We propose a non-interior continuation algorithm for the solution of the linear complementarity problem (LCP) with a P0 matrix. The proposed algorithm differentiates itself from the current continuation algorithms by combining good global convergence properties with good local convergence properties under unified conditions. Specifically, it is shown that the proposed algorithm is globally convergent under an assumption which may be satisfied even if the solution set of the LCP is unbounded. Moreover, the algorithm is globally linearly and locally superlinearly convergent under a nonsingularity assumption. If the matrix in the LCP is a P* matrix, then the above results can be strengthened to include global linear and local quadratic convergence under a strict complementary condition without the nonsingularity assumption.  相似文献

We propose a noninterior continuation method for the monotone linear complementarity problem (LCP) by modifying the Burke–Xu framework of the noninterior predictor-corrector path-following method (Refs. 1–2). The new method solves one system of linear equations and carries out only one line search at each iteration. It is shown to converge to the LCP solution globally linearly and locally superlinearly without the assumption of strict complementarity at the solution. Our analysis of the continuation method is based on a broader class of the smooth functions introduced by Chen and Mangasarian (Ref. 3).  相似文献

Recently, Chen and Tseng extended non-interior continuation/ smooth- ing methods for solving linear/ nonlinear complementarity problems to semidefinite complementarity problems (SDCP). In this paper we propose a non-interior continuation method for solving the monotone SDCP based on the smoothed Fischer—Burmeister function, which is shown to be globally linearly and locally quadratically convergent under suitable assumptions. Our algorithm needs at most to solve a linear system of equations at each iteration. In addition, in our analysis on global linear convergence of the algorithm, we need not use the assumption that the Fréchet derivative of the function involved in the SDCP is Lipschitz continuous. For non-interior continuation/ smoothing methods for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem, such an assumption has been used widely in the literature in order to achieve global linear convergence results of the algorithms.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new smooth function that possesses a property not satisfied by the existing smooth functions. Based on this smooth function, we discuss the existence and continuity of the smoothing path for solving theP 0 function nonlinear complementarity problem ( NCP). Using the characteristics of the new smooth function, we investigate the boundedness of the iteration sequence generated by the non-interior continuation methods for solving theP 0 function NCP under the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded. We show that the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded is weaker than those required by a few existing continuation methods for solving the NCP  相似文献

** Email: zhenghaihuang{at}yahoo.com.cn; huangzhenghai{at}hotmail.com In this paper, we propose a non-interior continuation algorithmfor solving the P0-matrix linear complementarity problem (LCP),which is conceptually simpler than most existing non-interiorcontinuation algorithms in the sense that the proposed algorithmonly needs to solve at most one linear system of equations ateach iteration. We show that the proposed algorithm is globallyconvergent under a common assumption. In particular, we showthat the proposed algorithm is globally linearly and locallyquadratically convergent under some assumptions which are weakerthan those required in many existing non-interior continuationalgorithms. It should be pointed out that the assumptions usedin our analysis of both global linear and local quadratic convergencedo not imply the uniqueness of the solution to the LCP concerned. To the best of our knowledge, such a convergence result hasnot been reported in the literature.  相似文献

We propose a new smoothing Newton method for solving the P 0-matrix linear complementarity problem (P 0-LCP) based on CHKS smoothing function. Our algorithm solves only one linear system of equations and performs only one line search per iteration. It is shown to converge to a P 0-LCP solution globally linearly and locally quadratically without the strict complementarity assumption at the solution. To the best of author's knowledge, this is the first one-step smoothing Newton method to possess both global linear and local quadratic convergence. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm is promising.  相似文献

By smoothing a perturbed minimum function, we propose in this paper a new smoothing function. The existence and continuity of a smooth path for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) with a P 0 function are discussed. We investigate the boundedness of the iteration sequence generated by noninterior continuation/smoothing methods under the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded. Based on the new smoothing function, we present a predictor-corrector smoothing Newton algorithm for solving the NCP with a P 0 function, which is shown to be globally linearly and locally superlinearly convergent under suitable assumptions. Some preliminary computational results are reported.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a new non-interior continuation method for the solution of nonlinear complementarity problem with P 0-function (P 0-NCP). The proposed algorithm is based on a smoothing symmetric perturbed minimum function (SSPM-function), and one only needs to solve one system of linear equations and to perform only one Armijo-type line search at each iteration. The method is proved to possess global and local convergence under weaker conditions. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the algorithm is effective.  相似文献

