We prove that the functor of tensor multiplication by a right S-poset (S is a pomonoid) preserves all small weighted limits if and only if this S-poset is cyclic and projective. We also show that this functor preserves all finite pie-limits if and only if the S-poset is a filtered colimit of S-posets isomorphic to S S .  相似文献

Let C be a category with inverse limits. A category xis called an A-topos if there is a site (?, τ), i.e. a small category ? together with a Grothendieck topology τ such that xis equivalent to the category Shτ[C0. A] of τ-sheaves on C with values in C. If xis an C-topos, then so is Shτ'[?0, x] for any site (?', τ'). It is shown that if for every site (?,τ) the associated sheaf functor from presheaves to τ-sheaves with values in A exists (and preserves finite inverse limits), then the same holds if Ais replaced by any A-topos x. Roughly speaking, the main result is that for a site (?,τ) the associated sheaf functor [?0, A] → Shτ [?0, A] exists and preserves finite inverse limits, provided A has filtered direct limits which commute with finite inverse limits, e.g. if A is a Grothendieck category or a category of sheaves with values in a locally finitely presentable category [8. 7.1]. Analogous results hold in the additive case.  相似文献

For an effect algebra A, we examine the category of all morphisms from finite Boolean algebras into A. This category can be described as a category of elements of a presheaf R(A) on the category of finite Boolean algebras. We prove that some properties (being an orthoalgebra, the Riesz decomposition property, being a Boolean algebra) of an effect algebra A can be characterized in terms of some properties of the category of elements of the presheaf R(A). We prove that the tensor product of effect algebras arises as a left Kan extension of the free product of finite Boolean algebras along the inclusion functor. The tensor product of effect algebras can be expressed by means of the Day convolution of presheaves on finite Boolean algebras.  相似文献

A natural question in the theory of Tannakian categories is: What if you don’t remember Forget? Working over an arbitrary commutative ring R, we prove that an answer to this question is given by the functor represented by the étale fundamental groupoid π 1(spec(R)), i.e. the separable absolute Galois group of R when it is a field. This gives a new definition for étale π 1(spec(R)) in terms of the category of R-modules rather than the category of étale covers. More generally, we introduce a new notion of “commutative 2-ring” that includes both Grothendieck topoi and symmetric monoidal categories of modules, and define a notion of π 1 for the corresponding “affine 2-schemes.” These results help to simplify and clarify some of the peculiarities of the étale fundamental group. For example, étale fundamental groups are not “true” groups but only profinite groups, and one cannot hope to recover more: the “Tannakian” functor represented by the étale fundamental group of a scheme preserves finite products but not all products.  相似文献

Given a Hopf algebra A, there exist various cohomology theories for the category of Hopf bimodules over A, introduced by Gerstenhaber and Schack, and by Ospel. We prove, when all the spaces involved are finite dimensional, that they are all equal to the Ext functor on the module category of an associative algebra X associated to A, as described by Cibils and Rosso. We also give an expression for a cup-product in the cohomology defined by Ospel, and prove that it corresponds to the Yoneda product of extensions.  相似文献

Abstract

Given a monoidal category B and a category S of monoids in B we study the category MODS of all actions of monoids from S on B-objects. This is mainly done by investigation of the underlying functor V: MODS → SxB. In particular V creates limits; filtered colimits and arbitrary colimits are detected, provided the monoidal structure behaves nicely with respect to these constructions. Moreover MODS contains B as a full coreflective subcategory; S is contained as a full reflective (and coreflective) one provided B has a terminal (zero) object. Monadicity of MODS over B is discussed as well.  相似文献

