In this paper, the risk model under constant dividend barrier strategy is studied, in which the premium income follows a compound Poisson process and the arrival of the claims is a p-thinning process of the premium arrival process. The integral equations with boundary conditions for the expected discounted aggregate dividend payments and the expected discounted penalty function until ruin are derived. In addition, the explicit expressions for the Laplace transform of the ruin time and the expected aggregate discounted dividend payments until ruin are given when the individual stochastic premium amount and claim amount are exponentially distributed. Finally, the optimal barrier is presented under the condition of maximizing the expectation of the difference between discounted aggregate dividends until ruin and the deficit at ruin.

We consider the compound binomial model in a Markovian environment presented by Cossette et al.(2004). We modify the model via assuming that the company receives interest on the surplus and a positive real-valued premium per unit time, and introducing a control strategy of periodic dividend payments. A Markov decision problem arises and the control objective is to maximize the cumulative expected discounted dividends paid to the shareholders until ruin minus a discounted penalty for ruin. We show that under the absence of a ceiling of dividend rates the optimal strategy is a conditional band strategy given the current state of the environment process. Under the presence of a ceiling for dividend rates, the character of the optimal control strategy is given. In addition, we offer an algorithm for the optimal strategy and the optimal value function.Numerical results are provided to illustrate the algorithm and the impact of the penalty.

This paper considers the optimal dividend and capital injection strategies in the classical risk model with randomized observation periods. Assume that ruin is prohibited. We aim to maximise the expected discounted dividend payments minus the expected penalised discounted capital injections. We derive the associated Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation and prove the verification theorem. The optimal control strategy and the optimal value function are obtained under the assumption that the claim sizes are exponentially distributed.

In this paper, we investigate an optimal periodic dividend and capital injection problem for spectrally positive Lévy processes. We assume that the periodic dividend strategy has exponential inter-dividend-decision times and continuous monitoring of solvency. Both proportional and fixed transaction costs from capital injection are considered. The objective is to maximize the total value of the expected discounted dividends and the penalized discounted capital injections until the time of ruin. By the fluctuation theory of Lévy processes in Albrecher et al. (2016), the optimal periodic dividend and capital injection strategies are derived. We also find that the optimal return function can be expressed in terms of the scale functions of Lévy processes. Finally, numerical examples are studied to illustrate our results.

For an insurance company with a debt liability, they could make some management actions, such as reinsurance, paying dividends, and capital injection, to balance the profitability and financial bankruptcy. Our objective is to determine risk retention rate, dividend, and capital injection strategy so as to maximize the expected discounted dividends minus the discounted cost of capital injection until the time of ruin. We assume that the dividend payments and capital injection should occur with both fixed and proportional costs. We obtain explicit expressions of the optimal value functions as well as the corresponding optimal joint strategies by routine procedures in a comprehensive basic model using a new technique to solve the related equations. Our results show that whether recapitalizing is profitable or not depends on the costs of capital raising and that the firm injects capital only when the reserves are zero and recapitalizes to the optimal reserves level if the cost of external capital is low. In the classical Cram\'{e}r-Lundberg model in risk theory the problem of finding the optimal dividend strategy and optimal dividend return function is a widely discussed topic. In the present paper, we discuss the problem of maximizing the expected discounted net dividend payments minus the expected discounted costs of injecting new capital, in the Cram\'{e}r-Lundberg model with proportional taxes and fixed transaction costs imposed each time the dividend is paid out and with both fixed and proportional transaction costs incurred each time the capital injection is made. Negative surplus or ruin is not allowed. By solving the corresponding quasi-variational inequality, we obtain the analytical solution of the optimal return function and the optimal joint dividend and capital injection strategy when claims are exponentially distributed.

In this paper, we study the optimal dividend and capital injection problem with the penalty payment at ruin. The dividend strategy is assumed to be restricted to a small class of absolutely continuous strategies with bounded dividend density. By considering the surplus process killed at the time of ruin, we transform the problem to a combined stochastic and impulse control one up to ruin with a free boundary at zero. We illustrate the theoretical verifications for different types of capital injection strategies comparing to the conventional results given in the literature, where the capital injections are made before the time of ruin. Under the assumption of restricted dividend density, the value function is proved as the unique increasing, bounded, Lipschitz continuous and upper semi-continuous at zero viscosity solution to the corresponding quasi-variational Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) equation. The uniqueness of such class of viscosity solutions is shown by considering its boundary condition at infinity. The optimality of a specific band-type strategy is proved for the case when the premium rate is (i) greater than or (ii) less than the ceiling dividend rate respectively. Some numerical examples are presented under the exponential and gamma claim size assumptions.