Summary. In this paper we establish two new projection-type methods for the solution of monotone linear complementarity problem (LCP). The methods are a combination of the extragradient method and the Newton method, in which the active set strategy is used and only one linear system of equations with lower dimension is solved at each iteration. It is shown that under the assumption of monotonicity, these two methods are globally and linearly convergent. Furthermore, under a nondegeneracy condition they have a finite termination property. At last, the methods are extended to solving monotone affine variational inequality problem. Chen and Tseng (Math Program 95:431?C474, 2003) extended non-interior continuation methods for solving linear and nonlinear complementarity problems to semidefinite complementarity problems (SDCP), in which a system of linear equations is exactly solved at each iteration. However, for problems of large size, solving the linear system of equations exactly can be very expensive. In this paper, we propose a version of one of the non-interior continuation methods for monotone SDCP presented by Chen and Tseng that incorporates inexactness into the linear system solves. Only one system of linear equations is inexactly solved at each iteration. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence properties of the method are given under mild conditions.  相似文献

We propose a one-step smoothing Newton method for solving the non-linear complementarity problem with P0-function (P0-NCP) based on the smoothing symmetric perturbed Fisher function(for short, denoted as the SSPF-function). The proposed algorithm has to solve only one linear system of equations and performs only one line search per iteration. Without requiring any strict complementarity assumption at the P0-NCP solution, we show that the proposed algorithm converges globally and superlinearly under mild conditions. Furthermore, the algorithm has local quadratic convergence under suitable conditions. The main feature of our global convergence results is that we do not assume a priori the existence of an accumulation point. Compared to the previous literatures, our algorithm has stronger convergence results under weaker conditions.  相似文献

We extend the smoothing function proposed by Huang, Han and Chen [Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 117 (2003), pp. 39–68] for the non-linear complementarity problems to the second-order cone programming (SOCP). Based on this smoothing function, a non-interior continuation method is presented for solving the SOCP. The proposed algorithm solves only one linear system of equations and performs only one line search at each iteration. It is shown that our algorithm is globally and locally superlinearly convergent in absence of strict complementarity at the optimal solution. Numerical results indicate the effectiveness of the algorithm.  相似文献

A smoothing inexact Newton method for nonlinear complementarity problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this article, we propose a new smoothing inexact Newton algorithm for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) base on the smoothed Fischer-Burmeister function. In each iteration, the corresponding linear system is solved only approximately. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence are established without strict complementarity assumption at the NCP solution. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the method is effective for large-scale NCP.  相似文献

In this paper, an inverse complementarity power iteration method (ICPIM) for solving eigenvalue complementarity problems (EiCPs) is proposed. Previously, the complementarity power iteration method (CPIM) for solving EiCPs was designed based on the projection onto the convex cone K. In the new algorithm, a strongly monotone linear complementarity problem over the convex cone K is needed to be solved at each iteration. It is shown that, for the symmetric EiCPs, the CPIM can be interpreted as the well‐known conditional gradient method, which requires only linear optimization steps over a well‐suited domain. Moreover, the ICPIM is closely related to the successive quadratic programming (SQP) via renormalization of iterates. The global convergence of these two algorithms is established by defining two nonnegative merit functions with zero global minimum on the solution set of the symmetric EiCP. Finally, some numerical simulations are included to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed algorithms.  相似文献

Bai has recently presented a modulus-based matrix splitting iteration method, which is a powerful alternative for solving the large sparse linear complementarity problems. In this paper, we further present a two-step modulus-based matrix splitting iteration method, which consists of a forward and a backward sweep. Its convergence theory is proved when the system matrix is an H  + -matrix. Moreover, for the two-step modulus-based relaxation iteration methods, more exact convergence domains are obtained without restriction on the Jacobi matrix associated with the system matrix, which improve the existing convergence theory. Numerical results show that the two-step modulus-based relaxation iteration methods are superior to the modulus-based relaxation iteration methods for solving the large sparse linear complementarity problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new smoothing Broyden-like method for solving nonlinear complementarity problem with P 0 function. The presented algorithm is based on the smoothing symmetrically perturbed minimum function φ(a, b) = min{a, b} and makes use of the derivative-free line search rule of Li et al. (J Optim Theory Appl 109(1):123–167, 2001). Without requiring any strict complementarity assumption at the P 0-NCP solution, we show that the iteration sequence generated by the suggested algorithm converges globally and superlinearly under suitable conditions. Furthermore, the algorithm has local quadratic convergence under mild assumptions. Some numerical results are also reported in this paper.  相似文献
