Abstract

If a functor U has a left co-unadjoint then U can be factored through a category of semad algebras. An analogue of the Beck monadicity theory is obtained. If R is a ring without a left unit but satisfying R2 = R then the category of unitary left R-modules need not be monadic over Set. The forgetful functor has, however, a left co-unadjoint for which a comparison functor is an equivalence of categories. Another example of a semadic functor is obtained by composing the forgetful functor from Abelian groups to Set with the doubling functor. The semi-adjoint situations in the senses of Medvedev and Davis are examined.  相似文献

We show that every essentially small finitely semisimple k-linear additive spherical category for which k=End(1) is a field, is equivalent to its dual over the long canonical forgetful functor. This includes the special case of modular categories. In order to prove this result, we show that the universal coend of the spherical category, with respect to the long forgetful functor, is self-dual as a Weak Hopf Algebra.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that the forgetful functor from the category of contiguity spaces to the category of generalized proximity spaces is topological, and that the right adjoint right inverse of this functor extends the inverse of the forgetful functor from the category of totally bounded uniform spaces to the category of proximity spaces.  相似文献

Given a ring A and an A-coring C, we study when the forgetful functor from the category of right C-comodules to the category of right A-modules and its right adjoint – A C are separable. We then proceed to study when the induction functor – A C is also the left adjoint of the forgetful functor. This question is closely related to the problem when A A Hom(C,A) is a Frobenius extension. We introduce the notion of a Galois coring and analyse when the tensor functor over the subring of A fixed under the coaction of C is an equivalence. We also comment on possible dualisation of the notion of a coring.  相似文献

We show that the category of valuated groups has a topological forgetful functor to the category of abelian groups. This category is universal, that is, it is the bireflective hull of its To-objects, and properties of the (large) lattice of epireflective subcategories are contrasted with results obtained by T. Marny [7] for universal categories over the category of sets.  相似文献

The settings for homotopical algebra—categories such as simplicial groups, simplicial rings, AA spaces, EE ring spectra, etc.—are often equivalent to categories of algebras over some monad or triple T. In such cases, T is acting on a nice simplicial model category in such a way that T descends to a monad on the homotopy category and defines a category of homotopy T-algebras. In this setting there is a forgetful functor from the homotopy category of T-algebras to the category of homotopy T-algebras.  相似文献

Let A be a differential graded (DG) algebra with a trivial differential over a commutative unital ring. This paper investigates the image of the totaling functor, defined from the category of complexes of graded A-modules to the category of DG A-modules. Specifically, we exhibit a special class of semifree DG A-modules which can always be expressed as the totaling of some complex of graded free A-modules. As a corollary, we also provide results concerning the image of the totaling functor when A is a polynomial ring over a field.  相似文献

It is well known that the forgetful functor from symmetric operads to nonsymmetric operads has a left adjoint Sym1 given by product with the symmetric group operad. It is also well known that this functor does not affect the category of algebras of the operad. From the point of view of the author's theory of higher operads, the nonsymmetric operads are 1-operads and Sym1 is the first term of the infinite series of left adjoint functors Symn, called symmetrisation functors, from n-operads to symmetric operads with the property that the category of one object, one arrow, …, one (n−1)-arrow algebras of an n-operad A is isomorphic to the category of algebras of Symn(A).In this paper we consider some geometrical and homotopical aspects of the symmetrisation of n-operads. We follow Getzler and Jones and consider their decomposition of the Fulton-Macpherson operad of compactified real configuration spaces. We construct an n-operadic counterpart of this compactification which we call the Getzler-Jones operad. We study the properties of Getzler-Jones operad and find that it is contractible and cofibrant in an appropriate model category. The symmetrisation of the Getzler-Jones operad turns out to be exactly the operad of Fulton and Macpherson. These results should be considered as an extension of Stasheff's theory of 1-fold loop spaces to n-fold loop spaces n?2. We also show that a space X with an action of a contractible n-operad has a natural structure of an algebra over an operad weakly equivalent to the little n-disks operad. A similar result holds for chain operads. These results generalise the classical Eckman-Hilton argument to arbitrary dimension. Finally, we apply the techniques to the Swiss-Cheese type operads introduced by Voronov and prove analogous results in this case.  相似文献

For an effect algebra A, we examine the category of all morphisms from finite Boolean algebras into A. This category can be described as a category of elements of a presheaf R(A) on the category of finite Boolean algebras. We prove that some properties (being an orthoalgebra, the Riesz decomposition property, being a Boolean algebra) of an effect algebra A can be characterized in terms of some properties of the category of elements of the presheaf R(A). We prove that the tensor product of effect algebras arises as a left Kan extension of the free product of finite Boolean algebras along the inclusion functor. The tensor product of effect algebras can be expressed by means of the Day convolution of presheaves on finite Boolean algebras.  相似文献

In 1971, Stenström published one of the first papers devoted to the problem of when, for a monoid S and a right S -act A S , the functor A? (from the category of left acts over S into the category of sets) has certain limit preservation properties. Attention at first focused on when this functor preserves pullbacks and equalizers but, since that time, a large number of related articles have appeared, most having to do with when this functor preserves monomorphisms of various kinds. All of these properties are often referred to as flatness properties of acts . Surprisingly, little attention has so far been paid to the obvious questions of when A S ? preserves all limits, all finite limits, all products, or all finite products. The present article addresses these matters.  相似文献