In this paper we consider a doubly discrete model used in Dickson and Waters (biASTIN Bulletin 1991; 21 :199–221) to approximate the Cramér–Lundberg model. The company controls the amount of dividends paid out to the shareholders as well as the capital injections which make the company never ruin in order to maximize the cumulative expected discounted dividends minus the penalized discounted capital injections. We show that the optimal value function is the unique solution of a discrete Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman equation by contraction mapping principle. Moreover, with capital injection, we reduce the optimal dividend strategy from band strategy in the discrete classical risk model without external capital injection into barrier strategy , which is consistent with the result in continuous time. We also give the equivalent condition when the optimal dividend barrier is equal to 0. Although there is no explicit solution to the value function and the optimal dividend barrier, we obtain the optimal dividend barrier and the approximating solution of the value function by Bellman's recursive algorithm. From the numerical calculations, we obtain some relevant economical insights. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper concerns an optimal dividend-penalty problem for the risk models with surplus-dependent premiums. The objective is to maximize the difference of the expected cumulative discounted dividend payments received until the moment of ruin and a discounted penalty payment taken at the moment of ruin. Since the value function may be not smooth enough to be the classical solution of the HJB equation, the viscosity solution is involved. The optimal value function can be characterized as the smallest viscosity supersolution of the HJB equation and the optimal dividend-penalty strategy has a band structure. Finally, some numerical examples with gamma distribution for the claims are analyzed.

In this paper, a multi-dimensional risk model with common shocks is studied. Using a simple probabilistic approach via observing the risk processes at claim instants, recursive integral formulas are developed for the survival probabilities as well as for a class of Gerber-Shiu expected discounted penalty functions that include the surplus levels at ruin. Under the assumption of exponential or mixed Erlang claims, the recursive integrals can be simplified to give recursive sums which are computationally more tractable. Numerical examples including an optimal capital allocation problem are also given towards the end.

The paper studies a discrete counterpart of Gerber et al. (2006). The surplus of an insurance company (before dividends) is modeled as a time-homogeneous Markov chain with possible changes of size +1,0,−1,−2,−3,…. If a barrier strategy is applied for paying dividends, it is shown that the dividends-penalty identity holds. The identity expresses the expected present value of a penalty at ruin in terms of the expected discounted dividends until ruin and the expected present value of the penalty at ruin if no dividends are paid. For the problem of maximizing the difference between the expected discounted dividends until ruin and the expected present value of the penalty at ruin, barrier strategies play a prominent role. In some cases an optimal dividend barrier exists. The paper discusses in detail the special case where the distribution of the change in surplus does not depend on the current surplus (so that in the absence of dividends the surplus process has independent increments). A closed-form result for zero initial surplus is given, and it is shown how the relevant quantities can be calculated recursively. Finally, it is shown how optimal dividend strategies can be determined; typically, they are band strategies.

We consider an optimization problem of an insurance company in the diffusion setting, which controls the dividends payout as well as the capital injections. To maximize the cumulative expected discounted dividends minus the penalized discounted capital injections until the ruin time, there is a possibility of (cheap or non-cheap) proportional reinsurance. We solve the control problems by constructing two categories of suboptimal models, one without capital injections and one with no bankruptcy by capital injection. Then we derive the explicit solutions for the value function and totally characterize the optimal strategies. Particularly, for cheap reinsurance, they are the same as those in the model of no bankruptcy.

In this paper,we consider a generalization of the classical ruin model, where the income is random and the distribution of the time between two claim occurrences depends on the previous claim size. This model is more appropriate than the classical ruin model.Explicit expression for the generating function of the Gerber-Shiu expected discounted penalty function are derived.A similar model is discussed. Finally, the result are showed by two examples.

In this paper, we consider the classical risk model modified in two different ways by the inclusion of a dividend barrier. For Model I, we present numerical algorithms, which can be used to approximate or bound the expected discounted value of dividends up to a finite time horizon, t, or ruin if this occurs earlier. We extend this by requiring the shareholders to provide the initial capital and to pay the deficit at ruin each time it occurs so that the process then continues after ruin up to time t. For Model I, we assume the full premium income is paid as dividends whenever the surplus exceeds a set level. In our Model II, we assume dividends are paid at a rate less than the rate of premium income. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In the absence of dividends, the surplus of an insurance company is modelled by a compound Poisson process perturbed by diffusion. Dividends are paid at a constant rate whenever the modified surplus is above the threshold, otherwise no dividends are paid. Two integro-differential equations for the expected discounted dividend payments prior to ruin are derived and closed-form solutions are given. Accordingly, the Gerber–Shiu expected discounted penalty function and some ruin related functionals, the probability of ultimate ruin, the time of ruin and the surplus before ruin and the deficit at ruin, are considered and their analytic expressions are given by general solution formulas. Finally the moment-generating function of the total discounted dividends until ruin is discussed.

This paper deals with Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) on Borel spaces with possibly unbounded costs. The criterion to be optimized is the expected total cost with a random horizon of infinite support. In this paper, it is observed that this performance criterion is equivalent to the expected total discounted cost with an infinite horizon and a varying-time discount factor. Then, the optimal value function and the optimal policy are characterized through some suitable versions of the Dynamic Programming Equation. Moreover, it is proved that the optimal value function of the optimal control problem with a random horizon can be bounded from above by the optimal value function of a discounted optimal control problem with a fixed discount factor. In this case, the discount factor is defined in an adequate way by the parameters introduced for the study of the optimal control problem with a random horizon. To illustrate the theory developed, a version of the Linear-Quadratic model with a random horizon and a Logarithm Consumption-Investment model are presented.
