In this paper we introduce the notion of module character amenable Banach algebras and show that they possess module character virtual (approximate) diagonals. As a basic example, we show that for an inverse semigroup S with the set of idempotents E, the semigroup algebra ? 1(S) is module character amenable as an ? 1(E)-module if only if S is amenable.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the pseudo-amenability of semigroup algebra ? 1(S), where S is an inverse semigroup with uniformly locally finite idempotent set. In particular, we show that for a Brandt semigroup \(S={\mathcal{M}}^{0}(G,I)\), the pseudo-amenability of ? 1(S) is equivalent to the amenability of G.  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup. In this paper we investigate the injectivity of ?1(S) as a Banach right module over ?1(S). For weakly cancellative S this is the same as studying the flatness of the predual left module c0(S). For such semigroups S, we also investigate the projectivity of c0(S). We prove that for many semigroups S for which the Banach algebra ?1(S) is non-amenable, the ?1(S)-module ?1(S) is not injective. The main result about the projectivity of c0(S) states that for a weakly cancellative inverse semigroup S, c0(S) is projective if and only if S is finite.  相似文献

In this article, the approximate amenability of semigroup algebra ?1(S) is investigated, where (S) is a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup. Indeed, we show that for a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup (S), the notions of amenability, approximate amenability and bounded approximate amenability of ?1(S) are equivalent. We use this to give a direct proof of the approximate amenability of ?1(S) for a Brandt semigroup (S). Moreover, we characterize the approximate amenability of ?1(S), where S is a uniformly locally finite band semigroup.  相似文献

A semigroup S is called a left reductive semigroup if, for all elements a,bS, the assumption “xa=xb for all xS” implies a=b. A congruence α on a semigroup S is called a left reductive congruence if the factor semigroup S/α is left reductive. In this paper we deal with the left reductive congruences on semigroups. Let S be a semigroup and ? a congruence on S. Consider the sequence ? (0)?? (1)???? (n)?? of congruences on S, where ? (0)=? and, for an arbitrary non-negative integer n, ? (n+1) is defined by (a,b)∈? (n+1) if and only if (xa,xb)∈? (n) for all xS. We show that $\bigcup_{i=0}^{\infty}\varrho^{(i)}\subseteq \mathit{lrc}(\varrho )$ for an arbitrary congruence ? on a semigroup S, where lrc(?) denotes the least left reductive congruence on S containing ?. We focuse our attention on congruences ? on semigroups S for which the congruence $\bigcup_{i=0}^{\infty}\varrho^{(i)}$ is left reductive. We prove that, for a congruence ? on a semigroup S, $\bigcup_{i=0}^{\infty}\varrho^{(i)}$ is a left reductive congruence of S if and only if $\bigcup_{i=0}^{\infty}\iota_{(S/\varrho)}^{(i)}$ is a left reductive congruence on the factor semigroup S/? (here ι (S/?) denotes the identity relation on S/?). After proving some other results, we show that if S is a Noetherian semigroup (which means that the lattice of all congruences on S satisfies the ascending chain condition) or a semigroup in which S n =S n+1 is satisfied for some positive integer n then the universal relation on S is the only left reductive congruence on S if and only if S is an ideal extension of a left zero semigroup by a nilpotent semigroup. In particular, S is a commutative Noetherian semigroup in which the universal relation on S is the only left reductive congruence on S if and only if S is a finite commutative nilpotent semigroup.  相似文献

We study the character amenability of semigroup algebras. We work on general semigroups and certain semigroups such as inverse semigroups with a finite number of idempotents, inverse semigroups with uniformly locally finite idempotent set, Brandt and Rees semigroup and study the character amenability of the semigroup algebra l1(S) in relation to the structures of the semigroup S. In particular, we show that for any semigroup S, if ?1(S) is character amenable, then S is amenable and regular. We also show that the left character amenability of the semigroup algebra ?1(S) on a Brandt semigroup S over a group G with index set J is equivalent to the amenability of G and J being finite. Finally, we show that for a Rees semigroup S with a zero over the group G, the left character amenability of ?1(S) is equivalent to its amenability, this is in turn equivalent to G being amenable.  相似文献

