The stability and bifurcations of a homoclinic loop for planar vector fields are closely related to the limit cycles. For a homoclinic loop of a given planar vector field, a sequence of quantities, the homoclinic loop quantities were defined to study the stability and bifurcations of the loop. Among the sequence of the loop quantities, the first nonzero one determines the stability of the homoclinic loop. There are formulas for the first three and the fifth loop quantities. In this paper we will establish the formula for the fourth loop quantity for both the single and double homoclinic loops. As applications, we present examples of planar polynomial vector fields which can have five or twelve limit cycles respectively in the case of a single or double homoclinic loop by using the method of stability-switching.  相似文献

We study the main bifurcations of multidimensional diffeomorphisms having a nontransversal homoclinic orbit to a saddle-node fixed point. On a parameter plane we build a bifurcation diagram for single-round periodic orbits lying entirely in a small neighborhood of the homoclinic orbit. Also, a relation of our results to the well-known codimension one bifurcations of a saddle fixed point with a quadratic homoclinic tangency and a saddle-node fixed point with a transversal homoclinic orbit is discussed.  相似文献

We study bifurcations of homoclinic orbits to hyperbolic saddle equilibria in a class of four-dimensional systems which may be Hamiltonian or not. Only one parameter is enough to treat these types of bifurcations in Hamiltonian systems but two parameters are needed in general systems. We apply a version of Melnikov?s method due to Gruendler to obtain saddle-node and pitchfork types of bifurcation results for homoclinic orbits. Furthermore we prove that if these bifurcations occur, then the variational equations around the homoclinic orbits are integrable in the meaning of differential Galois theory under the assumption that the homoclinic orbits lie on analytic invariant manifolds. We illustrate our theories with an example which arises as stationary states of coupled real Ginzburg–Landau partial differential equations, and demonstrate the theoretical results by numerical ones.  相似文献

A high-codimension homoclinic bifurcation is considered with one orbit flip and two inclination flips accompanied by resonant principal eigenvalues. A local active coordinate system in a small neighborhood of homoclinic orbit is introduced. By analysis of the bifurcation equation, the authors obtain the conditions when the original flip homoclinic orbit is kept or broken. The existence and the existence regions of several double periodic orbits and one triple periodic orbit bifurcations are proved. Moreover, the complicated homoclinic-doubling bifurcations are found and expressed approximately.  相似文献

In this paper, we study limit cycle bifurcations for a kind of non-smooth polynomial differential systems by perturbing a piecewise linear Hamiltonian system with the center at the origin and a homoclinic loop around the origin. By using the first Melnikov function of piecewise near-Hamiltonian systems, we give lower bounds of the maximal number of limit cycles in Hopf and homoclinic bifurcations, and derive an upper bound of the number of limit cycles that bifurcate from the periodic annulus between the center and the homoclinic loop up to the first order in εε. In the case when the degree of perturbing terms is low, we obtain a precise result on the number of zeros of the first Melnikov function.  相似文献

It was established in [1] that bifurcations of three-dimensional diffeomorphisms with a homoclinic tangency to a saddle-focus fixed point with the Jacobian equal to 1 can lead to Lorenz-like strange attractors. In the present paper we prove an analogous result for three-dimensional diffeomorphisms with a homoclinic tangency to a saddle fixed point with the Jacobian equal to 1, provided the quadratic homoclinic tangency under consideration is nonsimple.  相似文献

