In this paper we prove a conjecture of David Masser on small height integral equivalence between integral quadratic forms. Using our resolution of Masser’s conjecture we show that integral orthogonal groups are generated by small elements which is essentially an effective version of Siegel’s theorem on the finite generation of these groups. We also obtain new estimates on reduction theory and representation theory of integral quadratic forms. Our line of attack is to make and exploit the connections between certain problems about quadratic forms and group actions, whence we may study the problem in the well-developed theory of homogeneous dynamics, arithmetic groups, and the spectral theory of automorphic forms.  相似文献

In this paper, we firstly establish the existence theorem of the global weak solutions of the Cauchy problem for the shallow water wave model of moderate amplitude, then following the idea in Xin and Zhang’s work (see Xin and Zhang, 2002), we prove the uniqueness of global weak solutions using the localization analysis in the transport equation theory. Finally, several travelling wave solutions are derived.  相似文献

We prove that if two germs of diffeomorphisms preserving a voiume, symplectic, or contact structure are tangent to a high enough order and the linearization is hyperbolic, it is possible to find a smooth change of variables that sends one into the other and which, moreover, preserves the same geometric structure. This result is a geometric version of Sternberg’s linearization theorem, which we recover as a particular case. An analogous result is also proved for flows.  相似文献

Asplund and Grünbaum proved that Miquel’s six-circles theorem holds in strictly convex, smooth normed planes if the considered circles have equal radii. We extend this result in two directions. First we prove that Miquel’s theorem for circles of equal radii (more precisely, a generalized version of it) is true in every normed plane, without the assumptions of strict convexity and smoothness, and give also some properties of the circle configuration related to this theorem. Second we clarify the situation if the circles of the corresponding configuration do not necessarily have equal radii.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a discrete version of Aleksandrov's projection theorem. We prove that an origin-symmetric convex lattice set, whose lattice's y-coordinates' absolute values are not bigger than 2, can be uniquely determined by its lattice projection counts if its cardinality is not 11. This partly answers a question on the discrete version of Aleksandrov's projection theorem which was proposed by Gardner, Gronchi and Zong in 2005.  相似文献

We prove that externally definable sets in first order NIP theories have honest definitions, giving a new proof of Shelah’s expansion theorem. Also we discuss a weak notion of stable embeddedness true in this context. Those results are then used to prove a general theorem on dependent pairs, which in particular answers a question of Baldwin and Benedikt on naming an indiscernible sequence.  相似文献

The authors obtain new characterizations of unconditional Cauchy series in termsof separation properties of subfamilies of P(N), and a generalization of the Orlicz-PettisTheorem is also obtained. New results on the uniform convergence on matrices anda new version of the Hahn-Schur summation theorem are proved. The aim of this paper is to establish the existence and uniqueness results for implicit differential equations of Hilfer-type fractional order via Schaefer’s fixed point theorem and Banach contraction principle. Next, we establish the equivalent mixed-type integral for nonlocal condition. Further we prove the Ulam stability results. We investigate differentiability of functions defined on regions of the real quaternion field and obtain a noncommutative version of the Cauchy-Riemann conditions. Then we study the noncommutative analog of the Cauchy integral as well as criteria for functions of a quternion variable to be analytic. In particular, the quaternionic exponential and logarithmic functions are being considered. Main results include quaternion versions of Hurwitz' theorem, Mittag-Leffler's theorem and Weierstrass' theorem.  相似文献

We consider a mixed-type equation whose order degenerates along the line of change of type. For this equation we study the unique solvability of a nonlocal problem with the Saigo operators in the boundary condition. We prove the uniqueness theorem under certain conditions (stated as inequalities) on known functions. To prove the existence of solution to the problem, we equivalently reduce it to a singular integral equation with the Cauchy kernel. We establish a condition ensuring the existence of a regularizer which reduces the obtained equation to a Fredholm equation of the second kind, whose unique solvability follows from that of the problem.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce generalized growth orders and growth types in the sense of Shah and Seremeta in the context of polymonogenic functions. They provide a refinement of previously introduced growth orders in the study of the asymptotic growth behavior of functions satisfying higher dimensional Cauchy–Riemann type equations. We prove a number of insight giving inequalities and manage to extend some basic results that were recently proved for the context of the usual first order Cauchy–Riemann system in Clifford analysis.  相似文献

The Kantorovich theorem is a fundamental tool in nonlinear analysis for proving the existence and uniqueness of solutions of nonlinear equations arising in various fields. In the present paper we formulate and prove a generalized Kantorovich theorem that contains as special cases the Kantorovich theorem and a weak Kantorovich theorem recently proved by Uko and Argyros. An illustrative example is given to show that the new theorem is applicable in some situations in which the other two theorems are not applicable.  相似文献

In this paper we explain the advantage of vector-valued norms and the role of matrices that are convergent to zero in the study of semilinear operator systems by means of some basic methods of nonlinear analysis: the contraction principle, Schauder’s fixed point theorem, the Leray–Schauder continuation principle and Krasnoselskii’s cone fixed point theorem. We provide an explicit algorithm of computing the mapping degree of a rational mapping from the real projective line to itself. As a corollary we prove Sturm’s theorem and a number of its generalizations. These generalizations are used to prove Tarski’s theorem about real semialgebraic sets. This paper deals with the Cauchy problem for nonlinear first order partial functional differential equations. The unknown function is the functional variable in the equation and the partial derivatives appear in a classical sense. A theorem on the local existence of a generalized solution is proved. The initial problem is transformed into a system of functional integral equations for an unknown function and for their partial derivatives with respect to spatial variables. The existence of solutions of this system is proved by using a method of successive approximations. A method of bicharacteristics and integral inequalities are applied.  相似文献

Abstract

We investigate transmission problems with strongly Lipschitz interfaces for the Dirac equation by establishing spectral estimates on an associated boundary singular integral operator, the rotation operator. Using Rellich estimates we obtain angular spectral estimates on both the essential and full spectrum for general bi-oblique transmission problems. Specializing to the normal transmission problem, we investigate transmission problems for Maxwell's equations using a nilpotent exterior/interior derivativeoperator. The fundamental commutation properties for this operator with the two basic reflection operators are proved. We show how the L 2spectral estimates are inherited for the domain of the exterior/interior derivative operator and prove some complementary eigenvalue estimates. Finally we use a general algebraic theorem to prove a regularity property needed for Maxwell's equations.  相似文献