In this paper we define the module topological center of the second dual $\mathcal{A}^{**}$ of a Banach algebra $\mathcal{A}$ which is a Banach $\mathfrak{A}$ -module with compatible actions on another Banach algebra $\mathfrak{A}$ . We calculate the module topological center of ? 1(S)**, as an ? 1(E)-module, for an inverse semigroup S with an upward directed set of idempotents E. We also prove that ? 1(S)** is ? 1(E)-module amenable if and only if an appropriate group homomorphic image of S is finite.  相似文献

Let Γ be a set and (E, ‖·‖ E ) be a nontrivial Banach space. In this paper, through generalizing to vector-valued discrete Lebesgue spaces ? 1(Γ,E), we show that the topology β 1(Γ,E) introduced by Singh is, in fact, a type of strict topology. This observation enables us to conclude various basic properties of β 1(Γ,E). Then, we consider the discrete semigroup algebra ? 1(S,E) under certain locally convex topologies. As an application of our results, we show that the semigroup algebra (? 1(S,E), β 1(S,E)) with the convolution as multiplication is a complete semi-topological (but not topological) algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, we characterize pseudo-contractibility of 1(S), where S is a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup. As a consequence, we show that for a Brandt semigroup S=M0(G,I),{S={\mathcal{M}}^{0}(G,I),} the semigroup algebra 1(S) is pseudo-contractible if and only if G and I are finite. Moreover, we study the notions of pseudo-amenability and pseudo-contractibility of a semigroup algebra 1(S) in terms of the amenability of S.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with the semigroup algebra M a (S) for a locally compact semigroup S under the topology β 1(S) which has been recently defined in Maghsoudi, Nasr-Isfahani and Rejali (Semigroup Forum 73:367–376, 2006). We first show that the topology β 1(S) can be considered a natural mixed topology. Then, using this fact, we obtain new results about the topology β 1(S). As an application of our results, we show that (M a (S),β 1(S)), for a wide class of locally compact semigroups, is a complete semi-topological algebra with the convolution multiplication.  相似文献

Let G be a group, S a subgroup of G, and F a field of characteristic p. We denote the augmentation ideal of the group algebra FG by ω(G). The Zassenhaus-Jennings-Lazard series of G is defined by Dn(G)=G∩(1+ωn(G)). We give a constructive proof of a theorem of Quillen stating that the graded algebra associated with FG is isomorphic as an algebra to the enveloping algebra of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We then extend a theorem of Jennings that provides a basis for the quotient ωn(G)/ωn+1(G) in terms of a basis of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We shall use these theorems to prove the main results of this paper. For G a finite p-group and n a positive integer, we prove that G∩(1+ω(G)ωn(S))=Dn+1(S) and G∩(1+ω2(G)ωn(S))=Dn+2(S)Dn+1(SD2(G)). The analogous results for integral group rings of free groups have been previously obtained by Gruenberg, Hurley, and Sehgal.  相似文献

Let S be a locally compact semigroup, let ω be a weight function on S, and let Ma (S, ω) be the weighted semigroup algebra of S. Let L0 (S;Ma (S, ω)) be the C*‐algebra of allMa (S, ω)‐measurable functions g on S such that g /ω vanishes at infinity. We introduce and study an Arens multiplication on L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* under which Ma (S, ω) is a closed ideal. We show that the weighted measure algebra M (S, ω) plays an important role in the structure of L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))*. We then study Arens regularity of L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* and ist relation with Arens regularity of Ma (S, ω), M (S, ω) and the discrete convolution algebra 1(S, ω). As the main result, we prove that L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* is Arens regular if and only if S is finite, or S is discrete and Ω is zero cluster. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Zhu (Semigroup Forum 84(3), 144–156, 2012) investigated some combinatorial properties of generalized Cayley graphs of semigroups. In Remark 3.8 of (Zhu, Semigroup Forum 84(3), 144–156, 2012), Zhu proposed the following question: It may be interesting to characterize semigroups S such that Cay(S,ω l )=Cay(S,ω r ). In this short note, we prove that for any regular semigroup S, Cay(S,ω l )=Cay(S,ω r ) if and only if S is a Clifford semigroup.  相似文献

