Summary In this paper we consider the problem of holomorphic continuation and removal of singularities of the CR functions given on K, where is a generic manifold with nondegenerate Levi form and K is a meromorphically p-convex compactum. We get some conditions on , relative to p-convexity and q-concavity, under which every integrable CR function given on K extends holomorphically in some domain \K, where is a wedge domain with edge . In the mid-1980s an equivalence was established between the simple closed geodesics on the Riemann surfaces obtained as quotients of the upper half plane H by any of the following subgroups of the modular group (1) : , (3), and 3. An axis of a hyperbolic element of (1) projects to a simple closed geodesic on one of these surfaces if and only if it does so on the other two.This equivalence was used to obtain a variety of Diophantine and geometric results. In subsequent related investigations, the role of (1) was assumed by the Hecke triangle group Gq for q 3. (For q = 3, we have (1) = G3.) These works employed the analog of 3, denoted q.In the context of the Gq, the present paper gives the analog of , which we denote q. As in the case q = 3, we have [q:q] = 2. A rather full discussion of geometry of q\ H is given. In particular, we demonstrate that the equivalence of simple closed geodesics on q\ H and q\ H does not hold for q 7.As of this writing, we have not been able to obtain an appropriate analog of (3).  相似文献

We construct the CR invariant canonical contact form can(J) on scalar positive spherical CR manifold (M,J), which is the CR analogue of canonical metric on locally conformally flat manifold constructed by Habermann and Jost. We also construct another canonical contact form on the Kleinian manifold ()/, where is a convex cocompact subgroup of AutCRS2n+1=PU(n+1,1) and () is the discontinuity domain of . This contact form can be used to prove that ()/ is scalar positive (respectively, scalar negative, or scalar vanishing) if and only if the critical exponent ()<n (respectively, ()>n, or ()=n). This generalizes Nayatanis result for convex cocompact subgroups of SO(n+1,1). We also discuss the connected sum of spherical CR manifolds.  相似文献

Consider the wave equation defined on a smooth bounded domain R n with boundary = 0 1. The control action is exercised in the Dirichlet boundary conditions only on 1 and is of classL 2(0,T: L 2(1)); instead, homogeneous boundary conditions of Dirichlet (or Neumann) type are imposed on the complementary part 0. The main result of the paper is a theorem which, under general conditions on the triplet {, 0, 1} with 0 , guarantees exact controllability on the spaceL 2() ×H –1() of maximal regularity forT greater than a computable timeT 0>0, which depends on the triplet. This theorem generalizes prior results by Lasiecka and the author [L-T.3] (obtained via uniform stabilization) and by Lions [L.5], [L.6] (obtained by a direct approach, different from the one followed here). The key technical issue is a lower bound on theL 2(1)-norm of the normal derivative of the solution to the corresponding homogeneous problem, which extends to a larger class of triplets {, 0, 1} prior results by Lasiecka and the author [L-T.3] and by Ho [H.1].This research was partially supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant NSF-DMS-8301668 and by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under Grant AFOSR-84-0365. Summary Consider the Dirichlet problem for an elliptic equation in a domain , with coefficients having discontinuity on a surface . The asymptotic behavior of the solution is studied as 0, 1 0, provided lim (/1) exists. Summary A generalized Stokes problem is addressed in the framework of a domain decomposition method, in which the physical computational domain is partitioned into two subdomains 1 and 2.Three different situations are covered. In the former, the viscous terms are kept in both subdomains. Then we consider the case in which viscosity is dropped out everywhere in . Finally, a hybrid situation in which viscosity is dropped out only in 1 is addressed. The latter is motivated by physical applications.In all cases, correct transmission conditions across the interface between 1 and 2 are devised, and an iterative procedure involving the successive resolution of two subproblems is proposed.The numerical discretization is based upon appropriate finite elements, and stability and convergence analysis is carried out.We also prove that the iteration-by-subdomain algorithms which are associated with the various domain decomposition approaches converge with a rate independent of the finite element mesh size.This work was partially supported by CIRA S.p.A. under the contract Coupling of Euler and Navier-Stokes equations in hypersonic flowsDeceased  相似文献

Let G be a transitive permutation group on a set and m a positive integer. If | – | m for every subset of and all g G, then || 2mp/(p – 1) where p is the least odd prime dividing |G|. It was shown by Mann and Praeger [13] that, for p = 3, the 3-groups G which attain this bound have exponent p. In an -group M with an appropriate operator set it is shown that the -value set (M) can be embedded in the value set (M). This embedding is an isomorphism if and only if each convex -subgroup is an -subgroup. If (M) has a.c.c. and M is either representable or finitely valued, then the two value sets are identical. More generally, these results hold for two related operator sets 1 and 2 and the corresponding -value sets and . We consider measurable subsets {ofR}n with 0<m()<, and we assume that has a spectral set . (In the special case when is also assumed open, may be obtained as the joint spectrum of a family of commuting self-adjoint operators {H k: 1kn} in L 2 () such that each H k is an extension of i(/x k) on C c (), k=1, ..., n.)It is known that is a fundamental domain for a lattice if is itself a lattice. In this paper, we consider a class of examples where is not assumed to be a lattice. Instead is assumed to have a certain inhomogeneous form, and we prove a necessary and sufficient condition for to be a fundamental domain for some lattice in {ofR}n. We are thus able to decide the question, fundamental domain or not, by considering only properties of the spectrum . Let be a domain in n, n >2, the boundary of which has a cusp point, pointing inside or outside the domain. The purpose of the paper is to characterize the traces on of the elements of the space H1() of functions with a finite Dirichlet integral. As a consequence one establishes the existence of a linear continuous extension operator H1 () H1(n) under the presence of an interior cusp point on . Theorems on domains with cusps are proved with the aid of results on cylindrical domains. In the space of functions with a finite Dirichlet integral in the exterior or the interior of the cylinder one introduces the norm, depending on a small parameter and generating a norm of the trace on as an element of the quotient space. The latter is placed in correspondence with an explicitly described norm of functions on the boundary, uniformly equivalent relative to . One constructs an operator of extension of functions from the exterior of the cylinder to Rn, preserving H1, whose norm is uniformly bounded relative to . For the optimal operator of extension from the inside of the cylinder one finds the asymptotic behavior of the norm as 0.
