In this article, the problem of estimating the covariance matrix in general linear mixed models is considered. Two new classes of estimators obtained by shrinking the eigenvalues towards the origin and the arithmetic mean, respectively, are proposed. It is shown that these new estimators dominate the unbiased estimator under the squared error loss function. Finally, some simulation results to compare the performance of the proposed estimators with that of the unbiased estimator are reported. The simulation results indicate that these new shrinkage estimators provide a substantial improvement in risk under most situations.  相似文献

This article considers a semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear regression model. The semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear regression model which is a generalization of the partially linear regression model and varying-coefficient regression model that allows one to explore the possibly nonlinear effect of a certain covariate on the response variable.A sieve M-estimation method is proposed and the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are discussed. Our main object is to estimate the nonparametric component and the unknown parameters simultaneously. It is easier to compute and the required computation burden is much less than the existing two-stage estimation method.Furthermore, the sieve M-estimation is robust in the presence of outliers if we choose appropriate ρ( ).Under some mild conditions, the estimators are shown to be strongly consistent;the convergence rate of the estimator for the unknown nonparametric component is obtained and the estimator for the unknown parameter is shown to be asymptotically normally distributed.Numerical experiments are carried out to investigate the performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

This paper studies estimation of a partially specified spatial autoregressive model with heteroskedasticity error term. Under the assumption of exogenous regressors and exogenous spatial weighting matrix, the unknown parameter is estimated by applying the instrumental variable estimation. Under certain sufficient conditions, the proposed estimator for the finite dimensional parameters is shown to be root-n consistent and asymptotically normally distributed; The proposed estimator for the unknown function is shown to be consistent and asymptotically distributed as well, though at a rate slower than root-n. Consistent estimators for the asymptotic variance-covariance matrices of both estimators are provided. Monte Carlo simulations suggest that the proposed procedure has some practical value.  相似文献

This article considers a semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear regression model with current status data. The semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear regression model which is a generalization of the partially linear regression model and varying-coefficient regression model that allows one to explore the possibly nonlinear effect of a certain covariate on the response variable. A Sieve maximum likelihood estimation method is proposed and the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are discussed. Under some mild conditions, the estimators are shown to be strongly consistent. The convergence rate of the estimator for the unknown smooth function is obtained and the estimator for the unknown parameter is shown to be asymptotically efficient and normally distributed. Simulation studies are conducted to examine the small-sample properties of the proposed estimates and a real dataset is used to illustrate our approach.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with inference of panel data varying-coefficient partially linear models with a one-way error structure. The model is a natural extension of the well-known panel data linear model (due to Baltagi 1995) to the setting of semiparametric regressions. The authors propose a weighted profile least squares estimator (WPLSE) and a weighted local polynomial estimator (WLPE) for the parametric and nonparametric components, respectively. It is shown that the WPLSE is asymptotically more efficient than the usual profile least squares estimator (PLSE), and that the WLPE is also asymptotically more efficient than the usual local polynomial estimator (LPE). The latter is an interesting result. According to Ruckstuhl, Welsh and Carroll (2000) and Lin and Carroll (2000), ignoring the correlation structure entirely and "pretending" that the data are really independent will result in more efficient estimators when estimating nonparametric regression with longitudinal or panel data. The result in this paper shows that this is not true when the design points of the nonparametric component have a closeness property within groups. The asymptotic properties of the proposed weighted estimators are derived. In addition, a block bootstrap test is proposed for the goodness of fit of models, which can accommodate the correlations within groups illustrate the finite sample performances of the Some simulation studies are conducted to proposed procedures.  相似文献

Distribution estimation is very important in order to make statistical inference for parameters or its functions based on this distribution. In this work we propose an estimator of the distribution of some variable with non-smooth auxiliary information, for example,a symmetric distribution of this variable.A smoothing technique is employed to handle the non-differentiable function.Hence,a distribution can be estimated based on smoothed auxiliary information.Asymptotic properties of the distribution estimator are derived and analyzed. The distribution estimators based on our method are found to be significantly efficient than the corresponding estimators without these auxiliary information. Some simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

This paper discusses robust nonparametric estimators of location regression function for errorsin-variables model with de-convolution kernel. The local constant smoother is used for the estimation of the nonparametric function, and the local linear smoother is proposed to deal with the boundary problem,as well as to improve the local constant smoother. We establish the asymptotic properties of the estimator, the influence function of the statistical functional and the breakdown point.A simulation study is carried out to demonstrate robust performance of the proposed estimator. The motorcycle data is presented to illustrate the application of the robust estimator further.  相似文献

Wavelet shrinkage is a strategy to obtain a nonlinear approximation to a given function f and is widely used in data compression, signal processing and statistics, etc. For Calder′on-Zygmund operators T,it is interesting to construct estimator of T f,based on wavelet shrinkage estimator of f.With the help of a representation of operators on wavelets, due to Beylkin et al.,an estimator of T f is presented in this paper. The almost everywhere convergence and norm convergence of the proposed estimators are established.  相似文献