It is known that the algebra of Schur operators on ?2 (namely operators bounded on both ?1 and ?) is not inverse-closed. When ?2=?2(X) where X is a metric space, one can consider elements of the Schur algebra with certain decay at infinity. For instance if X has the doubling property, then Q. Sun has proved that the weighted Schur algebra Aω(X) for a strictly polynomial weight ω is inverse-closed. In this paper, we prove a sharp result on left-invertibility of the these operators. Namely, if an operator AAω(X) satisfies ‖Afp?‖fp, for some 1?p?∞, then it admits a left-inverse in Aω(X). The main difficulty here is to obtain the above inequality in ?2. The author was both motivated and inspired by a previous work of Aldroubi, Baskarov and Krishtal (2008) [1], where similar results were obtained through different methods for X=Zd, under additional conditions on the decay.  相似文献

It is proved that for an [FC]? group G, the Beurling algebra Lω1(G) is 1-regular if and only if ω is non-quasianalytic. As an application the Wiener property is deduced. Further for a σ-compact [FD]? group G, points in Prim1Lω1(G) are shown to be spectral provided that ω satisfies Shilov's conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we seek to determine the Jacobson radical of certain algebras based on semigroups, and in particular on the semigroups (βS,□), where S is a cancellative, countable, abelian semigroup and βS is its Stone–?ech semigroup compactification. In particular, we wish to determine the radical of ? ?1(β?).  相似文献

For any field 𝕂 and integer n ≥ 2, we consider the Leavitt algebra L 𝕂(n); for any integer d ≥ 1, we form the matrix ring S = M d (L 𝕂(n)). S is an associative algebra, but we view S as a Lie algebra using the bracket [a, b] = ab ? ba for a, b ∈ S. We denote this Lie algebra as S ?, and consider its Lie subalgebra [S ?, S ?]. In our main result, we show that [S ?, S ?] is a simple Lie algebra if and only if char(𝕂) divides n ? 1 and char(𝕂) does not divide d. In particular, when d = 1, we get that [L 𝕂(n)?, L 𝕂(n)?] is a simple Lie algebra if and only if char(𝕂) divides n ? 1.  相似文献

For any finite commutative idempotent semigroup S, a semilattice, we show how to compute the amenability constant of its semigroup algebra 1(S). This amenability constant is always of the form 4n+1. We then show that these give lower bounds to amenability constants of certain Banach algebras graded over semilattices. We also give example of a commutative Clifford semigroups G n whose semigroup algebras 1(G n ) admit amenability constants of the form 41+4(n−1)/n. We also show there is no commutative semigroup whose semigroup algebra has an amenability constant between 5 and 9. N. Spronk’s research was supported by NSERC Grant 312515-05.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that if S is a commutative semigroup acting on an ordered groupoid G, then there exists a commutative semigroup S? acting on the ordered groupoid G?:=(G × S)/ρ? in such a way that G is embedded in G?. Moreover, we prove that if a commutative semigroup S acts on an ordered groupoid G, and a commutative semigroup S? acts on an ordered groupoid G? in such a way that G is embedded in S?, then the ordered groupoid G? can be also embedded in G?. We denote by ρ? the equivalence relation on G × S which is the intersection of the quasi-order ρ (on G × S) and its inverse ρ ?1.  相似文献