If S is a monoid, a right S-act A S is a set A, equipped with a “right S-action” A×SA sending the pair (a,s)∈ A×S to as, that satisfies the conditions (i) a(st)=(as)t and (ii) a1=a for all aA and s,tS. If, in addition, S is equipped with a compatible partial order and A is a poset, such that the action is monotone (when A×S is equipped with the product order), then A S is called a right S-poset. Left S-acts and S-posets are defined analogously. For a given S-act (resp. S-poset) a tensor product functor A S ?? from left S-acts to sets (resp. left S-posets to posets) exists, and A S is called pullback flat or equalizer flat (resp. subpullback flat or subequalizer flat) if this functor preserves pullbacks or equalizers (resp. subpullbacks or subequalizers). By analogy with the Lazard-Govorov Theorem for R-modules, B. Stenström proved in 1971 that an S-act is isomorphic to a directed colimit of finitely generated free S -acts if and only if it is both pullback flat and equalizer flat. Some 20 years later, the present author showed that, in fact, pullback flatness by itself is sufficient. (A new, more direct proof of that result is contained in the present article.) In 2005, Valdis Laan and the present author obtained a version of the Lazard-Govorov Theorem for S-posets, in which subpullbacks and subequalizers now assume the role previously played by pullbacks and equalizers. The question of whether subpullback flatness implies subequalizer flatness remained unsolved. The present paper provides a negative answer to this question.  相似文献

The following analog of the characterization of flat modules has been obtained for the variety of semimodules over a semiring R: A semimodule RA is flat (i.e., the tensor product functor – A preserves all finite limits) iff A is L-flat (i.e., A is a filtered colimit of finitely generated free semimodules). We also give new (homological) characterizations of Boolean algebras and complete Boolean algebras within the classes of distributive lattices and Boolean algebras, respectively, which solve two problems left open in [14]. It is also shown that, in contrast with the case of modules over rings, in general for semimodules over semirings the notions of flatness and mono-.atness (i.e., the tensor product functor – A preserves monomorphisms) are different.  相似文献

Let X be a scheme of finite type over a Noetherian base scheme S admitting a dualizing complex, and let UX be an open set whose complement has codimension at least 2. We extend the Deligne-Bezrukavnikov theory of perverse coherent sheaves by showing that a coherent intermediate extension (or intersection cohomology) functor from perverse sheaves on U to perverse sheaves on X may be defined for a much broader class of perversities than has previously been known. We also introduce a derived category version of the coherent intermediate extension functor.Under suitable hypotheses, we introduce a construction (called “S2-extension”) in terms of perverse coherent sheaves of algebras on X that takes a finite morphism to U and extends it in a canonical way to a finite morphism to X. In particular, this construction gives a canonical “S2-ification” of appropriate X. The construction also has applications to the “Macaulayfication” problem, and it is particularly well-behaved when X is Gorenstein. Our main goal, however, is to address a conjecture of Lusztig on the geometry of special pieces (certain subvarieties of the unipotent variety of a reductive algebraic group). The conjecture asserts in part that each special piece is the quotient of some variety (previously unknown for the exceptional groups and in positive characteristic) by the action of a certain finite group. We use S2-extension to give a uniform construction of the desired variety.  相似文献

The paper establishes, within constructive mathematics, a full and faithful functor M from the category of locally compact metric spaces and continuous functions into the category of formal topologies (or equivalently locales). The functor preserves finite products, and moreover satisfies f?g if, and only if, M(f)?M(g) for continuous . This makes it possible to transfer results between Bishop's constructive theory of metric spaces and constructive locale theory.  相似文献

In Comm. Algebra 30 (3) (2002), 1475–1498, Bulman-Fleming and Kilp developed various notions of flatness of a right act AS over a monoid S that are based on the extent to which the functor AS$\otimes -$ preserves equalizers. In Semigroup Forum 65 (3) (2002), 428–449, Bulman-Fleming discussed in detail one of these notions, annihilator-flatness. The present paper is devoted to two more of these notions, weak equalizer-flatness and strong torsion-freeness. An act AS is called weakly equalizer-flat if the functor AS$\otimes -$ almost preserves equalizers of any two homomorphisms into the left act SS, and strongly torsion-free if this functor almost preserves equalizers of any two homomorphisms from SS into the Rees factor act S(S/Sc), where c is any right cancellable element of S. (The adverb almost signifies that the canonical morphism provided by the universal property of equalizers may be only a monomorphism rather than an isomorphism.) From the definitions it is clear that flatness implies weak equalizer-flatness, which in turn implies annihilator-flatness, and it was known already that both of these implications are strict. A monoid is called right absolutely weakly equalizer-flat if all of its right acts are weakly equalizer-flat. In this paper we prove a result which implies that right PP monoids with central idempotents are absolutely weakly equalizer-flat. We also show that for a relatively large class of commutative monoids, right absolute equalizer-flatness and right absolute annihilator-flatness coincide. Finally, we provide examples showing that the implication between strong torsion-freeness and torsion-freeness is strict.  相似文献