The authors consider the partially linear model relating a response Y to predictors(x, T) with a mean function x Tβ0+ g(T) when the x s are measured with an additive error. The estimators of parameter β0are derived by using the nearest neighbor-generalized randomly weighted least absolute deviation(LAD for short) method. The resulting estimator of the unknown vector β0is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. In addition, the results facilitate the construction of confidence regions and the hypothesis testing for the unknown parameters. Extensive simulations are reported, showing that the proposed method works well in practical settings. The proposed methods are also applied to a data set from the study of an AIDS clinical trial group.  相似文献

This paper deals with estimating parameters under simple order when samples come from location models. Based on the idea of Hodges and Lehmann estimator (H-L estimator), a new approach to estimate parameters is proposed, which is difference with the classical L1 isotonic regression and L2 isotonic regression. An algorithm to compute estimators is given. Simulations by the Monte-Carlo method is applied to compare the likelihood functions with respect to L1 estimators and weighted isotonic H-L estimators.  相似文献

Fixed Design Nonparametric Regression with Truncated and Censored Data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper we consider a fixed design model in which the observations axe subject to left truncation and right censoring. A generalized product-limit estimator for the conditional distribution at a given covaxiate value is proposed, and an almost sure asymptotic representation of this estimator is established. We also obtain the rate of uniform consistency, weak convergence and a modulus of continuity for this estimator.Applications include trimmed mean and quantile function estimators.  相似文献

Case-cohort sampling is a commonly used and efficient method for studying large cohorts. In many situations, some covariates are easily measured on all cohort subjects, and surrogate measurements of the expensive covariates also may be observed. In this paper, to make full use of the covariate data collected outside the case-cohort sample, we propose'a class of weighted estimators with general time-varying weights for the additive hazards model, and the estimators are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. We also identify the estimator within this class that maximizes efficiency, and simulation studies show that the efficiency gains of the proposed estimator over the existing ones can be substantial in practical situations. A real example is provided.  相似文献

The multivariate extension of the Cox model proposed by Wei,Lin and Weissfeld in 1989 has been widely used for analyzing multivariate survival data.Under the model assumption, failure times from an individual are assumed to marginally follow their respective proportional hazards regression relation, leaving the joint distribution completely unspecified. This paper presents a simple approach to efficiency improvement through segmentation of stochastic integrals in the marginal estimating equations and incorporation of the limiting covariance structure. It is shown that when partition of the time interval is done at a suitable rate, the resulting estimator is consistent and asymptotically normal.Through the reproducing kernel Hilbert space arising from the covariance function of the limiting Gaussian process,it is also shown that the proposed estimator is asymptotically optimal within a reasonable class of estimators under marginal specification.Simulations are conducted to assess the finite-sample performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

For partial linear model Y = Xτβ0 g0(T) with unknown β0 ∈ Rd and an unknown smooth function g0, this paper considers the Huber-Dutter estimators of β0, scale σ for the errors and the function g0 approximated by the smoothing B-spline functions, respectively. Under some regularity conditions, the Huber-Dutter estimators of β0 and σ are shown to be asymptotically normal with the rate of convergence n-1/2 and the B-spline Huber-Dutter estimator of g0 achieves the optimal rate of convergence in nonparametric regression. A simulation study and two examples demonstrate that the Huber-Dutter estimator of β0 is competitive with its M-estimator without scale parameter and the ordinary least square estimator.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the estimator for the rth power of the scale parameter in a class of exponential family under symmetric entropy loss L(θ, δ) = v(θ/δ + δ/θ - 2). An exact form of the minimum risk equivariant estimator under symmetric entropy loss is given, and the minimaxity of the minimum risk equivariant estimator is proved. The results with regard to admissibility and inadmissibility of a class of linear estimators of the form cT(X) + d are given, where T(X) Gamma(v, θ).  相似文献

Based on the double penalized estimation method,a new variable selection procedure is proposed for partially linear models with longitudinal data. The proposed procedure can avoid the effects of the nonparametric estimator on the variable selection for the parameters components.Under some regularity conditions, the rate of convergence and asymptotic normality of the resulting estimators are established. In addition,to improve efficiency for regression coefficients, the estimation of the working covariance matrix is involved in the proposed iterative algorithm. Some simulation studies are carried out to demonstrate that the proposed method performs well.  相似文献

This article describes a local error estimator for Glimm's scheme for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and uses it to replace the usual random choice in Glimm's scheme by an optimal choice. As a by-product of the local error estimator, the procedure provides a global error estimator that is shown numerically to be a very accurate estimate of the error in L1 (R) for all times. Although there is partial mathematical evidence for the error estimator proposed, at this stage the error estimator must be considered ad- hoc. Nonetheless, the error estimator is simple to compute, relatively inexpensive, without adjustable parameters and at least as accurate as other existing error estimators. Numerical experiments in 1-D for Burgers' equation and for Euler's system are performed to measure the asymptotic accuracy of the resulting scheme and of the error estimator.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the estimating problem of semiparametric varyingcoefficient partially linear regression models. By combining the local polynomial and least squares procedures Fan and Huang (2005) proposed a profile least squares estimator for the parametric component and established its asymptotic normality. We further show that the profile least squares estimator can achieve the law of iterated logarithm. Moreover, we study the estimators of the functions characterizing the non-linear part as well as the error variance. The strong convergence rate and the law of iterated logarithm are derived for them, respectively.  相似文献
