomology.  相似文献

We construct rank varieties for the Drinfeld double of the Taft algebra Λn and for uq(sl2). For the Drinfeld double when n=2 this uses a result which identifies a family of subalgebras that control projectivity of Λ-modules whenever Λ is a Hopf algebra satisfying a certain homological condition. In this case we show that our rank variety is homeomorphic to the cohomological support variety. We also show that Ext(M,M) is finitely generated over the cohomology ring of the Drinfeld double for any finitely generated module M.  相似文献

In this article we give a bound on the number of generators of a finitely generated projective module of constant rank over a commutative Noetherian ring in terms of the rank of the module and the dimension of the ring. Under certain conditions we provide an improvement to the Forster–Swan bound in case of finitely generated projective modules of rank n over an affine algebra over a finite field or an algebraically closed field.  相似文献

We show that every essentially small finitely semisimple k-linear additive spherical category for which k=End(1) is a field, is equivalent to its dual over the long canonical forgetful functor. This includes the special case of modular categories. In order to prove this result, we show that the universal coend of the spherical category, with respect to the long forgetful functor, is self-dual as a Weak Hopf Algebra.  相似文献

We provide a class of commutative Noetherian domains R of dimension d such that every finitely generated projective R-module P of rank d splits off a free summand of rank one. On this class, we also show that P is cancellative. At the end we give some applications to the number of generators of a module over the Rees algebras.  相似文献

Let R be a Cohen–Macaulay ring. A quasi-Gorenstein R-module is an R-module such that the grade of the module and the projective dimension of the module are equal and the canonical module of the module is isomorphic to the module itself. After discussing properties of finitely generated quasi-Gorenstein modules, it is shown that this definition allows for a characterization of diagonal matrices of maximal rank over a Cohen–Macaulay factorial domain R extending a theorem of Frobenius and Stickelberger to modules of projective dimension 1 over a commutative factorial Cohen–Macaulay domain.  相似文献

Following our previous work about quasi-projective dimension [11], in this paper, we introduce quasi-injective dimension as a generalization of injective dimension. We recover several well-known results about injective and Gorenstein-injective dimensions in the context of quasi-injective dimension such as the following. (a) If the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module M over a local ring R is finite, then it is equal to the depth of R. (b) If there exists a finitely generated module of finite quasi-injective dimension and maximal Krull dimension, then R is Cohen-Macaulay. (c) If there exists a nonzero finitely generated module with finite projective dimension and finite quasi-injective dimension, then R is Gorenstein. (d) Over a Gorenstein local ring, the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module is finite if and only if its quasi-projective dimension is finite.  相似文献

The Koszul-like property for any finitely generated graded modules over a Koszul-like algebra is investigated and the notion of weakly Koszul-like module is introduced. We show that a finitely generated graded module M is a weakly Koszul-like module if and only if it can be approximated by Koszul-like graded submodules, which is equivalent to the fact that G(M) is a Koszul-like module, where G(M) denotes the associated graded module of M. As applications, the relationships between minimal graded projective resolutions of M and G(M), and Koszul-like submodules are established. Moreover, the Koszul dual of a weakly Koszul-like module is proved to be generated in degree 0 as a graded E(A)-module.  相似文献

Let M be a finitely generated torsion-free module over a one-dimensional reduced Noetherian ring R with finitely generated normalization. The rank of M is the tuple of vector-space dimensions of MP over each field RP (R localized at P), where P ranges over the minimal prime ideals of R. We assume that there exists a bound NR on the ranks of all indecomposable finitely generated torsion-free R-modules. For such rings, what bounds and ranks occur? Partial answers to this question have been given by a plethora of authors over the past forty years. In this article we provide a final answer by giving a concise list of the ranks of indecomposable modules for R a local ring with no condition on the characteristic. We conclude that if the rank of an indecomposable module M is (r,r,…,r), then r∈{1,2,3,4,6}, even when R is not local.  相似文献

Given a polynomial ring R over a field k and a finite group G, we consider a finitely generated graded RG-module S. We regard S as a kG-module and show that various conditions on S are equivalent, such as only containing finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable summands or satisfying a structure theorem in the sense of [D. Karagueuzian, P. Symonds, The module structure of a group action on a polynomial ring: A finiteness theorem, preprint, http://www.ma.umist.ac.uk/pas/preprints].  相似文献

We investigate a class of (imprimitive) covering graphs Γ of complete bipartite graphs Kk,k and show that they are in one-to-one correspondence with triples (P, l, P), where P is a projective plane of order k and (l, P) is a distinguished flag of P. If Γ is distance-transitive, then P ? l is a self-dual rank three translation plane and may be coordinatised by a semifield.  相似文献

The author and Nakano recently proved that multiplicities in a Specht filtration of a symmetric group module are well-defined precisely when the characteristic is at least five. This result suggested the possibility of a symmetric group theory analogous to that of good filtrations and tilting modules for GL n (k). This article is an initial attempt at such a theory. We obtain two sufficient conditions that ensure a module has a Specht filtration, and a formula for the filtration multiplicities. We then study the categories of modules that satisfy the conditions, in the process obtaining a new result on Specht module cohomology.

Next we consider symmetric group modules that have both Specht and dual Specht filtrations. Unlike tilting modules for GL n (k), these modules need not be self-dual, and there is no nice tensor product theorem. We prove a correspondence between indecomposable self-dual modules with Specht filtrations and a collection of GL n (k)-modules which behave like tilting modules under the tilting functor. We give some evidence that indecomposable self-dual symmetric group modules with Specht filtrations may be indecomposable self dual trivial source modules.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative noetherian ring of Krull dimension 3. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for A-projective modules of rank 2 to be free. Using this, we show that all the finitely generated projective modules over the algebraic real 3-sphere are free.  相似文献

We study algebraically and verbally closed subgroups and retracts of finitely generated nilpotent groups. A special attention is paid to free nilpotent groups and the groups UT n (Z) of unitriangular (n×n)-matrices over the ring Z of integers for arbitrary n. We observe that the sets of retracts of finitely generated nilpotent groups coincides with the sets of their algebraically closed subgroups. We give an example showing that a verbally closed subgroup in a finitely generated nilpotent group may fail to be a retract (in the case under consideration, equivalently, fail to be an algebraically closed subgroup). Another example shows that the intersection of retracts (algebraically closed subgroups) in a free nilpotent group may fail to be a retract (an algebraically closed subgroup) in this group. We establish necessary conditions fulfilled on retracts of arbitrary finitely generated nilpotent groups. We obtain sufficient conditions for the property of being a retract in a finitely generated nilpotent group. An algorithm is presented determining the property of being a retract for a subgroup in free nilpotent group of finite rank (a solution of a problem of Myasnikov). We also obtain a general result on existentially closed subgroups in finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent with cyclic center, which in particular implies that for each n the group UT n (Z) has no proper existentially closed subgroups.  相似文献