A topological molecular lattice (TML) is a pair (L, T), where L is a completely distributive lattice and r is a subframe of L. There is an obvious forgetful functor from the category TML of TML‘s to the category Loc of locales. In this note,it is showed that this forgetful functor has a right adjoint. Then, by this adjunction,a special kind of topological molecular lattices called sober topological molecular lattices is introduced and investigated.  相似文献

A category ${\mathcal{K}}$ is called universal if for every accessible functor F : Set → Set the category of all F-coalgebras and the category of all F-algebras can be fully embedded into ${\mathcal{K}}$ . We prove that for a functor G preserving intersections, the category Coalg G of all G-coalgebras is universal unless the functor G is linear, that is, of the form GX = X × A + B for some fixed sets A and B. Other types of universality are also investigated.  相似文献

Tannakian Approach to Linear Differential Algebraic Groups   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Tannaka’s theorem states that a linear algebraic group G is determined by the category of finite-dimensional G-modules and the forgetful functor. We extend this result to linear differential algebraic groups by introducing a category corresponding to their representations and show how this category determines such a group. This work was partially supported by NSF Grant CCR-0096842 and by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, project no. 05-01-00671.  相似文献

For an arbitrary group G, a (semi-)Mackey functor is a pair of covariant and contravariant functors from the category of G-sets, and is regarded as a G-bivariant analog of a commutative (semi-)group. In this view, a G-bivariant analog of a (semi-)ring should be a (semi-)Tambara functor. A Tambara functor is firstly defined by Tambara, which he called a TNR-functor, when G is finite. As shown by Brun, a Tambara functor plays a natural role in the Witt–Burnside construction. It will be a natural question if there exist sufficiently many examples of Tambara functors, compared to the wide range of Mackey functors. In the first part of this article, we give a general construction of a Tambara functor from any Mackey functor, on an arbitrary group G. In fact, we construct a functor from the category of semi-Mackey functors to the category of Tambara functors. This functor gives a left adjoint to the forgetful functor, and can be regarded as a G-bivariant analog of the monoid-ring functor. In the latter part, when G is finite, we investigate relations with other Mackey-functorial constructions — crossed Burnside ring, Elliott?s ring of G-strings, Jacobson?s F-Burnside ring — all these lead to the study of the Witt–Burnside construction.  相似文献

The category of (colored) props is an enhancement of the category of colored operads, and thus of the category of small categories. In this paper, the second in a series on ‘higher props,’ we show that the category of all small colored simplicial props admits a cofibrantly generated model category structure. With this model structure, the forgetful functor from props to operads is a right Quillen functor.  相似文献

Given a Hopf algebra A, there exist various cohomology theories for the category of Hopf bimodules over A, introduced by Gerstenhaber and Schack, and by Ospel. We prove, when all the spaces involved are finite dimensional, that they are all equal to the Ext functor on the module category of an associative algebra X associated to A, as described by Cibils and Rosso. We also give an expression for a cup-product in the cohomology defined by Ospel, and prove that it corresponds to the Yoneda product of extensions.  相似文献

Most results on the structure of lattice-ordered fields require that the field have a positive multiplicative identity. We construct a functor from the category of lattice-ordered fields with a vector space basis of d-elements to the full subcategory of such fields with positive multiplicative identities. This functor is a left adjoint to the forgetful functor and, in many cases, allows us to write all compatible lattice orders in terms of orders with positive multiplicative identities. We also use these results to characterize algebraically those extensions of totally ordered fields that have vℓ-bases of d-elements. This paper is dedicated to Bernhard Banaschewski on the occasion of his 80th birthday.  相似文献

As a practical foundation for a homotopy theory of abstract spacetime, we extend a category of certain compact partially ordered spaces to a convenient category of “locally preordered” spaces. We show that our new category is Cartesian closed that the forgetful functor to the category of compactly generated spaces creates all limits and colimits.  相似文献

Models for parallel and concurrent processes lead quite naturally to the study of monoidal categories (Inform. Comput. 88 (2) (1990) 105). In particular a category Tree of trees, equipped with a non-symmetric tensor product, interpreted as a concatenation, seems to be very useful to represent (local) behavior of non-deterministic agents able to communicate (Enriched Categories for Local and Interaction Calculi, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Vol. 283, Springer, Berlin, 1987, pp. 57-70). The category Tree is also provided with a coproduct (corresponding to choice between behaviors) and the tensor product is only partially distributive w.r.t. it, in order to preserve non-determinism. Such a category can be properly defined as the category of the (finite) symmetric categories on a free monoid, when this free monoid is considered as a 2-category. The monoidal structure is inherited from the concatenation in the monoid. In this paper we prove that for every alphabet A, Tree(A), the category of finite A-labeled trees is equivalent to the free category which is generated by A and enjoys the afore-mentioned properties. The related category Beh(A), corresponding to global behaviors is also proven to be equivalent to the free category which is generated by A and enjoys a smaller set of properties.  相似文献