The Bogdanov‐Takens bifurcations of a Leslie‐Gower predator‐prey model with Michaelis‐Menten–type prey harvesting were studied. In the paper “Diff. Equ. Dyn. Syst. 20(2012), 339‐366,” Gupta et al proved that the Leslie‐Gower predator‐prey model with Michaelis‐Menten–type prey harvesting has rich dynamics. Some equilibria of codimension 1 and their bifurcations were discussed. In this paper, we find that the model has an equilibrium of codimensions 2 and 3. We also prove analytically that the model undergoes Bogdanov‐Takens bifurcations (cusp cases) of codimensions 2 and 3. Hence, the model can have 2 limit cycles, coexistence of a stable homoclinic loop and an unstable limit cycle, supercritical and subcritical Hopf bifurcations, and homoclinic bifurcation of codimension 1 as the values of parameters vary. Moreover, several numerical simulations are conducted to illustrate the validity of our results.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss a small nonautonomous perturbation of an autonomous system on Rn which has a homoclinic solution. Regarding the small perturbation as a parameter in an appropriate space of functions we discuss various situations of co-existence of homoclinic orbits. Those conditions of various co-existence actually define bifurcation manifolds in the space of functions for linearly independent homoclinic bifurcations.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the functional analytic method (theory of exponential dichotomies and Liapunov-Schmidt method) to study the homoclinic bifurcations of higher dimensional difference equations in a degenerate case. The homoclinic bifurcations in four dimensional vector fields are investigated by setting up a local coordinates near the homoclinic orbit. This homoclinic orbit is non-principal in the meanings that its positive semi-orbit takes orbit flip and its unstable foliation takes inclination flip. The existence, nonexistence, uniqueness and coexistence of the 1-homoclinic orbit and the 1-periodic orbit are studied. The existence of the twofold periodic orbit and three-fold periodic orbit are also obtained.  相似文献

Regarding the small perturbation as a parameter in an appropriate space of functions, we can discuss co-existence of homoclinic orbits for non-autonomous perturbations of an autonomous system in Rn and describe conditions of parameters for such degenerate homoclinic bifurcations with some bifurcation manifolds of infinite dimension. Since those manifolds determine the relation among parameters for such bifurcations, in this paper we give an algorithm to compute approximately those manifolds and concretely obtain their first order approximates.  相似文献

In this paper, complete analysis is presented to study codimension-2 bifurcations for the nonlinear Kaldor model of business cycle. Sufficient conditions are given for the model to demonstrate Bautin and Bogdanov–Takens (BT) bifurcations. By computing the first and second Lyapunov coefficients and performing nonlinear transformation, the normal forms are derived to obtain the bifurcation diagrams such as Hopf, homoclinic and double limit cycle bifurcations. In this work we consider the homoclinic bifurcations of expanding periodic points. After Marotto, when homoclinic orbits to expanding periodic points exist, the points are called snap-back-repellers. Several proofs of the existence of chaotic sets associated with such homoclinic orbits have been given in the last three decades. Here we propose a more general formulation of Marotto’s theorem, relaxing the assumption of smoothness, considering a generic piecewise smooth function, continuous or discontinuous. An example with a two-dimensional smooth map is given and one with a two-dimensional piecewise linear discontinuous map.  相似文献

Using a Melnikov-type technique, we study codimension-two bifurcations called the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations for subharmonics in periodic perturbations of planar Hamiltonian systems. We give a criterion for the occurrence of the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations and present approximate expressions for saddle-node, Hopf and homoclinic bifurcation sets near the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation points. We investigate a scenario for the creation of irregular chaotic attractors in Chua’s system. We show that irregular attractors in Chua’s system are created by those and only those mechanisms that characterize Lorenz, Rössler, and other dissipative nonlinear systems described by ordinary differential equations. These mechanisms include cascades of Feigenbaum period doubling bifurcations, subharmonic cascades of cycle bifurcations in Sharkovskii’s order, and homoclinic cascades of bifurcations.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we use Lagrange''s method and the generalized eigenvalue problem to study systems of two quadratic equations. We find exact conditions so the system can be codiagonalized and can have up to $4$ solutions. Second, we use this result to study homoclinic bifurcations for a periodically perturbed system. The homoclinic bifurcation is determined by $3$ bifurcation equations. To the lowest order, they are $3$ quadratic equations, which can be simplified by the codiagonalization of quadratic forms. We find that up to $4$ transverse homoclinic orbits can be created near the degenerate homoclinic orbit.  相似文献
