In this paper we investigate the properties of eigenvalues of some boundary-value problems generated by second-order Sturm-Liouville equation with distributional potentials and suitable boundary conditions. Moreover, we share a necessary condition for the problem to have an infinitely many eigenvalues. Finally, we introduce some ordinary and Frechet derivatives of the eigenvalues with respect to some elements of the data.  相似文献

In this paper, we mainly focus on new inclusion sets for eigenvalues of a tensor. First, we propose new inclusion sets for eigenvalues of a tensor, which are sharper than some existing inclusion sets, and obtain the law of distribution of the number of eigenvalues for a tensor. Second, two new classes of tensors are introduced. Third, some bounds on the spectral radii for nonnegative tensors are given. Fourth, some checkable sufficient conditions for the positive definiteness (positive semidefiniteness) of some classes of even-order real symmetric tensors are obtained.  相似文献

We introduce four types of special eigenvalues which lie on the boundary of certain inclusion regions for the spectrum of a complex square matrix, i.e. , R_r(G_c)-,O(a)-,B_r(B_c)-. and OB(a)- eigenvalues. Then we characterize these eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenvectors for irreducible matrices, Finally we give some new sufficient conditions for an irreducible complex matrix to be nonsingular.  相似文献

This paper is a survey on classical results and open questions about minimization problems concerning the lower eigenvalues of the Laplace operator. After recalling classical isoperimetric inequalities for the two first eigenvalues, we present recent advances on this topic. In particular, we study the minimization of the second eigenvalue among plane convex domains. We also discuss the minimization of the third eigenvalue. We prove existence of a minimizer. For others eigenvalues, we just give some conjectures. In this article, we consider a discrete right-definite Sturm-Liouville problems with two squared eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions. By constructing some new Lagrange-type identities and two fundamental functions, we obtain not only the existence,the simplicity, and the interlacing properties of the real eigenvalues, but also the oscillation properties, orthogonality of the eigenfunctions, and the expansion theorem. Finally, we also give a computation scheme for computing eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of specific eigenvalue problems.  相似文献

In this paper we construct the symmetric quasi anti-bidiagonal matrix that its eigenvalues are given, and show that the problem is also equivalent to the inverse eigenvalue problem for a certain symmetric tridiagonal matrix which has the same eigenvalues. Not only elements of the tridiagonal matrix come from quasi anti-bidiagonal matrix, but also the places of elements exchange based on some conditions.  相似文献

We study average case tractability of non-homogeneous tensor product problems with the absolute error criterion. We consider algorithms that use finitely many evaluations of arbitrary linear functionals. For general non-homogeneous tensor product problems, we obtain the matching necessary and sufficient conditions for strong polynomial tractability in terms of the one-dimensional eigenvalues. We give some examples to show that strong polynomial tractability is not equivalent to polynomial tractability, and polynomial tractability is not equivalent to quasi-polynomial tractability. But for non-homogeneous tensor product problems with decreasing eigenvalues, we prove that strong polynomial tractability is always equivalent to polynomial tractability, and strong polynomial tractability is even equivalent to quasi-polynomial tractability when the one-dimensional largest eigenvalues are less than one. In particular, we find an example that quasi-polynomial tractability with the absolute error criterion is not equivalent to that with the normalized error criterion even if all the one-dimensional largest eigenvalues are one. Finally we consider a special class of non-homogeneous tensor product problems with improved monotonicity condition of the eigenvalues.  相似文献

When finite difference and finite element methods are used to approximate continuous (differential) eigenvalue problems, the resulting algebraic eigenvalues only yield accurate estimates for the fundamental and first few harmonics. One way around this difficulty would be to estimate the error between the differential and algebraic eigenvalues by some independent procedure and then use it to correct the algebraic eigenvalues. Such an estimate has been derived by Paine, de Hoog and Anderssen for the Liouville normal form with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We consider a spectral problem that is nonlinear in the spectral parameter for a self-adjoint vector differential equation of order 2n. The boundary conditions depend on the spectral parameter and are self-adjoint as well. Under some conditions of monotonicity of the input data with respect to the spectral parameter, we present a method for counting the eigenvalues of the problem in a given interval. If the boundary conditions are independent of the spectral parameter, then we define the notion of number of an eigenvalue and give a method for computing this number as well as the set of numbers of all eigenvalues in a given interval. For an equation considered on an unbounded interval, under some additional assumptions, we present a method for approximating the original singular problem by a problem on a finite interval.  相似文献

This article presents an idea in the finite element methods (FEMs) for obtaining two-sided bounds of exact eigenvalues. This approach is based on the combination of nonconforming methods giving lower bounds of the eigenvalues and a postprocessing technique using conforming finite elements. Our results hold for the second and fourth-order problems defined on two-dimensional domains. First, we list analytic and experimental results concerning triangular and rectangular nonconforming elements which give at least asymptotically lower bounds of the exact eigenvalues. We present some new numerical experiments for the plate bending problem on a rectangular domain. The main result is that if we know an estimate from below by nonconforming FEM, then by using a postprocessing procedure we can obtain two-sided bounds of the first (essential) eigenvalue. For the other eigenvalues λl, l = 2, 3, …, we prove and give conditions when this method is applicable. Finally, the numerical results presented and discussed in the paper illustrate the efficiency of our method.  相似文献

Subdivision operators play an important role in wavelet analysis. This paper studies the algebraic properties of subdivision operators with matrix mask, especially their action on polynomial sequences and on some of their invariant subspaces. As an application, we characterize, under a mild condition, the approximation order provided by refinable vectors in terms of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of polynomial sequences of the associated subdivision operator. Moreover, some necessary conditions, in terms of nondegeneracy and simplicity of eigenvalues of a matrix related to the subdivision operator for the refinable vector to be smooth are given.