A pair (C,U) consisting of a category C with coequalizers and a functor U: CSet is a weak quasi-variety if U has a left adjoint and U preserves and reflects regular epis. It is known that every weak quasi-variety is equivalent to a concrete quasi-variety, i.e. a category of Σ-algebras which has all free algebras and which is closed with respect to products and subalgebras. It is also known that if U preserves monic direct limits, C is equivalent to a concrete quasi-variety of Σ-algebras in which Σ contains no function symbols of infinite rank; and if U preserves all direct limits, C is equivalent to a concrete quasi-variety of Σ-algebras definable by a set of implications of the form
(t1 = s1∧?∧tm = sm) ? tm+1 = sm+1
where ti and si are Σ-terms and m is a nonnegative integer. This paper concerns several definitions of ‘finiteness’ in a category theoretic setting and some theorems on weak quasi-varieties. Two main theorems characterize those weak quasi-varieties (C, U) such that U preserves all direct limits.  相似文献

We show that there is one-to-one correspondence between certain algebraically and categorically defined subobjects, congruences and admissible preorders of S-posets. Using preservation properties of Pos-equivalence functors between Pos-categories we deduce that if S and T are Morita equivalent partially ordered monoids and F:Pos S Pos T is a Pos-equivalence functor then an S-poset A S and the T-poset F(A S ) have isomorphic lattices of (regular, downwards closed) subobjects, congruences and admissible preorders. We also prove that if A S has some flatness property then F(A S ) has the same property.  相似文献

The unit element of a ring A plays an important part in classical module theory. Its existence is equivalent to the adjointness of the free functor from the base category of abelian groups to the category of (unital) A-modules with the forgetful functor. Releasing the conditions on the “unit,” the relation between the free functor and the forgetful functor will also be changed. In this paper, we suggest how this situation may be handled.  相似文献

We prove that if a finite group H has a generalized involution model, as defined by Bump and Ginzburg, then the wreath product H ? S n also has a generalized involution model. This extends the work of Baddeley concerning involution models for wreath products. As an application, we construct a Gel’fand model for wreath products of the form A ? S n with A abelian, and give an alternate proof of a recent result due to Adin, Postnikov and Roichman describing a particularly elegant Gel’fand model for the wreath product ? r ? S n . We conclude by discussing some notable properties of this representation and its decomposition into irreducible constituents, proving a conjecture of Adin, Postnikov and Roichman.  相似文献

We study some categorical properties of the functor O β of weakly additive functionals acting in the category Tych of the Tychonoff spaces and their continuous mappings. We show that O β preserves the weight of infinite-dimensional Tychonoff spaces, the singleton, and the empty set, and that O β is monomorphic and continuous in the sense of T. Banakh, takes every perfect mapping to an epimorphism, and preserves intersections of functionally closed sets in a Tychonoff space.  相似文献

We prove that the liftings of a normal functor F in the category of compact Hausdorff spaces to the categories of (abelian) compact semigroups (monoids) are determined by natural transformations F(?)×F(?) → F(?×?) satisfying requirements that correspond to associativity, commutativity, and the existence of a unity. In particular, the tensor products for normal monads satisfy (not necessarily all) these requirements. It is proved that the power functor in the category of compacta is the only normal functor that admits a natural lifting to the category of convex compacta and their continuous affine mappings.  相似文献
