An existence result of multiple solutions for a fourth-order Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem with variable parameters is established. As a consequence, three solutions for a boundary value problem with a fourth-order equation in a complete form are obtained. Our approach is based on variational methods.  相似文献

This paper considers the existence of the solutions for a class of fourth-order $p$-Laplacian. The boundary value problem considered can describe the tiny deformation of an elastic beam. This paper is concerned with a class of fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equations with nonlocal boundary conditions, including a multi-point boundary condition in a bounded domain of Rn. Also considered is a second-order elliptic equation with nonlocal boundary condition, and the usual multi-point boundary problem in ordinary differential equations. The aim of the paper is to show the existence of maximal and minimal solutions, the uniqueness of a positive solution, and the method of construction for these solutions. Our approach to the above problems is by the method of upper and lower solutions and its associated monotone iterations. The monotone iterative schemes can be developed into computational algorithms for numerical solutions of the problem by either the finite difference method or the finite element method.  相似文献

By establishing the corresponding variational framework, and using the mountain pass theorem, linking theorem and Clark theorem in critical point theory, we give the existence of multiple solutions for a fourth-order difference boundary value problem with parameter. Under some suitable assumptions we obtain some results which ensure the existence of well precise interval of parameter for which the problem admits multiple solutions. This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness of a solution for a class of fourth-order elliptic boundary value problems. The existence of a solution is proven by the method of upper and lower solutions without any monotone nondecreasing or nonincreasing property of the nonlinear function. Sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of a solution and some techniques for the construction of upper and lower solutions are given. All the existence and uniqueness results are directly applicable to fourth-order two-point boundary value problems.

In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of solutions of the operator equation Kfu=u in the real Hilbert space L2(G). Under certain conditions on the linear operator K, we establish the conditions on f which are able to guarantee that the operator equation has at least one solution, a unique solution, and infinitely many solutions, respectively. The monotone operator principle and the critical point theory are employed to discuss this problem, respectively. In argument, quadratic root operator K1/2 and its properties play an important role. As an application, we investigate the existence and multiplicity of solutions to fourth-order boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations with two parameters, and give some new existence results of solutions.  相似文献

Various existence, multiplicity, and nonexistence results for nontrivial solutions to a nonlinear discrete fourth-order Lidstone boundary value problem with dependence on two parameters are given, using a symmetric Green’s function approach. This paper presents a new reproducing kernel Hilbert space method for solving nonlinear fourth-order boundary value problems. It is a relatively new analytical technique. The solution obtained by using the method takes the form of a convergent series with easily computable components. This paper will present a numerical comparison between our method and other methods for solving an open fourth-order boundary value problem presented by Scott and Watts. The method is also applied to a nonlinear fourth-order boundary value problem. The numerical results demonstrate that the new method is quite accurate and efficient for fourth-order boundary value problems.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for an initial boundary problem of a fourth-order parabolic equation with variable exponent of nonlinearity. First, the authors of this paper apply Leray-Schauder’s fixed point theorem to prove the existence of solutions of the corresponding nonlinear elliptic problem and then obtain the existence of weak solutions of nonlinear parabolic problem by combining the results of the elliptic problem with Rothe’s method. In addition, the authors also discuss the regularity of weak solutions in the case of space dimension one.  相似文献

The arguments make use of the upper and lower solutions method, a ?-Laplacian operator and a fixed point theorem. In this paper the authors investigate the boundedness and almost periodicity of solutions of semilinear parabolic equations with boundary degeneracy. The equations may be weakly degenerate or strongly degenerate on the lateral boundary. The authors prove the existence, uniqueness and global exponential stability of bounded entire solutions, and also establish the existence theorem of almost periodic solutions if the data are almost periodic.  相似文献

This paper concerns the asymptotic behavior of solutions to one-dimensional semilinear parabolic equations with boundary degeneracy both in bounded and unbounded intervals. For the problem in a bounded interval, it is shown that there exist both nontrivial global solutions for small initial data and blowing-up solutions for large one if the degeneracy is not strong. Whereas in the case that the degeneracy is strong enough, the nontrivial solution must blow up in a finite time. For the problem in an unbounded interval, blowing-up theorems of Fujita type are established. It is shown that the critical Fujita exponent depends on the degeneracy of the equation and the asymptotic behavior of the diffusion coefficient at infinity, and it may be equal to one or infinity. Furthermore, the critical case is proved to belong to the blowing-up case.  相似文献
